First visit to Bully's was back in July 2015...a crazy road, ate delicious burgers in the drizzle with a gazillion dollar view. Zach was so welcoming. A memorable highlight! We talked about this fondly for over a decade, that the next visit was on 8/30/25 with The Bro accompanying me and The Homie from Kihei to Upcountry and Kula. This time the road was paved! A drive upcountry is worth while for these burgers. I kept it simple with an order of the Original Bully. The hamburger was nicely seasoned. Grilled on an open fire, and cooked to perfection. I dressed the burger with lettuce, tomato, and grilled onions. Standard burger buns soaked up the flavor and kept the sandwich intact. The rest of the family took advantage of the popular Zach's famous grilled cheese burger plus bacon, Teriyaki burger n swiss with pineapple slices and added bacon, mushroom n swiss and again bacon. This is one of the most interesting burgers you ever eat. When they say farm to table; it truly is a farm to table. They grow cattle's literally for just making these burgers. The owner is so confident in the burger quality and taste that they'll almost get offended if you ask for condiments. The burger texture is super soft and tender yet, firm as you chew. The taste really is different and it's delicious; I can see why you don't put condiments on. It is on the far south side of the island so it is a travel destination; I think it's worth if you're on Maui. If you're taking road to Hana; it is either on the way or coming back from it. The seating is plenty; it has a wonderful view of the mountainside. There are wondering cats (for those who are allergic) so just an FYI. I'm so glad we journeyed out to Bully's. The only meat I eat these days is from local, grass raised critters, and I did not expect to find a farm to (picnic) table spot here. Original post: Drove all the way out there to try this "best burger in Maui". The view was spectacular. I ordered the black & blue burger. It was so over cooked that it was a hunk of dried out meat. It came on a nondescript bun with no noticeable blue cheese and two tiny pieces of flavorless bacon. For $18. We ate some of it because by the we got there we were starving. Oh, for the $18, it came with store bought potato chips. Fries were not an option. The ambiance: if you like sitting at dirty picnic tables with insects crawling all over, this is for you. Bully's Burgers offers delicious homegrown burgers right off on the road to Hana and is a great stop as you are going home on the back way to your hotel in Lahaina. It's s a burger stand right off triple L Ranch. I ordered the original bully and they offer plenty of toppings to put on your burger. You also get a side of chips with your burger. They only have outside seating but the view is beautiful as you will be eating with an ocean view. It can get a little windy and the day I went the winds gusts were intense and opted to sit inside the rental car. I highly recommend this stop as there aren't very many places to eat on the road to Hana. read more

I am writing this review at the airport leaving Maui . This is the place to come and relax and enjoy a good meal with an amazing view ! First off, the drive here is just so freaking incredible! So much better than Hana bc it's paved, spacious, and quiet !!! Make bully's your new "Hana". Ok now the food- the burger is lean and really healthy tasting- it's not greasy and it doesn't leave you feeling heavy. I like how they grilled the meat fresh! And so it has a nice smoky flavor and the meat isn't packed too tightly which I like. I am not a burger person and don't really go for burger usually but I would come back for this one. Maybe it's the view that's making me nolstagic and high - but I really enjoyed my time here. There was no one there when we were there at 12 pm making it feel like it's a private dining made just for us. I judge a place by the veggies they use in a burger - and this place serves up fresh veggies! In fact, that's the first thing I exclaimed when I bit into my burger! The lettuce (butter lettuce?) was crunchy and looks like it was just picked and the tomato was sweet and ripe and a little warmed up on the grill adding an extra sweetness to the burger! My goodness the veggies are awesome!! Come here away from the crowd and the hectic tourist area and get some REAL Hawaiian hospitality and amazing time with fresh food here! There is a bee / coffee stand before this you can go after to get some coffee and contemplate how you should come back. FOOD: Spicy Bomb this was my favorite. Their patty was well season and super moist. Their combination of jalapeño, pepper jack,and spicy chipotle sauce didn't over power the flavor of the patty at all . Just an amazing burger all around, and that home made pickled chayote was the bomb. Hawaiian Burger: This was excellent as well. If you don't like grilled onions you can ask for pineapple instead. Such a great experience! Decided to check them out while we were in up country and are definitely glad we did. Didn't know what to expect when we drove up to the stand on the side of the road and we're happily pleased with the burgers. I had the Swiss mushroom burger which was a bit of perfection and my traveling partner had the regular hamburger and was equally impressed. The beef was cooked perfectly on an outdoor grill, very juicy and perfect texture. We sat at the picnic tables outside the stand and enjoyed the view from the side of the hill. A beautiful view after a bit of a drive to this well loved burger food truck. We went on Saturday afternoon (yesterday) and there was were a few people already there. The menu is brief but checked all the boxes of what I was looking for: a delicious burger made with top ingredients. My husband wished fries or some equivalent was an option. I ordered the Bully burger bowl & he went for the Black & Bleu burger, both came with their own special chips. Our food was brought to us after ~25 minutes. My bowl -- hamburger patty on an impressive amount of lettuce, and was accompanied by grilled onions & mushrooms, a few pieces of chopped tomatoes, a bit of avocado and a miniature pickle (with a handful of chips, a packet of hunts ketchup, mustard & mayo on the side). The veggies were fresh and tasty. The burger was sorrowfully so overcooked that my little plastic knife almost broke trying to cut it. The flavor was just okay but juicy tenderness was nonexistent, which made me very sad. Hubby's black& bleu burger was cooked so far beyond what it should have been to make it delicious -- and acceptable. It was far from the best he's ever tasted. The special chips? bbq chips out of a cheap chip bag. Terrible!! I ate some because I was hungry. They were awful and in no way homemade. Sorry to say neither of us actually enjoyed our meals. Quite the opposite. So If you live on Maui and you believe this to be the best burger you've ever had, go for it. Plus, locals get a discount on their bill so there's that. But if you're visiting and have a hankering for a juicy tasty quality burger, this is most definitely not it. Sadly I do not recommend wasting precious time, money and effort. read more

My wife and I had a burger after our private horseback riding tour at Triple L Ranch. This was easily one of the best burgers we've ever had. We recently did the R2H and we made a plan to stop at Bully's to show our out-of-town friends some really ono Maui grub. It had been awhile since we had mopped up a Bully's Burger. We were so sad to learn that they were temporarily shut down... BOO. We talked with the owner and basically begged her to make us a burger but she said she couldn't. I realized I had never reviewed this place from my first visit so... Awhile back we came with some different out-of-town friends and decided we had to stop... the smell of burgers was lingering in the air and the sun was slowly dropping behind the island of Kahao'olawe. It was like the perfect place to pull over and eat. We all ordered burgers (I had the BBQ bully burger) and we ate every single last bite. ONO. Everyone talked about how juicy the beef was. We sat outside watching the sun set, surrounded by nature and fresh air... it was awesome. I truly hope they can get up and running soon.
