The staff at The Tewksbury Lodge were very accommodating when we held our company picnic there yesterday . We had 3 salads , hamburgers and chicken breasts , a desert table and a cash bar with our package . Both, the inside of the facility and outdoors overlooking Riverworks were utilized that afternoon . They allowed us to bring our own lawn games and played some decent tunes while we socialized . I would think it would be hard to find a better atmosphere for a picnic than here . We are definitely going to use them again in the future - they have several options to choose from as far as catering goes . Check it out ! read more

We were here for a fairly large gathering. It was a December evening, so we weren't able to enjoy the lovely views available in daylight hours. Unfortunately, the hot foods on the buffet were barely warm. flavors were good, but.... On the flip side, all of the servers were terrific! Smiling faces, seemed happy to help with any and all requests. If only something could be done about the acoustics; it is so difficult to have a conversation with anyone other than the person next t you without almost yelling. read more

We have come year a couple of times for business events and this year was nothing like in the past. (It was much better in previous years). It was a nice day and the doors were open to let in fresh air. Unfortunately, this meant flies were all over the veggie tray. There was also a huge tray of cheese and crackers, but only a very small amount of pepperoni. I liked how the pepperoni was arranged in a rose, but it didn't last longer than five minutes. Italian sausage was one of the items on the hot buffet and it was served with hot dog rolls which looked a bit cheap. As for the taste of everything, it was a bit of a let-down. Nothing memorable. I do love this location and the bartenders and bussers were great, but the food was sub-par. read more

If your looking for a special setting with exceptional chef Kevin and staff look no further than Tewksbury Lodge! Located downtown at River Fest Park this banquet room is located by the waterfront! Yesterday I went here for my close friends baby shower and all the safety precautions were in place due to Covid. Everyone's temp was taken at the door, masks were worn by employees, guests had to wear masks when out of their seats, the chef wore a mask when serving the brunch buffet and served everyone. Yes I know this seems like a lot but I felt comfortable, safe, and best yet had FUN! The brunch buffet was delicious and the mini beef on weck with horseradish was my favorite! They also had bacon, sausage, western omelet (very good), scrambled eggs, home fries, and a tasty strawberry salad with walnuts & poppyseed dressing! The staff was also exceptional with the coffee/ water service and offering the themed pink drinks! I love the natural lighting with all the windows and being next to the water is so relaxing. Parking was easy too because there is a parking lot and many side street spots. This wasn't my only time here either. I went here for an event before Covid with my husband for his law professors surprise birthday party and that was a good time too. Situated on the banks of the Erie Canal, across from the historic grain elevators, the covered patio is absolutely delightful rain or shine. Finally found what I've been looking for! I love water and I love food. It's been my mission all summer to find a restaurant on the water that has food good enough that I'd return to eat not just for the view. It's a lot harder than you might think. Tewksbury Lodge is directly across the river from Buffalo Riverworks. There is also access to Riverfront Park which lies adjacent to the restaurant. If you plan to arrive by boat you can dock your boat outside with quick access to the park and restaurant (not sure if you have to pay to dock?) There is a parking lot and ample street parking as well if you arrive by car. My friend and I wandered in for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon on our way home from a morning kayaking trip down the road. We weren't quite sure what to expect or if the building we found was even a restaurant but decided to find out. Right from the beginning I was in love. Wanting to take advantage of the beautiful day we requested a seat outside. We walked through the big open dining area to the patio. The patio is completely covered and provided enough shade that we could enjoy a view of the water (and city depending on where you are sitting) and the outdoors without melting in the sun. As I waited for the food to arrive I hoped so desperately that the food would match the view. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to order because it all looked good. The prices were very reasonable as well. The food options were simple and classic. When the food arrived I was pleasantly surprised with the taste, quality and portion size. I think I finally found what I've been looking for. I can't wait to return and try some of the other options. Also a shout out to the staff who were friendly and attentive. If they can continue to serve good food with a smile, once they gain popularity, I imagine Tewksbury Lodge will become one of Buffalo's favorite riverfront restaurants. read more

2022 Mother's Day Brunch... Disappointed..Since I ate her a few years ago for a work party food was very good..Not this time....The brunch tasted like they made the food a few days before, then put it in the refrigerator for a few days and then put it out in hot plates . nothing was hot or fresh..even the cookies , brownies, muffins & danish.. Tewksbury Lodge has good food, a good view, and good service. This restaurant is located near Canalside by the grain elevators. There isn't much signage advertising them from the outside so it's easy to drive by and dismiss this place as a restaurant. We weren't even sure it was open when going in! I found the food to be delicious. There were lots of choices and the prices were reasonable. I would say that they serve your typical lunch foods. I opted for chicken fingers and fries. They give you a huge portions which is nice if you just went kayaking! There is a lot of indoor seating and only a few outdoor tables. As a math lover, I was disappointed by the arrangement of the outdoor tables. They were set up as four tables with four seats at each table. They could easily split up the combined tables for more seating. On each side of the patio, they could have one table farther from the doors as a four top and then move the other two tables to the sides creating a pathway where there would be 2 two top tables on each side. With only a few months of summer in Buffalo, I'd hate to be the person missing out on an outdoor table when there is the possibility for more outdoor seating! read more

