We had a small backyard graduation party on Saturday and DH provided the food for my nephew and neice coming in from Santa Barbara. A variety of hardshell chicken, ground beef and shredded beef tacos, soft shelled 'street' tacos, cheese enchiladas (arguably the best in Riverside) beans and rice! It enhanced the celebration. Needed a taco fix and Dos Hermanas fit the bill. Ordered 2 potato tacos, 1 asada taco, 1 shredded beef taco, and 2 tostadas on Door Dash. All of the tacos were tasty and I enjoyed the shredded beef taco the most. The potato tacos were hard shelled and got a bit soggy on the bottom (maybe from the salsa on the top?) The sides of the taco was nice and crisp. The asada was tender but was a bit salty for me. The shredded beef was amazing and loved the amount of toppings on each taco, especially the cheese! The tostadas were delicious and the beans were excellent. We enjoyed their red salsa which was blended, had a great flavor, and the perfect amount of spice without being overly hot. Overall, we really enjoyed Dos Hermanas and will be putting in another order soon to further explore the menu. read more

This place has a lot of good reviews so I had been wanting to try it for a while. It is definitely NOT a located in a nice or safe area. If I would have been alone with my kids, I would have turned around and not gone. Either way, I still tried to eat fast lol The inside wasn't nice. And there was no ac so it was really hot even though it was cold outside. BUT the lady who took our order was really nice and helpful. So I appreciate the good customer service. I had the enchiladas. They were good, not bad, but I wouldn't go back for it. I could get that same food anywhere else. Overall, glad i tried it. read more

It was amazing, the atmosphere was amazing workers were extremely sweet..- we came here for Mother's Day because madres brunch took too long! 60 minutes while this place took like 10?! Zero ambiance. The outside needs to be cleaned. Dirty parking lot & dirty tables & floors inside. They were busy when we stopped in. My chicken tacos were good but nothing exceptional. The reviews made this place seem like the stuff that dreams are made of. Could not be farther from the truth. I ordered two soft shredded beef tacos, a cheese enchilada, and rice and beans. I ordered take out and it was ready a few minutes after I arrived. The place needs some TLC for sure. It seemed dirty and unkempt. The food: The soft tacos were terrible. The beef was so dried out and had ZERO flavor. I couldn't even finish the first one, let alone try the second one. The beans looked like they were freshly dumped from a can. Not creamy at all and again, zero flavor. The rice was practically white rice no yummy onions or garlic or tomato anything. The cheese enchilada might have been good if it didn't have packaged cheese. Always fresh grate! Within minutes I was in the bathroom. I won't return. read more

Hubby had the #7, which is 2 shredded beef tacos served with rice, beans, and small salad. He enjoyed them very much and ate everything.. said he would definitely order this again. The asada Street tacos were also very good. The beef was tender. No fat or chewy pieces! Hooray! I added cheese. The rice and beans tasted authentic and were also good. The parking lot is a bit small, but there's also street parking available, so it's manageable. The menu is full of classic Mexican dishes, and my go-to favorite is the California burrito--great size and price! I really like this Mexican food restaurant! I've been here twice and have been pleasantly happy with the quality and quantity of the food. My first trip I got a carne asada burrito to-go and it was good size and good taste! My second trip I tried their taco Tuesday deal which was $2.50/taco. I had shredded beef and ground beef hard shell tacos. Both were amazing but I loved the ground beef much more! Their salsa is pretty tasty with a nice heat to it. The indoor dining area itself is very classic and old school with padded booths. It's clean inside from what I saw and I loved the simple classic vibe of the interior. I found this place through DoorDash and I have loved everything I have tried so far. The meat quesadilla is on my regular reorder list. It is well made and delicious. University Avenue always looks best when at least half of the buildings are occupied and especially good when a new restaurant replaces another. Dos Hermanas is a classic Mexican restaurant that isn't a regional specialty but executes their fare quite well. In fact, and this is an honorable comparison, it reminded me of Pacos Tacos in San Bernardino near Cal State. By taking over where Kichimichanga left off (they moved up the street to University Village), Dos Hermanas gained a large parking lot and two ways to enter or exit the lot. The inside hasn't changed much from the previous occupant and the electronic menu board has been programed for the new menu. Colorful signs hanging on the walls announce daily specials, and extra menu items. It's spacious and clean, with lots of big booths. A few tables out front allow dining outside too. The wonderful gal took my order, a #7 lunch special combination featuring two tacos (I chose shredded beef for both), refried beans, rice, and a salad with a dollop of thousand island dressing. I grabbed a booth and didn't have to wait very long before the cook brought my meal to me. I noted the big bottle of salsa rojas and how good everything looked on the platter. Clearly pride went into the meal! Everything tasted great too. I loved the fresh fluffy rice that had texture and moisture but didn't clump. The beans were smooth and delicious, covered in melted cheese. The salad is shredded iceberg lettuce that goes perfectly with the main attraction, the hard shell tacos. The hot sauce is spicy and I love it! I probably used a third of the bottle too. Those tacos though, delicious. Well seasoned shredded beef moist but not dripping, and whatever they cooked it in gets my Pacos Tacos prize for most excellent execution of tacos. I'll be back! Perhaps a burrito next time? Or something more adventurous. Either way I'm confident it'll be as fantastic as today's lunch. It's a lot of food and I couldn't finish all the beans and rice. read more

