Ok...... buffalo riverworks.... it's very spacious and clean looking, great for groups and a fun place to go with friends. The menu to could have a little more variety to me. I got a house Salad and it was very good and a nice size. I got bacon stout dressing . We got the clams, almost waited a hour for it and it was like 5 of them. It wasn't packed at all when we got there and it didnt get packed while we ate, so why it took so long I have no idea. The waitress was good when she showed up. She didn't make little stops to say that our food was on the way or anything, or come back to check up on us. The clams themselves were mediocre to me. I really wish it would have been better. Came out to watch the amazing and entertaining Queen City Roller Girls last night. After the game my friend Dale and I decided to get an appetizer and have another of the their house brewed IPA's. We decided to be adventurous and ordered the ahi tuna nachos. The presentation was gorgeous! Crispy homemade HUGE chips, sliced cucs, grated carrot, a mound of freshly shaved ginger, condiment cup of diced avocado and a cup of wasabi mayo, all surrounding a beautiful mound diced ahi tuna. I loved that you could build your nacho to your liking to make the perfect bite. This was a stellar dish and the citrusy IPA was a perfect pairing. Can't wait to go back to see those derby girls and enjoy this appetizer again! read more

Stopped in here on a kayak outing in the canal. Did not have my phone so I couldn't check in. One of the stars is for the great kayak ramp to access the restaurant although you need to lift the kayak over the railing because the design doesn't allow for a large object to take a severe right angle to the deck. The other star is for the food that was actually good. Everything else was horrendous! I realize this place is very new and some concessions need to be granted for that but our experience was an absolute sh*#t show. The hostesses..there were several ..were all rude and very discombobulated . When they couldn't figure out where to seat us at any of the several open tables outside we said we would just sit at the bar area. She said we could sit at the tables near the bar area as well but order from the bar...great. We sat down and were approached by a waiter? Asked what beers on tap..none cuz too new..ok..what do you have in bottle? Oh just basically the Blue stuff..Blue and Blue light..oh..ok I'll have a blue light. 10 min later he throws a beer menu at us with several options I would rather have than a blue light but doesn't stick around to allow us to change our order. 10 min later still no beer. We decided to abandon the table idea and sit right at the bar. We told the bartender we left a table, had ordered beers that we no longer want, pointed out the waiter from afar. Bartender made half ass attempt to correct this but came back and said yeah..I couldn't find him. We ordered food and beer at the bar...that bitchy waiter hunted us down and served us our beers that we didn't want and handed us a bill. When it came time to pay we handed our bartender both bills ..bitchy waiter came rushing over and hovered over us making sure we payed his bill for the 2 beers we never wanted separately because it was his tab..and you wanted a tip? Here's my tip....customer service..be nice not rude, take the drinks off our bill that we didn't want and took us 30 minutes to get. The bartender took both bill to the manager to ask and he said we have to pay. This place needs a lot of work . I have a lot of patience with a new place. It takes a while to get organized but for God's sake be nice to your customers. I have never been met with so much rudeness and inefficiency. read more

The atmosphere is super cool and the decor is great but I can't stress enough how disappointing the food is. I played it safe and got chicken wings because you cant screw those up (I thought) and my fiance got the chicken sandwich. I've seen school lunches serve more appetizing sandwiches. I hate saying that because I LOVE the place and don't wanna talk negatively about it BUT also my chicken wings were served cold and my sauce choice wasnt honored lol I just got bbq not the chipotle like I requested. Lastly, the most upsetting part of the visit was the 8 dollar caramel apple cheesecake. IT TASTED LIKE THE INSIDE of a refrigerator. Definitely freezer burned. If I'm gonna pay 8 bucks for a slice I expect it to be fresh. Just so disappointing BUT I will say our server was lovely. Overall horrible birthday experience at riverworks. read more

