I want to comment on some negative reviews that almost swayed our decision about eating here. Thursday 4:00 pm and many seafood choices. Maybe 4 or 5 shrimp varieties. Green mussels, baked whole salmon, pounds of crawfish several fried fish dishes. Much more sushi had 8 very different rolls, tuna that is very nice, shrimp and some other choices. An excellent Mongolian grill. The food was all hot or cold as it should be. Everything was scrupulously clean. Whatever compelled the negative reviews clearly wasn't the food nor the service. This was probably one of the worse buffets that I've gone to in Lafayette. The selection of food isn't too bad as there was lots of soups, chicken, pizza, seafood, and sushi options to choose from--but the quality is concerning. The pot roast was probably my favorite dish as it was super flavorful with tender meat falling off the bone. I also enjoyed the mushroom soup and a few of their veggie side items. That being said, the seaweed salad tasted off and the sushi was not very fresh or cold, and after leaving this establishment my husband was sick for about two days. He had eaten quite a lot of sushi so it was most likely a case of food poisoning. It may have just been a weird day but we have eaten at a lot of buffets and this has never happened to us. I dont know what happened here when they reopened after covid but the food is by far the best buffet so far in lafayette they don't have seafood options for the dinner buffet if they did they would for sure beat out king buffet, which is their only competition, if they do have seafood its not their in the week nights. Food was not good as it normally is. steak tasted like shrimp which is obvious cross contamination and or spoiled food. Charged $2.95 for drinks that have no carbonation. Told them the drinks didn't taste right to which they replied "what drinks" I said "the drinks YALL brought to the table, they were disgusting you can't even drink them" and they handed my change with an attitude. DO NOT GO HERE. Terrible first experience here. The food was "ok" But the restaurant has a fly issue, they were hovering around shrimp and that was disturbing. Secondly, my daughter asked For a refill of her sweet tea and when the waitress brought it back, she took a sip and told me that it tasted funny. She stirred it and pulled up AN ENTIRE NAPKIN in her drink, it had been in the sweet tea container a while, obviously, because it was tearing and falling apart. She was disgusted and we ended our meal there. $54 for three of us down the drain! We told the waitress and she had the audacity to QUESTION us, as if we had placed the napkin in the drink. An above average Asian buffet at a pretty good price. Walking in at 3:30pm was the ultimate test of freshness for the buffet. I can attest to all of the sushi being super fresh even going between lunch and dinner time. The mei fun and egg drop soup were full of flavor, not overly salted which puts the quality above average for a Chinese buffet. Now let's talk CRAWFISH! I'd never consume crawfish from an ayce Asian buffet in South Louisiana with one exception. I saw on their Facebook that they advertised Louisiana crawfish authentically cooked every day for lunch and dinner. I figured I'd try a few and sure enough, they were boiled Louisiana style and actually were pretty good. For the price, you can't beat the quality at many other places around Lafayette. The service was also top notch and worth mentioning. The waiter was watching over 10+ tables and it never failed that as I was taking my last bite, he came and took away the empty dishes. My drink never got below half before he refilled it either. I'll be back for sure! read more

This wasn't bad... I've definitely had better. The food was completely average with slightly below average service. Self serve ice cream machine broke when I tried to fill a cup (while juggling a screaming 18 month old), I didn't want to just walk off and leave it broken and dripping and the dude seriously looked at me and said "that's not my job" and walked off... left me standing there trying to catch dripping ice cream and all. While we were in Lafayette, 2 people recommended this place to us for dinner. So we decided to try it out. They have a pretty good selection to choose from; Mongolian BBQ, sushi, seafood, Chinese dishes, a salad bar and a dessert bar. Being in "Cajun Country", they had may spicy Cajun dishes, as well as fried frog legs. (Wasn't up for trying those that night though...) The service was so-so. They weren't very friendly and the drinks did not include free refills. I suppose I'd go back again. However, there was a Golden Corral next door, that I might choose instead. I went to Buffet City at lunch time. The food was nice and hot. I requested a table for one at the back of the restaurant because I wanted to be in a quiet area and the accommodated me right away. My first plate was from the hibachi grill and it was prepared really well. After eating my first plate I fixed what I called a sample plate with a few things I wanted to taste. My favorite thing was the pizza. No it doesn't taste like eveyone's favorite pizza place, but there was something about the crust that tasted so good. There is also something called a taco roll I think that also taste pretty good. Basically its ground beef baked in a small soft shell tortilla. I found the chicken to be a little over cooked. I didn't try the desserts but there is a nice selection of sweets and fruits. read more