Surprised my husband with a Father's Day breakfast . Got here just at opening so we could snag a table outside, it was such a lovely morning. The omelettes were both hearty and savory as were the potatoes. My Bloody Mary was spicy- just the way I like it. Staff were friendly and prompt! This is a new restaurant that I just found out about. We got to sit on the back patio which overlooks Buffalo Riverworks. Really beautiful day with a nice view of the water and of the flower baskets at Buffalo Riverworks. Enjoyed our time on the patio, but the food wasn't great. I ordered a vegetarian wrap which really needed some more seasoning, probably more balsamic vinegar or something. The fries.. I ate a lot of, but weren't particularly good. One of my friends ordered a salad which she was not impressed with. Other folks ordered sandwiches. I think it was fine but nothing to write home about. Nice atmosphere if you can sit on the back patio on a nice day, but not great food. read more

I finally made it to the Lodge for a private event. The bar selection was surprisingly delightful. Usually catered events don't have decent wine or various liquors to choose from, but I was impressed with the Cabernet Sauvignon selection and large selection of liquors. The view from the venue is absolutely stunning between the Buffalo River, Riverworks. and the skyline of downtown. The food was served buffet style and included a gorgeous salad presentation, pasta salad, wings, Turkey sandwiches, beef sandwiches, fried raviolis, and stuffed mushrooms. The only thing I didn't try was the Turkey, but everything was exceptional for a buffet. The wings were so good I went back for seconds, which again, in a buffet is unheard of. Kudos to the chef. I do wish the space had some noise dampening measures. It was pretty hard to hear people at your table over the roar of the crowd. Overall a great experience. I will definitely be back! read more

So....my family and I were on our way back from Niagara Falls (Canada) to Cleveland, Ohio and we were hungry. So my wife simply searched for a local restaurant on her phone and we got a few options. She rolled the dice and said lets hit The Tewksbury Lodge. So, I turned around and 10 mins later we were there. At first, I wasn't sure because the area we drove down was kinda ghetto. But then we find the place and the building was beautiful and located in what appears to be a river front revitalization area. Just gorgeous. We made our way inside and were greeted by a very friendly hostess who took our group (3 adults, 3 kids) to our table. Then we had the pleasure of meeting our waitress, Antonia, and she was simply amazing!!! She was one of the sweetest ladies I've EVER had the pleasure of meeting at a restaurant. She not only got our orders 100% correct, but she did it without writing anything down. She had some jokes for the kids and that made us all laugh! She was an absolute joy!! Then the food came and it was simply EXQUISITE!!! Absolutely, without question....delicious!!! And completely worth every penny!! I settled up the bill and my kids wanted to go outside and burn off some steam. So, while they were outside, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Peggy. She was so sweet and gave me a really nice history on the restaurant and what they offer the area. She was so nice in fact, that I felt like I've known her for years even though we had never met before! I HIGHLY recommend this place and if I'm ever in the area, I will most definitely be back for another fine meal! If you have the time, stop by and try the philly cheese steak! Rant‍ So yesterday, May 27, 2019, we went out on the boats. We were docked at Buffalo Riverworks across from this establishment (tied up at the end of 7 boats). Now, fun fact: I recently just had ankle surgery last week on the 17th, so I was on crutches. As you can imagine, it would be very difficult to crutch over 7 boats floating on the water to get anywhere! I had to use a restroom, so my boyfriend was nice enough to untie us to go to the unoccupied docks in front of Tewksbury Lodge. There were porter johns to the left of the building maybe 50 yards. We tied off to the dock and after getting out of the boat and 'walked' up to the gate (ON CRUTCHES) a worker came out and told us they were having a private party and couldn't come through the gate (the party was being held indoors, nobody was outside) I told the guy my situation and that I couldn't cross over 7 boats to use the restrooms and I just wanted to use the porter johns and not in the building and wouldn't disrupt anything. The man was very inconsiderate and again insisted that I couldn't go through the gate. We ended up having to leave our group and boating a mile somewhere else just to use a friggin restroom... unreal... read more

