Bays can't be beat. Plenty of space for various exercises, some have distances marked (great addition), and great for pistols and rifles. Shot 9mm and 5.56 firearms for 4 hours. The time flew right on by. Exceptionally friendly and fun staff. Highly recommend the bays. Will have to try out the public ranges sometime and am considering taking a class or two. read more

I live 40 minutes from here. I drive here to shoot at the private bays. I show up at 2 pm. They say there's an hour wait so I get my name on the list and I'm next in line for a private bay. I wait for 45 minutes in the parking lot by the front door and I go inside to check if it's ready. They say they've given my bay away to someone else because they called my name twice outside. I was right there. I didn't hear it. First of all, no one wants to wait an hour outside in august to give you business. It's over 100 degrees and I've got a bad back so waiting outside for 45 minutes just to have my spot given away, when I was exactly where they told me to be when they would call my name, is unacceptable. I guess the guy "shouting" my name doesn't have the gusto needed to make himself heard. That or he is completely mistaken on calling out my name. It's 2022. Implement some sort of calling/texting system or something other than just "wait outside in the 100 degree heat outside of our building and listen for your name". I paid to become a member here and I've been a member for years. I've brought other people here and got them to become members. I've helped grow their business for them. Now I will be helping to shrink their business at any opportunity I can. I'm active in the gun community, especially in San Antonio and online. They burned me and they guy did not care at all and just said "well I called your name". The private bays are cool, but the method is awful. It wasted my entire day and ruined my plans with my family. Calling out to notify someone their bay is ready with cars driving by and gunshots being fired right next to you is pretty foolish, not caring when you've wasted my time because of your foolish method is even worse. read more

Well I was excited to go to a shooting range for my first time and I came hear since it was close. I proceeded on going, so once I got there the guy right off the bat was rude to me and two others i came with. We paid almost $60 for 3 of us when after calculations should of came out cheaper from the prices shown. We were there for an hour until notified we couldn't shoot a certain gun in that area, when he should've told us in the beginning we couldn't shoot that gun. Then we were going to move to that area and the employee was telling us he was going to kick us out due to the fact he didn't tell us before hand we couldn't shoot a specific weapon there, it wasn't even posted online that we couldn't take it. So we were then asking to move to the designated area and the guy was rude saying they're talking to others who are going to that area and saying they have it reserved for them when I didn't know you could do that. I understand there are policies but he should've let us know before making those comments about kicking us out, I was so ready to come have fun and have a good experience first time shooting a gun and stuff but he made it miserable. I will come back again due to other associates treating us well and with respect which made me want to comeback besides that other person who was rude. Let's see how the next visit goes, by then I will do a follow up review, hopefully a better experience. read more

Once you get through the hassle of checking in, the range is just "ok". Dirty and run down, and they need to figure out a better solution of hanging targets in bays than just hanging them on some 550 cord. Pretty much the dumbest method of hanging targets ever. The staff have worst attitude of any business I've ever been to. It's almost as if you are inconveniencing them to pay to shoot there. The main reason for the one star is the skinny little nerd with the single action revolver hanging off his hip like he's some sort of gunslinger. Its convenient to where I live, and there are several ranges you can use. If you have a rifle, you can use the 100/200/300 yard ranges, there's a 50 yard range, a private range and the pistol range. Come prepared with your own ear defenders and glasses. They will let you loan them but come on. It seems like there are a lot of people who've worked there. There's one guy who I asked about a Wednesday discount (the owner had told us about it), and he said it was too late to get the discount since I didn't ask him before he told us how much it cost. I thought, what a DB. I haven't seen that guy since. My only real problems there have been caused by other patrons; don't look for BH personnel to help you out even when the know these other patrons are being jerks. This is kind of crazy but true: I can hear the gunfire from the range and we don't live near BH. I can't even imagine what the people in the housing development they opened 3-4 years ago must think, because it's open until 8 pm. It's less than a half-mile from the place. So it goes; don't buy a house near the airport. read more