Let me start by saying that I have been to River Works several times in the past and loved the food, and atmosphere and had gotten good service. A friend of mine was in town and I decided to take her there, to get the Buffalo vibe. I had a 5:00 reservation on Saturday. When we walked up to the hostess station, we stood there for at least 2 minutes (no other patrons were nearby), while the 2 hostesses looked at their devices. They never even looked up to see if anyone was there. It wasn't until my friend asked if they were hostesses that could seat us, they said yes and proceeded to seat us. Then, our food was so-so, again, not the quality that I have had in the past. I hope Buffalo River Works isn't going down hill because it has been a great place to eat near the waterfront, in the past. read more

Awful experience from start to finish, but let me tell you why: The size of the facility is massive yet completely lacks cohesiveness. There are very few signs or indications of what's what, where you can/can't go, etc. Even their sign near the road is so small it's very easy to miss. But, we didn't come for the ice rinks, rock climbing, etc. We came to eat. Upon reaching the restaurant, we were told it would be a 1.5 hour wait to sit outside but that we could be seated indoors right away. We opted to dine inside yet still ended up waiting 15 minutes for the staff to push two tables together for the six of us. Our server, who was friendly and attentive, took our orders shortly after being seated. Specifically, one of my cousins ordered the Beef On Weck while I, having Celiac Disease, ordered the gluten-free Shrimp Margarita Pizza. We sat and waited for our food to arrive. After an hour and ten minutes, however, we had run out of patience. Though our server checked in on drink refills twice during this time, she didn't say what was taking so long or apologize for the extremely long wait. What really baffled me was that, as I gazed around the restaurant for over an hour, I saw countless employees standing around, chit-chatting with each other, and checking their cellphones. If the kitchen is so backed up and there aren't enough servers for half of their tables, why aren't the labor dollars being put where they're needed instead of towards these excess employees, who apparently have nothing at all to do? Finally, over an hour after ordering, our food arrived. Well, MOST of our food arrived... One of the food runners brought over my pizza on a separate tray, initially leading me to believe they take dietary allergies very seriously. This impression was completely false. As the server placed the pizza in front of me, he said, "our chef wanted me to let you know that, though your pizza is completely gluten-free, we do not have a dedicated gluten-free fryer. The shrimp are fried in the same fryer as everything else, so... I'm not sure how sensitive to gluten you are..." I responded, "I have Celiac disease; I can't eat it." He and my server stared at me like deer in headlights before asking if I wanted the chef to make another pizza without any shrimp. I replied, "and wait another hour for it?!? No, thank you!" Adding to this fiasco, while this was all happening the server told my cousin that they were completely out of the Beef on Weck he had ordered. We were in complete awe. Why on earth would these people wait over an hour to tell us that, unless we chose something else, two of us wouldn't be eating?!? Though our server was very apologetic, I explained the fault lies in the lack of communication from the kitchen, and that I wanted to speak with a manager right away. I watched her approach her manager and explain what had happened. It took another five minutes for the manager to come to our table to speak with us. After telling her what happened, the manager now also offered me a new pizza. I told her that four members of our party were already halfway through their meals and that I would not hold them up waiting for a new pizza to be made. She offered no explanation for the mix-up and agreed that these errors were completely ridiculous and the sequence of events made no logical sense. She apologized and applied a 25% discount to the total bill. (To be honest, I thought this rather stingy for having not one but TWO major meal errors... but we thanked her, paid our bill and left quietly) Buffalo RiverWorks is biting off far more than they can chew. Their main focus is size when, for now (and until they get it right), it should be on service. Rather than investing in ice rinks, roller derby and rock climbing, they should be perfecting what they have first. The size and lack of cohesiveness alone was enough to detract us initially... the dining experience ensured we wouldn't be returning anytime soon. read more

