Had a terrible experience at Bump this morning. Waited in line for about 15-20 minutes, finally placed my order for coffee and veggie empanadas. Ordered two, saw them directly in front of me. The dude even asked me if I wanted hot sauce. I paid. He didn't give me the food right away, which they normally do when I'm waiting for my coffee. Waited 10 more minutes for coffee while others placed their orders after me. Numbers 94, 95 were called. I'm 93. I go up to check, and the guy making my coffee said "No more goat cheese and mushroom." SO RUDE. He and the cashier just said "sorry bout that." I placed my orders first and you ran out of my order because you gave it to the people after me and I'm just supposed to be okay with that after waiting in line forever? They gave me a refund, but seriously pay attention, especially when you know your food supply doesn't last long. Super turned off and since this hasn't been the only unpleasant occurrence - I won't be back. Overpriced "empanadas" and coffee, coupled with rude service - NO THANKS. read more

Good local coffee grab and go spot. Found across from Elijo State Beach. Offering empanadas, coffee hot or cold brew (just coffee no fancy drinks lol) and fresh squeezed orange juice. Quaint and simple coffee shop with surfer vibes. Ordered two coffees, one with CBD and oatmilk and one with just oatmilk. Good well roasted coffee. Nothing particularly great or unusual, but as a typical black coffee drinker, I enjoyed it. Fresh squeezed OJ was good. For $20 two small coffees and a small fresh squeezed juice was a bit much, but given the great location I am okay with that. Empanadas looked yummy and would try next time. read more

The coffee was good but the "Rollies" are very small and still cold inside for $4.50. For a large pour over and one rollie was $10. They workers seemed friendly but wouldn't go back. read more

Boo. Ok empanada but too expensive for the size and few ingredients. And the pour over decaf coffee I got was about as lousy a coffee as I've ever had. Unsure how this place got so many positive reviews. I threw out my coffee and ate the empanada grumpily. read more

I was excited to check this place out and I really wanted to like it. Although the service was good, I was disappointed by the empanadas (now "rollies"). Best coffee, and best service. I started coming here when I moved to Cardiff in the summer of 2020, and have pretty much gone everyday since. Aside of them serving bomb pour overs and empanadas, the staff is very friendly, always welcoming me by name and remembering my order! Going to Bump Coffee in the mornings has genuinely become a highlight in my day, especially since being forced to work from home due to coronavirus. I love to grab a cup and go for a little walk on the Cardiff trail for a mid morning break. It's definitely a local favorite. **My go to order is a pour over with coconut milk. Its bold in flavor but the coconut milk adds a bit of sweetness and creaminess to the coffee. Highly recommend! read more

I moved to North County over 18 months and was looking for a local coffee to support in a Costal town, as I am drawn to the ocean/beach as a Cancer. This place did not disappoint- it actually wow'd me! I have a monthly subscription and try to visit weekly, pending work and kids. The Owners are super friendly, kind and engaging. Hubby and I checked this place out this morning. They're well known for their empanadas and coffee drinks. Hubby ordered the bacon and egg one and I had the ham and cheese. My favorite Cardiff coffee shop! I usually go for the mojito coffee but they've limited their menu during quarantine so I'm onto the iced coffee - it really wakes me up and tastes so good! Also highly recommend the empanadas! I've tried most of them and they are all delicious but the ham and cheese, breakfast, and sweet corn are my personal favorites. Don't forget to request some salsa to go along with it! read more

Love my pour overs! Today I was in Cardiff, and I've been meaning to check out the spot off at San Elijo and Aberdeen. The sign is a painted logo is of a coffee cup with horizontal white stripes. They're in the nestled in the same shopping center with VG's and The Cardiff Office. Right now they're doing their soft opening. Ryan and Trevor are 2 cool dudes! They are super friendly and The coffee shop is a small but quaint spot. Walk on up to the counter and order a cup of joe that is poured over. Desire some half n' half or sugar? The barista will shake it up to mix it perfectly and then pour it into a "Bump" cup. They also have cold brew and kombucha in tap, fresh squeezed Temecula oranges, tea, and empanadas to much on. The doughnuts (VG Bakery) brings all the people to the yard and this coffee makes standing in line enjoyable! My neighbors and friends rave about Bump and I tried for the first time today...they were so right! Everyone is so friendly and their coffee is legit! Nothing fancy, just freshly ground coffee with some heavy cream, brewed to order...just delightful coffee made with care. I'll definitely be coming back for its coffee and walk away from the doughnuts. Or at least I'll try really hard. read more

