Always nostalgic for me as I grew up on Buena Vista Street in Arizona in my childhood house. Loved seeing it in Disney California Adventure (DCA)! Truly feels like the 1920s and 1930s when Walt Disney was coming to Hollywood to create the masterpieces we know and love today. Buena Vista Street is one of my favorite parts of Disney's California Adventure. It's the main entrance area of Disney's California Adventure Park and it immediately immerses you into the sights and spirits of Los Angeles in the 1920s! The street serves as the park's equivalent of Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland. You'll notice that the Red Car Trolley is now right in front of the entrance off to the right as soon as you enter for some photo ops! This location also has the most shopping stores in Disney's California Adventure. As you walk down the Buena Vista Street, you'll see Carthay Circle restaurant. It's a recreation of the Carthay Circle Theater where Walt Disney premiered Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937! This restaurant is one of the best restaurants at Disney's California Adventure and Disneyland. The menu also changes every several months! Last time I had the Carbonara and it was fantastic! Some of the other shops and restaurants you'll see in Buena Vista Street include the following Elias & Co (Shopping - Store) Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Café (Quick Service dining option) Clarabelle's Ice Cream Shop There is also plenty of photo ops at Buena Vista Street and entertainment too! Buena Vista is the first themed land that you enter at Disney California Adventure Park. It was designed to represent 1920s Los Angeles when Walt Disney first arrived there. There are no rides at Buena Vista Street, just shops and dining. There was a Red Car Trolley that would take guests around the front of the park. But it recently closed to pave the way for the Avengers Campus expansion. Buena Vista Street was once called Sunshine Plaza when Disney California Adventure Park first opened. I do miss the old replica of the Golden Gate Bridge that once was here. But I like all how it pays homage to Walt Disney's beginning years in L.A. Buena Vista Street is home to a couple of stores like Oswald's and Elias & Co. It also has a few dining options like Carthay Circle Restaurant and Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Café. I personally like Mortimer's Market because it has grab-and-go options like fruits and snacks. read more

This is your grand entrance into the park. Kind of like the red carpet into the park. Makes you want to just stroll...that is if you aren't with the opening crowd running through the streets to get to the section of the park you want to be in. It's a throw back era spot that echoes the height of trolley commuting and the start of the automobile craze. A walk down a typical street in any small town's commercial corridor. Like it's counterpart across the courtyard entry, it welcomes you into the park to make you feel like you are going to have a grand experience. The street is lined with stores that offer a mixture of items for purchase and throw in a few food stalls along the way. Caution while walking here as this is where the trolley traverses and you will hear the bell if you are on the street and it is in route. At times, this section of the park can feel like a blur. read more

Buena Vista is the main entranceway into Disney California Adventure, much like Main Street is the main entryway into Disneyland Park (though Buena Vista is much smaller). Merchandise and snack shops line both sides of the walkway, and the trolly does pickup and dropoff in this area as well. read more

As soon as you enter CA Adventure you are on a short stretch of road called Buena Vista Street. On this street the red trolley runs and you may even catch a glimpse of the mayor if you arrive early enough. The street has that art deco look with various fake storefronts going back to the period when Walt Disney first came to Southern CA. Take a closer look a the names on the shops because once again they have a correlation to Walt Disney himself. Elias for instance was his middle name and his father's name. Like Main St USA once you go in any of the shops they are primarily various souvenir shops and they are all connected inside so you may find yourself walking the whole length of the street from the inside. As you approach the roundabout fountain which is the street's terminus you will find the Storyteller's statue off to the left. The statue is a tribute to when Walt Disney first came to CA and has his pal Mickey beside him. This statue is a popular photo opportunity and photo pass photographers are usually here to grab a Magic shot with you. Near the fountain you will find entertainment throughout the day. I watched part of a retro show here and it was very good. Across from the statue is the famous Carthay Circle restaurant-(reviewed separately). Clarabella's ice cream shop is around the corner as you make your way towards Grizzly Peak. The fountain serves as your "hub" to get you to the different areas of CA adventure. Buena Vista street has a good retro vibe so you can get a feel for what it was like in the golden age of Hollywood. read more

