I first tried this place a couple years back. The guy that helped me was grumpy and when I turned my car in he had a cleaning fee added. I don't eat in cars, don't smoke and only drink water. A couple bad experiences later I tried them again because enterprise is closed on Sundays when I was returning. So glad I came back because a new employee, Santiago was working there. He's personable, quick, efficient and knows cars. I prefer coming here when I know he's working as he really just wants to help. Sometimes I can be a lot but I appreciate his patience with me. Rented a EV in our trip so we could experience it before consider buying one. Our representative Rafael was great very knowledgeable and helpful. The car was in decent condition a little banged up but can well. We were disappointed it didn't come with or we could also rent a fast charger adapter. Charging it took forever!! Thank you so much for making our car rental experience so easy. Our family of 4 decided to take a trip up north and wanted to have a comfortable SUV that had enough space for all and our luggage. We called the arroyo parkway location and we were treated with so much respect and they were able to book our reservation within 5 minutes. When we arrived to pick up our car. We were there for about 15 minutes and we got the perfect SUV. Our SUV was clean and ready to go. The return of our car was easy. We gave the rep the key. He checked the car, entered the mileage and the gas and gave us our receipt. I will make sure to come back to your location as needed. read more

Unlawful and Unfair Experience with Avis Pasadena via Booking.com I booked an SUV in advance through Booking.com with Avis at the Pasadena, California location to secure both the car type and a fair price. When I arrived to check in, the manager informed me they had no SUVs available and instead only offered a Toyota sedan--at the same SUV price. He even suggested I could cancel on the spot and try to rebook with another rental company, fully knowing I had no real choice since I needed to begin my trip immediately. The manager's handling of the situation felt unlawful and manipulative. He claimed I hadn't provided my phone number or email during booking, but I confirmed that all my information was correctly listed. He then blamed Booking.com, saying they "often don't share details" with them. So what is the point of reserving through Booking.com if the guaranteed car and price mean nothing once you're at the rental desk? Avis Pasadena's manager left me without the SUV I reserved, forced into an unfair deal, and Booking.com provided no accountability or protection. This experience shows a total lack of quality control and responsibility on both sides. Customers deserve far better than being misled and trapped in these kinds of situations. read more

Wow. Just go to the location on Lake Ave instead. This location is understaffed, unprofessional, and tries to claim that they're not responsible for anything because they're a franchised location. Being a franchisee does not mean you can ignore all aspects of the brand standard. Normally there's not such a huge distinction between two ABG locations in the same city. I was proven very wrong. Make sure you book the correct one. Do not book the one on Arroyo. Book the one on Lake instead. (location code PAB). read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS AVIS LOCATION. Worst experience I have ever had. They outright lie and deceive you, even confirming your reservation, and then not honoring it, trying to convince you to take something you didn't reserve and don't want. We reserved a full size SUV and even confirmed in person two days ahead. When we arrived, they didn't have the car, came up with ridiculous lies and nonsense as to the reasons why, and then tried to get us to take a beaten-up small vehicle. No apologies, no accommodations, nothing. This place should be closed down for good, and all those responsible for this despicable operation held responsible for their horrible, outrageous conduct. read more

The worst experience in a rental company ever stressful experience and not a friendly person who claimed to be the manager...do better. They pre inspected the car and before I left there were some minor scratches and debris on the front grill that they would not mark as scratched even though they would not come off so who is responsible for this? Do not rent from this location. $450 charge if there is sand, grass , mud or anything inside the car how do you expect that the car won't get dirty. Not a pleasant experience when the whole reason to rent a car is to make things easier. read more

PLEASE DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS OFFICE. They have terrible service. Rafael, the front desk agent at this location has zero customer service . I asked him for his last name and he responded "it's Rafael, just Rafael". Very difficult to get across and AVIS failed to provide my correct number so they can communicate with me. Wrong number provided . Apparently, the person over the phone who helped me with a reservation last night lied and said a car was available at the arroyo location . None were available and spent $20 to get to the location. They do have multiple corollas and hybrid Prius cars there but they said those were not Uber cars. No courtesy or common ground. Very disrespectful and difficult to work with. I am a preferred member and will ask to be removed. Very bad business . Front desk agents need to be retrained . Avoid, avoid, avoid. Dirty car, did not mark dents on car. Refused to change car when we requested it, before setting out. Car lit up with multiple warnings on dashboard an hour into our drive-- no car manual in the glovebox! Customer service on 800 line unhelpful. Workers at this location were unhelpful, unresponsive, and unapologetic. This ruined our weekend getaway. They suggested that we return the car to their airport location-- no voucher for a rental nightmare. Had to pay for used gas. Lesson learned: Avis is a franchise operation, and the corporation cares much more about the franchise owners than actual customers, unlike a company like McDonald's. This is not the Avis of the 80s and 90s. Even though Enterprise charges twice as much, you will be so glad to pay their price. You will not have to cancel your vacation and feel like pulling your hair out. read more

I've been renting cars for a very long time now from multiple companies now from Hawaii to Barbados. But NEVER have I been so mistreated. I reserved a full size car through Costco. And when I got there Rafael didn't look to happy to be there. I get it, it was hot outside and he was cleaning out previous rentals. When I came in he took my license and credit card and advised me that he would be giving me a SUV cause they didn't have any sedans, claimed it was an upgrade but I told Raphael I would be driving a long distance and needed sedan which seemed to irritate him. He then told me I can take the SUV and go to a different Avis location and see if they would trade me for a full size sedan? Who does that to a customer?! What if the different location said no I would be stuck?! He did tell me a can have a Nissan Sentra but only at $5 cheaper. After going back and forth I took a Hyundai Tucson and he said people want to upgrade for free but don't want to downgrade! How rude! Fast forward 7 days later, when I came to return the car I saw Rafael and I knew I would have problems again with him. I took the car went to the beach a few times with my kids and when I came back he advised me that the car was excessively dirty so I took pictures of the vehicle before returning. Rafael, told me if they spend more than five minutes in the interior of the car it is their policy to charge excessive cleaning fee here are the pictures let me know what you think I will never run from this Avis again and he also said he would Black list me from Avis. read more