Owner/ Manager is rude and doesn't know the first thing about politeness or customer service. We have dined here twice before today's visit...food was fine (nothing special but ok) each time we visited we were one of only two or three other tables dining which we always found surprising because the venue and location is absolutely beautiful. This morning we found out why they are never busy (unless there is a festival in the park next door). This morning we visited for two reasons...one to sit on the patio for breakfast and the other was to take another look at the venue to consider it as a wedding location. Apon parking on the street we quickly took our Shihtzu puppy out for a pee....He chose the first tree he saw (out by the curb) and took a pee. The owner/Manager just happened to be walking past us at the same moment...she yelled at us and our puppy to pee somewhere else and then proceeded to tell us we better clean up after him! This morning this restaurant lost two things by being rude and presumptive...one they lost our breakfast order and two the lost our wedding! read more

I've been here twice now -- once for Kevin Guest House Oktoberfest and this past week Sunday for brunch. Both extremes and both times I've been impressed. It's directly across the Buffalo River from Riverworks so your view is of the Blue Light Cans. Parking on Ohio Street. Saturday Night Did a great job spacing everything out to account for the heavy flow of traffic, the large tent outside kept us dry from a massive rain storm and there was plenty of room for the German band and dancing! Bathrooms remained clean and stocked during the entire event! Could have benefited from another hand dryer/sink combo for the number of women in and out all night but it was not unbearable. Sunday Brunch Awesome! Great food selection and large portions. The Mimosa left me wanting a little more (but I enjoy the taste of champagne) and this is a family style restaurant so getting Brunch-Bunch Smashed is not happening here, and that's ok. I plan to return again in the spring/summer and hope to enjoy lunch outside! read more

Tewksbury is perfect for a weekday lunch! We came to grab a bite to eat around lunch. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming as are the staff. I love that the lodge is right on the water making it a must stop destination during the warmer months. The food was great as well as the price. read more

Rough go of it our first time here. It will probably be our last. The location and idea are good. Beyond that not much positive to say. Came in on a Sunday before a bisons game and ordered two beers, wings and a burger. Beers came out fairly quick. Finished them, ordered round two while we waited for our food....10 minutes later no round two. Another server comes and asks if we need another round. 10 more mins, still no round two & no food. Our original server came back and said "let me check on your drinks". She goes away and server 2 brings the beers. Then server 1 comes back to say " your drinks will be right up" and then sees we already had them. At this point (40 mins in) we ask how much longer till the food would be ready, to which she replies "I really don't know". We said we would be leaving, so she said she would go check again. 10 mins later she cane back with the food. Burger was undercooked and underwhelming. Wings were average. My husband and I originally booked this venue for our wedding ceremony and reception location. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, with views of Riverworks and the Buffalo River. However, four months prior to our wedding, there was a management change that resulted in us changing our venue for all wedding events a month prior to our date. The previous manager was one of the main reasons we chose this venue, other than the location. I am and did certainly help in planning the wedding, but cannot take full responsibility for set up and planning myself. The previous manager we worked with was going to take on this responsibility. When the new management took over in March, we never received an email or phone call. We actually never even met the new management ever. We were assured that everything would be fine and that the event would go on without a hitch. However, up until a month prior, we did not have a food and beverage contract or a tent rental and chair contract. All of our guests couldn't fit inside the venue. The new manager was never at the restaurant, did not return phone calls, and never followed up on the items that we had discussed previously. We finally cancelled our event with Tewksbury but had to connect to mutual contacts on LinkedIn to get the new manager's cell phone to even reach this person to cancel. What started out as a beautiful venue and experience turned into one of the most awful, non-responsive engagements for service I've ever experienced. In the recent wave of high end and concept dining that has swept Buffalo, it is easy to forget about the little guys. On the surface the Tewksbury Lodge seems relatively generic with a run of the mill (puns!) menu filled with appropriate names that celebrate the local neighborhoods' history and culture (take time to ask about why the place is called the Tewksbury!) Here is my take: located in scenic River Fest Park, the restaurant has a great spot on the Buffalo River with a modestly priced menu and friendly staff. I'd call it a perfect no frills stop for lunch or weekend brunch, with a big recommendation for the corned beef hash which is made with thick chunk corned beef. The Tewksbury does have very limited hours so make sure you check that they're open. Also, despite offering beer, wine and limited cocktails, there is no bar seating. read more

Customers beware. This restaurant seems a little shady. Recently attended a wedding reception there and it was not as expected. Wait staff not very friendly, meal started coming out before the bride, groom and wedding party arrived. The place seems very unorganized. Worst bartenders. Food was a little below par. Reception was scheduled to 11:30 pm and the pathway lights went out around 11. It was held in a tent on the deck and as the wait staff was cleaning up the tables around 11:30 - the inside lights of the tent were shut off!! This place seems like it needs a new manager that has some experience. read more

