This is my third year coming to the rink, and it doesn't dissipate. A nice space with even nicer staff and lots of events for the kids. Tonight was theme night and the theme was western, and was hilarious to see all of the staff and attendees in their get ups. The Woodlands Ice Rink is by far the best ice skating rink in Houston, Texas. The staff is always friendly + professional and the ice is always kept in tip top shape. I used to go to an ice rink on the other side of Houston until my friends discovered this place. The owners are extremely friendly and are unbelievably passionate about the sport as well. This was not a bad experience at all. If you are an experienced skater, please go in there with the understanding that you won't be able to show off your skills. The ice is packed with a lot of small kids and overall inexperienced skaters. Not only that, but they admit a lot of people per session and the rink is pretty pack. With that said, if you are just looking for some casual skating, this was not bad at all. The food was expensive, $5 for hot cocoa. The gentleman at the microphone is slightly annoying, and unless you start making the line early, there is really not much seating available. Same train wreck year after year. Excessive prices, disorganized, no parking, and when an issue comes up, no attempt to correct it. This year's issues: No parking nearby AND all entrances to building off Lake Robbins are locked. Very confusing & time consuming to actually get in to the building. After you purchase the tickets online, you still have to stand in line again at the ticket counter to obtain a sticker to skate. Perhaps they can have a separate line or attendant for people who have already purchased tickets? Then another wait for skates. By the time we hit the rink after parking, nearly 30 mins passed by. They also now require you to pay for a reserved table if you want to sit inside the rink. I brought my daughter and her friend and reserved an inside table, so I could keep and eye on them and hold on to their belongings. The person at the ticket counter instructs me to look for a table with my name on it. So I spend another 10 mins looking for it with all the kids' stuff in my hands. Guess what? No table. So I go back to the ticket counter and inquire about it. Oops! Looks like for some reason, my payment on the table reservation went through. But they don't actually have any table availability for me. So they said they would refund me the cost of the table (will have to see if they actually do that). I asked what I was supposed to do, and I was instructed to sit on the benches outside the rink. I spent $50 for this fantastic experience. If the above is your idea of a great Sunday afternoon, by all means, go here. Next time my daughter begs to go ice skating here, I will really have to put my foot down and say no. A few years back (right before Covid hit), I saw an elderly woman fall and bleeding from her head on the ice. I said "we need to call 911, the woman has had a head injury and is on a blood thinner (I had asked her)." And the rink manager said, "No, we only call an ambulance if the injured person asks for one." Really? You are expecting a person bleeding from the head to take care of her own ambulance? I wish they would shut this rink down, TBH. It's awful. Update to original review: Just saw a woman sitting outside the rink in a wheelchair surrounded by EMS workers and an ambulance nearby. Love this place! Have been going for years, ever since it was in the tent. Now that's it in an enclosed place, the ice & ambiance makes it feel like you're walking into a Hallmark movie! The staff is always super friendly and helpful, and do their best to keep the place clean for each session. They started doing sessions after COVID, like a movie theatre, now they are two hours long; you can find their hours on their website (google is wrong)!!! They also bring out characters as a guest appearances for everyone to enjoy and it feels like I'm at Disneyland! Great place for a family day out during the holidays! read more

I actually had a lot of fun when i went with my boyfriend! The only downside was that there were a lot of kids when i went at 11:30, so for any couples looking to go, i think a later time would be best! But overall we had a lot of fun, idk why people are complaining so much when this is the closest skating rink to huntsville, nw, willis and conroe. Go to houston if you want to complain so much! My daughter and her guests had a wonderful experience with the characters (Elsa, Anna, & Belle) and it made for a truly special experience. Such an amazing experience, we bought tickets online and when we showed up there were employees to greet us outside and give us our tickets to go inside. The inside was clean and quite organized for the amount of people that were there, and the music was fitting to the season. Was here the other day and it didn't take me long before I got kicked out for "going too fast". If you have your own skates or appear to know what you're doing, you will be targeted, before I even entered the ice I was told that I better "keep it under control" so that I won't "scare other skaters". I would definitely recommend experienced skaters to go someplace else, such as the aerodrome, it's a bit farther but at least there you won't be stuck on overcrowded ice with so many unnecessary restrictions. read more

