We took a chance even though the place is old with worn out cushions benches with duck tape. Waited almost an hour and was asked three times what was our order. We had the tilapia fish & chips and Mark 1 special. The fish was so thin and the fries were dark, not golden. The ribeye was chopped in small pieces, barely any meats on the sandwich. His colorful and larger than life personality will stay with you much longer after you had enjoyed and digested the food. The food itself is not extraordinary, You have your standard greasy spoon fare, but again you have to hear how Bob lovingly describes his food. It sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and you wouldn't be wrong. The gift shop is definitely full of charm and character, and it can keep you occupied and entertained while you wait for your food. They prefer payment in cash if you have enough on you. My friend and I arrived late evening and were seated in the Cactus Room which had a charming and run down atmosphere. Only about 4 or 5 tables were occupied by other patrons, so not crowded at all. We ordered fairly quickly, and the 20 minutes or so I waited for my lemonade was a harbinger of things to come. For dinner we ordered a buffalo burger and a wagyu burger. They took 80 MINUTES to arrive. That length of time for two burgers to be prepared is just unexplainable. You'll see other reviews here that say stuff like "you have to wait a little longer because everything's made to order" but that's a lot of Pollyanna hooey. It does not, it CANNOT take an hour and twenty minutes to make two burgers of any kind in the absence of incompetence or sadism. Explanations for this from our server were weak and unconvincing. Why two stars instead of one? The wagyu burger was delicious and the buffalo burger was fine. The owner was also friendly and funny. Neither one of those positives comes close to compensating for the wait though. Other reviewers seem sufficiently charmed by the owner to overlook everything else - God bless. We're visiting Zion National Park as tourists--people this area depends on. Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was so unpleasant, it left a truly bad impression. We got in and waited by the door, no sign of -"wait to be seated" so we got in and tried to sit, that's when we were "greeted"--if you can call it that--by an ill manner young woman who abruptly asked where were we going, as if we did something wrong. I asked if we needed to pay first and order at the cashier but she told us we needed to look at the standing menu before sitting. We explained that we had already reviewed it online and knew exactly what we wanted to order. Still, she insisted we not sit until we looked at the menu in person. Fine--we humored her, even though it was completely unnecessary. There was only one clean table; the other three were dirty. We stood near one to give her a chance to clean it. Instead, she ordered us to sit at a different table. I told her I didn't want to sit there because the cushion was torn, and both my husband and I were wearing shorts. Rudly she mumbled that all the seats had tears--so it didn't matter. That was it. We decided to leave--but not before I made it clear why: "Your service is terrible, your attitude is worse, and if this place is empty, it's because of people like you." She had the audacity to respond with, "Excuse me?" Yes--excuse you. She clearly knows nothing about hospitality, customer service, or even basic courtesy. I was willing to overlook the fact that the place is dark, dingy, and outdated. I never even got to try the food--but honestly, even if the food had been amazing, it wouldn't have made up for the way we were treated. Good service is a must, especially in a place that lives off tourism. As tourists in Zion, we bring business to this area. Local establishments literally survive because of visitors like us. When we're treated like a nuisance instead of valued guests, it's not just disappointing--it's unacceptable. There are plenty of other restaurants around here that actually appreciate their customers. We'll be taking our time and money to one of those. read more

Food is always Amazing tonight we had the Bison Burger and The American Waygu Burger which was so tasty and juicy and loaded with flavor. Please be patient when ordering due to the food being fresh and the orders are actually made to order, Which means when you order they slap your order on the grill. Bob happily welcomed my boyfriend & I, he gave us a quick run through of the menu and highly recommended his famous burger! We decided to order the famous burger and the wagyu burger, Bob was so kind to cut&split the burger for us so my boyfriend and I can share! We ordered the pb pie and the chocolate pie ! My favorite is the chocolate pie, the crust is so perfectly made I would eat it by itself if it was on the menu! Before we left, Bob had a little book next to the entrance for customers to sign. We stopped at Buffalo Bobs after reading other yelp reviews on our summer road trip...and it was an experience. I originally gave it 4 stars because we were not told the price of the pie that Bob talked us into getting. Then I changed my review to 5 stars after thinking through the great memories we made here. The burgers were delicious - we all ate the same meal and we all cleared our plates after a long day of travel. Bob is a character and if you are offended easily or you want a fancy dining experience steer clear of this place...if you like entertainment, a great burger, and meeting interesting people then I highly recommend stopping here and be prepared to be entertained....and talked into buying $9 slices of pie... while the pie was good...if we had known the price we would have only picked 1 or 2 slices and split it between our family. If you want a beer Bob will tell you what you will have (we did not order beer, though a neighboring table did). If you eat your burger with a knife and fork be prepared to be told to eat it all together so the flavors meld together (this happened to a different neighboring table). If you want advice on where to go in Zion ask Bob, he'll tell you. Bob is passionate about his food and his pies, and stopping here was a great memory on our road trip adventure. What a kick this place is! Fabulous desserts, excellent sauteed veggies, tasty mashed potatoes, a great bison burger, and a strong