It's a great place. A lot of space for different events for sports etc. we had to wait for at least 15 to 20 minutes for a table for dinner on a Friday night. We couldn't figure out why because we did see a lot of empty tables. When we finally got to our table and had the waitress come up to us and asked for drinks. All we ordered was water and took almost 10 minutes for the water. Any way we figured we should order. I ordered the lobster bisque and a chicken sandwich. My friend order the watermelon salad with shrimp. Well around 15 minutes later she came up to us and said our food will be here shorty. I said can you at least bring out my soup. She said oh oh yeah. Duh. Well they brought it out with my sandwich. The food was good but the service wasn't so good. Why are the tables so far from the kitchen? Why didn't they put the tables closer to the kitchen? The layout is just weird. I would recommend this place if you are doing a happy hour. read more

Been here many times and have had a good meal and drinks, but this time was bad, asked for extra crispy wings, came out chewy and didn't taste fresh at all, Pizza was just ok, wifey got the chopped salad and.. it wasn't even chopped just a regular salad, chicken was dry, even the napkins that our silverware came smelled like kitchen grease.. it'll be awhile before I spend $65 for that service again!! read more

Nice looking place, very cool concept. I love that it is multipurpose. You'd think that a place like this would be more community-oriented being that it can be functional for all kinds of events, but it feels inaccessible for lower income folks. The pricing is VERY expensive for food and drinks, especially if you are paying for it on top of your ticket to whatever event they're hosting. Also, I recently attended a concert here that was relocated to River Works from an outside venue. They charged for parking even though the parking would've been free at the previous location. It was irritating considering that River Works has ample parking space. read more

I like Riverworks for music and environment, but for food service it was the most inefficient experience I have ever had. Over 10 empty tables. They told us 30 minutes to be seated. After 1 hour we finally got our text that our table was ready, and still was over 10 empty tables. We already left after being quite aggravated! I will never attempt to eat there again. The ambiance was awesome, the food was disappointing. Wings were bland and tasted like it needed to be seasoned not just tossed in a sauce.

So much potential at a great location currently being squandered by poor management. We arrived at 6:15pm and were told it would be an hour wait. Understanding that staffing is low right now and anticipating the beautiful river view, we decide to wait. Well, we waited! We remind them we're waiting at around 7:30, but get seated INDOORS around 7:45. If we had known, we never would have come here. We came to eat outside. We could have eaten better elsewhere much earlier. To add insult to injury, we waited another entire hour for food. A two and a half hour wait for not great food, stuck inside the warehouse. Meanwhile we're watching other parties getting seated and fed and leaving all around us. I get that they are short staffed, but they should have turned us away at the door and we could have enjoyed the lovely evening elsewhere. Apparently we didn't rate getting service at this place. Despite the amazing venue, this staff seems to not want this place to survive. read more

Came here for dinner with my family and overall it was pretty good! We ate inside while roller driby was going on so it was pretty noisy with the loud music and the bar. Everything about the atmosphere was good except the service was on the slower side. I just got a basic Caesar salad and it was very good. I would recommend it but I think eating outside would be more enjoyable. read more

Riverworks is so dope!! I have been to many events here, each one more interesting than the last. This place is HUGE with many different areas for activities. So much room for activities!! They have concerts, ice rinks, multiple bars, a restaurant, a beer garden, zip lining, and I think there is talk about a helicopter tour business potentially being offered on the grounds. Everywhere you turn, there is more to be explored. Their bathrooms are very large and accommodating to huge amounts of guests in the venue. I've never eaten from their concession stands, but the food always smells heavenly. Last weekend, 3 friends and I attended the Rise Against halloween 90's party with an open bar and late night buffet. The costumes were hilarious and very dope. It was the most fun I've had at Riverworks to date. I have been to about 4 or 5 events at Riverworks and intend to attend many many more. Riverworks, I salute you! read more

