Quiet little, local burger joint in the Spring Branch area. Had the BuffBurger with lettuce, onion, pickle, mayo, American cheese, and bacon also ordered a side of their truffle fries. The fries were a little over cooked for my liking but the burger was perfect. The lighting in the restaurant was very fluorescent, could be scaled back some and use a more 'yellow' light. The staff was very friendly and the food came out quickly. This is my second time in and I have enjoyed both of my experiences. Just wish it was closer to home as I live in the Montrose neighborhood, was just a convenient stop on my way to HMart. Will be back next time I'm in that area. read more

A great place to go to for a great burger and fries without driving through a fast-food lane or waiting in a ridiculous line around the block at an overhyped burger joint. This little place off the Katy Freeway is similar to those press junkies Hopdoddy and Shake Shack, but without the lines of suburbanites looking to try the latest thing. They specialize in organic and hormone-free items, so you also know you're eating as healthy as a burger can be (right?). I kept it simple with their Buff Burger but added fresh jalapeños because I like it spicy! Their side of fries are are regular size (nothing oversized to share) and come with a variety of options. They have jalapeño ketchup here (á la Whataburger) that tastes very fresh and homemade. They have some of the best iced tea I've ever had in Houston. No joke! My only criticism is the atmosphere. I came after sunset and the lights above the tables were that bright blueish light that reminds me of an aquarium. It made the room feel like I was in a jail cell. I've seen several local food bloggers rave about BuffBurger. I decided to give it a try after seeing the delicious watermelon margarita one of them posted recently. The first mistake I made was clicking on the link of the bloggers photo, which took me to the Memorial location and not The Heights location that I desired. When we arrived we realized that this location did not have the cocktails. We were a little disappointed but decided to still enjoy the food anyway. I ordered the years bird chicken sandwich with parmesan truffle fries on the side. My fiance ordered the classic BuffBurger with regular fries. I also ordered a side of their smoky queso. Our food came out quickly and the staff was polite and attentive. My chicken sandwich was good. the chicken itself was flavorful and juicy. The bread was soft and warm. The sauce that comes on it however left something to be desired. The cashier described it as being similar to a Cane's sauce but it did not have that same peppery flavor to me. The pickles that come with the sandwich are bread and butter style pickles and did not compliment the sauce at all in my opinion. The parmesan truffle fries were great flavor-wise, but they were soggy immediately after we took them out of the bag. We ate inside the restaurant for reference. My fiance described her burger was being delicious and extremely flavorful. Love this place! I've always passed by this place and finally stopped to see what it was about today. I love the name and I love everything they're about. Walking in around lunch time, there was a good amount of people inside and the place is very clean. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a BuffBurger with American cheese and truffle fries. That was one of the best burgers I've ever had. So flavorful and not much grease. Paired with the truffle fries, you can't go wrong. I get hungry, like stupidly hungry, more than a man on a diet could ever care to admit. Since I've been on keto, I have been super faithful and lost 65 lbs. Today, well... today I broke that diet and I broke it hard. And let me tell you, it was freaking WORTH IT! Upon entering Buff Burger, there were people dining and enjoying themselves, clearly people knew about this place and it was a hoppin. I get to the counter and the guy behind the counter didn't try to explain anything, which for me... is absolutely awesome. I hate going somewhere and the person taking your order tries to upswell you on everything at every corner and pick possible. That simply wasn't the case here. I jokingly said I was hungry and "I wanted something similar but superior to smash burger, but smash is trash." Guy then chuckled and said well I hope you enjoy it! He was super friendly and welcoming. Making the Texan burger and aioli fries I ordered seem even better because of the great counter service I had received. The burger itself had an espresso bbq sauce that, in a word, was heavenly!!! They had asked how I wanted my burger cooked, which made me remember the early 90's when you could get a burger at fuddruckers cooked rare. So naturally I said medium rare because I wasn't sure how rare they would cook it, but it came out more on the rare side than medium rare, for which I could not have been more excited for. Yes, I understand the health risks associated with eating meat that is not fully cooked, but that applies to big restaurants where even they do not know how fresh their beef is. However, Buff Burger, as far as I could tell, is a small, maybe even family owned, restaurant with locally sourced beef and veggies from 44 farms. They know where their beef is coming from and they know how old it is, because it is 100% fresh. That said, I can assure you there is not another burger joint like this anywhere in or out of Houston. The closest thing to a burger as satisfying comes from a sports bar and grill in League City called Tight Ends, but if you don't know where I am talking about... it's probably not for you. Buff Burger still has Tight Ends Sass burger beat by a mile though. So it took maybe four and a half minutes after I sat down and holy crap they had my order perfect. The aioli and Parmesan fries all cutely packed in a mini looking grocer brown paper bag. The presentation of the burger and fries was nothing but food porn to the eyes and nose. Before I had sat down, I got my water, jalapeño ketchup and some sort of aioli cheese dipping sauce (perfection.) The burger itself was a meal, but if I am going to break my diet... I was determined