A friend of mine has an office in Savage. We've found the Buffalo Tap is a fine choice for burgers and such if you're in the area. Of note, they offer their interpretation of the Juicy Lucy which I find comparable to the 5-8 Club. In other words not bad but inferior to Matt's, The Nook or The Blue Door. Most recently I tried an El Diablo burger, substituting the BT Original "Hot" wing sauce for their spicy BBQ sauce. It was flavorful but that night I wanted something eye watering, face melting hot and it just didn't approach that level. Oh well. Sides and appetizers including the aforementioned wings are solid road house fare. Service is friendly. Atmosphere casual. All in all, no complaints. read more

Now I know that everyone goes here for the burgers so bear with me... My partner and I had fish and our friend ordered a burger. (Cheese curds also!) My fish sandwich was decent, my partner's fish mediocre and nothing extraordinary from the burger. The cheese curds were very salty ! I've experienced better. The wait was amazingly long and there is no waiting area. It was packed and very uncomfortable. My overall experience was not grand and I see no reason to revisit. Our waitress was pretty nice, however. Not a place for me. Especially not a place for vegetarians. I still always hope that a burger joint will know how to do something more than average. read more

I wanted to try the Elk burger because I like to be adventurous. I had the Gorgonzola with bacon. It was sooo good. I liked that the elk burger was not greasy and it seemed very lean but still flavorful with a good hamburger texture. I also had onion rings and those were pretty good too, you get a lot of them. We didn't even get to sit down. We walked in and someone (I'm assuming a waitress or host) had a horrible attitude toward our service dogs (both of us are military veterans). Another waitress corrected her and told her that they are service animals. We were about to be taken to a table when the grumpy lady said we should have to sit on the porch. A moment later we were asked for their papers. If they knew service dog law (which is protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act) they can ask two questions. Are they service dogs? What service do they provide? I will add that it is very easy to get a "card" from the internet for like 50 bucks for anyone (we've seen it done time and time again and it gives real service animals a bad rep) and generally speaking we don't carry around their good citizen cards. We opted to just leave. The food looked and smelled great and we were excited to try it. Wound up going to another place (I won't mention the name here) and were welcomed and had a fantastic meal that fixed the night. Next time we are in town we would really love to give this place a chance. Please educate your staff on ADA regulations. read more

This place was pretty good and very busy which tells you that it's a really loved dinner spot. Usually if a place is really busy everyday. To me that means something is worth visiting. They have a good list of what to choose as far as burgers go. Not a place to visit if you want in and out,this is sit and chat place. I had the chili first which was good and not too spicy. Then I picked the Bison Juicy Lucy which was very good and worth the cook time wait. I would definitely recommend this joint if you're ever in the Savage/Burnsville area. But we were impressed with the not only the food but also the atmosphere and service. Now every time he comes in he asks for us to go at least once if not twice to the Buffalo Tap. Love coming here with my family. The servers are as amazing as the food they serve. I have 3 younger kids and they always try to seat us in a more private space, which helps other patrons enjoy their dinners, and helps us to relax as well. The last time we dined in, we brought 5 kids with us (12, 10, 6, 5 & 3) and the service was exceptional. Our server kept checking on us to make sure drinks were full and kids were entertained while we waited for our food (we ordered juicy Lucy's, which takes a bit longer to cook). Everyone finished their plates AND appetizers! The younger kids even kept "stealing" from the adult plates and if you know young kids you'll know they rarely finish their own plates, let alone pig out on all the food at the table! Well I think the best thing I can say right off the bat is that we went back to back nights. It was so good, but the waitress the first night was terrible and trying to tell us how to eat the food. The second day they were simply short staffed. Now despite that, the food was amazing. From burgers, to steaks, to anything in between.
