Buffet City is one of my favorite places. The food is very good! Shrimp, Lo Mein, rice, sesame chicken, several other dishes are available. Its been there for quite some time so a lot of people like it. And the employees are nice. However.... I visited tonight and was disappointed by a couple of things. 1. No silverware anymore. Theyve gone to plastic forks. I'm sorry but if I'm going to pay $17 for a meal, I'd at least like to have real cutlery to work with. 2. One dangerous element was that the floor are very slippery. Perhaps from condensation, i don't know. They have signs down warning that the floors were slippery, but this was unreal. A customer has the right to expect a safe environment to eat. And if someone had a bad fall and decided to sue, I'm sorry but those little plastic signs aren't going to protect the restaurant. Put a few mats down for crying out loud! When I critique a restaurant I generally judge it in its category. For an all you can eat Chinese Buffet I found this place better than typical. Granted it's not gourmet, but I wouldn't be going to an all you can eat anything if I was looking for that level of quality. Been here a few times and enjoyed the buffet quite a bit. However there are things that I think they could do much better. The food is a bit too salty for my tastes and from the dinner buffets I've been to there is not too many cooked vegetable only options to choose from which is actually why I did not leave 4 stars, however I have not had the lunch buffet only dinner so they may have them at that time instead. They add way too many onions to the beef and onion stir-fry, but that isn't too much of an issue. Nothing negative to say about the service, our waiter was good and kept our glasses full. Traveling from Texas back to Georgia, found this place and everything was ok until I found a long black hair in my food .....my parents, sister and her husband were also with us so I discretely went to the manager and showed her. She apologized and said a discount would be applied. Needles to say, I could eat anything else. At checkout, her idea of a discount was $2, upon pressing she applied $5 because she checked all the cooks hair was "very short" and she doesn't know where the hair came from. We have eaten at this place at least once a year when we attend football games in Tuscaloosa in the past 10 years. It used to be our favorite place, but the quality of food has gone down in the past several years. Today was the worst. We went in for dinner. The selection was not good. Many empty bowls with left over bits on the buffet at 6 o'clock on Saturday evening. We asked for crab legs the entire time we were there, about an hour and half, but they never brought it out. The lady kept saying they were cooking it. How long does it take to cook crab legs? She and the waitress really didn't want to deal with us so they kept walking off. We were very disappointed in the quality of food and service. Sushi was dry and gross. There were few pieces on the serving plates when we got there, they never added any fresh pieces before we left around 7:30. We won't be back. They keep their own kids in one section of the restaurant while they work and those kids were all over the restaurant with their plates. read more

I come here almost every time I visit Tuscaloosa. (I'm from here just living in Texas.) We've never had a bad visit. I enjoy the assortment of foods, and flavors. I'm extremely picky when It comes to Chinese food, and this is one of my favorite buffets. However, the exterior could use some sprucing up, new windows, fresh paint job... The interior is decent though. It looks a little ragged but don't judge the inside just by the outside. 4 stars considering everything listed above. I took my 2 grand kids to the restaurant on a Wednesday night. The smell the minute you walked in was very fishy...I thought it might be the sushi so we sat down and ordered. My grandson had sesame chicken and it looked like it had brown gravy on it...I had shrimp, took one bite and spit it out. Crunchy on the out side, slimy and nasty on the inside. My grand daughter tried to eat sweet and sour chicken but it was so hard that she could not manage to eat it without choking. I settled for the pineapple chicken and it was tough.
