every part of me just wants to write nothing but a positive review because i've been a Build A Bear fan ever since i was little, but i'm just going to be logical while writing this- plus, this is just about this specific location. for one, the selection is pretty good- i mean, the bears are cute, but ever since around 2019 and on, their bears have gotten more and more plain and minimalist. i just miss the fun variety. the price is absolutely insane. i swear, you can have experiences where you end up paying like 70 bucks on a stuffed animal depending on which one it is and if you get clothes for it or not. even as an avid stuffie enthusiast, i have to admit that that's insane. the service at this location is also very hit or miss. i've had some experiences that were lovely and wonderful, some that weren't. i have memories of being a kid and hearing my mom say that the workers were rushing us even with it being like my 10th birthday or whatever, and as an adult, i have occasionally noticed workers seeming a tad bit off towards me, being an adult who buys toys still. look, i know, it's weird, but they bring me comfort lmao. overall, it is not a terrible place at all. if you're like me and you're an adult looking to just buy yourself a new stuffed animal, you'll probably have an okay time. if you're a parent trying to plan your kid's birthday, i'd be wary. i've seen a lot go wrong in that regard! also, they took away the bathing station!! :( that's the worst part!! read more

Build A Bear is not what it used to be .. this is a money making business! They started charging for the cardboard cute boxes $.95!?!? For the child who comes in looking for the Build A Bear experience... is all in the fluff your bear. Luckily, I came in when the staff were friendly. It was quite busy Friday when it opened! I was kind and respectful to all employees, but the lady who filled up my daughter's bear was a straight up bitch. rolling her eyes at me because i couldn't hear her when she mumbles. acting like she doesn't see us waiting at the counter. acting like my quiet 3 year old was a pain in her ass. why work at a place involving kids if you don't even like them ? she RUINED my daughters experience. She filled up my daughter's bear but was very rude and seemed to have an attitude the whole time. She also rushed and ruined the experience. Even my 3 year old noticed Pricilla wasn't the "happiest" The other lady who was working was very sweet when she was interacting with guest, we personally wouldn't have mind waiting a bit longer in line for her to fill up our daughter's bear. read more

I see from the views on here (and the other review website) that this was not a pleasant place to have birthday parties, but I cannot speak on that, because I did not do that, but I did bring my child in to try out the pay your age your birthday bear. Since I have a two-year-old now, I brought her in and bought the bear and the scent that you can put inside of the bear and admittedly, I was probably more excited than she was. She didn't even pump the Stuffing, but I sure did. She did get a crown and we were told we could come in later to get a certificate for the best since she was on the verge of having a temper tantrum, although I'm sure the employees here see their fair share of those (thankfully we dodged it!). Since she is so young, I showed her the things like the clothing, but didn't choose any. Had she been older, like children who were over 4 years old, I am sure that they would captivated by all of the different clothing choices and that's where the money would definitely add up. I do think they have a great selection of different bears and lots of different characters to choose from, for a nice sentimental gift and a fun experience of pumping the stuffing into the bear. The woman who helped me was very kind, and I wish I could actually remember their name so that I could give them a shout out but she was very nice in explaining the whole process. I'd prefer to Build A Barbie, but I already did that, so maybe this is the next best thing. It's always a pleasure to come into these little kiddie stores and see some of the adorable cute stuff they have. Including Pokemon dolls! This one is up in Spring/Woodlands at the mall, and they have a good selection and very high prices. The people inside here are super super super nice - I guess they love their job. They're being really careful about distancing for the virus here which is great. Lots of clothing selection and bears. The employee who helped stuff the bears was really friendly! The only knock I have is for B-A-B corporate. It was expensive when I was a kid and they've started to nickel & dime even more. The bear with outfit, headband, & sneakers pictured was $50. They now charge for something to put your bear in to leave the store... the "gift" box used to be free it's $2.50 and the carrier backpack is $5.50. Also, it's been a long time, but a big memory I had was being able to pick from a rainbow of colorful bows to put on the bear's ears. Now they only had a couple of sets for $6 read more

I didn't know what to expect when I walked in. I only heard from others that it's expensive. It is, but it's also a customized teddy bear so anything custom is going to cost more. This wasn't so bad. Each bear we had made was less than $50 per bear. For custom look, clothing and accessories that wasn't a bad price considering you typically pay about $20-$30 for a bear off the shelf. The staff walks you through the process but also takes the kids aside when they are ready to build the bear and tells a cute story about how the pieces of the bear are part of you as well. Overall, I thought it was a good experience. I think kids 5 and older would appreciate it more than those younger than 5. read more