It's disappointing. I went years ago a couple of times, but I'm assuming that during covid they got time blocks and they are continuing the system. The building is pretty small and 1/3 of it is table, which you have to pay to reserve. I went on winter break and it was incredibly crowded. The ice was incredibly snowy and it was harder to skate on it. I feel like I've skiid down icier mountains than the ice at this rink. Back in the day I feel like this rink was bigger, there were lockers and a place to put on your shoes and ample small tables to sit around on the ice, and not just a cafeteria with 10 seater tables on one side of the rink that you're supposed to have all 4 grandparents and your best friend's 4 grandparents to sit at and talk while they don't watch you skate because they are 20 feet away from the rink surrounded by other tables. As I said, this place has gotten disappointing somehow from when it was seasonal and in a tent and overall it's better to go to any other ice skating ring so I'm going to go to the one in willbrook or in the galleria where they don't have the 2 hour block where they kick people out and smooth out the ice. Normally, places do this and let people back on, but this is the only time I've had a serious time limit. Unfortunately there are no other good ice skate rinks in that area though, so I understand why some people still like this place. Overall I didn't feel welcome there in a beorgoise way as a poor unplanned skiier who doesn't want to pay $50 for ten mintues trying to ski in an inch of snow. Located 2 blocks west of where the map shows. Once I arrived, laced up and got on the ice, there were 2 areas of the rink that are like swimming pools, because the ice is melting there. The price is pretty decent if you use the coupon on the website for $2 off, then its only $7.50 for adults. They have 2 hour skating sessions usually and the zamboni comes out 15 mins before the end of each session to clear the ice. Of course they have a concessions stand on the far end by the restrooms with popcorn, candy, nachos, junk food basically and various coffee drinks for the parents. read more

We love coming here with our kids year after year. The entertainment , decorations and staff I think are just getting better each year!!!! We did have a fall with one of our kids and the staff was right there to help us all off the ice and check us out. The Woodlands seasonal ice skating rink has Moved into the New Event Center on Lake Robbins. This is a nice enclosed structure now, not a tent. Quality has been significantly improved. Yeah! Inside has colorful strobe lights that change color with beautiful festive Christmas trees. Everyone wears a red patch that glows for safety on their pant leg. Everyone was very courteous the night I visited. Their was a happy feeling that filled the rink with many smiles and laughs. All prices are based on 2 hour sessions. Love this place. I've been coming for years and me and my family really love it especially coming on weekdays when it's not as busy. The Google hours are sometimes wrong so we call before to confirm hours or buy tickets online. I saw someone on here say that they bought tickets online and still had to wait in line to get their entry ticket. In my experience there is sometimes someone waiting outside to check you in so you can get skates right away instead of having to wait to get checked in from one of the lines (depends on how many lines are open that day). This rink is catered towards families more so than it is for experienced skaters, the managers can be strict sometimes on experienced skaters going too fast or doing tricks since there are lots of inexperienced kids. Concessions are also available (as well as a small bar) but prices can be a little high. This is the closest ice rink to my house so I really love it and there's lots of seating. You do NOT have to reserve a table if you're first in line/ early but you can reserve a table if you want to be safe. read more

It's OK. The price ($12.50) includes ice skates. They even charge for children 5 and under, which is disappointing (other places are free with adult admission). The quality of the rentals is average; your feet tend to hurt by the end. What was frustrating is that the skate trainers (for the little ones) costs $10! It's the first ice rink I've been to that charges for them. Haven't ever had this experience when ice skating in parts of the country where it snows regularly. They do give you $5 back when you return it. It should be included in the price of admission. The hot chocolate was good, but expensive. Would I come back? Not often. The one thing it has going for is that it's conveniently located in The Woodlands. It would be nice to have a permanent rink with lessons, but I guess Texans don't like to ice skate. read more

First of all, let's just say there were WAY too many people. Felt like 250% over capacity. Because the blades of the skates were so dull and didn't seem to be replaced since 2005, people were falling everywhere as their skates glided outward. Also, way too many pretentious mothers. This place has potential, but as the only ice skating rink in the woodlands, a lot more should be expected... fail. Don't take your kids here unless you want them to get hurt and lose all their fingers from someone with ice skates 2x too big because they weren't told the correct sizing protocol when it comes to skates. There is also only one entrance and exit to the kitty-sized ice rink. I could go on, but would not recommend this place. Do not waste your money here. You might as well make a day out of it and go to the Galleria. read more

Printed off coupon for entrance that stated nothing about not applying to the 5 year old rate. After the person at the counter was so rude in her responses, I asked for manager. Could care less about the price of the coupon, was about the principle of being treated fairly as a customer. The manager emerged with an equally hostile attitude to say that he would in no way honor that coupon, that he didn't make it and he didn't have to honor it... using phrases like "Look lady"... This is a charming holiday tradition in the woodlands- go early or on weekdays to avoid the high school crowd. Its such a festive touch to the holidays in the middle of waterway square compete w a giant christmas tree and holiday lights.