If I could give this place a negative rating I would. I've never experienced worst service than this establishment in my entire life. First, we got dropped off by the shuttle where they announced all preferred members to exit. Once you get off the shuttle and make it remotely close to the door, you're greeted by a grumpy door bouncer asking for your preferred credentials. Don't worry though, they accept all "preferred" members within a given timeframe. Preferred member for over a year, kudos to you, grab your token and pass go. Preferred member for 6 months or less, you're out of luck and just won yourself a spot in the 3.5 hour regular line down the street. Unreal, it's all up to how that bouncer at the door feels at that exact moment if she wants to let you through or not. Upon waiting in the 45 min preferred line, we got to the counter and then were told we actually weren't preferred (which I've been for 5+ years). After several minutes of arguing with the agent, I finally walked away because I couldn't deal with the incompetency any longer. I went to the 3.5 hour long line then, and waited another 20 minutes in that one until I said screw it, I'm going back to the preferred line. I proceeded to wait another 30 min for round 2 in the preferred line then. Got to the counter and the agent was completely incapable of finding my reservation. Ended up spending another 30 minutes with the agent, explaining to him that I already have a reservation. Finally got it squared away and then was left in the parking lot for another one hour waiting for my car to pull up. Car never comes & I'm then told that they had to switch our cars. The manager, Craig, ended driving the car up to us in the lot, and he was the first person to actually acknowledge and apologize for our bad experience. We lucked out with having him as our last person to speak to given our entire 3-hour experience with Avis, but overall, I will never be coming back to this place again. read more

SAVE YOURSELF FRUSTRATION! this was the worst rental car experience I've had. Arrived the time I received confirmation on my pick-up. Was told no cars would be available for at least 3 hours. No apologies -- instead it was blamed on me. I was told that I made a reservation the same day -- which was not true. Showed my emails for confirmation and there was zero concern. I was given Avis customer service number and told, "if I had a car I would rent it to you-- that's how I make money." A car was returned while I was talking to customer service and then I was told it was not the same level I rented. I wish I saw these reviews before I wasted my morning. There were also multiple cars in the parking lot. The same experience occurred to the person who came in after me. The folks here could care less. I left without a car and spent 40 minutes waiting on line for Avis national customer service to receive a coupon for my trouble. I would have preferred to be in my rental car and not have missed my morning appt. Such a headache and horrendous customer service here. Save yourself and go to another location. read more

DON'T COME HERE!!! You have been warned! Worst customer service ever from Javier, he would not give his last name, and all he said was "I am the only Javier here" He is ruthless and defiant. After we voided our transaction because they failed to provide the car size we reserved, he did not cancel the transaction, instead, we got charged for a rental we did not accept after all. He lied by trying to give us a compact SUV for an intermediate SUV stating it was the same size, even though there was another intermediate SVU available on their lot. Corporate office needs to take a closer look at management at this location. This is unacceptable behavior from employees. It tarnishes Avis' brand and reading from previous Yelp reviews, this type of unhelpful customer service has been going on for a while and continues! read more

Great service!! This is a small, neighborhood rental car location and Raphael provides excellent attention to detail and friendly efficient service. I feel very fortunate to be within walking distance of a place I can pick up or drop off a car from so my currently carless self can socially distance instead of taking public transportation. read more

Do not rent from this location!!!!! I wished I had read the Yelp reviews prior to my experience this past week. The other reviews about extremely poor customer service and added fees upon return are not exaggerating. Raphael phrases it that he is giving you a deal by only charging X amount extra plus taxes and that corporate would tell him to charge more for the cleaning fee. When questioned on how the car was excessively dirty he changed his answers multiple times and refused to go look at the car with me to explain his reasoning, repeatedly stating that they are going to have to wash the car before renting it (). Mind you the car when I picked it up had extensive exterior damage and sprayed with so much air freshener to cover the axe body spray smell we had to drive with the windows open the first day as I was told it was the only available option and other locations were already closed for the weekend. I will continue to follow up with Avis about the poor business practices and horrendous customer service. But want to encourage others to RENT ELSEWHERE! The initial savings in price compared to other rental companies is nonexistent once you get through with added fees and other charges that this Avis location finds to add. read more

We returned a car here with the gas exactly where we left it and the guy said it was fine but when we got our cc statement he charged us $140 for gas and a $100 one way fee! We are never renting from them again. We rented a car to take the kids on a fun drive through and barely used it. Not worth the headache! read more

Reserved an SUV 3 weeks ago, arrived on time today to pick up my reservation & I was told that the manager Rafael had canceled my reservation yesterday. Extremely upsetting to have a company just cancel my reservation without ANY NOTICE! The front desk person was not helpful & simply suggested that I look for a car elsewhere because this location was all out of cars for my reservation. Absolutely will NOT be using Avis ever again. Front desk made zero effort to try and locate another car to rent & the customer service 800# explained that I would have to pay today's rate (more than double the $$) to make a new reservation at the Burbank airport even though my initial reservation was canceled by Avis. Now I'm left without a car rental, stuck in Pasadena with all my luggage, paying for a hotel reservation that I'm not going to make it to & trying to find a last minute rental that will certainly cost more than twice the amount I was expecting to pay. read more
