Honestly, I would not give this place even one star if I didn't have to. Like others said previous reviews, this place has gone way downhill. Unfortunately I think it has to do with management. We had a terrible experience a couple weeks ago and will not be giving our business again. We were seated quickly, but no waitress came to take our orders until 45 min after sitting down, and our food was brought out maybe 30 min after that. I would understand if they were busy, but it was not busy, maybe 4 families max. That wasn't the worst of it. When we got our billed, we looked over it and was mis charged about $60 more than what it should have been. On top of that, they tried charging us a $30 fee for holding our 6" birthday cake in their fridge while we were eating?! What is that? When I brought it to so called "managements" attention, she said promptly, "sorry I have to pay rent and electricity, we charge a service fee per person in your party when you bring your own dessert" That is wild. Will NEVER be back. Terrible food and terrible LAST experience. read more

This isn't a one time experience with Bud's. Food is incredibly expensive for low quality food. The service is pretty horrific as well, most recently we called ahead for a take out order, my dad shows up for pick up and waits for to be helped and even asks for help. He is ognored and then several people were served, waited on and helped, all while he waited. These people came in after him, I was on the phone so heard the background. There has been other times where we were sat and never even helped, I personally would never go here but being in a group and being out voted I figured I should share...each time is another version of crappy food and even worse service. I am giving a 2 star only because if Alicia helps us it is good service. Went for a late lunch and food was just ok. Clam chowder was flavorless and what seemed like chunks of flour. The 2 young men that were tending the bar never returned to ask if we needed anything and basically stayed near the cooks window. I thought was very odd. As a lover of the small town "Everybody knows your name" type feel I have become a big fan of Bud's Pub and Grill! I have yet to order a dish I haven't liked. And while all the staff I've encountered have been very polite and accommodating you must stop by and have a drink made by the lovely Maddie. You will quickly come to feel like your family! We came to this restaurant for lunch after a funeral service at the nearby Sacramento national cemetery. We were a group of around 20 people. There are two areas of the restaurant and we were seated at the back where they have a large dining area and it was possible to sit a very large group. The bathrooms were nearby and they were very clean. The servers were young and very inexperienced, but they were willing to help and nice. Most people in our group ordered salads or sandwiches. One of them had the steak, which was good and very soft, and I asked if it was possible to get some thing from the dinner menu which they said yes, and I was able to order the pasta Primavera. I also had the corn chowder and it was good and freshly made with red potatoes. They have a selection of beers on tap, and cocktails. I was also able to order alcoholic cider on a bottle. read more

I went to Bud's to meet a client and have a bite to eat. The funny thing is I've lived in Solano county since 1987 and I've never eaten at buds. Both of us ordered the fillet and I must say I was pleasantly surprised with how delicious and tender the cut of meat was. The service was great and the atmosphere is very friendly. The food was terrible. My burger was nothing more than a thin flat oval frozen patty with grill marks on it-didn't taste like the grill marks were from an actual grill. It was cold and so were the fries. Hubby had a BBQ Tri-tip sandwich-plenty of flavorless meat. Only the bbq sauce which came on the side tasted like bbq. We gave up on this place years ago and thought we'd give it another try. Will never go back. read more

Went here for lunch while in town buying a new truck. It was recommended by the salesman, and glad it was. Cool little place, right downtown. They were fairly busy, so it took a little bit to get seated and waited on, but we weren't in a huge hurry so it wasn't an issue. Ordered a BBQ bacon burger and my wife ordered a salad. The burger was AMAZING, but I was super disappointed in their frozen, out-a-bag fries. The fries sucked! Not sure why restaurants can't cut and make real french fries like In-N-Out does. Doesn't seem that hard to have fresh, great tasting fries. Other than that, the meal was reasonably priced and the service was very good! Highly recommended! My husband, sister & I came here last Sun for brunch. The place is made up of 3 different adjoining buildings. We asked for a booth so Justin sat us at the last one they had in the far left building back in the corner. Unfortunately, the acoustics in this building made it rather hard to hear each other, especially since there was a large party of drunk women talking quite loud. Justin took our drink orders, then another lady came by and took our food orders. My sister & I split the Chicken Salad sandwich & fries. Come to find out later they charged us $1 for an extra plate. My husband enjoyed his biscuits and gravy, & omelet. Prices here were a bit high for what you get. The only staff member that was nice was Justin. I met with a colleague to discuss some work related matters over lunch. Since Dixon is pretty much the halfway point we usually like to meet there. For this meeting we decided to give Bud's a try. The place is an old fashioned bar with a dining room. Since this was a business lunch, we sat in the dining room and drank iced tea and water. I will say the iced tea was very good, not weak and watered down! I ordered a French Dip w/pepper Jack cheese and fries. Our waitress brought me a small sample of the potato salad because I was struggling with deciding between fries and potato salad. I have to say that sample was super tasty, but I stuck with the fries. In retrospect I'm not sure I made the right choice. But I will say the fries were fresh and hot! The sandwich has just enough beef and cheese, and the au jus was perfect! My colleague ordered the BLT with avocado and French fries. He was happy with the food, too. Saw the reviews for Buds and decided to give it a try. Accidentally walked into the bar side first, but easily changed sides and seated promptly. The waitress was very attentive and always made sure our needs were met before we even knew what they were. I began with a Bloody Mary, good flavor but could use some bacon and a touch more vodka. With this choice, I had no other option to eat something savory. They had a special for $16 sirloin and eggs. My father got the pork chop and eggs, and my mother the honey cinnamon French toast. All were delicious . I like my potatoes with some herbs and a touch crispier, but I ate them all nonetheless. The steak was cooked perfectly! I don't usually go out to Dixon but this seems like a really popular place. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Even though they were busy, my food came out fairly quickly. The meat on my prime rib was soft and moist, and I ate everything on my plate! As for the atmosphere, this seems like a feel-good hometown staple kind of place. I can see why it's so popular with the Dixon locals. COVID-related review: If you're concerned about Covid, be cautious. Bud's is honestly really cute on the outside and inside (walked through going to their bathroom). I have only been here once, and it was for breakfast, but they seem like a great place for lunch or a drink too, as they have a full bar inside. The staff members were really nice, especially the older woman who might have been a manager. Either way, our drinks were often refilled, and we didn't need to ask for anything as everything was brought to us. My only complaint was that it was really sunny and we had to eat outside - but that's not their fault at all! Would 100% come back and visit Bud's for breakfast again. The end of the bar stinks. The employees know and it has not changed in months. Fruit flies are flying around. Which means that area really needs to be cleaned. The beer is on the warmer side to me. The steak bites are really good. I go back for that a lot. The service there is usually pretty good. It is definitely old school. The waitress we have was super friendly and attentive. Ordered the steak sandwich which was a garlic buttered roll and a NY steak. Nothing else on it like in pictures people posted. Perhaps inions and mushrooms were an add on? Still super delicious. My BF got the French Dip. That was AMAZING! This place has been a regular stop of mine when traveling to Dixon. I have heard from the locals it had declined. I had to see for myself. The food is not bad, but when the waitress messed up my order,she was completely rude. She forgot part of the meal and said it couldn't be taken off the bill but i could take it to go.