As I passed the entry gates in Disney California Adventure park, I knew Buena Vista Street awaited. Unlike whimsical Main Street that overlooks Sleeping Beauty's castle in Disneyland, Buena Vista is more realistic looking of a bygone era. The street replicates the look and feel of 1920s Los Angeles specifically the Burbank area. I wasn't around then but that's what I've been told. However the man himself, Walt Disney, was when he landed in sunny California to begin his animation career in 1923. A statue of him, his suitcase, and Mickey stands at the plaza. The plaza is where the Disney characters stand and wave to the crowds. You can take a socially distanced photo with them, more like a selfie with them photobombing in the background. I saw Oswald, Clarabelle, Daisy, Snow White and Dopey. The street has gift shops, churro cart, and a Starbucks. When I visited Clarabells ice cream and Mortimer fruit stand was closed. Plus the red trolley was not operating. Fun facts: + A mini replica of the concrete Hyperion bridge spans across Buena Vista Street. Not only does it look neat, it was used for the monorail. The real Hyperion bridge spans across the Los Angeles River on Interstate 5. The modern concrete arch styled Hyperion bridge was built in 1928. Walt Disney was living in the connecting neighborhood of Atwater and was able to while the bridge was being built over a series of years. + The street is named for City of Burbank's city street were the Walt Disney studios was built. read more

10-1-21 As Main Street is to Disneyland, Buena Vista Street is the major thoroughfare at California Adventure. You must enter and exit the park on this street lined with shops and places to grab a bite. Since they host the weekly Oogey Boogie Halloween event they are decked out in orange, black and purple. Especially at night the purple lit trees are gorgeous. The most iconic building is the towering Carthay Circle restaurant for fine dining. If you can spare time away from the rides and spend more than your typical theme park budget on food, treat yourself for dinner here. It's a good place to people watch in their Disney logoed or character attire. Couples and families make the effort of wearing either Disney head gear, matching hoodies, t shirts, leggings and more. Even in the heat you'll catch a little princess in a pretty but non- breathable frock in the 90s heat of October. By noon you'll see and hear all the little kiddies that are not in strollers signal it is time for a nap or dip in a hotel pool. Love that there are benches on the sidewalks so you can take a load off while you enjoy a refreshing beverage to quench your thirst and rehydrate. Buena Vista Street will lead you to Avengers Campus, Hollywood, Cars, Pixar Pier, Grizzly Peak, Soaring and all the other attractions offered here. read more

With everything going on in the world with COVID, being able to experience Disneyland has been almost impossible. They recently opened up Downtown Disney and then Burns Vista Street (California Adventure). Parking is $10 and you can experience both locations. You literally have to park at Downtown Disney and walk through it to get to Burns Vista Street. While my wife and I had a blast taking in all the decorations Christmas decorations, the lines were definitely a pain although understandable. Lines to get in to Burns Vista, lines for Trolley Treats, lines for everything. Again, I recommend going to experience it once but expect to spend a lot of time here. ALSO, try to get there before they open at 10am so you can try and beat the crowds. Staff is friendly as always and the treats alone make it a 'treat' to come even during this difficult time. read more

