rock-hard, discolored burrito

Most of the staff at Zion were absolutely friendly and welcoming, except for the workers at Ponderosa Eats. We ate there twice. The first time, the food was actually amazing, but the staff all seemed like they were having a terrible day. Their attitudes were off-putting, and we honestly couldn't figure out why, they just seemed like they didn't want to be there. We brushed it off as a one-time thing. Unfortunately, our second visit confirmed it wasn't just a bad day. An older woman at the counter was clearly frustrated and repeatedly snapped at another guest, yelling "Your water cup is over there!" in a very rude tone. When we ordered, we politely asked if a breakfast burrito could be made without ham. She slowly shook her head no with the most blank, unbothered face and told us they were premade, but then said, "They're so good!" So we gave them a shot based on that. Well, the burritos were awful, rock hard and nearly inedible. We opened them up and honestly couldn't even tell what was inside. Everything was dry, discolored, and tasted like it had been sitting for days. We also ordered a coffee and a matcha, and both drinks looked and tasted like they were mostly milk with barely any coffee or matcha. When the food and drinks are this bad, rude behavior becomes even harder to overlook. As someone who's worked in customer service, I understand that bad days happen, but that attitude should never be taken out on paying customers. It really affected our experience.

We ate here 3 times while staying at the resort; once to go, twice in the restaurant itself. The portions are huge and the food is actually great. Interesting options along with upgraded basics. My ponderosa pie pizza was even delicious reheated the next night. Prices are very reasonable for what you get, as well. The restaurant is set up in a neat, different way that my family liked a lot. All of the staff was super nice too! Pic shows my hubby and his enormous $7 breakfast sandwich.

5 plus! We were here mid April on a beautiful evening,…read morewith the sun hitting the Watchmen and other ridges in that range and it was superb! But that's just where the experience starts, and continues whilst your selection of food and beverages are served with little tips, anecdotes and expertise without anything feeling like it's a spiel. Now the food - tremendous! I'm actually forlorn we love so far away this isn't our local! As a couple, we always share. Our choice over two evenings (one being takeout as we weren't staying at the connected hotel were: Steak tartare (I don't enjoy eggs and they accommodated this by putting them in the side) Spanish octopus Golden beets carpaccio Bolognese with the golden trio of meat blend Duck confit cassoulet Pork chop Honestly, I would order any single one of these again without hesitation. Everything component belonged on each dish, and pleasant to eat separately or piled on the fork as one mouthful. (Also appreciated when getting our takeout order that chef referred to cutlery as cutlery - rare in the US - specially when plastic takeout) Don't miss this on your Zion trip, and definitely worth going out of the way for!

There's also a large green lawn area where kids can run around and play if they finish their food early or get a little antsy while waiting. 1. Octopus appetizer: Seasoned with Mediterranean flavors and really well done. The potatoes were incredibly soft and paired perfectly with the octopus. 2. Lamb meatballs: Slightly spicy, but a huge hit for all of us. The lamb was flavorful and tender, and the kids loved eating it with the pita. 3. Duck entrée: A very comforting dish. It comes with beans that complement the duck really nicely, making it a warm and satisfying plate. 4. King salmon: Another great dish perfectly cooked and nothing bad to say about it. 5. Fettuccine Bolognese: My kids ate every bite. It didn't taste like fresh pasta, but it was still very enjoyable and flavorful. I am definitely coming back to this place

There is indoor and outdoor seating but definitely try to eat outside. The view is so beautiful. The menu was pretty varied from tacos, sandwiches, burgers and meats. The drink menu was good too with lots of different draft beers and cocktails. We had the crispy Brussel sprouts -so good! The beer battered shrimp tacos on corn tortilla was really good and came with chips. Do try the "dirty soda"--vanilla root beer, coconut cream and lime. Loved it. The staff was super nice and even accommodated my request for no added salt. Definitely recommending this place!

We ordered the Slow-Roasted Pork Sandwich, but the meat was dry and the bread kept falling apart, making it difficult to enjoy. We also tried the Camp Burger, which was decent but lacked any real wow factor. Overall, it just felt like an average burger without anything particularly memorable about it. While the atmosphere and patio are nice, the food was bland overall and not something I'd personally come back for. If you're in the area, there are probably better food options nearby.

