What an AMAZING 6-course meal with Chef Aaron's take home kit! It's been a long time since we've had a meal from a restaurant especially during COVID that we are raving about. I just so happen saw it on Tock and thought I'd try it out because the menu sounded good and we want to support our local businesses as much as we can! Chef Aaron is without question a talented chef!!! We appreciated every amount of thought and creativity to put a meal like this together, on top of that making sure it is easy to prepare at home and still taste good! The quality of ingredients were top notch and the flavors were robust and perfection! The menu we had tonight is below. I'm not a gazpacho or melon fan but both dishes surprised me and we really enjoyed it. I also really liked the mushroom eggplant appetizer, and the Osso Bucco was wow! I could've just licked the au jus from the plate if I wasn't so full! Portions are very generous and the kits are very reasonably priced!! We will definitely try his other take out kit menus and once restaurants reopen and this whole COVID situation is under control, we will for sure be dining at his location! Wow!!!!!!!!! My girl friend brought me to the Bull & Dragon for my birthday, and it was with out a shadow of a doubt the best dinner i have ever been treated to. The private dinner parties are hosted in Chef Aaron's back yard. It is a very adorable back yard. He has a nice little garden that is just off to the side of the dinner table, and as it turns out a lot of the ingredients come from that garden. The concept of small garden to table and to be able to see the garden that your food comes from as you eat is wonderful and really adds to a great culinary experience. As it turns out Chef Aaron bases his menus of of what is local and in season, so with that in mind i wont go into what the dishes where as you most likely wont have the same meal. Chef Aaron truly is an amazing talent. Every dish he served us was not only beautiful put together and visually stunning he really does know how to construct a perfectly balanced dish that flow seamlessly into the next course. Along with his ability to server amazing dishes he knows exactly what wine too serve with his food. In our 6 courses we where poured 3 different wines and i now have 3 new favorite wines. We enjoyed a lovely at-home dinner date thanks to Bull & Dragon. Our 6 course meal was unique and very filling. Course #1 was my favorite. It was a mushroom bruschetta. The crustini was crispy and garlic-y and the topping was delicious. Next, we enjoyed a burratta and melon salad and it was very refreshing. After that, a smoky tomato gaspacho, that I wouldnt think I'd like but ended up liking more and more with every spoonful. Next we had a tasty risotto dish and finally, at the point of being stuffed, managed to eat a small bit of meat. I had to save the homemade cheesecake for the next day. read more

We had to avoid fire, burning ashes, spiders, and the outdoors. Women will hate this place because your hair will be filled with ashes from the uncontrolled fires around the dining area. If your girl is like mine she will struggle to keep her hair and makeup safe. If I had know my wife would have to kill spiders in her purse we would have never came her. It's just in some dudes back yard which is super shitty. Only one bath room so get ready to wait in line. Food sucked. Do not bring a date here. Open style dining so strangers will bore you. Food does not cure autism, jerkface. My brother is autistic and everything you said is offensive. Clean food will not regrow the parts of his brain That are missing and unconnected. I stumbled upon Bull & Dragon by mistake and made last minute reservations for my husband, a friend and I. It turned out to be a great idea! ! To begin with, Aaron's house is 5 minutes from where we live, which may be bad news, because we may have to go back too often. The ambience is romantic and the food delicious. The dishes are very creative, using seasonal ingredients and never fussy. It is very clean food, which is my favorite. We also got very lucky that the other two couples who we shared the table ended up being incredibly fun, good company. It felt like we were guests at a friend's house and I honestly felt bad that I wasn't helping to clear the table and do the dishes, lol. The one and only criticism I would make is that Aaron doesn't like to use much sugar in his desserts, so for a real dessert junkie like me, the chocolate souffle (one of my favorite things of all time) could have used more sugar. Obviously, that is just a personal preference...I would definitely recommend trying this experience and plan to go back again soon myself. read more

I had a friend shared a brisket and pulled pork sandwich with me the flavor just amazed me , it was so good,the meat so tender and soft the BBQ sauce was flavorful extremely unique ,the meal came with theses amazing sweet potato chips never had nothing like them so crunchy sweet and salt i just could not stop eating them ,and there was a potato salad i never had in my like so yummy , if any one has an opportunity to the BBQ its just amazing read more

