Welcome to my experience with Sol Brothers BBQ food truck. My brothers and I found ourselves hungry and indecisive at the Maui Food Truck of Kihei . There were so many food trucks it was hard to decide. We walked in circles for what seemed like hours. Then we noticed a man, unbothered by BBQ sauce smeared all over his cheeks and upper lip, walking confidently to Sol Brothers Southern BBQ food truck. The next thing he said changed our lives forever. He told the man inside the window "this is quite possibly best BBQ I've ever had. And easily the best ribs and brisket I've ever had. And I'm a bodybuilder, so I would know". Sometimes the universe buries strange jewels deep within us all, and then stands back to see if we can find them. Thank you bodybuilder man for guiding me with your light when I was at my lowest and needing inspiration. anyways ... The food was as advertised. It was truly delicious. We ordered the baby back ribs sandwich, the jerk chicken sandwich, a plate of ribs, and a side of Mac n cheese. I would have to agree it was some of the best BBQ I've ever had. The ribs were fall off the bone The jerk chicken had a delayed kick of spice with excellent flavor. The Mac n cheese... Yup! Delicious! And best for all, the people working the truck are great people. We loved chopping it up with them while we waited for our food 100/10 food and experience! If you want BBQ this should be your go too! The owners start smoking/cooking the meet at 4 in the morning, and the results are incredible. The brisket is mouthwatering, perfectly tender and full of flavor! Their ribs fall off the bone and are finger licking good. The Jerked Chicken is moist and has an awesome kick to it; I'm sweating just thinking about it. As for the sides, you gotta go for the steamed cabbage, it's positively dripping with umami! It's always my go to side when I order. The fried rice is also great when it's available (sells out fast). I was at the Maui Food Trucks of Kihei lot and although we had already ordered dinner, we couldn't pass up the chance to try a new food truck. There's a number of other trucks on the lot, but the smell of smoked meats made it impossible not to stop at Sol Brothers BBQ. Their menu covers all the bases--slow-smoked brisket, pulled pork, jerk chicken, hearty sandwiches, and classic Southern sides. We ordered the brisket plate, and it was seriously loaded. The brisket came sliced thick with just the right amount of smoky bark and was tender enough to pull apart with a fork. Flavor-wise, it was rich and deeply smoky without being overpowering. On the side, the mac n' cheese was creamy and indulgent with that homestyle comfort food feel, while the BBQ beans were bold, slightly spicy, and had just the right touch of sweetness. Portion sizes were generous too--we could have easily shared and still left full. What makes Sol Brothers extra special is that it's a family-owned truck bringing a taste of Alabama BBQ all the way to Maui. The family's warmth shows through not only in the food, but in the service too. It's Southern hospitality with island vibes, and was a great spot to grab a bite. I'm not use to food trucks serving such amazing food and was pleasantly surprised. We split the ribs, rice, salad and a small mac-n- cheese for dinner. The rib sauce had a nice balance of both smoky and sweet which balanced nicely with the salad dressing. The ribs were very tender and fell off the bone. The mac-n-cheese was very creamy and had a little hint of spice to it. We indulged in ribs at the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook- Off in Northern Nevada and this place could easily be a perfect contender. Leave no stone unturned--this BBQ spot is the real deal. The southern BBQ flavors were incredible, and my lunch hit every note. The brisket tasted like true Texas cooking but better--super tender, beautifully marbled, and not a dry bite in sight. Flavor packed from beginning to end. Pulled pork smoky and tender. Mac n cheese rich n creamy. Baked beans with ground meat I could eat literally every single day and be content. Ribs don't even need bbq sauce but sauce is addictive. Brisket has such a lovely char and smoke flavor. Little thicker than I prefer but still worth the chew. We found that aroma coming from Sol Brothers Southern BBQ truck. They were located at a food truck park with a couple of other food trucks. However, the aroma lured us to try this truck and we were happy we did. We ordered a BBQ Chicken Plate, a BBQ Chicken Sandwich, a BBQ Rib Sandwich and a BBQ Rib Plate. The food tasted as good as it smelled. It was also a nice change of pace from what we were enjoying on our trip. Both the BBQ Chicken and BBQ Ribs were really good and flavorful. Another food truck park! I only tried one item at Sol Brothers Southern BBQ. So I can't accurately judge them on the overall food, however the brisket sandwich I ordered was good. I've had way too many really amazing briskets from Austin, Charlotte, Nashville, that makes it hard to judge this brisket sandwich. If you're judging it against general bbq anywhere, I'd say it's pretty good, but it's a small portion with no sides. There are so many food truck parks in Maui and so many food options to try, I'd say if you are in the mood for bbq, check them out. It's pretty good, but it's not Texas or southern bbq. read more

Ate here twice during a recent visit to Maui! Highly recommend! I had the jerk chicken bowl! The first time it was everything I was craving and more! The chicken (we will call it a jerk bbq) was tender and delicious, over some creamy mac and cheese and some of the best baked beans I have ever had! The second time I was served by a different person other than the couple that said they own the food truck; this time it was an older woman, and I ordered the same thing. But to my surprise when I got home, there was no mac and cheese, instead it was chicken with rice and some baked beans! Hadn't had ribs for a long time, so I went to the Kihei Station food truck park and walked up to Sol Brothers Southern Style BBQ. It didn't start well. There was one guy in the trailer and he was on the phone. Obviously, he was not pleased. I waited longer than I should have. The guy went out the back door, to continue his discussion. Maybe he thought I was listening in (I wasn't). It might have been a hint to leave, but I didn't. He finally returned and took my order. I ordered the Smoked Baby Back Ribs. It comes with a Kula Green Salad and two scoops of rice. The menu also said I could add any side for $2.49. So, I asked for the small mac-n-cheese. He rang it up and the total was $27.60. When I told him that it seemed kinda high, he pointed down to the sign that states that "AS OF TODAY 4/7/2022 THERE WILL BE A 15% INCREASE TO ALL ITEMS ON THE MENU DUE TO SUPPLY AND FOOD COST INCREASE." Yeah, I saw the sign. It was right in front of me the whole time I was waiting. Still, with the increase, I figured it should be in the $22 to $23 range. I didn't feel like arguing, so I handed over my credit card. When it came time to sign, I added a tip, too. I looked at the receipt and it had a price $5.98 for the small mac-n-cheese that should have been $2.49 (plus 15%). But this was more than double. Well, I was told that that's where I screwed up. I should have ordered the mac-n-cheese as an add-on. I ordered a small serving. I should have known that if I include any side, it would be a serving that is smaller than a small helping. I let it slide. My order was up in a few minutes and he handed me my containers along with a fork, rolled up in a napkin that had smudges of BBQ sauce. I guess we both could have used a wet nap or two. Fortunately, I was taking my food home, so I wouldn't have to share a napkin. Another prominent sign on the trailer said UPON REQUEST ONLY and showed drawings of implements and packets of soy sauce. Two scoops of rice would benefit from some flavor, so I said I would like some soy sauce. I didn't request more than the sign said I needed to request, but he had to look at me and process it. He then gave me a little cup and said "you're welcome". I took my meal home. The salad was alright (just greens) with dressing on the side. The mac-n-cheese was really good and cheesy. The 5 ribs were tasty and the sauce was good but the meat was dry. I did feel compelled to check their math of the 15% price increase. Both the ribs and the small mac-n-cheese actually had 20% increases over the menu prices. I can't recommend Sol Brothers Southern BBQ. read more