Very flavorful, proteins were moist and tender, salsas and sides were fresh. The service was great. Side note - Try the hot sauce! VERY flavorful with a little kick. The…read morerestaurant has an older bar-style ambiance, which may appeal to some, but the food did not live up to the reviews we had seen. We started with the chips, salsa, and queso. One thing to note is that the chips and salsa are ordered separately, and the queso is an added extra charge on top of that. For our meals, we ordered the special swordfish taco and the carne asada tacos. Both proteins lacked flavor and were heavily covered with pineapple salsa, which overpowered everything else. The tacos themselves were very bland and desperately needed salt. Once we added salt, they became much more enjoyable. The same went for the rice and beans -- both were pretty flavorless until seasoned. The highlight of our experience was Jimenez (Hopefully I'm spelling his name correctly) who did a great job handling a very busy bar section. Service was attentive despite how packed it was, and we appreciated that. Overall, the food just did not meet expectations, especially for the price point. Sadly, Bit & Spur would be a hard pass for us if we return to Springdale.

Our reservation was at 8:30pm, we were seated around 8:42pm, and our drinks (water, apple juice, and wine) arrived close to 9pm after a reminder to the server. Once we were ready to order, the server mentioned a few additional options that were not listed on the menu, which left us wondering why those were not shared earlier. We ordered the butter pasta, smashed burger, and skirt steak. The food overall was decent, but part of the skirt steak arrived cold and the dinner service was very slow. We eventually walked to the front desk ourselves to ask for the check and pay. The next evening, I stopped by asking for just a drink to enjoy the view of the pasture at sunset, but was told drinks are only served with dinner and there was no alternative nearby without a 15-minute drive. The property itself has a relaxing setting, but the restaurant felt understaffed during peak hours and limited by policies that made the experience less welcoming than expected.

04/16/26 The food…read moreand service were exceptional. We ordered and shared the bison burger and the elk chop. Both were delicious and cooked perfectly. We were on a trip celebrating our anniversary and we were offered complimentary dessert to help us celebrate after dinner. Even though we were stuffed, we took our waiter up on his offer. I enjoy trying small batch local ice cream and our server took the time to go find out where the ice cream was made. He let us know that the ice cream was from Salt Lake City and I settled on getting the Huckleberry ice cream - it did not disappoint. The limoncello ricatta cheesecake was equally delicious. We had a reservation for 7pm and ended up being ready for dinner much earlier. I didn't see a way to change our reservation so I just made a new one for 5:15pm with no problem. It was just after 5 and I had no issues making a new reservation online. We did see several people come in and get turned away since they did not have a reservation. They were told the next reservation was not until 8pm. The restaurant was pretty much empty and there were quite a few tables still open when we were leaving. We enjoyed our meal and had no issues, but it does seem like you need to make a reservation and the best way is online and not through the hostess.

The burgers themselves were actually good -- the bison burger was flavorful and thankfully not dry, which can sometimes happen with bison. The fries, however, tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. I ordered the elk chop because I had never tried elk before and was excited for the experience. Since I was unfamiliar with how elk is typically prepared, I trusted our server to guide us if needed. Unfortunately, our server -- an older gentleman with glasses and thinning hair -- seemed rushed from the start. He avoided eye contact, took our order hastily, and never once asked how I wanted the elk cooked. When the food arrived, the outside of the elk looked fine, but the center was extremely raw. At first I assumed maybe that was simply how elk is prepared. It wasn't until I overheard the table behind us ordering the same dish and being asked how they wanted it cooked that I realized we had never been given that option. I looked up elk preparation on my phone and learned it is commonly served medium rare because it's such a lean meat. I called the waiter over and explained that my chop was raw in the center. He looked at it and said, "Yup, that's raw." I mentioned that he never asked how I wanted it cooked, and he offered no response or apology. He simply asked, "Anything else?" took the plate, and walked away. As he was leaving, he turned around and casually asked if I wanted another chop. At that point, the poor attitude and lack of service had already ruined the experience. My mother even commented that she felt we were treated differently. To make matters worse, when he returned with our expensive bill, he never checked on us again or even offered dessert. The food itself had potential, but the service completely overshadowed the meal. We left disappointed and wishing we had spoken to a manager before leaving. But wilL never visit this establishment again. There's other option. It was convenience since we were staying inside Zion lodge. We dined with them on May 23 at 745 pm reservation we eat inside since they were closing the outside at 8 pm.