The Heranas dinner special has no description on the menu. It is an enchilada, a tostada, a taco, a tamale, and salad. You pick what meat for the enchilada and the taco and I got pork for my enchilada and ground beef for the taco and the tamales is beef. Taco was good! It was crispy and their salsa was good with it. The salad came with thousand island dressing without any choices but it is sweet. I would recommend to ask for it without any dressing and to add their salsa instead. The enchilada was ok. Pork verde was tough meat. The beef in the tamale is good but the masa is hard and a bit dry. The tostada is simple but delicious. I have gone back again for the tostada because they are on special for &1.50 on Mondays! Seems like they are busy. Everyone is nice. read more

She probably should have sent it back, but since we were in a hurry, we didn't bother. On the positive side, my daughter had the carne asada burrito, and she said it was excellent. Service started off great with our younger male waiter being very attentive at first, but it slowed down significantly as our meal went on. By the end of our visit, I actually had to go up to the register to ask to pay. It was lunch time, and it wasn't that busy, so this felt a bit out of the ordinary. Despite the hiccups, I'm willing to give Morena's Mexican Cuisine another try, as it may have just been an off day. This would be a great item in the winter, but it was to die for in June, too! While there, I had my first experience with horchata, and it was SO good! Rice, cinnamon, and condensed milk blended together, strained, and served over ice is an incredible combination. I think I'm now hooked on horchata! The horchata was made in-house like the salsas and the tortillas, and you can really taste the freshness of all the ingredients. This isn't gringo Mexican food -- it's the authentic, real deal. The restaurant was taken over in May from old owners, and the Mejias have knocked it out of the park! I saw people coming in at a steady stream the entire time we were there. Many were picking up orders to go, and some ate there like we did. They close at 7 p.m., so come after work or at lunch and enjoy a killer meal. I'll bet this place will be jumping during the World Cup matches. They have several TVs in the seating area, and I heard there are plans to get an extra-large TV for just this purpose. We really enjoyed everything we ate and drank at Barbacoa El Jefe, and we'll definitely be back. It's a great addition to downtown Riverside and should become the new neighborhood hangout. I love to see local businesses thrive, and this place deserves to be supported by Riverside residents. We came from Redlands, and it was well worth it.

She probably should have sent it back, but since we were in a hurry, we didn't bother. On the positive side, my daughter had the carne asada burrito, and she said it was excellent. Service started off great with our younger male waiter being very attentive at first, but it slowed down significantly as our meal went on. By the end of our visit, I actually had to go up to the register to ask to pay. It was lunch time, and it wasn't that busy, so this felt a bit out of the ordinary. Despite the hiccups, I'm willing to give Morena's Mexican Cuisine another try, as it may have just been an off day. The chips and salsa, along with my daughter's burrito, showed that they definitely have what it takes to impress. I'll reserve final judgment after my next visit!

I was just handed a burrito with rice and beans, and that was it. What disappointed me the most was the lack of customer service. After explaining the issue, there was no offer to remake the food, no refund, not even a partial credit just a "that's weird." Overall, it did not live up to the hype at all. Between the dry food, missing ingredients, and lack of resolution, I don't feel like it was worth the money. I was really hoping for a better experience.