If you like to shoot for plinking, zero your hunting rifle or if you are in the military or police related work the Bullet Hole is the place for you. If you don't have a pistol or a rifle they have a variety of rental options and ammunition. They are FFL licensed and you can buy and transfer weapons through them. The staff is very knowledgeable and eager to help any shooter of any level. As the only range in San Antonio proper with ranges at 50, 100, 200, up to 300 yards and a large pistol range at affordable prices. They have private bays that can be reserve by individual or groups. There is always lots of training going on specially by law enforcement members and NRA sanctioned classes such as CCL. Bottom line the Bullet Hole is a true public shooting range open to any shooter. I give them a five star rating. read more

Great range. I am usually here for training every week but also get a private bay on the weekends. The 100-300 yard rifle is nice. The 50 yard rifle can get cramped at times as well as the pistol line. The private bays are what you need to look at when you come here. read more

The place was a dump. The paths weren't kept up and because it rained the night before the hole place could have doubled as a mud wrestling pit. The targets were held in place with 550 para cord so when the guy next to you shoots the cord ( which actually happened) and your target is flapping around in the wind it doesn't make for a fun shoot. Plus the range safety officer was calling for a cease-fire every 5-10 minutes. Worst shooting experience ever. read more

Shooting is supposed to be a fun experience especially after purchasing a new rifle. I went to the Bullet Hole on Grossenbacher Road to shoot my new henry 22 caliber rifle and they wouldn't let me shoot a rifle on the 25 yard public range this after they had my money,told me I had to go to the 50 yard range yet if I want to pay extra money and rent a private range I could shoot on that 25 yard range makes no sense especially when there was nobody out there on the public 25 yard range. I highly recommend spending your money elsewhere! Not to mention this place is a mud pit. Will not go back!!! read more

My first experience at this place was horrible.the weekends at this place is very dangerous.lots of people going there are inexperienced and scary to be around so we started renting private bays.well yesterday I shot my 1911 only to have the bullet ricochet of other bullets in the berm and hit me in the chest.it did not pierce my skin but it let me know for sure what had happened.i told the front desk that they need to clean the berms of lead (which we saw had thousands of rounds visible).they replied "well there's only two of us so what do you expect".be very careful if you choose this place!. read more

Great place to shoot. Been coming here for years and I always have a great time. The staff are friendly and approachable, they also take safety seriously which is something I appreciate. I recommend going during the week when it's less crowded or early in the morning, but it's still fun even when packed. If you're an experienced(competent in gun safety) enthusiast and enjoy some space, I recommend renting a private booth (definitely worth the extra $). Since it's outside it can get kinda hot during summer (still way better than indoor ranges lol), so I suggest wearing something light and breathable but still enough coverage to protect from hot brass. Also I took the CHL (license to carry) class there. Michelle taught the class and was very thorough and informative. Bring your own lunch and arrive early to get a good seat! read more

They also would not allow us to add more shooting time without leaving and returning even when there were no registrants in line for our bay, which i thought was odd. I traveled here with my gf and it was her fist time ever at a shooting range. The staff was very helpful and professional. They made sure we had the best experience possible as well as the safest. Even though they were very crowded we were never once rushed or pressured to hurry it up. We took our time with everything and were walked through it step by step. Enjoyed my first visit. Nothing fancy here as far as the range goes, and that's how I like it!! It meets your needs and the staff was friendly. They DO NOT frown upon rapid fire drills on the pistol range!!!!!! The range officer even went on break and allowed us to take over. I called a cease fire on a group of 6 shooters that mutually agreed it was time to change targets. I cleared the weapons and we all changed targets. The RO showed up and had nothing negative to say. We shot into the dark and the targets needed more illumination, but that is my only complaint. Will definitely go back!! read more

Great place to shoot. I go here once or twice a week. You can move from the 50yd to 100, 200 or 300yd lines with no problems. One fee will cover the whole day, all the ranges and all your guns. They can be strick about the 5 second between shots rule. read more

