If you're shopping for a DVD player that will play VCDs, the shop has those, too. Their inventory spans new releases and classics from Hong Kong, as well as a few films from Taiwan, mainland China and even Korea. Many titles include Traditional Chinese and English subtitles, even for the TV series. There is no membership fee, though furnishing a credit card and picture ID is required to join. New releases cost $3 per night to rent with many titles available for $2 a night and some used titles available for purchase.

When I got there he asked if I had a few minutes to kind of hang out Which I did and he fixed it and had my wedding video out within a half-hour I was so freaking happy I would absolutely go here again and I will always recommend this place to anyone who needs video games or consoles. 5 stars isn't enough…read more This is my favorite record store in the country (sorry Banana's Warehouse in Clearwater - your variety just isn't there) The owners and staff are super friendly and encyclopedic with their knowledge- I just go here and grab anything that looks cool or I've never heard of, pop it on at the listening station (crucial) and always leave with things I've never heard but am now a better music fan having purchased This store has been responsible for so much musical growth for myself and has even translated into my own art. I owe these fine folks a lot, certainly more than my monetary contributions over the years could ever even come close to - this is a Portland institution and I hope it stays open forever. Also - if you're lame or listen to super popular newer bands/acts, there's throngs of other places in Portland that will gladly take your money and sell you what you're after. If this is the case and you accidentally step into Little Axe, things totally happen but maybe don't feel compelled to leave a nasty review because of this. They're doing what they do at an extremely high level, even if it doesn't appeal to your (potentially) limited tastes.

Luckily, Portland has a wonderful reading community that operates Rose City Reads. I actually found out about this location from a volunteer at the store in the Main library. Located in a strip mall, this location is out in the northeast, an area with few bookstores. Each time I've ventured in, there are plenty of other patrons roaming the stacks. And because this location is run by caring volunteers, it's always well organized with clearly labeled shelves. About half of the books are library discards, while the rest are community donations. And most everything is less than $5, so there are plenty of deals to be had.