Stylin in the 1920's! Buena Vista Street was part of the $1.1 billion expansion plan for Disney California Adventure. The plan also included Cars Land and Hollywood Land which has all been completed! The first time I stepped in Buena Vista Street, I was really amazed. Everything is set to give you that feel that you're in the 1920's. The theme is pretty much 20th century Art Deco. The whole idea was to represent the time when Walt Disney first arrived at Los Angeles during that decade. There's a small replica of the Hyperion Bridge as well in which the monorail runs through. Citizens of the decade are seen riding their bicycles here appearing to be confused as they're reading the newspaper. It's a fun sight to see. There's also the Red Car Trolley that takes you from the main entry of Buena Vista Street entrance to Tower of Terror. I haven't been on it just yet. I've always seen it pass through with guests on board. Performances include *The Red Car News Boys who take over the Red Car Trolley for a musical show *Five & Dime that fill the air with the rollicking sounds of classic jazz around Carthay Circle Some of the restaurants in Buena Vista Street include *Carthay Circle Restaurant *Carthay Circle Lounge *Fiddler Fifer and Practical Café and Bakery *Mortimer's Market *Clarabelle's Hand-Scooped Ice Cream Parlor *Trolley Treats Starbucks is here for your convenience. Buena vista street is amazing!! I am so glad I decided to go. When it first opened before thanksgiving, I heard the wait to get it was anywhere between 2-3 hours just because there is a maximum capacity in that area and also in each of the shops. Once you get into California adventure, you can go as far left as Off the Page and as far right as Soaring over California. So everything before that is open :) I have to give it to Disney. They did a fantastic job making you feel at ease. There were so many open tables, all spread out. They added a lot of seatings in areas that normally have nothing. This way you can get the classic Disney snacks like churro, corn dog, or turkey leg and enjoy them while sitting. I must say- I like this more than if the whole park was open. Because it's such a small part open, you don't feel like you have to rush to see everything and the vibe is just so mellow which is how Disney used to be before everyone and their moms bought passes. I really miss that feeling and buena vista street has it. No one is rushing you, no one is bumping into you. I went to the Starbucks in DCA that is usually crowded and I was the only person ordering coffee. I want to go back again but it's near Christmas so I think it's going to get a little more crowded. I did go on a Tuesday so I recommend going on a weekday. Parking is $10 but so with it because you park at simba and it's walking distance so you don't have to worry about getting in a tram with other people. I also like it because I have a stroller and getting on a tram is very inconvenient. read more

As you walk through those magical gates at DCA, your first few steps will land you on Buena Vista Street! Peer over to your left and you'll see the Red Car Trolley ready to transport guests from Buena Vista Street over to Hollywood Land. If you're lucky, you'll spot Mickey Mouse waving to all guests as The Red Car Trolley passes by at a slow, steady pace! The entryway into Buena Vista Street seems somewhat constrictive at times but, this is a good thing. Initially, the entryway is wide but narrows as you filter past the shops located along the way. Then as you emerge from this area, you'll feel like a swan about to spread its wings to fly away and explore the world. In this case, you'll have to make a tough decision as to which way you should go! Hmmmm...Cars Land, Paradise Pier, or Hollywood Land??? Decisions, decisions!!!!! As you saunter down Buena Vista Street, you are immediately taken aback by the beautiful, brightly colored buildings that house treats for people of all ages. Venture into their shops and you'll discover items that are not found within the walls of Disneyland. It's awesome to find gifts that are uniquely associated with DCA! You can't help but smell the goodies that Trolley Treats has to offer. After all, everyone knows that Disney makes sure that the smell of their treats permeate throughout the air to entice you to step inside and have an overwhelming experience! You really don't know which items to purchase because they're everywhere and they get better and better as you walk through the store! Disney characters are perched throughout various locations on Buena Vista Street. Therefore, you shouldn't miss your opportunity to pose for a photo with your favorite characters. Their lines are much shorter and move much faster when being compared to those at Disneyland. The characters are not dressed in their regular attire that you are accustomed to seeing on Main Street USA. They have a bit of that old Hollywood flare to them. Mickey sports a derby hat and a sweet pair of suspenders while Pluto, Chip, and Dale all wear newsboy caps! Buena Vista Street is a great place to anticipate your journey so be prepared to stroll along the pathway and stop to take in the beauty of the fountain the lies ahead. Apparently the police officer on Buena Vista Street likes to entertain guests, by giving me an "official good behavior citation ticket" for exemplary neonatal vehicle navigation. hahahha, I was freaked out when 3 cast members stopped me and then a herd of little kids screamed that I'm under arrest. It's like WHAAAAAT just happened. Anyways, they made me do a little dance w/ the stroller to show how great my navigation skills were, we got our citation and they gave us a mickey mouse sticker, and we were off on our way. My wife and I have been to the Carthay Circle Theatre lounge now several times and are truly impressed with the details within. We have met a handful of the bartenders and really enjoy their energy, knowledge and company as we sit at the bar. If you are lucky enough to go in while James is working take advantage of his "Curve Ball"; a special concoction of rye, honey water, and pear nectar that is very, very tasty. He is also probably the most fun bartender we have come across there, though like I said, everyone is very pleasant. I actually can not say enough good things about this place. In addition to the special drink there are also several period drinks and two "special" drinks with a round ice sphere involved. Go find out which ones they are and watch the magic as a brick of ice turns into a crystal clear ice sphere. If you read this, great job James!! read more

