We discovered bed bugs in our room on the first floor. When we alerted the front desk and spoke with Nona the on duty manager she was rude and disrespectful. Her first response over the phone when I called the front desk was, "we have not had a complaint of bed bugs in that room" and then she said since there was only one that I saw, it probably was not a bed bug because there are usually more" We asked to have a bellman come up to get our things so that we could leave. Nona offered us complimentary breakfast. We politely refused her offer. When we came down to the front desk we were waiting to speak to Nona while she waited on other guests. When she was done, she did not even come over to speak to us, she sent the bellman to hand us a note to speak to the General Manager in the morning. My husband and I felt extremely disrespected by her, in addition when I went to the desk to get a receipt she addressed me as "honey what can I do for you" Sorry Nona but I am not your honey.....I am Mrs. Snead thank you. I suggest Marriott send Nona back to Marriott school for some additional management training. Thank you to the courteous bellman who helped us get our things out of the room and who also confiscated the bed bug and took it down to the front desk to confirm to Nona that it was indeed a bed bug. There were two bellman on duty, we send our sincere thanks to the African American gentleman, I wish I had gotten his name. He was so kind, helpful and sympathetic that it was after midnight and we were leaving out to check into another nearby hotel, having a funeral to attend early the next morning. That gentleman deserves a promotion in my opinion maybe he should be managing and Nona should be carting luggage. read more

We stay at the Buffalo Marriott whenever we visit friends and family in the Northtowns. It is conveniently located. The rooms have been recently updated in the past year and are large, spacious and comfortable. The mattresses and pillows are consistently comfortable and, for me, a very impressive and important factor is the high quality of linens and towels. No well worn, threadbare towels or sheets here! The staff is always friendly and helpful. Starbucks is available in the lobby and the restaurant is convenient for friends and family to meet for breakfast or a snack. The rooms have small refrigerators for leftovers and drinks. And last but not least, free wifi and parking. Best of all the price is comparable or better to the 3 star hotels in the area (thanks Priceline!). read more

Very nice hotel! I stayed here for a week on a business travel. It has very nice amentities. If you workout then this hotel will definitely meet your needs. The gym in the hotel is great! All the equipment is new, there's lots of treadmills, bikes, elipticals, etc plus lifting machines. Another plus is there are tv's on all the equipment. There hotel has a nice indoor and outdoor pool. Didnt really get to enjoy either of these,but wish I could've! Unfortunately you dont get complementary breakfast unless you are on the 10th floor. I was luckily, but for the price you pay for the hotel, they should include some sort of continental bkfst. Also, they charge your for internet, which is lame unless again you are given a complementary code. Since I was on business I was on the concierge level, which gives you access to the lounge on the floor. Personally, I liked this perk because Id come back from work and have water and little treats to eat. Altogether the hotel was very nice. The location is ok, there are a few restaurants across the street. About 15 minutes outside downtown buffalo. The hotel is on the pricier side, but your do get some nicer amenities you don't always get at other hotels. I would definitely recommend this hotel. read more

Not the nicest marriott. You can tell it is old. Old signs, dirty in the back exits of the hotel. Missing do not disturb sign. Refrigerator In room was missing all shelves, did not cool the best. Plugs would barely hold anything from phone chargers to flat irons. My bed had a dip in it. Full length mirror inside closet door was small. One wash cloth. I would never pay regular room rate to stay here. Just not what I expected from a Marriott. read more

The hotel was gorgeous and the stay was great, but after I checked out and paid in cash($225 for both nights) I found a $407 charge on my card! Then they could not fix the error, and were not very accommodating in trying to correct the error! Never again will I stay at a Marriott, just because the minimal effort in trying to correct the error was inexcusable. read more

