We ordered a burger and fries. Both our orders had lukewarm fries at best. We asked for hot fries and they did deliver a few more that were warm. My husband, ordered Smashburger, but it came out basically a giant double hamburger, that did not have any flavor. His bun was super hard and not like it was toasted. It was just I think old. My hamburger was fine, but nothing to write home about it also lacked flavor. When we first sat down at our table, the server was scolding the hostess for seating the two of us at a 6 person table. When our server came back, I offered her to put us at a smaller table if she wanted, and she just rolled her eyes and said "it's really busy in here it doesn't matter". Every table was full. On the positive side, the temperature inside the restaurant was quite comfortable. They did seem to have enough staff members. I went to the bar to get some change for the cash tip, and the bartender was super helpful, quick and nice about it. Bathrooms were clean. Went there for dinner. There were multiple problems. First, there was a wedding party, but they didn't open the event center early, so the whole wedding group invaded the restaurant. They sat at all the open tables, and it was so loud in the restaurant that we couldn't hear each other from across the table. Now on to the food. The mashed potatoes with garlic was more like mashed garlic with potatoes. I love garlic, but this was ridiculous. On the to the Brussel sprouts. They were so salty that I swear that the chef had to have dumped a whole handful of salt on them. They were inedible. The steak was a great cut of meat, but I wasn't a fan of the wild rice sauce. My wife had the same sides, and the same issues. She had the walleye. The seasoning was not the best, but it did not taste like walleye. The best and only food food was the appetizer. It was the bacon wrapped pheasant stuffed with jalapeno cream cheese with raspberry sauce. That was very good. The waitress took our initial drink order, but it was someone else who took our food orders and brought our food. I tipped 20% ( I don't know why) to someone who only brought our drinks. In the end we spent $155 for an overpriced half inedible meal. Will not be going back. read more

My boyfriend told me this place had some exotic birds to try, and so I was intrigued. We ordered the pheasant quesadillas, the duck tenders, and the cheese curds. The pheasant quesadillas came with some sauce and tasted so good. I loved the way they made these. The pheasant actually was quite good. The duck tenders I could've done without because it was kind of weird. I'm not sure how to describe it but I prefer chicken tenders instead. I've been wanting to try cheese curds, and was surprised to find that I actually enoyed them. I don't like cheese that much, but cheese curds are fine by me. This place is an interesting restaurant to eat at and is an interesting experience. There is also a nice view as well of the water. You want to eat an animal other than beef or chicken here is the place. Had some duck and it was excellent. It's also a hunting club, which is the main source of business so it may be quite different than what you are used to. There are mounted animals on the wall and guns firing the whole time outside and hunters checking in in the pro shop that is adjacent to it. Service is barely 3 stars. Bar tender Jade was not friendly. We had to ask for service, sadly he did the bar or Restraunt no favors. There wasn't a huge crowd either. I hope he was just having a bad day and this isn't the norm. It was nice outside and I wanted to move from the bar to the patio so, I asked if someone was working the patio before going outside.... He said, "we will take care of you" He came by once and he asked if we wanted a couple more beers, we told home yes and he never returned..... I always tip minimum 20% plus. However this gentleman did not receive barely 5% and I noted " no beer to patio" Elk burger was a solid 4.5 stars! The crappy negative service contributes to the 3 star equation. Went on Sunday and was told to sit anywhere on patio. We sat and no one came to wait on us. One waiter said he would bring menus and didn't then came back a second time to say he would bring menus and that he wasn't sure if he was our server. Never came back with menu or asked us to sit elsewhere so we would be in his section even though he was waiting on tables around us. We went back to the hostess and told her we were leaving and why and she apologized but didn't offer any options. Wasted 25 minutes plus drive time. Disappointing. There were two of us and we each ordered cokes so our waitress gave us two full glasses of coke and a full pitcher! Everything looked good on the menu so I had the waitress surprise me with an elk burger served medium with mushrooms, cheddar cheese, blue cheese dressing and onion straws on top. Gotta pull back one star. Brunch is not open in the summer, and regular menu food is not anything overly special. I have had dinner and lunch here a couple times since my super solid brunch experience, and it is definitely not 5 star worthy. Food is good and better than most if not all other options in the area, just not 5 star. Burgers are very good. Elk nachos are not. Smoked prime rib is pretty good (too much salt on the crust). A large group of us went out for Valentine's Day dinner last night. After a scheduling snafu, which the upstairs Lodge waitstaff were extremely understanding of, we were placed downstairs at Triggers. Although a few of us were standing at the "Please Wait to be Seated" sign, there wasn't a host and no one talked to us or asked if we needed a table. Atmosphere is a typical hunting lodge bar/grill. Attire ranged from dirty hunting clothes to jeans and sweatshirts - we definitely felt out of place in our formal attire, and all the girls commented how uncomfortable we were with all the overly rude stares from everyone in the restaurant. Our waitress was fine but a bit rough around the edges; maybe hunters appreciate truck stop waitress-type. The best part was the food, although there's room for improvement. We started with the Spinach Artichoke dip served with bread.. Not my favorite appetizer. Smoked Prime Rib was the popular choice at the table, and it was delicious. Maybe a bit salty for some, but I tend to like saltier food. Myself and another one of the girls had the Stuffed Pork Chop. The bacon cornbread stuffing made it sweet compared to the salty chop. The other entree ordered at the table was the Blacked Chicken Pasta which looked good, but nothing fancy or special to make it $18. The popovers probably would have been good had they been warm. Triggers is brand new and rebuilt. The room is very beautiful, but unfortunately, the noise level of the restaurant is ridiculous. A table of 4 cannot converse at all. Since no one can hear a thing, including the wait staff, the food orders have come out wrong the last 2 time we went there. I sincerely hope they do something to resolve this problem. It is completely ruining the experience. In the past, The servers have always been friendly and efficient and the food was good. What a shame that a brand new facility was so poorly designed for it's use. *************************************** Revised my review upwards .. visited again in 2016 and they seem to have more sound buffers - noise level not so annoying as before.