Okay, so I am a pretty girly girl, but my husband had been pressuring me to learn how to shoot a gun in case I ever needed to for protection. He took me to the Bullet Hole and I actually really enjoyed myself. Pros: There's something for everyone (pistol/shotgun range), 100 and 300 yard rifle range, they sell guns and ammo, you can rent it there as well (free if you buy their ammo), and a knowledgeable, friendly staff that are very safety-oriented. Cons: sort of far from where I live on the Northeast side and it can get packed on certain holidays. I do feel more comfortable now shooting a gun and will hopefully be back there soon. read more

Pros: - $11 to use the handgun range, they accept credit cards (cash has a small discount). This includes eye/ear protection they loan to you - May bring your own bullets of any casing kind (e.g. Nardis only allows brass type casings) - The parking lot may seem small, but I recently discovered there is additional parking on the opposite side of the parking lot - They allow you to bring target stickers to put over their paper targets - Staff is indeed friendly. Some are quiet, but I haven't sensed negative vibes from any of them. Staff is also strapped so I like that they are friendly Meh: - It is a bit of a drive - but worth it. - I wish they had more handgun stalls. I'm typically lucky to find a spot... I have witnessed some of the range staff find a spot for customers walking in - something I really appreciated. Anyways, I do feel a little anxiety sometimes when my casings land on the carrying cases of the shooter next to me... :/ Cons: - Their front desk can get a bit crowded and overwhelming, especially if you have social anxiety like yours truly... Nevertheless, in all my visits staff has been diligent and professional. I hope this never changes!! Overall Rating: - 4.9554 stars. This is my favorite shooting range so far. read more

I grew up in the country. I am used to being able to go into the yard, put up a few Coke cans, and shoot them down at anytime. I now live in San Antonio where this is frowned upon..perhaps even illegal. I have shot on many a San Antonian firing range, and all of them are too structured for my likes...except the Bullet Hole. Very unregulated, and until a couple years back the shooters played range safety as well. I do not recommend this place to unsafe people, but if you can avoid looking down the barrel of your own weapon, and keeping your weapon pointed in a safe direction at all times enjoy. read more

The staff is extremely rude and condescending. I have been here 6 times and every time the staff is rude and talk to me like a child.They are extremely demanding and try to make you feel stupid. They have a strict one shot every 5 seconds rule. My friend shot every 4 and they called a seize fire and yelled at us in front of everyone and threatened to kick us out, so I deliberately took my time and shot every 10-12 seconds and they still kicked us out. The parking lot is full of pot holes and falling apart. The targets are held in place by a paperclip and 550 paracord. They call a seize fire every 10 minutes. shooting rests are cheap plastic and very old. But my biggest problem was with the extremely rude staff. These guys give a bad name to the firearm community. Went with a friend for shooting 3 pistols. $9.50 each person, great deal. They provided each of us a target for hanging up. Suggest you bring extra targets to refresh them or pay them $1 for a new one. Very nice staff and range safety officers. Thanks, Martin! read more

Great range for the price I usually go Saturdays afternoons and there's a staff member who cares and shows you how to properly hold a gun and there's even people that are nice enough to let you shoot there guns on the opposite if you go to shoot at a private bay which is 15 dollars and want to try the 100 yards you have to pay 9.50 to go use it. read more

Bush league. Went there today and stood in the non-moving line for awhile. Only one guy behind the counter responsible for everything from renting weapons to issuing photo ID to renting range space. First time at gun range and could not have asked for a better place to start. They had a great instructor and very welcoming to newbies.

I would like to select ZERO stars, but it was not an option. I just paid $40 in forfeit fees because an incredibly rude guy, Mark Johnson who claims to be the owner, told me he didn't feel comfortable giving me the class he so nicely convinced me to sign up for one month ago. He was out of control when I called to ask if the class would be held outdoors so I could dress appropriately. First, he told me I was not signed up for the class. When I explained that I had a receipt with the date in question and that he texted me the previous day to confirm, he started yelling at me and telling me I was being rude. I remained calm and patient as he kept yelling and lecturing and would not allow me to say anything. After several minutes of being scolded, he asked me if I wanted to "try again." I told him no; I wanted my money back, and I did not want my daughter to take a class with him either. He said I could not cancel even though my receipt explicitly says you can cancel up to 24 hours in advance or pay a $20 range forfeit fee. What a scam, but I rather pay the $40 than tolerate this jerk for a whole day. STAY AWAY!!! read more

