Last month, the driver's side window on my 2004 honda element stopped working and dropped down into the door. i took it to a honda dealer for repair where they replaced the regulator for the window (apparently a fairly common problem for hondas). they fixed it, but it cost an arm and leg! so when my passenger's side window had the same problem this week, i decided to look for a local mechanic and Budtho had a 5 star rating across the board so i had to give them a try. i'm soooo glad i did! i took my car in this morning around 9am and was expecting them to have to order the part and tell me to bring my car back for repair in a day or two. nope! they said they'd get the part and have the car done by noon! they even finished early...11:35. and the best part is it cost less than half of what the dealer had charged me for the same repair last month. as for the people, it's a family run business and they were very sweet and personable there. i felt like they were very honest and very fair with their prices. and it just feels good to support small local businesses =o) read more

Adam, the owner/machanic is one of those rare honest guys in this business. He isn't the type to suggest to have things done unnessarily. He also does good work at a very reasonable price. I have had my brake done, oil changed, tuned up, cv joint replaced. I guess if you don't have late model cars that doesn't need the major work done at the dealers as it may void the warranty, this is the place to bring your car. I grew up in Eagle Rock and this is one of the many places I can remember who has provided great and honest automotive services. Since I can remember, my Dad has been taking his cars at this family owned shop for any maintenance or repairs needed. Seemingly, this is where I take any of my vehicles for such services. I always recommend this shop to my family and friends when the need arises. Location is a bit tricky since the shop is located behind a huge building (California Z Auto Body and Repair). Parking is very sparse because the auto body shop takes up much of the space. Adam, the main mechanic, is very honest and approachable. I'm not sure how he stays in business for long since he charges peanuts for labor. Compared to other mom-and-pop shops Budtho still has the best prices for quality work. I can attest because I've done comparison with local shops in my area. I reside in Simi and I would love to give the business to my local community but unfortunately, this shop has treated me, and others like family-- I'll continue to go out of my way and drive out to Eagle Rock for any automotive services. So if you're in the area (Eagle Rock) and need auto services, hit up Adam at Budtho Auto Tech. You can tell him I referred you. Budtho Auto Thec is the best auto shop in town! Honest, fast, and totally reliable. Very reasonable prices, actually pretty inexpensive compared to most places, and they don't try to sell you anything or charge you for something you don't need. Best of all, they really care about their customers. Budtho got me yelping, I was just a yelp bystander but I really wanted to give props to Adam and his shop! I didn't have cash one time (my bill was only $25!) and they have a minimum $35 charge for credit cards so I walked to my bank down the street. I used to take my Honda for yearly service at Honda in Pasadena and it always costed me more than $200. But when I came here, it costs me only $60 :) with oil change. I noticed their slogan is " Honesty is our Policy" and Tina, the manager and wife, told me that one of their long time customer helped them printing their business cards and she specifically put that slogan for them since she over heard other customers praised Adam, the mechanic and body shop owner, as very honest mechanic over and over. I also noticed other customers came by to give them gifts every time I came here since they appreciate the services so much. It is very unusual for Los Angeles area! Been having my Oil change done here for years, only Labor I bring my parts and got my Honda's Radiator Replace,Nothing Major. Got disappointed when I referred my significant other's BMW. Been skeptical about doing this since I have no Idea if they can Fix it. Went there and got it diagnosed, told us the part to buy & Corresponding Labor(Verbal). On the day were ready with the parts , I even went personally on my workday and confirm again his rate for the Labor , got the same answer . So I left my wife there and straight to work. 2 hrs later my wife is texting me , according to the Head Mechanic ,we have a wrong quote ,$24.00 more but paid $14 .Inspite Being on the dead end , just went with the flow. I have gone to Adam for ten years I think and he has saved me thousands keeping some old heaps running. Many times he has sent me away when I asked to have stuff done that he knew was unnecessary and twice he did jobs for half of what other garages estimated. He has done everything from replacing an axle to a transmission job and in between minor stuff like getting an alarming "check engine light" to disappear by adjusting the gas cap. You may have some trouble understanding their thai-nglish but they are honest and really nice people. read more

this was over a couple years ago . I would never go to Adam again . he replaced a clutch on my Camry . the seals were leaking all the gear oil everywhere which ruined my driveway. He made a big deal about the job which he did, he claimed my mounts bad so he change them & they are still bad . he was very rude & his wife was also the same. I would not deal with the stress they provide with the service. overall the prices are a bit high . I also had a battery cable changed on my mom`s volvo & he charged almost a 100.00 bucks for that job . Very pricey and not worth the time. read more

Best car mechanic I ever met. So many other mechanics would just steal my money, and because I'm a woman and know nothing about cars, they kept on pushing things (lying) that I didn't need. I had to find another mechanic urgently (interestingly enough I've found Adam on Yelp), because I didn't trust the old mechanics anymore (in Eagle Rock, but Adam is also in Eagle Rock, strangely enough, and I was willing to travel far as long as I found an honest mechanic, but Adam was in Eagle Rock as well). When a mechanic lies to you, you feel not only taken advantage of, you feel unsafe. Adam and Tina (his wife) are from Vietnam and truly the cutest mechanic couple. I called this place because of all of the glowing reviews on Yelp. The unintelligible fellow who answered the phone with just an abrupt "Hello" assured me, if I understood him correctly, that they were in fact Budtho Auto Tech after I had to inquire. I told him I needed a starter replaced and asked how quickly it could be done. He said, if I understood him correctly, that it took about 2 hours for labor and he could fit me in later that afternoon. So far, other than a language barrier, everything was fine. I arrived at the location at the predetermined time to be greeted by an older, equally unintelligible woman, who told me, if I understood her correctly, that they didn't have the part needed to repair my car and that I could bring it back the next morning. I got in my car and left without even responding to her. Hopefully, she understood THAT correctly. If I had known this at 10 O'Clock in the morning when I originally called, it would've kept me from wasting a whole day. Because, believe it or not, it's pretty F'ing hard to find a place that will take you at 3 in the afternoon. read more