Parking is really easy. The location is great because it's close to the beach so you can go for a walk once you grab your coffee. I've been here two times in one week. Both times, I got the CBDream. I gave this place 4 stars only because it wasn't very consistent. The first time I went, I thought the coffee was watered down- nothing really special. Also, just note that you should ask for your coffee sweet if you want them to add sugar or else they will give it to you as it states on the menu. The guy making my coffee was so gracious when I asked to add sugar after I had ordered and made the necessary adjustments. I also got the bacon and egg empanada, which was good. I figured I wouldn't come back for coffee, but maybe an empanada. A friend had suggested to meet up at bump a couple days later to go for a walk in the morning. I agreed to give it another shot and got another CBDream and a Serrano chile empanada. This time, the coffee was a lot more flavorful and the empanada was even better than the bacon and egg! The serving size is actually pretty big for the coffee, so be aware! Customer service was great both times and the location is a huge plus. I would most likely come back again to grab coffees prior to my morning walks. read more

A very modern and minimalist coffee shop in this retro looking strip mall. Very sleek signage just a contemporary looking cup, no name. I actually didn't know the name until I came across the signage for the plaza. Reviewing this for their kombucha on tap because it's so good! I got their mango guava kombucha ($5) and savored every last drop of it. They use PAPER STRAWS here. Always a plus. They were also selling empanadas but I didn't get a chance to try those, maybe next time. read more

Empanadas were really good. I thought they would be a little bit bigger but the flavor of their empanadas makes it worth it. I got a cold brew with oat milk. I wished they had syrups or lattes - i guess it's just cold brew & pour overs. My cold brew with oat-milk was fine on its own. The coffee is alright but the empanadas are amazing! read more

NO MASKS! I was about to place an order today when I noticed the owner Trevor working the cash registry wasn't wearing a mask. I politely said "not sure if you noticed you're not wearing a mask" hoping he forgot. He answered that he knew he wasn't wearing a mask, that he had Already had Covid and that he didn't believe masks mattered. Bump coffee is a simple & delicious coffee shop in Cardiff. They offer a very basic menu, and do it right. From cold brew coffee to pour over drips, you'll be happy to start your day with them! You can add CBD oil too. They have a decent list of teas and also fresh juices. They also have fantastic empanadas, which vary daily but often include a bacon or sausage option, mushroom and goat cheese, and a sweet corn and basil. I normally go for a meat option but tried the sweet corn basil today and was really happy! There's no formal inside area to sit, but plenty of outdoor seating. Lots of dogs to pat too! The hours are a little funky, I'm fairly certain due to when they feel like closing to go surfing but that's just a theory! Def stop in soon! read more

These guys are awesome and make some pretty fine pour overs as well. But really, the guys who own and run this coffee and tea establishment are down to earth friendly and enthusiastic about what they offer. I familiarized myself with the Bump Coffee at the Little Italy Mercado that runs on Saturdays. It was a post rainy even so the morning was chilly hence the reason why I went for a pour over hot coffee with a touch of cream for $3. The 100% organic coffee was delicious and most importantly smooth and rich in flavor. Well done and great choice of coffee beans from all the way from Rwanda. They also offer a cold brew, their famous iced coffee mojito, hot cocoa, and teas. If you have the munchies, they offer baked goods from Prager Brothers. If you like coffee, BUMP is the best coffee in the area. Is the menu basic? Yep. And... For people that don't want a bunch of fake sugary flavoring added to their coffee that's a good thing. There are a few other things there that they handpick for their customers like juice and empanadas and it's all high quality good stuff. Finally, they run the business the way they want to... because... it's their business. I appreciate that about this small business. TLDR: If you like *coffee*, this is your spot. read more

Pre-COVID I would have been able to share someone's rice and beans, but could not do it and so I was left with no lunch. Only positive is that ppl seemed to like the pork BBQ empanadas.

From the moment I walked in, the place had such an authentic, family-run feel -- you can just tell when food is made with care. She asked if I wanted hot sauce, and I told her I love hot sauce. She handed me both a salsa verde and a salsa rojo, and man... after the very first bite (I started with the chicken), I completely lost my mind. I added the sauces and went to town. Before I knew it, I had eaten all six empanadas. I am ridiculously full right now, but they were so good I honestly couldn't stop myself. If I had ordered a dozen, I would've eaten a dozen. I've tried it a few times and that seems to be their consistent style. We get cravings for this place and like that we're mainly serviced by the nice owners of this restaurant.
