I felt pressured, not cared about as a customer, not educated on what bike to get and honestly I found an awesome used bike at a different shop. I had a different idea on what type of store this way, thought they would have more used bikes and be more supportive of their customers. We rented a tandem bike from a known rental in DC; the bike was rickety and took effort even on the completely flat route we were on. My GF found Pedego and opted for the tandem electric bike. This was a 180 degree experience from the other rental company jn DC. The owner was friendly, attentive, enthusiastic and really made us feel welcome. He knows his bikes gave us a quick run down that made us feel comfortable. The bikes are impeccabley maintained and he's thought of everything including helmets, storage pouch, bike lock, flat tire kit etc. He was even extremely well versed on the route to Mt. Vernon. Every pointer he gave us was spot on. We made it to Mt. Vernon and enjoyed food, history, and culture. The way back was fun since the bike did all the work, electric is the way to go for tandem bike long hauls. I plan on coming back to buy some accessories for my own fat tire e-bikes. This was a memorable experience that was easy and affordable.

I have been going to this shop since it's inception. The owner danny built my kona bicycle from nothing, and had I known his shop or had it been open I would have bought that bike through/from him. He also has helped me build another TT/Tri bike, which was fully outfitted with parts from Bull Run Bicycles, fully Dura Ace Components and custom powder coated by Len at Figure Finishing(another awesome business in town). Then Finally, I got to buy my brand new Masi Evo through Danny in December of 2012. Here is the link to said bike: (http://www.masibikes.com/bikes/carbon/evoluzione-dura-ace-2012). This is by far the best and most durable bicycle I have ever ridden. It has held up through 3 wrecks this race season, and I have just over 8,000 miles on it at this point in the year. Recently, Danny and I added a quarq power meter crank to it, and it is awesome. That crank is taking my crank to a whole new level. This is by far the best bike shop I have ever went to, and it truly gives you the small town business feel that is lost at other shops. The shop is a one man operation and Danny works very hard to keep everyone happy. I won't shop at other shops, online or anywhere else. There is something to be said for purchasing your stuff local, supporting a local business, and supporting the owners family. Especially when he is the one you interact with, he is the one to help you with a flat on a group ride, or will tune your derailor when you are simply out on a training ride and stop in. I'll never shop anywhere else, and will use Danny with out a question or hesitation. As a racer in the DC/Metro area my equipment has to be fine tuned and running efficiently because the difference between missing a shift and making a shift is the difference between a podium and 10th place. Danny always has my bike ready to race, ready to ride, and functioning like it's brand new. I brought it to him one saturday afternoon after a terrible wreck which launched me over a fence, it was all out of wack. It took about a half hour, but he had the bike in tune, the wheels true, and ready to race again sunday morning. HOW MANY SHOPS WILL DO THAT FOR YOU? read more

I'd like to say that Bull Run Bicycles in Manassas, VA is a top notch shop. Danny Quirk is a great mechanic and the most honest person I've met in the business. He does a lot for the community, takes care of customer's bikes AND does deliver when promised. If anyone thinks that is untrue, they must have misunderstood. 'The lady' that works there is also knowledgeable and professional, and I know Danny is lucky to have her there. For one thing, it allows him to be able to sometimes get out on the Tuesday night group shop rides, which are awesome. No rider dropped, nice route, very nice people, all good. I brought my 33 year old Nishiki road bike in hoping I could add more gears since I absolutely love the bike. Bull Run Bikes is one of the best, if not the best, local bikes shops in NoVA. Danny, BRB owner and one of the best mechanics in NOVA, has been fixing my bikes for years. I have been to all the shops in Northern Virginia over the years. This is the best one for service, honesty, prices, etc. While I was at the store, I met a gentleman from Warrenton, who drives to Manassas each time he needs an item or work done on his bike. My experience there had been relatively positive over the past 7-8 years, but at this point I wouldn't trust them even with a basic service. I initially had a minor back-and-forth with their staff regarding incorrect charges on my receipt. While they did eventually issue a refund, I had to return shortly after for a follow-up service because the tubeless setup wasn't done correctly the first time. To make matters worse, I am reasonably certain my bike was intentionally damaged while in their care during that second visit, likely by a staff member in retaliation. Unsurprisingly, the owner has denied any wrongdoing and refused to accept any responsibility or accountability for the damage. I have been going to Haymarket Bicycles purely for convenience as they are located right down the street from me, but proximity is no longer a factor. For riders looking for trustworthy alternatives, I highly recommend Danny at Bull Run Bicycles or Chris at Blue Ridge Cyclery, both of whom have provided excellent, reliable service in the past.

When I went to pick up the bike, Steven greeted me when I walked in. He went over the work that was done and asked if I had any questions. It was a smooth and easy process.
