We had 3 hours to waste lol and this was perfect. Video games and family time with pizza just what the doctor ordered. Good pizza but prices are ridiculous! With a modest tip we just paid nearly $70 for a 19" garlic chicken pizza. The person who I spoke with to place the order over the phone neglected to give me the price so I didn't find out until delivery. That will be the last pizza I get from there. For the people of Juneau I think this establishment is just a place the state employees can find a easy lunch. I know we have all heard of a dive bar. Well... this isn't a bar but it's definitely the equivalent. When you first enter the room is dark and the smoke so thick you would think the place is on fire. The interior is extremely dated and the walls are so stained with grease the walls are brown but you can clearly see it at one point was white because you can see behind the items that hang on the wall. I thought I might give them a try a few times to see what the menu was like despite the risk from sanitary issues. I can say the food is overpriced and not even close to being fresh. I'm really getting tired of the horrendous customer service at Bullwinkles. It's absolutely unacceptable. Waiting almost two hours for a pizza to be delivered from the valley location, only to find out when you call back about it, that they never entered the order in the first place. And when you speak to the exact person that took your order, they "don't remember taking your order" even though you can quote the entire conversation back to them verbatim. Then they hang up on you when you ask to speak to a supervisor! THIS IS NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! The quality of pizza has degraded severely over the years. Us locals are doing are best to keep local businesses going by frequenting these establishments. But you can't afford to keep treating customers this way! The lettuce had slimy brown lettuce mixed in with the good salad mix, the canned peaches were fermented, the green peppers and red onions were minced beyond recognition. This time at least 3 of the games were on the fritz, and the soda machine was out of both of syrup. The only working pinball machine only lets you play one player games, the other one was in permanent tilt mode. For 9 sodas, 4 salad bars and a medium pepperoni, plus a medium Hawaiian were over $110 with a 15% tip. read more

I really don't care what others say about this place changing. They must all be on some crack. Growing up in Juneau this was a staple in my life.... had first dates here, friends meeting up here, family dinner here and many birthday parties here. The downtown location is ok too, especially for lunch with people that work in the SOB building. Fond memories of running from game to game using way too many quarters for entertainment. Of course the games are different but wow they have some good ones!! I'm a huge fan of their Garlic Chicken pizza which has amazing flavor and brings back many childhood memories! Their deluxe is kind of the all in one pizza and has both veggies and meat. Salad bar can be pricey, except at lunch, but it's not bad. Friends love the sandwiches but I can get a sandwich anywhere. The crust on these pizzas is outstanding and they actually cover the pizza with toppings. I've been here less than a week and already been twice. More to go because I didn't get the taco pizza yet. Sorry folks but to anyone that's lived in the lower 48 very few, if any, pizza places can slightly measure up! I love that they are still here and still very much awesome! Is it more expensive than Dominos or Pizza Hut? Uhhhh yeah but is it worth it? Really comparing it to these two is impossible! Went last night and can't wait to go back yet again. read more

The pizza and popcorn while hungover. My all time favorite pizza is a taco pizza. I've tried taco pizzas from all over the country and cannot find one that is anywhere near the one here. I flew into Juneau and checked into my hotel. I ordered before 8pm and at 9:30 I called them to ask about my order and they said they were closed. I told them I ordered food awhile ago and was passed over to another person. She said she called me on the hotel phone but she said I couldn't hear her. I asked what's going on and she said they couldn't deliver to me and refunded my card. She asked which hotel I was at and I told her it was the same one I told her when I placed the order. I also have her my cell phone number and address of the hotel when I initially called. I told her for future customers she needs to leave a voicemail on the person's cell phone and or leave a message at the front desk of the hotel. The grumpy guy who took our order really added to the ambiance, and he threw out our first pizza because the chefs didn't put enough love into it--so our second pizza was so piled high we couldn't see the crust! And it was fabulous!!! In addition to great pizza, the atmosphere is unbeatable: about 50 giant video games with flashing lights and bing bong bangs continuously...no mind expanding drugs necessary. I eat gluten free so I went to Bullwinkles to try their gluten free pizza. I have to say, at first I thought they had made a mistake because the dough tasted and resembled dough made out of wheat. So I was worried when I was eating It. A few hours later and I had no gluten allergy. So I have to say it was probably the best gluten free pizza I've ever had. Also nice to try a place that's been around for a while and seems to hold some nostalgia for those that grew up going there. money thing I would say though is that if they have the money, they could use it to remodel because the interior is getting a little old. Ridiculous I wanted to continue going to the place that I went to growing up but under new management isn't necessarily a good thing. I was very very disappointed in not only their lack of good customer service but quality as well. I placed an order that they goofed up on and the manager called me back and basically called me a liar and rather than offer to make it right he decided to continue arguing with me. The evening manager needs to work on his management skills, I have years of experience being a manager and that is not how you treat customers and I honestly wanted to continue going to the place I once loved but not if this is the way I will be treated. I grew up with Bullwinkle's pizza, and have to say that to this day, it's still my favorite. As a kid, I remember running around from game to game, feeding the machines quarters. Occasionally, I would return to our table to eat a few bites of pizza before darting off again. As I got older, I would frequent Bullwinkle's during my 30 minute lunch break, which of course would cut it close, but it was worth it. Years later, here I am, nearly 3000 miles away and wishing I had this little slice of Alaska. The pizza is a bit more spendy than Dominos or your average frozen pizza - but c'mon...you're comparing it to DOMINOS! *facepalm* So, if you're looking for "a good time in the 'ole town" or just looking for some good pizza in Juneau, give Bullwinkle's a try - especially if you have kids. read more

Don't bother with Dominos, if you're visiting briefly and have a hankering for pizza. Bullwinkles! They offer popcorn with every order of pizza, and there is also a decent offering of sub sandwiches. If you go to the place, and don't order delivery, there is a decent offering of video games upstairs. Unless you're at the Valley location, it's just one level floor and has the games all through out. It's really difficult to sit down and describe exactly what I like about Bullwinkles. It's not the atmosphere- loud and often full of screaming children and flashing arcade games. The pizza is good, but you have to eat it right away- I would never take this out or have it delivered, it starts to get gnarly really fast which probably doesn't speak well of its nutritional value but we are talking about pizza here, people. I guess the thing about Bullwinkles is either you get it, or you don't. Some people hate it, some people love it, I happen to love it but I almost think that, like Pelmeni's, it's an acquired Juneauite taste. It's worth a try, especially if you have kids- they love the free popcorn and arcade games. This one (in the Mendenhall mall) is imho better than the downtown one, it's a bit cleaner. read more