Wow. If I had to pick one word to summarize my experience, it would have to be "wowowowowow". First off, the food was incredibly delicious. Not like, "oh, that's nice, not too bad!" but "holy shit woah!" I've been to a few tastings before where some of the dishes are amazing and others are just alright, but I have to say that every single one of these plates was incredible. You can really taste the delicate, complex flavors happening with every dish. Amazing flavors and textures. Everybody at my table had such a deep appreciation for the food because not only was it delicious, some of the ingredients had been curing for YEARS! This isn't just a food experience though - it's a life experience. Sitting with a bunch of strangers sounds like it could be weird, but every single person in my group was so down to earth and fun to talk to, it made my boyfriend and I realize that we should meet new people more often. I think perhaps one of the most beautiful parts of the night wasn't the amazing food or company, but the fact that Chef Aaron is pursuing something that's so different from what people in the culinary industry normally pursue. Doing something new is always risky, but his execution is 10/10 and I'll be coming again! Tldr; I 100% recommend this to anybody who wants a memorable night. If your looking for quality, chef Aaron provides only the finest. Being a passionate environmentalist but also an avid meat lover, I found chef Aaron to be perfectly in line with my culinary needs. He truly cares not only for his guests and their experience, but also about the animals he hand butchers and prepares. His steaks and own Venice cured Ham (prosciutto) are aged and dried in house, and the vegetables served are grown by him or local farmers. After loving his old spot, I am pleased to say The new one is even better! Set in his charming backyard in Venice, you enjoy a 6 course cannabis infused extravaganza pared with the perfect wines. Seating is family style so get ready to meet some awesome Venice locals and a few adventurous tourists looking for a taste of LA and Cali life. WOW WOW WOW! I randomly came across an intimate pop up brunch event on 8/16/15 hosted by Chef Aaron Ziegler and being an adventurous diner, I bought 2 tickets. Love that we could bike to the new location, (Not the location mentioned in the other review). Upon our arrival the first group was just finishing up and we were greeted with Champagne by Ryan who would be our our server for this exciting experience. Ryan is very out going and personable. Once we were escorted to the table we met Chef Aaron who explained the menu he had selected for us that day and I wanted one (sometimes 2) of EVERYTHING! Glad I rode my bike lol. I loved that were siting right there in the garden where the ingredients are grown and Chef Aaron cures his own meats. YUMM-O! I ordered his version off Eggs Benedict and my BF had a short rib dish. We shared bc they were too good to have just one. Chef's love for creating shines through in the food and you can taste the passion ^_^ I am absolutely thrilled with my choice to take a chance on the pop up brunch and we cannot wait to join Chef again to see what he has created. read more

Our tasting dinner last year was an amazing sampling of local, organic, and sustainably harvested ingredients. The acorn fed prosciutto was cured on site in Chef Aaron's meat locker, and we could taste the delicate, earthy balance in the melt in your mouth meat. The prawns from Santa Barbara were beautifully served and bursted with fresh ocean flavor and a carefully balanced sauce. Perfectly paired red wine complimented each course, and the conversation with guests from Sweden, Venice, Boston and Montana made the entire event feel like a backyard dinner party, but with cuisine you could find at a high end restaurant on Abbott Kinney or in Malibu. Went here expecting a first class dining experience, what I got was cold outdoor bench seating, open flames casting sparks, smoke, and ash over our entire expensive dinner. It was freezing, being that it was outside a GIANT spider crawled into my purse, i had to shoo it out and kill it, and im EXTREMELY arachniphobic and it was literally the worst $270 dining experience I have EVER had. I would also like to add that at one point the chef told us that organic farming could cure Autism! I don't know why I was so polite about this whole experience, i can think of 3 times during this dinner that i should have walked out. read more

I was blown away with the atmosphere Chef Aaron created using the house and kitchen as part of the dining experience. Then the food came and I was wowed again with the complex flavors from farm sourced meats and produce. The science behind the infusions were very interesting and just the right amount to get the whole group talking and enjoying themselves As for Eric and his wife who claim to have had a bad experience, I am perplexed that he remembered anything due to double fisting wine entire night. His addition to the conversation was discussing classic wrestlers in great detail... but I guess we are the lame ones lol. Take his comments with a grain of salt. read more

This was an evening my wife, our friends, and I will never forget. Sitting under the stars in Aaron's backyard and eating his absolutely incredible food was such a special and fun experience. I can't say enough positive things about it. We all loved how he explained each dish and the story behind everything---from the way he sources his food to the infusions. The wine paring was perfection as well. I'm almost afraid that too many people will find out about this remarkable and under the radar dining experience, but the truth is that everyone deserves to experience this. Thank you so much, Aaron. This pop up is a surprise. The food was terrific. The oysters were fresh and tasty. Chocolate soufflé topped everything off. It's very different than most restaurants on the ambiance. I would recommend checking it out if you are in the area. read more

Our wine group had an event this last Saturday (7/7/15) at chef Aarons home where he hosts pop-up dinners. The event was to be a casual wine dinner and not a formal wine tasting per se. The organizer (as well as all those who signed up) believed that this was going to be a sit-down type of event. We found out a few days before however that there apparently had been a "miscommunication" and that the chef had in fact been planning for a stand-up sort of thing. We asked if we could get a sit down setting (since this is what we were all expecting) but were told that it was not possible. The chef did say however that he would provide us with about 20 chairs (which were old, worn and uncomfortable). The cost for the meal/venue was $65 per person...for which we received essentially finger food. His contribution consisted essentially of slapping down 5 platters of food (which he replaced when they were emptied, I'll give him that much) under a canopy. Although I can't say that the food was bad, I can say that it was just OK (one of the items was a grilled cheese sandwich, really). So for $1,755, 27 of us essentially got happy hour finger food ! The chef advertizes his space as being in a garden setting. Folks, nothing could be further from the truth. If you do go to his brunches/dinners or whatever else he organizes be aware that you'll be eating on a concrete driveway facing a garage door or a fence. The back yard is, to use an adjective heard throughout the night, a dump. He's done NOTHING to make the space look cozy, warm or hospitable. It's just a concrete covered yard with not a blade of grass. All in all VERY disappointing. It's overall quite appalling that he would charge us $65 per person, for ordinary appetizers in a mess of a back yard. We essentially felt ripped off. Do yourself a favor...go elsewhere...you've been warned. read more
