Reserved a car via the Avis app (Budget and Avis share this location). Arrived at the pickup time and was told there were no cars available. Why make a reservation for a customer if there are no cars available? I asked Avis reservations this and they said the inventory isn't always updated quickly. Seriously? They don't have a computer that does that??? There were 3 other customers here looking for their reserved cars as well. While on the phone trying to coordinate an alternate location the agent told me they couldn't guarantee there would be a car at the airport location if they made me a reservation! WHAT? So you're going to reserve me a new car at a new location to make up for not having my original car and you can't even guarantee it will be there when I arrive. DON'T USE AVIS!! read more

If I could give zero I would Dave is by far the rudest person. I reserved my truck and car tow a week ago today they tell me the dont have the car carrier and we have to go to hammond in to get it. He wont even look at you or acknowledge you the truck was flithy and needed major work. Spend the extra money and do penske. Beware if from out of town. !You will get extra charges on your credit card for tolls (over the approved tolls), and then additionally your credit card could be given, as mine was to Il Tolls. My credit card was then hit with an auto replenish from IL Toll system ! Seriously ? How does a rental company allow a third party (not authorized) to have access to your credit card! Extremely friendly customer service, pick up and drop off couldn't have been easier. I highly recommend using this location. I went to Enterprise first because it was closest to my house an it was the worst experience I've ever had with a car rental service. I had to extend my rental due to my vehicle taking longer then expected to get fixed and I didn't have any issues going that either. Thank you for making everything so easy! read more

Great advice for you all out there: do Not rent cars from Budget Rent-A-Car. They do not maintain their vehicle fleet and they use their customers to pay for that maintenance. I used their services last month, a car that was supposed to be on unlimited mileage had the Service Light on after under 800 miles. The car exchanged had its Tired Pressure Light on after 15 minutes. The next car had a smoke odor (reported before driving off) and almost killed me on my way home. The tire exploded while driving on the highway on my way back. Note that I didn't drive on any dirt roads, only on highways. Now they charged me a roadside assistance fee when a state trooper changed my tire. First they told me they would refund part of my rental for my troubles and that I had to talk to another department to get that fee waved. Later that other department told me since I got money already they cannot refund anything else. Then they told me the charges were for smoking inside the vehicle although a note was on the rental file about the smoke odor at exchange time. Then they told me it was for services provided on the road when no service was actually provided. Then they told me it was for the cost of the tire. Not being able to know exactly what I am charged, for now they want me to wait while they investigate. Investigation duration? 14 days! Are you kidding me? I will tell you the results: I will still be ripped off at the end because a hole half the circumference of the tire is normal and is considered a normal flat tire. It always happen when you use perfectly maintained vehicles and proper asphalt roads. And of course having vehicle trouble 3 times on the same rental is normal. No doubt any extra charges billed are valid after such experience! Do yourself a favor and avoid them. read more

The only good thing about this place is the price. But it's frustrating to pickup and drop off here, we will most likely look into another rental place next time because of this. The wait is unbearable to pickup or dropoff sometimes; just unbearable. If you're going to make people wait a serious amount of time, at least have a T.V. or something like the boring mechanic. It makes you regret any money you saved. We always book online here. They usually only have one person working the front, so you're at the mercy of them and the people waiting ahead of you (i.e. it's going to take 30 mins.) Lobby needs a serious update: cleaning, tidying, anything! Very tiny selection of vehicles. This is the worst rental experience I have ever had. Not only did they not have the type of vehicle that I reserved, they made no attempt in trying to find a vehicle for me. I was told that if I rented the vehicle I they had for me (which was too small) I could go around to other budget rental locations and find the mini van I needed! I had a road trip to get going to ...um no. The manager there was like we have what we have and too bad. Then when I returned the vehicle they charged me extra for gas that what not missing! This place sucks I've rented from them twice the first time I reserved a mini van I got there they couldn't find my reservation and they didn't have the car I needed , I gave them the benefit of the doubt and rented a moving truck the second time I needed a 16 footer I called at 830 am my reservation was for 9 am I asked if the truck was there he told me no all they have is a 12 footer there is no communication at thus place if I did not call I would have went up ther and been pissed. This place is absolutely awful!!! I rented a moving truck on July 13th for a July 18th move. I received a confirmation email right away & then another one on July 16th. When I arrived to pick up the truck, I was informed that they didn't have any trucks available for me, even though there was one in the parking lot. They claimed they tried contacting me on the 17th & the morning of the 18th. My pick up time was scheduled for 9:30am, so that's not much notice. I never received any calls from them, even if they would have called, less than 24 hours notice is unacceptable when planning a big move. Not once did they apologize or offer any type of solution. Thank god for U-Haul which was right down the street. I was able to get a truck immediately & continue my move. Do I really have to give them 1 star??? They don't even deserve that!!! read more