Stay one night March 09, 2014. I have stayed at plenty hotels and this hotel was very satisfactory. I agree to the other reviews that the layout is a little different in respect to the desk and the elevators but that isn't a major complaint. The pool and work out room were great and the hotel has it good in most areas. I had a difficult night sleeping due to the rude guests talking and running down the halls. Every time any room door shuts it does with a loud boom. I would suggest adding something to dull the noise. Also, frequent rounds by security to monitor late night activity. I do not recall ever having such loud neighbors and wonder if it is partly the hotel thin walls or the gap under the door. BTW: the hair dryer is in the closet in a black bag out of sight. The breakfast doesn't begin until seven on Sunday. I waited with around 10 folks for the breakfast buffet to open. Other than that, nice place. read more

Very nice place to hold formal events. The room is large, lots of tables, bars at each corner of the room, and delicious food! mm mm good. After a rough start to our trip (getting bumped from Hilton Garden Inn Buffalo to a new hotel because they did not realize they overbooked almost a year prior), one of our group found this gem. The hotel was beautiful, nicely updated, with comfortable rooms, a lovely bar and sitting area, nice pool and hot tub and large exercise facilities! The bonus was that the team we were rooting for in the Frozen Four were also staying there! Our group were all placed on rooms next door to one another, making it convenient to visit. If ever in the area, I would definitely stay here again. read more

I have stayed here twice now. Its an okay hotel. Average cleanliness, good location, a bit high priced. The bathrooms are way way too small. Barely enough room to turn around (not a joke) Seemed much noisier this time around. There is a strabucks in the lobby, but they do not take your starbucks card. Also, they rarely smile. The location is very close to highways, but you do not hear the noise of a highway. Rooms could have been cleaner, but were not gross.Buffalo received several inches of snow during my visit. It would have been nice if the plowed or shoveled, as I felt like I was constantly walking through knee high snow. Not sure I would stay here again. read more

The room was very nice and very clean. The housekeeping staff was really great. However, the front desk staff was exceptionally rude and unhelpful. I have never interacted with a less hospitable hotel staff. They guaranteed an early check-in for 2 pm, and when we arrived at 2, they told us not only was the room unavailable, but refused to call us when it was. They yelled at several guests, and didn't attempt to hide scorn from their voices when special requests were made. One staff person yelled at one of our parents for bringing in food to eat and eating in an unmarked hallway. This person was so rude, that several kids cried, and my own child asked to change hotels. Several families had reserved rooms with double beds, only to arrive to find they had been given a a single king bed, these families had 4 or more people and were not given enough sleeping space. The hotel staff never apologized but instead told families it was just too bad and they could do nothing. They hotel was fully booked, so was busy, but the bookings were not a surprise, and the rudeness was uncalled for. I will never stay here again, and I encourage everyone else to find another place to stay. There are many lovely hotels in the area. This is not one. read more

I enjoyed my week long stay at this Marriott. The hotel continues to be maintained well and updated as needed. The staff is friendly, efficient and helpful. I was amazed when I watched from my window, two Marriott employees shoveling the sidewalk and THEN cleared the snow from every vehicle in the parking lot!!! There had to be some happy guests when they saw that nice surprise. This is my third visit and I would definitely come back. read more

Nice hotel. It's what you'd expect from a Marriott. It's pricey for Buffalo, but I had no issues with the stay. One caution...the elevators are VERY far away from the front. I felt like I walked a few city blocks to find them. I guess I could have driven to the back, but... AS the other reviewers said, my room was also very narrow. They had two beds, and there wasn't much room on either side. They squeezed a chair by the window, and there wasn't even a foot of space in front before it hit the bed. I have no confidence in getting a feather free room next time without making a stink, but the mgmt here was very apologetic and worked to make things right. Original post: Never ever can get the reservation right. I can't sleep on feathers. Feathers close my breathing passages. It's not a preference, it's literally life or death. Why do I have a profile that says "feather free", a reservation that specifies "feather free", a mention at the front desk that I need "feather free" only to get to a (tiny) room with feathers? Was happy with my 2 stays here. Pros: nice, large, clean comfortable rooms, good but pricey breakfast buffet, good location for UB and shopping, friendly staff. Have been staying there for 3 nights already and already felling like home. The hotel staff are very friendly and want to help you anyway they can. The bar was elegant and is a good place for groups of people to gather together. The rooms aren't too big but you don't feel like being in a small room either. Perhaps, the nice design helps a little bit. I also liked the free wifi. I have booked the room directly from the hotel's website itself but you may be able to book it via other websites as well. All together, I'm a happy guest and would go there again. read more

