Such a hidden gem! We absolutely loved Drift Benicia. The coffee was beyond delicious, but the adorable kids' play area is what really made the experience for us. Our twins played so hard and were having so much fun that they barely even noticed we were there, which meant we actually got to sit, relax, and enjoy a hot cup of coffee for once! Great service, welcoming and not scare of toddlers. Such a cute, welcoming space for families, and such a thoughtful concept for parents with little ones. The seats are comfy, they have plugs, the ambiance is cozy, and the staff is very friendly (shout out to Mark for the hospitality and quality yap) They sold out of pizza by the time I got there (4pm on Saturday) but it allowed me to order the pistachio affogato instead and it was delicious! My husband and I love coming here to Benicia and walking up and down first street. Its such a peaceful and lovely time! We came across this coffee shop after eyeing it for a bit, its also a great halfway point for us on our walks. I usually order the iced matcha lavender vanilla latte. Its really refreshing and tasty. The vanilla syrup is just right, its not too overwhelmingly sweet! My husband likes the ube latte, whenever they do have it! I've never got their food but their matcha is always my go-to. They have seating inside and outside and all the staff have been so friendly every time I come in! Sometimes they have some really cool events. Right off the get, I was like yes...this is the spot I'm going to cozy up to with a window view to get some work done (and yes, they have WiFi). I was indecisive on what I wanted to order and the crew helped to guide me with what's popular/hot ticket items to order. They mentioned they're known for their focaccia, so I ordered an avo focaccia and an iced honey latte. The presentation alone for my drink was *snaps* worthy. Loved the reusable straw, and was such a great sipping experience. The focaccia was yummy too, although I wish it was hot out the oven (I know, I know, but I'm Italian). It came topped with cherry tomatoes, cojita cheese, tajin, lime slices, and everything seasoning ($14). What a charming little spot. Definitely small but cute and quaint. i ordered a Pastry to share with my mom and I nearly ate the whole thing because it was so delicious. Warming it up is always such a Great touch!! The service was quick and helpful they were super friendly, and helped me with my order. Drift in my eyes is our towns little European cafe. If you need a tasty light bite, this is the place to go. We recently went here for pizza but we've been here plenty of times. I know one of the owners would post pictures of herself in Europe before they established themselves on 1st street. When we were in Barcelona a couple of years ago there was a bakery that reminds me so much of this cafe. So that's why I think about Europe anytime I go here. I've never had a bad pizza here. My favorite pasty here is the Conchiglia. It's this buttery and flakey pastry that has this special Italian cream in it. It's the best thing there. You won't be disappointed. This is a cute little cafe on 1st Street. There is plenty of patio seating with blankets and umbrellas! They have a little dog water bowl near the door. I grabbed lunch by myself (and with my dog today). The service was superb! The menu is very easy to read. I appreciate how they have serving size suggestions and sample cups behind the cashier so you know what 12 oz or 16 oz etc looks like! Pastries vary daily. So take a peek to the right of the register to see what they have in stock. This particular day I opted for a 16 oz iced taro milk tea and the lunch sized (1.5 slices) prosciutto and arugula pizza! I was ask if it's to go or for there. I told her I'd be on the patio so she put it as for here and brought for the food/drink out to me! How nice! That's really appreciated since it can be a little difficult going out with a dog and not having a second person to help. I really enjoyed the taste of both items! The drink came out in a glass cup complete with a glass straw. How eco friendly! The pizza came out not too long after on a metal tray with utensils and napkin. You really get the taro flavor in the drink. There may have been sprinkles on the top of the drink too. The pizza was delicious! It was a great blend of cheese, a bit of acidity from the balsamic. They didn't skim on the prosciutto. It was well balanced. It was also a good portion. It was exactly lunch sized. I ate it all and was pleasantly full. For clean up please bus yourself. There are bins and a cart near the door. My total came out to around $30 after tax/tip. It's a little pricy. Every single visit we've had at this place has been such a wonderful experience. The staff & owners truly provide the utmost hospitality--their smile's and energy are oh so welcoming every time! Our 3/6 visit in particular was simply the perfect way to spend our Friday morning. Jocelyn was super friendly and thoughtful in taking our order--she provided such great recommendations that we kept going back to the register to order more. This is one of the nicest spots in Benicia for a good cup of coffee, and their focaccia is excellent. I love their insulated coffee cups that keep my coffee HOT even if I drink it slowly. They offer a selection of delicious pastries, both sweet and savory, plus house-made focaccia with various toppings, as well as excellent focaccia pizza. The owners are friendly, and take care with the customers, many of whom are regulars. They stay open in the evening (5-8 pm) one day per week. Usually Thursdays when the farmers market is open, and I think they may switch it to Fridays after October. During their "late hours", they offer $5 glasses of wine, and $5 focaccia pizza. A generous pour and a generous slice, and the wine is good. The cafe itself is small. It has comfortable but limited seating on the inside, and a nice seating area outside, right on First Street, so there's plenty to watch. This is one of the more comfortable and pleasant casual places in Benicia to sit and have a cup of coffee or something to eat. read more