My kids booked my 50th birthday party for July prior to the covid pandemic with a kind, nice man named Kevin that was the chef. We were so excited to have the party here. Then covid hit. We made over 11 attempts to contact someone anyone. Finally in June we received a call back but by this time it was too late to send out invitations and plan for the party as we had no idea whether it was going to be allowed permitted or even possible so I had to make alternative plans not knowing anything and not getting any responses from this restaurant finally when they called back and agreed that the party could go on with restrictions it was too late so with no fault of ours we had to cancel I begged for them to give my children their security deposit back but they refused and yelled that they always return calls! They kept the security deposit even during a national pandemic this shows the character of this establishment and because of it I will never ever patronize them again. I hope the $200 they kept in a pandemic was worth it i would be terrified to book a bigger even. read more

the food was exceptional, the venue is gorgeous, I love that it sits on the water, and has a rustic feel inside while being in an urban environment. We had a great time, however, what kept this from being a five star review was that it was hotter than Hades in there. It was a summer evening and it felt like there was no air conditioning on whatsoever. I overheard the chef talking to other guests that the sunlight shines on one side of the building as the sun sets, and the HVAC system doesn't seem to be able to keep up with the increased heat. Sorry, but you guys have to revamp your system then. Especially in a brand new facility like this????? People are paying very good money to rent a beautiful venue and you are an establishment located on the water. You are obviously going to be booked for summertime events and you need to be able to accommodate people despite whatever heat and sunshine hits your venue. At the very minimum, you should have some large industrial-sized fans at the top to help circulate some air. It almost ruined the evening for us, as it was ungodly hot. read more

Yet another Very nice refurb of an old building in Bflo. Nice area outside along the Bflo River and clean, open, high ceiling dining inside. The lunch type food was good but is rather generic even though there were many choices. Take a burger and add a topping, like an egg and bacon, call it "The Irishman" (although I don't know why). Take a burger and put on cheese and avocado and call it "The Grain Scooper", and the list goes on, .... get the jist? Other lunch offerings are wraps and sandwiches and every one comes with fries. We had the Portobello Burger and Reuben and both were good. Iced Tea was out of a gun, not brewed. Be aware they have short hours of 11-2 Wed-Fri. Closed Mon-Tues. Brunch Sat-Sun 10-2. Dinner 5-10 Fri Only. Looking forward to a Brunch soon. Have only 2 suggestions for TL; more outside meal seating and better bathroom hand dryers. Also more than one dryer would be nice. The bacon was delicious, because it's bacon. Of course you can't beat the location, and building. Our food was brought out at separate times, after hours of waiting. Half the people were done eating before we received our final meal. The over easy eggs were well over done. I'm still waiting for my toast. They did become aware of the situation and provided us a discount. We hope for improvement in the operations in the future. read more

So wanted to like this place. Came in for a late lunch but after I was seated, sat for 15 min and no service. Got up to leave and they seemed surprised! I only saw 1 waitress and she didn't even acknowledge me. Place was clean and the food smelled good, but can't tell ya what it tastes like. If I could give it a zero I would. We went here on Friday 8/25 at about 7pm. Knowing that it was only open for dinner on Friday we expected it to be busy. It was not at all busy and I know why. The hostess sat my husband and I at a large round table meant for 6 people. A nearby small 2 top table hadn't been cleaned off yet and the hostess was in no hurry to get anyone to clear it. There were many other tables empty also. We sat down and waited for about 15 minutes and NO ONE even poured water for us or asked us for our drink order! My husband asked the waitress when someone would be over and she apparently forgot about us! Even then - no one came to our table! We were frustrated and asked for the manager and he could not be found. Terrible service! We never even were given a menu! read more

We stopped by the wonderful location, right on the Buffalo harbor across from Riverworks, on Father's Day. We thought it was a regular restaurant. As it turns out, they are more of a venue for various events and not so much a regular restaurant so to speak. On this day they had a Father's Day brunch which was just ending. As we walked in we were greeted by the Chef and a Manager or Owner. They told us to grab a plate and have anything that was left on the buffet at no cost. So, we helped ourselves to some of great food. The baked chicken was so flavorful, the baked potato pieces and pasta salad were outstanding and the macaroni and cheese was to die for. Since this was all without a charge, we had to hold ourselves back from getting a second helping. We ordered a couple of drinks, ate and listed to some wonderful music from a duo they had for the Father's Day event. The entire staff was more than welcoming and friendly.