Really disappointed. First time coming here, google maps said it opened at 11. We were standing out front of the gate at 11. The cashier/ worker with darker hair was inside. She just let us stand there for 20 minutes Then turned the lights back off and walked away. 5 minutes later another worker showed up.. asked how come they weren't open she said they open at 12 and she doesn't know why google says 11. My daughter is sick, it's her birthday she has RSV. She told me we don't get the bear that's priced for her age unless she's present. So we bought the bear and left. Took my two year old to build her first bear ever and the woman assembling the bears did not want to be working there. I get it it's covid but damn say least make a two year old comfortable. I am upset!! You have no idea how much I was looking forward to this day bringing my kids to get their personalized bear. As a mother of 5 let me tell you that bringing them here is a luxury because it can get expensive. we have not been here since pre pandemic. Anyways, it was going well. The girl at the stuffing station was the sweetest. Anyways, my autistic son wanted me to help him find clothing for a Build a bear we have at home. As we started heading to the back this other employee literally yelled very loudly to get back to the station where I was at and everyone needed to be together?!! I feel humiliated as the other mom next to me was looking at me since it could be heard from a distance. I do not expect to be treated this way especially at this place. The woman that helped my 3 year old stuff his unstuffed puppy was adorable with her whimsy and scripted "heart" speech. It made our little impromptu trip into Build-a-Bear a magical first experience for my kiddo. We're just out here on Vacation from California, I figured "why not?" We went on a Tuesday afternoon, so of course it was rather empty but therefore all the better in terms of time spent in the store. Got our empty shell of an animal stuffed, fluffed, dressed, and purchased in about 20 minutes. (Didnt opt for making "Joey" the puppy a birth certificate, was afraid that would rack up my bill even more) Not the biggest fan of the way items are priced (can you say "gauged"?) and the staff is trained to upsale up the wazoo. I understand there's a capacity but there's a way to say it. Nobody was by the door when I walked in and then as I walk in with my friend I get surrounded incoming by 3 workers and one rude one tells me there's a capacity I need to step out. When I was able to come in the same lady that was rude about how she spoke to customers was just there watching everything you do. When I was in line to get my character filled with cotton a customer happens to be looking at the clothing on the wall while the person he was with was doing the process and the way she told him to stop blocking the pathway made the guy upset and he proceeded to say he's going to wait outside and this lady kept on and saying okay that's fine very rudely. I was fed up and just placed my character back and left, very bad experience to even enjoy stuffing my character when it's suppose to be a great time! read more

I hope to up this location back to 5 stars ASAP. Hello, I just completed your online survey about my recent visit to your store. I understand the need to limit comments by character amount but I was so unpleasantly stunned by my experience at the store in The Woodlands Mall {1201 Lake Woodlands Drive Space 1016 The Woodlands, Tx 77380 store 091 2 Cashier: Joselline invoice : 008253} that I needed to send to you my whole unedited comment that exceeded the character count by over triple the allowed. There were adequate employees yes but they were engaged in personal conversations which were clearly more important than the customers. The only one who wasn't was the one assisting people during the pre-stuffing process. When my child reached his turn at the stuffing machine there were at least 5 others behind us waiting, eight or nine employees in the store and only one of the three stuffing machines open! The store was very busy and instead of helping customers with their purchases and aiding parents in getting antsy children through the process as quickly as possible employees spent their time bringing outfits out to re stock ONE AT A TIME and wandering the store in groups of 3-5 talking to one another without EVER acknowledging a customer. When I did need to ask for assistance for a hat in the dressing area the employee who "helped " and I use the term lightly found the item handed it over, not once acknowledging my child whose critter this was {and it was/is a birthday present for him}, and returned to her interrupted conversation which she was clearly annoyed about having happened. I was truly appalled as I have never encountered such an attitude at this store since I started going in May 2006. If it isn't any different the next time I *will* drive out of my way to the Willowbrook store...and depending how things go there may abandon your business altogether {and my family has spent quite a bit of $ in almost 3 years}. This is a fantastic idea - but not when you hire people that do not care about why they are there - helping people, specifically children, literally make new friends. If you have any sort of in store/in company training every single employee at this store including the manager should go back through all of it in exacting detail because what occurred in this location Sunday Nov. 23, 2008 was completely unacceptable! This is not the kind of store where employees can have the "what do you want from me I just work here" attitude - it is too hands on and too customer involved from the moment one walks through the door. The staff here are mean, borderline cruel. Chelly berated my two-year-old for not knowing the directions or process, and was rude and sarcastic during our entire visit. Chelly didn't explain anything and we never even got a photo with our bear. I was hoping to ask for a different employee to assist us, but I was horrified to find out Chelly is the manager here. Took my niece into build-a-bear to make and spend whatever she wants the first person who helped up pick and stuff the llama she chose was very nice and patient, we were heading to dress her llama which she knew she wanted skates and shoes obviously for the skates out of nowhere came Corinne i believe her name was and she was so rude and snippy that she made the experience not great anymore, everything my niece wanted to do she had something to say about it. EX. she picked a pair of shoes and grabbed one pair her response was "that llama has four feet so your gonna need another pair" but she said it as if my 8 year old niece was not smart she continued to make comments and then went and dressed the llama and put it all together for my niece who wanted to do it on her own hints why she chose to go to build a bear. She needs to for sure fix her attitude or find another job cause your working with children on the daily. read more
