I rented a car at Akron-Canton Airport in Ohio on December 22 at 3 PM. I arrived at 2:30 PM, and the lady at the desk started to process my reservation but suddenly stopped and told me she couldn't continue because my appointment was at 3 PM and she couldn't do anything until then. I had to wait 20 minutes, even though there was no one else there; I was the only customer. When I returned, she was talking to a man (not a client), and apparently, I interrupted her conversation. She then began to behave very rudely toward me. Her response to all my questions was, "I don't know, ma'am; you have to investigate." She did not give me a tour of the car. She was going to give me an electric car, which I didn't ask for because I didn't know how to use it. She also failed to explain that the car had a damaged driver's light. I had to stop to charge the car multiple times, sometimes in lonely places where there were multiple risks. My trip, which was supposed to take six hours, ended up taking twelve hours, all because the lady held a grudge since she felt I had interrupted her. This caused her to refrain from helping me. Her behavior was unprofessional and rude, and I had a horrible experience as a result. Because of this, I will never rent a car from Hertz again. rented a car from this company through a third party. (I mention this company because I don't want in anyway to disparage the third party.) My very first impression of the company is not very professionally based on the pick up from Midway Airport. I was told Not to go to the car rental shuttle pick up but go to the curbside on the far side of airport arrivals. Very confusing as the traffic assistant was redirecting us to shuttle service. After calling back to the rental car service we were reprimanded and sent back to curbside... He later put me in a smoked out car with I refused to take them provided a red Dodge with bullet holes which he called minor. First off I did not choose to rent a car with them. Our Company Admin person used I think Orbitz for a midway Car Rental. I was given the info for my rental and saw the name and thought great... Going to have nothing but issues with this one. I really had none. The company name is probably a bad choice and horrible marketing if you ask me. I had a couple month old Nissan as my rental. Everyone was super friendly and went way above and beyond what the other chains have done for me in rentals. The only Negative I can say is they are not actually at Midway. You have a driver pick you up and take you about 5 miles away to the location. Overall everything was perfect and they were great to deal with and gave a solid car that was nothing like a Wreck. I had my rental schduled a few months out and the vendor I used to book the rental said local renters are find, but when I called the actual location they said they do not rent to locals and to cancel the reservation. So I found them on Expedia and they were the cheapest and I booked them. Then I noticed the many horrible reviews and I got worried. Then they surprised me they called me days before to confirm my rental and the women on the phone was lovely. We arrived at the airport and I called the number the lady provided days earlier and they were waiting for us already. A family of 5 with 4 large suitcases and 3 car seats. Yikes right. We got to the location didn't take to long. My mistake was I booked a very small car and we couldn't fit in it so then I got worried they would screw me now but the man at the counter was amazing he upgraded us to a midsize suv which was perfect and at the end only costed us $21 more then my Expedia price for a 5/6 day rental. My wife and I had a terrible experience with Rent-A-Wreck. We had chosen them because they were cheapest, which was a bad idea. We had some confusion about getting a ride there, but found a way there. But when we arrived, we found out that our reservation had been cancelled, which we had not done. So we had to re-book our car for $331 instead of the original $210 we had booked it for. They would make no accommodations for us. We also found out, as we were renting the car, that we were only supposed to drive the car within a 300-mile radius of the rental place, and that there is a 150-mile per day limit. This caused us to have to rent a second car for an additional $115, which we had not planned on spending and couldn't really afford, to follow through on our plans to visit our friends in the twin cities. The air conditioner was not working well in the car. The USB port to charge our phones also did not work. We will never go here again and do not recommend anyone else do either. They live up to their name, quite literally. read more

Sure wish their corporate gets it together. You rented us a car at a time the place wasn't even open! Alas, Derrick deserves the credit. He had left for the night and came BACK to work to help us. Derrick, you the man! Also, as an update - When we returned the car, Derrick personally drove Us directly to our gate via their shuttle - not the designated shuttle drop off. Booked an SUV through Expedia for a favorable rate only to arrive and be told that I had to "read the fine print" and that rate was only available with a plane ticket. Came prepared to spend $250 for 4 days ended up with an older model SUV with a dying battery for just under $400 that came with a $350 deposit because I have an out of state drivers license. I initially called because I had prepaid for a rental elsewhere but due it being a busy weekend, they gave the car away because I arrived late. Realistically, we wanted to save money...but does that mean safety doesn't come first? Before renting from this company I went to their company website to do some research. "Rent-A-Wreck", really? The name should have tipped me off but the explaination for the company name gave me hope that it was just catchy marketing. When we landed at Midway International Airport, per our print out reservation, we were told to call the office and someone would come pick us up. An unmarked car, and driver without a uniform, came and got us after reaching us on our cell phone. The drive was about 10/15 minutes from the airport due to traffic. When we got to our destination, we went over the basic paperwork, gave our $100 deposit and proceeded to do an inspection of the car that was pulled up for us. We walked around the car noting multiple scratches, dings and dents. Once in the car, and ready to drive off, a strong perfume smell tried to cover up the non-smoking policy someone had previously ignored. On the dirty/sticky side, we tried to keep an open mind about the next 5 days we'd have this car. In summary...the first day, the control panel on the right passenger door came up when my boyfriend wanted to control his window. The second day, the right windshield wiper flew off while driving in light rain. We wanted to return the car and get another one, but didn't want to take valuable time away from our family vacation. On the third day, the AC started making a loud clicking noise when first starting the car. Throughout the week, the car would "kick back" when trying to accelerate, eventually showing a red light on the dashboard. By the fourth day, it was just plain comical. We were thankful we left really early and were able to drop off the car on the last day of our trip. After waiting 45 minutes, we finally got a ride back to the airport with another disappointed couple, with just enough room to squeeze in our luggage. The worst car rental place ever. I reserved via AARP and expedia for 450. for a week (6 days). First off I was never picked up from the airport. I had to take an uber to the rental place. Then they charged me 653.00 saying that the 3rd party cant tell me what the rental car fees will add up too. The car was absolutely filthy, stank and the oil light was on. I took the car back the next day. The charged me for the day only which was $132.00. plus $200 deposit. They return the $200 deposit. But what happen to the $450, I prepared? DO NOT rent from this location. I was stuck at the airport for nearly 2 hours waiting for them to pick me up. I kept calling and was told the driver would be there in 5 minutes. Ultimately I had to end up catching an Uber to the facility. It was 11 when I got there and I had to get to the funeral home by noon to confirm my moms funeral arrangements. When we got the van at 11:15 it was filthy, stains on all the seats but I had to be at the funeral home by 12 which was an hour away. So we took the car with every intention of returning it. I felt I had no choice but should've refused the vehicle and just been late. But anyway I took the vehicle at 11:15 and found another car that I couldn't pickup until 4:30. I took they car back and had to pay $200 for a few hours. Rent another car so I had 2 rentals in one day. Had to argue with the manager who was very rude and acted like the car not being clean was my fault. Please do not ever ever rent from them. read more
