This was literally the best burger I have ever eaten. I ate the whole thing and it was perfect from first bite to last. I love a burger but often struggle to finish them. There's usually a bit of crust left at the end--not so once I got the Makawao Muchroom Onion & Bacon Swiss Burger in front of me. I ate *the*entire*confection*. OMG.. Maui Burgers makes the best Grilled Mahi Mahi (Fish) Sandwich. I've never made it past the Grilled Mahi Fish Sandwich to try anything else! LOL.. It's that much my favorite sandwich on the perfectly toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, sans onion, and the perfect mango lime crema sauce. Whatever you order, you have to get a large order of Crispy Sidewinder Fries with their house-made smoky dipping sauce. They are crunchy on the outside and pillowy, squishy, potatoey soft inside. Perfectly seasoned and the perfect accompaniment to our delectable Fish Sandwiches. Their ingredients, sauces, and cook make this place great. Service is always friendly and efficient. Because the Burgers are cooked to order, they are worth the wait OR you can place your order online (I just have to remember to scroll past lettuce wrap to select a bun!) Ambiance is takeout. This was my first meal in Hawaii and it set the bar high. I ordered one of the stuffed burgers. The quality of the meat was top notch, honestly some of the best beef I've had. On top of that, the patty was huge. Those two things, combined with all the other ingredients made it so I wouldn't blink paying nearly $20 for this burger on the main land. Maui burgers is located in a strip mall of stores. We look up the reviews and they said it was really fantastic. Five stars. So we decided to try it, and it said Wagyu beef. I ordered the bacon lover burger with pineapple added. The fries are not your typical fries. They are thick and curly. And very crispy which they were very tasty. They don't have a soda fountain everything is by the can. A burger, fries and a water cost $30. He advertised a combo special but said he didn't have one, when it was clearly advertised on his menu board, which is digital. Not sure what's up with that especially if it's advertised. They didn't put ketchup, Mayo, & mustard on the burgers as requested, and at least half of our onion rings were burned with at least three being totally inedible. $16.96 for a crappy, overcooked, dry patty burger- the mushroom burger. The meat patty looked and tasted like it was previously frozen from Cisco. Was told they'd do it "medium" but it definitely came out well done. Requested mayo on the side, was confirmed at ordering, but after a long wait the burger came out with mayo all over the burger. $17 for the burger only, doesn't come with fries. The bacon was done well, and would've been better without mayo slathered all over it. The man taking my order was super nice. The place has no hot sauce. This is the thing about so many places on Maui-- prices are really high for such a low-quality product. They'll say I'm just being a pretentious mainlander. Well this is a competitive, capitalist country and the weak don't survive. This place would normally die if mediocrity/below par weren't the norm as it is for so much of the F&B scene on Maui. I saw photos of the food and saw some possibilities for a good burger, fish NOT beef this time. I was pleasantly surprised! The cook/server/ cashier for this one man op was friendly. No place to sit inside but found a shady table outside. He even brought my burger out to me! The piece of mahimahi stuck out about 1/2 inch on either side of the bun. I think the sauce had Dill, garlic and a couple of other seasonings. All I know is, it was cooked to perfection, was moist and It was onolicious! We went to the Kihei location in a handy little shopping area with outdoor seating. We were greeted by a friendly cashier who was helpful in answering questions about the menu and giving some recommendations. We ordered the hurricane burgers, the stuffed hurricane burger, and the hurricane fries. They all had a fresh lettuce, onion, tomato, jalapeños but also sriracha Mayo and furikake. The stuffed burger had avocados and Swiss and the regular had cheddar. The fries had the delicious sriracha Mayo and firikake and were more like potato wedges - which no complaints because they were crispy yet moist inside. Also ordered the garlic and onion fries but they must have forgotten the garlicky butter sauce for it because it just tasted like fries with literal onion and garlic thrown on top. I couldn't even get pictures of the stuffed burger because it was eaten so quickly. The burgers were juicy and delicious as were the hurricane fries. My first encounter was okay. They took a long time to get my burger to me and when they did, it was missing the cheese I paid for. So, they re-took my burger, slapped it back on the grill and put cheese on to melt it...of course, this over cooks the burger. I also do not appreciate their use of the gay flag in their restaurant. Granted, they have every right to set up flags to whatever group they want, but just know in so doing, you eliminate customers in the process. Be all inclusive...absolutely, but don't putting the gay flag will turn customers away, just as much as putting a Christian flag, Muslim flag, Jewish flag will turn customers away.