Last lunch stop on my Lafayette trip. Run of the mill Chinese buffet joint. Hot food was hot, cold food was cold. Sushi rolls were the same exact roll with different 'toppings'; could have done without. Very friendly and attentive staff. Every time I came back to my table, the dirty dishes were gone and there was another glass of sweet tea! #1 thing I got to experience were the CORN NUGGETS!! Imagine: deep fried creamed corn. Oh goodness gracious! Outside of the building in the monster parking lot you realize you are right across the street from walmart, the mega store, so of course you are going to the mega buffet. Watch out, though, or you will end up like many of the patrons: mega overweight. You'll enter and be greeted promptly if curtly and as you make your way past the grandiose entrance decor you will be disgusted when you are shown to your table and notice e chairs are not just worn, they are worn OUT and threadbare. The vinyl has been worn through on nearly all the seating surfaces everywhere. You are surprised that the city health code allows such ickiness...but, you came for the buffet, not the chairs. The food is...endless versions of boiled shrimp, baked or fried fish, pickled okra, sad wilted kimchee, plain looking rice, oily green beans with old black edges, crappy onion rings, soft serve ice cream, jello and then there is the Mongolian grill section and the sushi sushi section. But wait! What about the garden salad being right next to the RAW oysters? A service person was flinging the raw oysters into the pan on the buffet and the oyster liquid splashed on passage-by and on the salad! Great way to spread germs to people whose immune systems cannot handle the dangers of salmonella via oysters! But wait! There's more! The ceiling above one table was drip, drip,dripping moisture (maybe air conditioning condensation?) onto a table. Looking up, one service person decided she had the answer! She took the cloth she was using to wipe down the tables and threw it UP - not once, not twice, but FiVE times, each time slapping the cloth against the filthy black air vent. When she decided it wouldnt help anything, she shrugged her shoulders and I looked at her right in the eye as I watched what she did next - started using the same cloth to continue to wipe down tables and chairs as though nothing had ever happened! Meanwhile, the hostess came and tried to seat a family of four under that dripping vent but luckily another service person told the, this would not do as the vent was leaking onto the table. Thank goodness! Again, okay! Oh goodness gracious! For $15 a person you have all you can eat, but at what price? The owners cannot put money into recovering the chairs or providing appropriate training for their service personnel. What is happening behind the scenes? I am sure I do not want to know. read more

We love the food here and its usually always really delicious, had a bad experience one time with the seafood that leaves me hesitant to go back but its one of our favorites. The bathrooms are actually not always clean or even up to par and twice my husband has found something in his drink like a piece of food from the dishwasher? I don't know, honestly. But we've gone about 100 times, so 2 out of 100 times isn't that bad and one bad experience with seafood. I'd give it more stars if it were cleaner. However, you don't go to use the restroom-you go for the food which overall is delicious usually. The guest service is a hit or miss. read more

As far as Chinese buffets go, this one is fair. The service is exceptional. Everyone bends over backwards to take care of you. Beautiful environment, absolutely beautiful. Too bad the quality of the food wasn't as good as the physical surroundings. And at the end of the day, it's all about the food. I've been to places in California that look like that haven't been cleaned since 1982, but the quality of food makes it worth the trip. Some of the food was very bland and lacked flavor. Mostly this place works for me because it's close to home and the stores. But next time, I'll likely go elsewhere, unless in a pinch. read more

The food is fantastic! They remodeled and added big screen tv's which is so great because I can watch the games while I'm eating! The grill is the best in Lafayette! They have an American couple that run the grill and there food is out of this world! I would highly recommend it! The service is out of this world! And it makes u feel at home instead of eating at just a regular place! Try the grill it is the best!!! Man I love coming here! The Mongolian grill is the absolute best! Just don't go on Monday for the grill because the couple that cooks on it are off that day and the grill is not the same!! All the food is good but the grill makes that place! As far as all-you-can-eat Chinese buffets go, Buffet City is about the best you can get. The buffet line is always full and fresh. The atmosphere is crowded but clean.
