Very popular restaurant in Springdale, right by Zion National Park. We had to wait about 20 minutes for dinner, which was not too bad. My friend and I split a full rack of the "killer ribs" - it's definitely a good portion for 2 average sized people to share, and for $37, that makes it a pretty good value. The ribs were fine, but I have to say, I've definitely had better - I felt these ribs could've been a bit more tender / fall-off-the-bone. Also, while it looks like a lot of sauce on top, I thought it could've used more, as there isn't much beyond that top layer of the ribs. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The service speed is decent. There is a lively atmosphere thanks to the popularity of the restaurant. We had a pretty good dinner here! After long and tiring day at the park, we were looking for a hefty and satisfying meal. We definitely found it here. My husband and I started with the chips salsa guac appetizer, since we were extra hungry. We also each got a burger with fries. These burgers are hefty! We are each very big eaters and we struggled to finish. The food itself wasn't life changing, but we definitely left satisfied. Some of the best guacamole I've ever had. The pork was so tender and beautifully spiced. Shockingly **not*** over-salted! My husband says his hiker's breakfast was so good he didn't need the milk, but the milk made it better. And what can I say about the server? Service was second-to-none. Typically, making sure I have enough water is a worry for me so I make sure to ask for more before I need it. Vance brought me a beer stein " hanker tanker" of ice water which made me a satisfied customer! His recommendations are excellent, too. We love breakfast. This was incredibly satisfying. Clearly I wasn't the only one, the place was packed and I waited ~25 min for a table, which was well managed with a buzzer system. The staff were polite and efficient, clearly serving multiple guests as fast as possible, but it didn't affect how attentive they were. Then I looked around at what everybody else was being served and got really excited. Very large portions of fantastically well executed food - I kind of hurt myself eating too much. So good we went twice! On our first night in Springdale we didn't know where to go, but we saw the reviews about Oscar's and it was a short walk from our hotel so we decided to give it a try. Everyone in Springdale seems to be on the same schedule: hike all day, check out an epic sunset, then go eat. So naturally, there was a big line but the wait was short and we got seated within about 10 minutes. My wife had the fish tacos and I ordered the chicken enchiladas. She said the tacos were really good but too much for her to finish. The enchiladas were great as well. We both commented that the generous portions would've been perfect if we'd been hiking all day. Unfortunately, most of our day was spent flying from Mpls to Vegas and then driving to Springdale. It was a long day and we were tired and hungry. Luckily, the food came quick and we enjoyed a local on the patio before walking back to our room. The next day we hiked Angels Landing and the Overlook Trail. Lunch consisted of a handful of trail mix and a bagel. By dinner time we were ready to eat! But too tired to go far. So we returned to Oscar's knowing we'd get a decent meal and quick service. My wife had the fish tacos again. She liked them that much. I had the burrito. OMG. It was huge but so good. After hiking all day and basically skipping lunch, I had no trouble eating the whole thing. It went fast. The next day we were chatting with some locals and getting advice on where to go eat. Got lunch here after hiking Zion. They have a consistent water mist that sprays in the outer space, which definitely helps keep the space at a comfortable temperature. I could not imagine wanting to sit outside in 100+ degree weather if that didn't have that going. They have a parking lot behind the restaurant. Let's start with Oscar's Pork Chile Verde Tamales. They are crazy delicious. Let's brag on our server, Rhys, who has spent time on the line and knows the menu and is a genuine wonderful human. Oscar's is worth the wait if you show up at six pm like we did. It's a fun place. We called it our club and went back for dinner again and then breakfast on our last day. We were always pleased with the meals, and we're picky foodies. Can we talk about their ridiculous carrot cake? We were too full to eat it on site, so we to-goed it. We nuked it in the micro back at the van and mmm'ed and ahh'ed our way through the waterfall of melting down the side frosting. Now I love a good carrot cake and theirs made it into my top five. If you've read any of my other reviews, I try most people's Huevos Rancheros unless I see catsup instead of Cholula on the table. They had the requisite bottle of Cholula, so I went for it. It was wonderful, and topped by fresh guacamole. I'd order that again. If you're still reading, I'll mention that the table next to us at our first dinner was being awful to our server, Rhys (who was unfailingly polite), then turned their miserable mood on us and gossiped about how awful we were. I guess bicycle togs and lifestyle choices didn't have a place in their small, toxic hearts. (Yeah, what do I really think, right?) There are so many reviews of this place so I'll try to keep it brief and straight to the point. Passing through, going back to Cali from Bryce Canyon. We sat outside , it's February so it was slow which we loved. Have a nice backdrop sitting outside. Service was good, food reasonably priced especially for the location and compared to other places especially form the portions you got. We got the veggie quesadilla and wet burrito and side of fries. Wasn't able to finish it all. But everything hit the spot and we left completely satisfied. And the backdrop from sitting outside was pristine. Not to mention the location had some stores that were still open even though it's slow season so got to walk it off and it was just a peaceful time to go.
