I love this store. I always find cool stuff and although, it is generally harder to find XL's; I still manage to find stuff I like - sometime it's 50% off. It's a great place to have around the neighborhood. I bought some shoes the other day and they forgot to take off the anti-theft device and when I told them about it after leaving, I got a $5 coupon for any follow-up purchase over $20 = nice folks. I give this place 0 Stars. This is the third time I've been in there and now, I seriously, refuse to ever go back. The staff is rude, disgustingly biased, and unprofessional. The customer before me selling clothes back had pissed off the girl so she took it out on my selling. She ran through the pile and rejected it and gave me an ever so sly smile. I asked why she rejected the whole pile full of AMERICAN APPAREL CLOTHES NOT WORN, and she said it was because they were old...yet the girl who was two customers before me sold a whole pile of american apparel dresses. I waited 45 minutes for an unprofessional evaluation and insufficient explanation. What's funny, is that they interrupt you're transaction to help "paying customers", so one lady buys something, and is short TWO DOLLARS, and the woman ringing me up said, "oh, don't worry about it, just yelp good things about us"...well I looked at this places' yelp reputation, I was going to bash it, but it obviously doesn't need any more. I really hope that the girl who told that person about yelping is reading this right now....that'd be pretty sweet. I love the buffalo exchange on haight and when I went to this location today, I hated it. I went around 630 so I didn't have to pay for parking. I had to wait 20 minutes for them to sell/trade my clothes and the lady who helped me passed on everything I had, didn't even take the time to look through them even though I'm damn sure the items I had were their style because i've been selling to them for a while now. I guess to them, "fashion changes every day". The workers were snobby and they think they're "know it alls" when it comes to style and fashion. One female worker didn't even shave her underarms. Nasty. Anyways..i was whatever when they didn't take any of my clothes and I looked around to find stuff to buy because whenever I go to BE, I have to leave with something because I did not drive all the way to the city and leave with nothing. It basically took me an hour and 30 minutes to find stuff that I liked. Whatevs. Hopefully I'll change my mind next time I pay a visit to this BE. Or when they decide to get better workers. Yes, it's a chain. Yes, there are multiple Buffalo's in the city. But this is different. This one is better. This one is my favorite. As a lower hater I would sooner trek to the mish to this Buffalo Exchange than just dash up the street to the Haight Street shop. Now I'm not saying I don't hit up the Haight Street shop all the time, but the Valencia Street is my favorite. I've added 4 pairs of Miss Sixty jeans to my wardrobe. I've added a ton of cute vintage dresses to my wardrobe. I've picked up shoes here and there. I've tried on several cute Betsey Johnson numbers here (although haven't found the right fit). I was able to find jeans here when I was a fatty. As less of a fatty I still find an awesome selection. read more

When you enter a store and most of the items seem extremely warn out and the buyers do not accept most of the staff (stood in line long enough to observe them), it is pretty clear they are selling from the donation bins. Would never give them more business by leaving my items there, Salvation Army is not that far. If you are looking for something unique, there are better stores in the area. read more

I like this place. I always find nice things and the people are nice and the dressing rooms are nice. Nice all around. In my experience this is one of the better ones. Great selection! One on the employees saw me with an armload of clothes and offered to take them over to the fitting room for me. Which was great, especially for my s.o. as he was about to be given the job of holding batch number 1. I tried on 10 things and ended up getting two plus a pair of earrings. Given how picky I am and short, and well etc. 20% purchased is actually very good for me. Plus the jeans I got looked brand new and for under $15 (they were on sale) I felt like I found a really good deal, especially since I always need hemming. Loads more I would have gotten if it happened to fit me. I didn't bother with dresses this week, but I saw one I liked in the window as we left so I might go back next weekend to sift through that section. read more

The new Buffalo Exchange in the Mission is finally open! It's a little smaller than most locations, which I fear will become problematic once the word gets out. The size also seems to limit selection, although I still didn't have any trouble finding something to take home. I read some reviews before taking my clothes into sell, and I was trying to go in with an open mind and an un-biased opinion. Unfortunately, I had the same experience as some of my fellow Yelpers. Yes, I know I am not very stylish, but I still have some decent clothes that I thought someone might find interesting. Not according to Buffalo Exchange...to be fair, I did take my clothes to Crossroads first, so they bought most of the designer items. But still, I felt judged and very uncool as the manager scanned through my clothes, turning her nose up at most of the items. But it's fine; for the deals I can potentially get, I'll continue to suffer the 10 minutes of embarrassment for the possibility of some cash in hand. At Buffalo, you have to wait while they look through your clothes. I wish they had something similar to Crossroads, where you can drop off and come back 24 hours later. As far as the buying goes, the selection here is limited, and I never seem to find nice items or shoes in my size. A lot of the shoes on the shelves look really beat up. I do have to say that I like the way their shoes are organized though - easy to see what's available in my size. Overall, not thoroughly impressed with this location. Since it's in my neighborhood, I'm sure I'll be back, but Crossroads will definitely be my first choice for selling my old clothes and buying new items. read more