This review pertains to the bar and complex. We did not have anything to eat there so I can't comment on the food. This is more of a 3 1/2 star review which I will explain. The facility itself is very impressive. It feels like someplace we would have possibly visited on vacations in tourist destinations, something rare in Buffalo over the years. There are several bars on premises and plenty of seating inside. They had a nice selection of craft beers made on site, they were all very good and reasonably priced at $6 for a pint. It was a Sunday afternoon and there was a very good band playing at the beer garden that had comfortable Adirondack chairs with drink holders. Very relaxing out there. I deleted a star because the parking situation was highly annoying. When we arrived around 1:30, there were parking nazis at the main lot insisting that we park in the auxiliary lot next door, although there was plenty of open parking in the main lot. They claimed it was all handicap parking which was BS because there were spots being vacated by clearly non-handicapped people and the spots were not adjacent to the building. So we go park at the lot next-door. Then when we leave at about 4:00, the parking nazis are all gone and our car was one of about 3 cars in the auxiliary lot. I'm glad it wasn't dark when we went back because it seems a little sketchy in that remote parking lot when there are no other cars or people around. A totally unnecessary annoyance arbitrarily foisted on some, but not all, customers for no good reason. I would have rated 4 stars if not for the absurdity of the parking situation. read more

This was our first time at Buffalo Riverworks and we are so disappointed! Two of the people in our party of 12 received their dinner and the rest of us sat from 8 to 930- an hour and 1/2 without our food. We ended up going to management and they asked us if we wanted to cancel our orders! The server just kept telling us our food was coming,etc. but finally we found out the orders for 10 people never was put into the kitchen. I went to Riverworks for a concert. I didn't eat there so I can't rate the food just yet. But as a venue, it's a cool place. It's literally right on the water, to the point that you could ride your boats over and park. The sitting area wasn't anything special, just fold out tables and chairs. Your on the other side of the river so you feel secluded. Next time I go there I'll have to try the food, to see if it anything to yelp about. read more

You can't beat the view and atmosphere at Riverworks. It's the best of industrial landscape meets nature. The food was okay. The kids serving of chicken fingers was like an adult sized meal. The lobster bisque was great but didn't have chunks of lobster which to me is the best part. Service was great though and they had a good drink selection. RiverWorks is an absolute gem in the Buffalo area. The whole complex is structurally very interesting, with tons of activities, shows, and food options. The location is right on the water with amazing views of the skyline and the silos! The staff here were extremely accommodating of our large group size. We enjoyed our dinner at the Ward (BEST chicken wing dip!) and then headed out to the Biergarten for some music. Great atmosphere, reasonably priced drinks. We danced our hearts out and reconnected with friends. This place is 100% Buffalo! We look forward to coming back to have a go at the zip lines and rock walls! read more

First off, cool venue. Everything is still clean and new and it looks really good. Security at this show was ridiculous (in a good way though!) You couldn't go about 15 seconds without a security guard or cop passing you and anyone that was disorderly or violent was removed nearly immediately. There was also a few EMTs in a small glass room when you first enter, safety (or feared of getting sued) seems like a big deal there and I can appreciate that. Full bar and the bartenders where cordial. My only complaint is that the first guy who ID'd my friend and I couldn't read. My friend and I are over 21 and have ID's that confirm that. At the door, we showed this dude our ID's, he read them and we both got the black "X's" for the under 21 year old's. We didn't try to argue or say anything out of fear of him not letting us in. Once we were in the venue, we had to find a different security guy, explain what had happen, check our ID's again then (during this he asked us when a series of questions regarding our ID, like birthday and address) and then gave us the "Over 21 armband." 11:15 Thursday , the day of this posting .. Place was dead , it was early .. First time here ,Food was average which means "good" in buffalo , service was lousy . Food took a little longer than usual to come out . I ordered the burger , when I got it there was no. Onion lettuces tomato (which I requested ) , so had to wait five minutes or more while it got cold . Waitress wouldn't pay attention to water on table , so had to wait for her to come around to ask for more . She was nice but you could tell she didn't want to be there, hope everything is okay with her.. After playing in cash had to wait too long for her to return w/change . Gave her decent tip just because. Burger was pretty expensive , but this place is a complex, pretty impressive . I understand you have to pay for atmosphere, and they have that .