Been shooting for years. Haven't shot at Bullethole in quite some time and remember it back when it was basically just a hole. Staff was helpful and friendly as much as they could be with all the covid BS going on and the multitude of people coming and going. Pistol range is pretty good. You have cease fires pretty regularly. Safety is pretty good. Some people get butt hurt when called out about not being in front of the line or touching their firearms or material during the cease fire. They need to grow up and follow directions. The range masters are pretty civil compared to what I would do in their shoes when it comes to entitled people thinking they are more special than clearly announced safety mandates and instructions. Overall the prices are reasonable,including the ammo they sell, for shooters only, and the place is pretty typical for an outdoor gun range. Not fancy or Gucci in any way. It's just casual, simple, and adequate. I do think they need to look into getting another set of bathrooms closer to the office. Hand washing after shooting and health breaks are a walk if you need them and are at the office or the pistol range read more

It was my first time at the Bullet Hole and I enjoyed it. I came on a Sunday afternoon in December where the weather was about 60 degrees. I was breaking in a new pistol I just bought so I used the pistol range. There were a lot of shooters that day but didn't have to wait. There were a couple of veteran shooters who moved their gear over so I could fit in a lane and they explained the rules of the range to me. Overall the facility was acceptable. I didn't see any problems with safety as the line judge was firm but respectful. He ensured the range was hot and cold appropriately and that firearms were safely secured when necessary. The staff was friendly even when there was a lot of chaos going on with so many customers. Pricing was decent as it was about $11 for a days shooting. I bought a box of 380 ammo and it was right on par with what you would pay at other establishments like Bass Pro. I like that you can bring in your own ammo. The only quam I had was that I was a little lost when first showing up in that there were no obvious signs on where the main office was as well as how the range worked. I may have missed the signs as there were many people in the main office and they could have been blocking it but a quick rundown of the operations would have been nice. Regardless, I was filled in by the veteran shooters and had a good experience overall. I will be returning to The Bullet Hole. read more

I visited Bullet Hole Shooting Range on 06Jan18, and can honestly say that I've never been to a worst range in the country. When first checking in I was told that we were free to use any of the distances, to just bring in the tag we were initially issued and exchange it for a tag of whatever distance we would like. After we were asked to fill out a waiver, which is standard, but then told we were going to have to pay for their card which is a one time fee "so when we come back next time we don't have to fill out another waiver" and then told that the fee isn't optional. After shooting at the 100 yard range for about 30 minutes I decided to move to a shorter distance. Upon going in the shop, I was greeted in a very unfriendly way by an associate named Gerard, he asked "what do you need?" I told him that I would like to move to the 25 yard (this was my first time here so I didn't know that the 25 yard was a private bay) he said "you have to pay to use that one. You can use the 50 yard. The gun will fire that far" when I went back outside I had found I needed a tool to use on my AR-15 before starting to fire. I took it in the shop and asked to loan the tool real quick, after coming in contact with the same associate as before. I had asked him a question on whether to slide off the stock or to unscrew it, and seeming very annoyed with me he said "give it to me" and proceeded to do it himself, and very clearly in front of me snapping the buffer retention pin and spring internally. He quickly put it back together in hopes I wouldn't see it if I had to assume. Before leaving I had seen the employees there interact with other customers, and I couldn't believe that they treated them with the same hostility that had towards myself. Again seeing Gerard tell a customer he needed to lock his chamber open on his AR-15, and after the customer (who seemed new to rifles) was not sure how, Gerard had taken it from him in a very hostile manner. Very annoyed and horrified with the level of customer service I left, and called the range a few days after to file a complaint and hoping to be compensated for the damage they had done to my rifle. About 72 hours later I finally received a call from the owner who was very unprofessional stating that it didn't sound like her employees and she didn't believe me. Never again will I think about returning to this range. I would urge all military member to stray away as well, as those who have never served think that they have the right to trash talk myself, and my fellow service members. Give your business to a place with much nicer facilities and a staff that knows customer service. read more