to go all out and get the fries. So, I'll admit, the fries as far as aioli truffle fries go were some of the most amazing fries I've ever had... however, and this is my one and only maybe sorta negative but could be a positive for others, the fries were not extremely or really even slightly crunchy. They were pretty soft and clearly cooked in some sort of amazingly tasty oil. They had some crunch bits, but when the majority, like 95%, is super soft... it really makes them hard to dip in condiments and shovel in your pie hole. If the one complaint about the entire place is simply a subjective opinion and it has no bearing on flavor or quality, I'd have to say that this place is like an epic rock show that you never want to have end. Buff Burger and team, you guys kicked so much booty today, thank you!!!! Now I'll leave you all with the comment I shared to my buddy from magnolia Texas, who just happens to be able to put down more food than me and is a burger aficionado... Tried Buffburger for the first time earlier today! Gotta say it was amazing!! I had the Buff Classic with everything but the mayo. I think the true test of a burger is all the elements minus any sauces. It was outstanding! Was cooked as requested medium rare. The veggies were super fresh and I could taste each of them and how they complimented the perfectly seasoned meat and delicious brioche bun. Bravo!! Before this experience Hopdoddy was my go to but if you don't already know they swapped out all their meats and veggies to lower quality vendors when the pandemic hit. (As I was informed by my go to waitress when I inquired about the quality going downhill after several lackluster burgers) But Buffburger has saved the day! I might just go back tomorrow it was so good! Also the service was amazing!! Super friendly staff and quick service. Still a solid burger spot although the many other places in Houston offer steep competition. You got to love a place though that offers a free kids meal night. The burgers a little on the smaller side for the kiddo but the fries are more than plenty for a tiny ones I went with the Salmon burger and overall thought it was decent if a little lightly seasoned but well sauces between the slaw and tarter sauce mix. The bun is excellent and came out slightly toasted but still nice and moist with an excellent bite. Generally speaking the service was as expected for a quick casual spot. Plenty of parking available and a decent amount of space inside to sit with a small or large group. Had the blue burger. It's a sticky, gooey, drippy thang. The patty is thick and juicy and it was oozing blue cheese and onion jam. Even the buns were glazed sweet and stuck to my fingers. It was an indulgent burger, perhaps a little too indulgent because its richness got to be somewhat hard to finish by the second half. One semi-criticism is the bacon. I do love a nice crispy bacon, but upon my first bite of the burger, something nearly pierced my lip raw. Upon inspection, it was a shard of the bacon. It was borderline jawbreakers. My family and I were in the mood for a hamburger. This place is conveniently located off the I-10 freeway. It's a nice clean place with friendly service. They have a great menu with a great selection of burger, salads, etc. My kids and father enjoyed their meal. My 7 y/o ate all her hamburger and then ate some of my dad's so I know their burgers are good. My husband said that his goat cheese burger was good but he has had better. My mom and I enjoyed the original Buff burger. The burgers are good, don't get me wrong, but I guess when I compare it to In and Out or Lounge Burger, it's average. Paid 17$ for a burger, drink and fries. I think they are trying to sell themselves as a step up from Becks Prime but in actuallity their food is a step down while paying more. Burger- decently seasoned patty, bun is dry, dense and just bad. Decent blue cheese but their ratios are off between patty, bun, toppings and cheese. For 17$ this shouldnt be an issue. Fries- too soggy for thin cut fries imo. No way they are double fried. Mango tea- unsweet but still good. I wanted to like this place but its really just an over priced burger. read more

Each will cost you $0.50 to $1.50, so I'd recommend to take a look before going ham. The selection is pretty interesting. You've got American to Goat Cheese. Jalapeno Ketchup to Wasabi Tarter. Bacon to Bourbon Onion Jam. No fried eggs here! You can also sub your bun for a lettuce wrap if you're on a diet thing. Carbs are delicious, so I'd also recommend keeping the bun. Valentine's day burger!!! Had no expectations, but was pleasantly suprised about the burger. I had a goat cheese burger. The cheese with arugula was sooooo tasty, but the meat was seasoned well and sooooo delicious. Even the bun had a char on it. Very nice. I'm not one for kombucha or those drinks, but the blueberry mint one was good. The other two ppl had the regular burger, which received great reviews, and the truffle burger. Although, I didn't taste them, the ladies said they were awesome. Consensus of the table was, buffburger is better than mighty fine, 5 guys, and comparable/on level with houstons American cuisine. I came here for a quick lunch recently and was not disappointed. The interior is clean and spacious and the ambiance is trendy and hipster-esque. The menu and its descriptions are witty and amusing to read. I tried the Blue burger (medium with onion jam on the side) with a side of Buff fries. I really enjoyed the jalapeño ketchup the Buff fries are served with. This place isn't cheap by any means, but ~$11 wasn't thaaaat bad for a truly delicious and tasty burger. The onion jam was phenomenal! Loved how they heaped a huge portion of arugula on there, too. Be forewarned that the serving size may not be considered large by some. I polished off my meal without difficulty. Also, the kids' meals are a great deal- comes plain, so ask for fixings if you want them. The food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. The tuna was a bit over cooked but the bread was good. The chicken sandwich was also mediocre based on the quality and crust. The tater tots were larger and juicer than regular tots.