Finally was able to visit the new entrance to California Adventure last night and I was very impressed. Disney used a 1920's theme and it is very pleasing to the eyes. There is a number of stores on the street, Carthay Circle Theater (upscale restaurant) and a Starbucks coffee shop. There are also the usual cast member street performers keeping with the 1920's theme. One of the best additions is the Red Car Trolley, which travels from the entrance to the Hollywood Tower Hotel. The conductor gives you information on the new additions to Buena Vista Street. You could probably wander through the themed shops for hours looking over all the details. This is a huge improvement over Sunshine Plaza! read more

Such a great area in Disneyland. This is where you can come to get all sorts of shopping done in the park. Adam and I shopped at a few different stores and bought some ears and ponchos. You can purchase just about anything Disney on this street. We also loved watching the candy makers and enjoyed looking into the little food shops, especially the ice cream parlor. Overall, I suggest taking some time out to go to the different stores and check them all out! read more

The entrance to Disney's California Adventure is Buena Vista Street. Much like its sister Main Street, USA, Buena Vista Street is the first impression you get from entering the park. There is an air of familiarity, a sense of nostalgia, and the overall feeling of wonder. Modeled after 1920s Los Angeles when Walt Disney arrived in the city, the area boasts restaurants, candy shops, and souvenir shops. There's a red trolley which is modeled after Pacific Electric's Red Car Electric that transports guests from here to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. You will definitely pass through it on your way into the park, but stop and take a look around. You'll be amazed at the amount of detail they put into the area. read more

OMG! This New Buena Vista Street is Gorgeous! It reminds me of Main Street at Disneyland. I have been waiting for almost 4 years since the announcement to the completion of Buena Vista Street to check it out in person. I love the 20's era theme! It looks a million times better than the old DCA Sunshine plaza. It now feels like a whole different park when you walk into DCA! The best thing is that they have Starbucks coffee on Buena Vista Street. By the way, this is the first Starbucks to be opened at a Disney Theme Park. Recreating the era of Walt is awesome. I really love the old school Hollywood look and it is great to see Mickey and friends dressed to match the scenery. You can't help but feel like your in that old school era, and it really brings a new direction of Disney magic alive. While I may not spend all day on B V Street, it is still great to walk down it to get deeper into the park. read more

Keep your head up or the Trolley will get ya! There is so much to see and do along this street! The shops, the food, the characters, oh my! You will find the customer service center just off to the left upon entering the park and restrooms & lockers to the right. Take Buena Vista Street to the "town square" if you will. If you have some time, catch the Redline in as this is your first chance to hop on just as you enter the park. This is major improvement over the original layout and set up from the park's first opening. I do miss the old Golden Gate, but it was right call. read more

Buena Vista Street at California Adventure reminds me of home. Although it's a much smaller strip of the street, of course, and it only has one of the Disney Studios on that street in reality. It still lets off that special Disney aura that everyone knows and loves and is the gateway to all things California Adventure. If there's anything in particular that you are wanting or needing, chances are you will find it in one of the wonderful shops there. One of my favorites being Julius Katz, where I can find my pins and lanyards. They also have a plethora of clothing to choose from. If you want to run into any characters, be sure to look here. They're everywhere! Starbucks sits at the very end of the street next to Clarabelle's ice cream shop on the right hand side, because, you know, we all love ourselves some Starbucks. Also be sure to check out the amazing art that adorns the street as well. It really is spectacular! read more

I like coming here for my shopping needs over main street. It's less crowded and seems more organized. Main street just has too many people. I like that the stores are separated into different categories, it makes shopping so much easier. I also enjoy the cast members being younger. This is because they're faster pace, and easier for me to relate to when chit chatting. read more
