He came to our table maybe 2 times even though he saw all his other times at least 4 times each before coming to us. He took away my food that I was not done with and had barely touched. I always love visiting Tuscaloosa and when I do, I have to make a stop at B'Phils! This was/is my go to jam for the best food in town. I love the atmosphere and food here. I had one night in Tuscaloosa, so I thought I would just walk down "The Strip", and see what was going on. Even on a summer night, the bars were pretty rowdy. Buffalo Phil's looked like a pretty good place to get my grub on. Buffalo Phil's is the typical college wing bar. The beer is mostly mainstream, the clientele consists of bright colored polos, oversized fraternity and sorority shirts, and high shorts for males and females. The wings are VERY small for some reason. Not that that is a bad thing; it made for very crisp, and juicy wings, as they were probably cooked quickly. Fairly unique in texture. I ordered them very hot. Heck, I saw unmixed chili powder at the bottom of my thick sauces. You choose a sauce for heat preference: in a spectrum, from Mild up to XX-Hot. I could not tell the difference between my X-Hot and XX-Hot. You also pick a flavor which is your typical flavor. I went with the sweet chili, and the chunks of chili added a nice effect to the sticky sauce. I really liked the Crimson BBQ. It was a mild honey mustard-like and rich. The high background heat index was awesome. Buffalo Phil's is pretty mainstream, but it is the local wing spot, and it has that necessary football paraphernalia and "local favorite reviews" that are required in a college town. I got a chance to check out Buffalo Phil's while in T-town visiting a couple of friends - not bad. The atmosphere is straight college bar, which is great when ya just wanna chill and have some good grub. It's like cheers meets Saved By the Bell - The College Years, but not as lame. lol The food's pretty good, with a variety of typical bar/restaurant-mesh offerings. I tried the Monteray Chicken sandwich w/ fries and onion rings - all great. It's a shame I didn't discover that the place is supposed to be known for fantastic wings, otherwise I would've given them a shot too. But, at the very least the chomp I had will be enough to secure another visit in the future. Unlike the previous reviewer, my friends and I had great service (Misti B). Our waitress was attentive, cheerful and pretty accommodating to our friendly ribbing from time to time. And looking around occasionally, it seemed like the other servers were busting it to get their tables serviced as well. But in his defense, like he mentioned, it's a college town and service/your experience could truly go either way. lol So, I'm almost certain I'll be back to try the wings here, after visiting Mugshots for a burger the size of my house of course. The wings are the saddest little baby wings I've ever seen served, they looked more like they were serving squirrel wings . Cheap, cheap cheap ! Cheap fast food, basically. You get what you pay for. The only reason I ate here was because during undergrad I had "dining dollars" on my University ACT card, and B. Phil's takes them. Be serious, guys, that's the only reason students come in here - NOT because its better than any other place in town. The $5 wells on Thursdays are awesome, and the weekly live music is good. I went to Buffalo P's with my son for a "boys nite out". I can certainly understand why this is such a popular spot with the college crowd. It is near the campus, has a relaxed sports bar atmosphere and cheap beer. I had wings which I found to be small and somewhat over priced, My son had the Country fried burger which is just what it sounds like, a burger patty, breaded and fried then served as a burger. Came here to watch the beginning of the SEC Championship game last Saturday. So it was packed and rowdy! just how i like it! I ordered the 8 pc lemon pepper wings. It was dry rub; my fav. The wings here are on the smaller side but once you get over that, they really aren't that bad. My favorite thing to get is either the fingers of fire or the winger combo. This restaurant is a " Seat yourself" style restaurant so finding a table can almost get competitive bc there are two doors from which you can enter so you are often trying to find an open table before the other side does. The food comes out super fast so that's a plus along with students being able to use Bama Cash as a method of payment so it doesn't feel like you're actually using your own money. It can get busy during game days and durin any major sporting event so be mindful of that. read more

After spending a long day doing interviews on campus, my coworker & I were suggested to give this place a try for dinner. There aren't that many options on campus that are more sit down style places. They have a pretty large menu, but the food is just not that good. It came out very quick, which means that it wasn't made fresh - and it was basic processed food. The sauce was the only saving point of the wings for me. In addition to that, there was something strange going on behind the bar...the bartender was making what I figured was their signature drink in a large vat. Every time he emptied a bottle he slammed it so loud that it shattered in the trash can (8 bottles in a row!!!). He looked angry...and it was very disruptive. Set up is a bit confusing and unclear. Came on a Saturday and there was no hostess and it wasn't really clear how you get a table. After several groups walked in after us and swooped in on tables as people were leaving it was clear that we had to be more aggressive. We were able to get a small table by the bar as soon as the people there got up. The table wasn't even clean yet which was a bit disconcerting but apparently this is what you do there. I got the chili which was delicious - meaty, filled with beans, very hearty. Could've been a little spicier but there was hot sauce on the table which did the trick. I got an order of onion rings too which was huge. They were well fried and very crisp. I enjoyed them. My friend ordered chili and a grilled cheese combo. She enjoyed the chili as well but we were also completely finished before her grilled cheese even arrived. It was clear that the waiter forgot. Once it came it wasn't even anything special - just plain white bread and yellow American. A bit disappointing. Oh well. Overall fairly good experience. read more

I used to hit this place over 20 years ago in college for drinks and wings. So, the wife and I decided to stop by on a Friday afternoon for late lunch on the way through town. Either my tastes have improved drastically or this place is just living off name recognition. I had the fingers of fire with tots which were both cold and stale. The wife had wings with fries and the wings were pretty good. Her fries suffered the same cold/stale fate. The ranch dressing was probably the highlight of the meal. Service was pretty good. I asked a friend familiar in the area on her take on this place and she was spot on. It fulfilled every need that I had at the moment and I was happy with my experience. You're in a college town so expect what ever your imagination wants. We walked on in and sat down at the bar. The bartender came right on over with menu's for each of us. I was looking for a stout on tap, but the bartender recommended to me something similar. It was a Scottish ale and I was impressed to say the least. Very close to a stout in my opinion. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak with curly fries on the side and my friend ordered chicken quesadillas with a side of vegetables. Can't skip out on your greens kids! The sandwich was good and there were plenty of curly fries to fill me up. The bartender was very accommodating to my friends allergies and the price was average as well. This is only getting 1 star because there's no option to put none. We were having a great time until we started getting harassed by the waitress (Allison) who also had an ongoing attitude, and couldn't apologize for being wrong about her accusations. If you have an issue, don't worry about getting it resolved by management. They could care less too, they still mentioned tipping Allison after harassing us! Not to mention the fact that her service was extremely slow and the food wasn't as great as they claim. I have been there several times, but after tonight I would rather go to Zaxby's than go back here. The service was awful. After my boyfriend spoke to the manager I can see why the service was so awful. She seemed like she couldn't care less about the customer's experience and all around had an awful attitude. At the end of the night I felt like my boyfriend was the one who deserved a tip, since he had to go in and get pretty much everything but the food. I did not receive a single refill the whole night considering the server only came out to take orders and for checks, after my boyfriend went in and found him. Wing size is laughable, they are tiny baby wings, smallest I've ever seen, but man oh man oh man is that sauce good. Best wings I've ever had.