After popping into a few other vintage/consignment boutiques (SF, I'm just not as hip as you) I was psyched to find some great pieces at this Buffalo Exchange. The best we're a pair of barely used Merona (target brand I think) loafers that I got for a mere $4.25. The staff are friendly without being overbearing. read more

I feel that this location has more selection of clothes that I would normally gear towards. As any thrift-type stores, it definitely takes some time to look through a number of clothes to find what you like. This location is organized and easy to find and I like that this place doesn't get too crowded. read more

My favorite Buffalo. I don't really like the one on haight. But this one is perfect, close enough so I could go any moment I like. And this is the only thrift store i sell at. Went in just to notice the store is clean and well organized to be a resale shop. Most of shoes were new and they had a few designer goods. First time I shop spent $109 next time came in with a few goods I only one sold out of 15 items. Oh they did ask me did I want to donate some of my goods I politely said NO Thank you! Went toanother retail resale shop and they bought every Item. One stores no is other stores YES! I enjoyed that about five people ask to help me at Buffalo Exchange. I give them A+A+A+A+ on customer care and service. The Manager Chris was a pleasent personable guy we liked him. read more

I fell in love with BE the second I walked into the East Bay location. I just was going to SSU and could never trek there. Fast foward 2 years; now I'm a city girl. I'm out exploring and discover the BE in my area of town. Sweet sassy molassy! I go in and look around; decent selection. I'm a jeans and t-shirt gal so I have a lot to choose from. The fitting room people are nice even though I can see they are sizing up my coolness factor. I find some stuff and take it up front only to stand there for 15 minutes while the girl behind the counter talks to some hipster douchebag. I would say if you can ignore the air of self-satisfaction which engulfs this place, you should give them a try. read more

The staff is really friendly, and the clothes are trendy and really nice. I got a north face parka for $60. They have a lot of designer stuff in there for cheap, London Fog trenchcoat for $25 and cotton/nylon jeans for $20ish. I didn't buy those because of fit. read more

But what really makes the Valencia BE stand out from the other use/vintage/consignments is because I actually LIKE the staff. I spent a lot of time lugging a lot of stuff (probably about 40 pounds of stuff) and they didn't take anything and I had a lot of designer goods - tory burch, coach, etc. They had a line and basically didn't take anything from anyone - maybe they had too much inventory or something. I always considered Buffalo Exchange to be Crossroad's dirty, less-attractive cousin, until I visited the Valencia Street location. Wowie wowie! I'm a brand name whore, but too stubborn to buy new - I prefer the hunt. You can imagine how thrilled I was with my new lucky jeans to show off my badonk, and a timbuktu bag to get me through my bikefull existance. Not only was the selection great, but the people working at the store were great as well. They actually seemed to enjoy working there - no rolling of eyes at my enormous pile of clothing to try on, only smiles. read more

I've been to the Buffalo Exchange on Haight, and I like this one much better. I came here to get rid of some of my old clothes. They only took a few items, and not for much, but oh well. There's a great selection of women's clothing here (I didn't really peruse through the men's clothing). Nice selection of dresses, jackets, tops, and denim. The place is clean and well organized, and the staff are friendly. I'm not a regular at thrift and consignment stores, but I do enjoy going every now and then and finding something awesome someone else didn't want. Some consignment stores have stuffy and unfriendly staff, even though some of the items they have are crappy. But not this place - folks are nice and I didn't feel out of place. read more

Creme de la creme in terms of thrift as far as I'm concerned. Yeah the prices are high but you don't see as much name brand stuff at thrift town as you do here. I came across some semi-new Penguin and Volcom shirts and some cool T's, cheaper than new, but only slightly. They have the best fitting rooms I've seen at a thrift store also. Good selection, very friendly staff, great hours (open till 8pm!). Used clothes at a bargain. And they do have a wide selection for M sizes (usually the most depleted size in any clothing store). Some articles may be slightly past their prime. But the return policy (store credit for returns within 7 days) is as good as it gets for this type of business. read more
