Service started off great with our younger male waiter being very attentive at first, but it slowed down significantly as our meal went on. By the end of our visit, I actually had to go up to the register to ask to pay. It was lunch time, and it wasn't that busy, so this felt a bit out of the ordinary. Despite the hiccups, I'm willing to give Morena's Mexican Cuisine another try, as it may have just been an off day. The chips and salsa, along with my daughter's burrito, showed that they definitely have what it takes to impress. I'll reserve final judgment after my next visit!

The fajitas were incredible, the meat was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor, with that perfect smoky sear that comes from being cooked fresh on a hot skillet. Everything came out sizzling and stayed flavorful with every bite. The chile relleno was also really good, with a nice balance of savory and slightly creamy filling that paired well with the sauce. It was actually my first time trying fajitas, and I can confidently say I'll be ordering them again the next time I come back. I definitely plan on returning while I'm still at UCR to make up for all the years I didn't know this place existed.

I had high hopes for this Mexican café, but unfortunately, it fell short in almost every way. From the moment we walked in, the staff was unwelcoming no greeting, no warmth, just a rushed, indifferent vibe. The food? A huge letdown. Everything was served in takeout foil containers, completely stripping away any sense of a true café experience. The café de olla a staple of any Mexican café was served in a to-go cup, not even a traditional clay mug that enhances the flavor and experience. The pan dulce tasted stale, like it had been sitting out for days. We ordered the breakfast torta, which barely had two eggs and came with burnt bacon. When we asked about the chorizo, the staff didn't even know if it was from a grocery store or a carnicería--which makes a massive difference in taste. The bread was soft to the point of being undercooked and doughy. The chilaquiles were another disappointment. The tortilla chips were clearly store-bought, and the sauce tasted like something straight out of a can. Instead of fresh, crumbly queso, they used some odd cheese that melted into a soggy mess. There was zero crunch, which defeats the entire purpose of chilaquiles! The biggest letdown was the overall lack of ambiance. A Mexican café should transport you, even just a little, to Mexico whether through the décor, the music, or at the very least, the presentation of the food. Instead, this place felt like a rushed, uninspired attempt at fast food rather than an authentic experience. Y'all can do better, and I sincerely hope you do. Right now, this is just another forgettable spot trying to pass as a Mexican café but missing the heart and soul of what makes one special. read more

I've visited Buenos Dias Coffee twice to try their strawberry matcha, and I really wanted to like this place--but unfortunately, it just didn't live up to expectations. On the positive side, the staff were very friendly, and the pastries I took to-go were decent. The aesthetic is also cute enough for a quick stop. I also tried their Azapan drink--it was just okay, but it ended up upsetting my stomach as well. However, there were a few things that really turned me off. I found out their breakfast is "made in-house," but it's actually cooked in a food truck outside due to limited kitchen space. That was surprising and honestly a bit off-putting, especially if you're mindful about food prep conditions. The biggest issue for me was cleanliness. The bathroom during my first visit was pretty dirty, and on my second visit, it was still in bad shape. Overall, the place just looked unclean and poorly maintained, which made me seriously question the hygiene standards. It honestly made me wonder whether proper handwashing and food safety practices are being followed while preparing food. As for the strawberry matcha, I'm not sure if it's overly sweetened or what, but it upset my stomach both times. Overall, while the staff are kind, the cleanliness concerns and overall condition of the place made the experience feel messy and unappealing. I had the most wonderful experience at this cafe and highly recommend it! First off, the ambiance is fantastic it's genuinely a cute cafe with lovely decor and great lighting, providing the perfect backgrounds for photos. The food was absolutely delicious; every bite was enjoyable. But the real star of the show was the Mazapan Latte. Seriously, it was fire! Perfectly made and incredibly flavorful if you visit, you have to try it. Beyond the great food and drinks, the service elevated the whole visit.
