The vibe at the shop like going to a very familiar place even if you've been here for the first time. I was working in the area for a little while and I'm a fan of savory pies. wow! Went for the first time the other day and ordered 3 pies. All 3 pies were incredible. They are generous on the filling for the pies. The crust is so light and flaky but doesn't fall apart. The brisket is insanely tasty and so is the curry chicken. We also had a pineapple pie which we thought would be probably some fruit filling out of a can but it is actually straight pineapple. I would've liked less potatoes/sweet potatoes in the Chicken Curry Pie and Mama's Lamb and not over cook it so the vegetables don't turn into mush. My friend and I stopped here on December 28th after we had seen multiple tick tock videos about this fabulous little food place.. It is located in a little strip of stores and make sure to look at the signs I almost walked into the wrong place. So the space itself is quite intimate you have some seating inside by the window and then outside as well probably a total of 12ish people in all can be in those two spaces. Our experience was really nice. The individual behind the register greeted us with a seasonal greeting and then asked us if we had any questions about the menu. My friend had already decided what he wanted based on the tick tock videos and I was all for the lamb pie that they had. He chose the beef stew and barbecue pies. We also got the banana pudding and the very swirl pudding. Overall our favorite was definitely the lamb pie it had just an amazing assortment of flavors and the lamb did not have any gaminess at all. The other two pies were also delicious and for those for me personally they were enhanced by using their chili sauce that they had in the store. I really appreciated the size of each pie definitely a meal. The pudding themselves we liked the banana pudding but the very swirl definitely had more of a bite to it when you bit into the actual berries. I went in early and couldn't smell any pie baked or ingredients cooking to add to the ambiance and validate freshness of pies. I bought a variety of pies that included , but were not limited to, the King Kapisi, one filled with taro leaves, minced, beef, veggie etc. Comparing it to a Marie Calendar pot pie or NZ meat pies, the pies would definitely improve if it had more moisture. Everything was too dry. It might have tasted great the first few hours after baking but being heated in the food warmer could have robbed the pie of any remaining moisture.