Peter I am unclear why your response has anything to do with children. If you read my review, there is no mention of children. ADULTS were treated terribly by security and management. Ok, The beds were comfortable, the staff was very friendly, however not trained well as "Professional Hospitality service" people. They were just people / bodies hired to fill positions. When I called a day before, the staff was unable to tell me the route number of the highway that the hotel property was located, Rout 263, by the way! Marriott cancelled a reservation on us, Leaving two couples out in a severe rain storm, after driving over 300 miles that day, on MOTORCYCLES, expecting to have a reservation....and the rain was a severe storm. They stated that they notified us, however no notification was received. Later, their story was changed to "We over-booked". We were almost left out on the street due to their lack of professionalism. Marriott Corporate had nothing to say, except that "The customer must have canceled the reservation". There were no other hotels in a 50 mile radius that had rooms, and the Marriott does not have a policy to keep a few rooms available for unexpected emergencies. The Hotel owner/franchisee refused to take my calls, after a form letter was sent to us, and closed with "Here is my phone number, please feel free....." This hotel chain is living off of an old reputation, and has failed to achieve any form of excellence since the year 2000. read more

I have been staying in almost nothing but Marriott brand hotels since I was a baby. I have lived in them multiple times between moving to new states or new cities. I was married at a JW Marriott. My parents have done the same currently residing in one since December while their new house is renovated in Boston. I was even at the one in Port au Prince, Haiti in April and this is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere yet... This was by far the worst hotel I have ever been in. They have zero customer service skills, allow for the endangerment of children, do not restock their food at breakfast buffet, do not restock towels in the pool, are ride at the front desk no matter how routine or odd your request, they will not do a single thing to accommodate you unless it is the July 4th female night manager (she tried to fix multiple issues), the staff lies, they are condescending, I was called a bad mother to my infant for putting her in her crib while putting laundry at the door, they lock the doors exactly at check out and don't tell you so if it closes behind you you can't get back in even if you haven't checked out, they allow for people to not wear clothing and expose themselves in the pool area without repercussions, it's unbelievable. I will never stay at this hotel again. We had two rooms for our family over three days all on executive platinum whatever card points and they still didn't care. Then when I was given the card to open the door back up it didn't work and when I called the girl at the desk laughed at me. Aka she did it on purpose. I can say that my room was always very clean and the bathroom staff woman in the main ballroom hallway was sweet as pie. That's it. Corporate was informed and was amazing about remedying the situation. The police say they are there regularly. Sad. They are part of my whole life and this one was my baby's first vacation my first and only biological child (two step kids) What a bummer. I have no words now. read more

While the hotel was fine, this is really more of a comment regarding one of the Marriott's employees, their shuttle driver, Gary. During our week's stay, he was upbeat, positive, and helpful. We call the Pacific Northwest home, but Gary made us feel at home here, steering us to Duff's, Anderson's, Wegman's, and Rizzo's; all the best of Buffalo. The Marriott is fortunate to have an employee like Gary, who really cares about the guest's experience. I don't know if I'll ever need to come here again, but if I do, I hope Gary is still here. read more

We recently stayed here on a business trip, and the hotel's staff was wonderful! The Hotel was crowded with young sports teams, and the head of Security, Chris, was very diligent in making sure every guest was safe and comfortable. Extremely expensive dining, no food vending machines, was charged for things I did not use and managers never returned my calls. Insane price of $20 to rent a movie and for the prices they charge per night a continental should at least be included.I also was told there would be a mini fridge in my room and brought snacks and they spoiled and was unable to bring my leftovers from my expensive dinner. read more