dose of local color! I enjoyed the enthusiastic, effusive owner chef who described eash aspect of each menu item. The gift store/reading post was fun to explore as well. While the restaurant across the street may have been newer and "classier", I appreciated the way this place made you feel like extended family. Such a friendly, welcoming place!! Looks kinda quirky from the outside and the restaurant/local arts store sits far back from the street. If you're in the area for dinner, the food is excellent. We both had the Wagu burger with fries. Everything is fresh and cooked when you order. The best burger we've had in while!! The pies for dessert are made from scratch. We had key lime and banana cream pies. Delicious!! The pies alone are worth the trip. Bob, the owner, is so welcoming and takes time to talk with the customers. He's a very entertaining guy!! After spending the day at Zion, my friends and I were famished. Luckily, Buffalo Trading Company was only a 25 minute drive from the Visitor's Center in Zion. Upon entering, we were greeting by the owner Bob. He was very lively and was cracking jokes left and right. We took a look at the one menu they have on display and were then seated in one of their (maybe 5?) booths. I ordered the veggie burger. It's not on the menu, but if you ask Bob about his vegetarian options, he will tell you about it. It reminded me of a Beyond meat burger in terms of the texture. It had an amazing pineapple marinade. The fries it came with were clearly made fresh to order, as was everything else. I tried a bite of my friend's Buffalo Burger and was impressed with how amazing it was. I've never had buffalo meat before, and was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't as gamey as I was expecting. We finished the meal off with two slices of pie: banana cream and apple. Originally, we ordered the slices to go so we could eat them on our drive. Bob brought them out with the containers open so that we could have a bite if we wanted to. Once we had one bite, we couldn't stop! We absolutely devoured the pies. Everything was amazing, and the service was top notch. This is such an amazing gem tucked away in Virgin, Utah. Came here to get some gator jerky. Ended up with 6 packages of jerky. The sticks in my photos are not made by the owners or the shop which he does tell you forthright. We did also buy some of the beef jerky that they make themselves. It's good to support local businesses. The food seems to be legit too, we didn't have time to dine in but we would definitely try the kitchen food if we were in town longer. I highly recommend this shop. It's worth a stop. A culinary delight. The second you walk out n Bob greats you with a smile on his face. While looking around you see a sign that says "The Chef is always right" and let me tell you Bob says the burgers are seasoned perfectly and to not put any condiments on the burger. We elected to get the Buffalo burgers. I can't stress enough listen to Bob "The Chef is always right". The burger was full of flavor, lean and pure perfection. The low star reviews about Bob and his personality are not correct. Bob is amazing, a character of sorts but knows what he is talking about. You're not just buying an $18 Buffalo burger, you are getting one of the best burgers you have ever had, along with Bob. Part of the allure is Bob. I have to say if Bob wasn't the way he is it would def take away from the experience. I cold called this place, I didn't see the reviews until I had ordered. Ahh. Okay. I was naive initially when looking at places to eat in the Zion area. I had seen two different businesses under the same name of Buffalo Trails Trading company, and additionally a company by the name of The Cactus Room, that all looked like the same place online and had the same menus displayed on the reviews. I gave it a shot regardless, but upon entering, my friends and I immediately realized how unsanitary this place was, from the plywood ceilings to the dust covered jewelry cases, my stomach immediately started churning. Ignoring my intuition, we ventured to peek at the whiteboard menu with the marked up the prices for food and saw how odd a "Hawaiian pasta salad with garlic bread" and a "rosemary/raspberry chipotle chicken breast with spaghetti western potatoes" were to have on the menu. When we recognized this, we quickly told the owner we were in there for "pie to-go" just to be nice, given his enthusiasm. We had asked him what kind of pies he had on the menu since they weren't listed on the whiteboard, and he gave a speech to the ENTIRE restaurant about the pies he had, so he didn't have to repeat this announcement to every guest who was curious about dessert options. After this 3 minute long announcement, we should have taken that as a cue to leave, but instead, ordered the pies, and waited a whole 20 minutes for something that we had figured was pre-prepared. While waiting, we recognized the owner was a one-man show, basically acting as a waiter, checking people out, and cooking the food. We waited patiently and thankfully, took the pies and ate dinner elsewhere. After dinner, we ended up eating the pies we purchased, considering each slice was $10 each. We thought these were going to be at least worth the $10 each ($30 for 3 slices of pie), but instead, we got what amounted to be 3 slices of stomach-cramping, like Reddi Wip mixed with canned puree on a Pillsbury pie crust. Needless to say, after a few bites, the remains were discarded. I've had better pies in the frozen section of a grocery store. I write this as a warning to anyone who is looking for a proper pie, or even a sanitary burger after a long day of hiking. read more

We ordered the Wagyu beef burger (5/5) and the Bison burger (4.5/5 - a little dry in comparison, but would be outstanding if we hadn't had tried the Wagyu one right before). Both were great and would order again. We also ordered the apple pie for dessert (no pics bc we got it to go). It was absolutely delicious - double crusted apple pie with fresh cream. OK let's get be crystal clear: the owner/host/waiter/cashier/curator is a sweet man who clearly loves to serve people and share his passion with the tourists who stumble upon this establishment. That said, the food is ok: No, it's not inedible but it's also not 'the best burger you've ever had'. The vaule in a 2024 economy is below average.