Good evening, I am writing this message to advise of the poor experience that my husband and I had on October 31st at the location in Oak Lawn, Il. We reserved a pick-up truck online for 10/31 7AM, but were contacted on 10/30 and advised that our truck would not be available until 10am. I reached out to the location in Oak Lawn and spoke with David and was informed that our truck had not yet arrived and that he had no way of contacting the driver nor did he have a way to contact Midway Airport location, where the truck was originally. I asked if there was any way that David could reach out to another local branch and was instructed that he does not do that. I mentioned early in the call that I was near Midway and David suggested that I make a "blind trip" over there to check for a truck. I told David due to his location inconveniencing my husband and I that it seemed fair for him to do that leg work, but he quickly refused. Upset at how David spoke and his lack of assistance, I told him that I would do my own leg work since I was already behind schedule for a very important job. Approximately 10 minutes after I disconnected the call from David, he called my husband and advised that he had spoken with the driver and the truck would be arriving I approximately 15-20 minutes. We arrived around 20 minutes later and as my husband attempted to have his Credit Car run he was instructed that it was denied. Had my husband not rented a car and trucks in the recent past that would not have been a big deal. As a result my husband asked me to use a debit card, but since my wallet was recently stolen that was not an option so we decided to leave the Oak Lawn location, drive to my bank, get a debit card and cancel the one that was in the mail and go back to the location to try and have my info ran. As soon as David ran my information he quickly informed me that the info was denied and I too was unable to rent a vehicle. We inquired about the issues at this location and why this has not been an issue in the past rentals from Budget. David seemed very detached and uninterested in the situation and offered no solution but was quick to snatch off the Equifax number from near his computer and instructed us to contact Equifax. We were visibly upset as we spent the majority of our morning and afternoon trying to do business with a location that had NO interest in doing business with us. We decided to leave that location and as we were reading the information that David handed us, we noticed another customer's CC information on the back and it was hand-written, along with their handwritten zip code (circled), and even the CC expiration date. We quickly called into Customer Service to file a formal complaint and were advised that the information on the paper would be handed over to the Securities Department. As a result we wasted our entire afternoon, been given the run arounds and also denied service without a fair reason as to why. It is quite unfortunate that we have experienced this because the business we work for which is stationed here and in Miami we've never had an experience such as this, but I will be sure to share this experience and the skeptical business practices of writing customer's CC info down with the Better Business Bureau as well as local news and media outlets. Worst experience with this location being a loyal customer with Budget for years. Went in to return a car and to start a new reservation for the week. When i arrived the guy there asked what can he do for me, i let him know that i wanted to return my car that i got from Ohare but wanted to see if I could keep the same car since my reservation is to drop off at the airport. He said that was fine and told me he went ahead and modify the reservation. He said I was all set but never gave me a new contract. I asked him for the new contract and he stated fine. When i looked at the new contract i was being charged over $200 more which i asked him before if the rates would be the same and he said yes. I told him this was incorrect and he said that he was looking out for me with not holding more money on my card (really! but u want to charge me more than what i'm suppose to pay). After he tried to process the new reservation, he said well you were not suppose to drop the car off here or to pick up and you will need to get a cab to take you to the other location not too far from here, WTF! I told him that was unacceptable and that was not going to call a cab because he should have stated that when i walked in and he looked up my reservation that i was at the wrong location. I told him to give me back the car has i was not taking a cab. The lady there told him to just drive me there and come back, i went because i wanted to just leave. Upon entering the car, he drove off so fast that i nearly flew outta my seat because he did not give me a chance to get my seat belt on. I had to tell him to stop and asked him why he needed to sped off like that after i did not have my seat belt on plus he did not either! He just stopped the car, waited for me to put my seat belt on and kept driving, no apology. He then dropped me off and as soon as i stepped out of the car, he sped away so fast that the wheels screeched! Do not use this location, worst customer service you will receive and sneaky to try and overcharge you! The 1 he dropped me off at by the Sears Center on 95th in Chicago Ridge was great and very professional. I will NEVER EVER use the budget on 89th. Budget corporate needs to step in and train these people representing their name because it is not good! read more

I was in a recent car accident and trying to find a rental car for a few weeks went online to Avis (and budget merged) found a great price online went to call store to reserve over the phone the guy on the phone after I gave him the price on the full size car from the website said I should reserve it online and did not want to give me any other customer service than that. then I made the mistake to go into the store I had reserved a full size car Impala ( didn't check it they ended giving me a smaller car ) and since the insurance was paying for everything i gave them the claim number then they told me that at the end of the rental I just submit the bill to my insurance ( once again sounded fishy) I get into the car they had marked the invoice saying it had a full tank of gas ( it was just above half) and that I would be charged $250 dollar is I smoked in the car to clean it let me say the car was filthy/ garbage was left in it and it smelled like some one just got done smoking in it but I needed a car and it was almost closing time (Friday night) reluctantly I took it then Monday day received a call from my insurance company asked why I haven't claimed my rental they informed me that the company should have just given me the car without payment and that they handled everything finding this out dropped the car off ( after my agent found me another car) went to return it and for 4 days it cost me as much as if i had kept it the whole week so renter beware go through some place Else read more

Had a confirmed reservation for a van and when i arrived there they said they didn't have the van because they "may have gotten rented out the day before". Very unprofessional, very inconvenient and disappointing. I will be avoiding this avis/budget from now on. read more