Awful stay, which is a shame because my family and I have been staying here for years whenever we come visit family in Buffalo. As I kid, I remember enjoying the indoor-outdoor connected pool and the beautiful layout. Our most recent stay we noticed the divider to the indoor-outdoor pool was in place but there was a sign that said the divider can be removed at guest's request; so I called the front desk and was given a pathetic excuse as to why they didn't want to remove it.. After a call to corporate office, the issue was fixed and the pool attendant was nothing but rude about the whole ordeal, which should never have been an issue in the first place. The spa/whirlpool was also not working; we were told a part was due in that day or the next, but we were told that on day one of our stay and were there for 4 days and it was still broken on the last day. Room service took over an hour; we were told it would be a 20 min wait. We tried to get lunch at the restaurant one day but the waiter was so busy as he was the only one working, he suggested we go elsewhere for a quicker meal. There were ants and spilled food in the pool/spa area on our last day. Rooms were tiny. 10th floor had a concierge but was closed on the weekend. The only redeeming quality is that the hotel and rooms are overall clean. read more

If you want to be treated like a human, please don't stay here! This is a warning. I travel to Buffalo every weekend for work and me and my girlfriend were treated like absolute garbage by the staff. We walked in and immediately a man named 'Vik' started coming at us with an extremely negative and condescending tone. He then proceeded to tell us to f*** ourselves among many other insults when we were just asking him to talk to us like a humans and not a bad child or something. The reason for this? We arrived after after check in time. Me and my friend both work until 4am in the morning and we were unaware that there even was a certain check in time. We paid for 3 days in advanced by the way and this is the first time we had stayed there. We have stayed at many other hotels and this was NEVER a problem. But yet 'Vik' proceeded to tell us that any hotel in the world would not let us check in at that hour when it was simply not true. He belittled us and said we would be charged for late check in. My girlfriends card was already on record and then he commanded that we give him the card info for damages. Obviously we spoke to a manger about our terrible service. It is honestly sad because the hotel was beautiful but the service was so bad that I would have rather stayed in a one star hotel on the worst side of buffalo that had bed bugs. That not even all of it. We told the manger about our experience and she promised we would not be charged the extra fee and she will look into the malicious things that 'Vik' had said. We get back to our home and on Monday they charge my girlfriends card another 70 dollars on top of the 250 dollars we already paid. She calls them obliviously again, and they told her that we only paid for 2 nights. We did not, we paid for 3 nights and told her that, we have the credit card records to prove that we paid for 3 nights. When we stated that she changed her story and said that it was just a hold on the card and we would be refunded in 5 business days. I guess we will find out and I will keep you guys posted. This was the worst service I have ever had. We left feeling like garbage and emotionally scared. We will NEVER be staying at this Marriot again. I guess that is too bad for them because that would have been an easy 12,000 a year for these people. I am posting this as a warning to anyone who is thinking about staying here, because nobody should be treated that way, especially for 320 dollars. We will take our hard earned money to a place that actually appreciates it. On that note, the Centerway in Tonawanda had great service and we will probably stay there again the people there were extremely nice. I guess moral of the story is sometimes because a place looks nice does not mean it is worth the emotional trauma the the staff will put you through. read more

WARNING BRIDES-TO-BE: Read your contract CAREFULLY! My fiancé and I reserved a block of 20 rooms for our upcoming wedding and the saleswoman that we spoke with was so friendly and accommodating that we encouraged all of our guests to stay at this hotel. Specifically, the woman told us that she would monitor the block and add rooms as needed as long as it was prior to the deadline. NOT. We found out from our guests that the room block was full, and when we called the Marriott they (1) refused to add rooms, (2) included the two suites that we booked - for FULL price - within the room block contract and refused to take them off the block to make room for our guests, and (3) stated that to accommodate our other guests they would be required to book TWO nights at $190+ per night. Worse, management told us that allowing room blocks is a "public service" and that they can "sell out every night if [they] wanted." This behavior is disgusting. Reality check: It is BUFFALO NY. Our recommendation: book your room block at the Courtyard nearby. Rooms are renovated, customer service is excellent (and honest), and you're essentially in the same location. read more
