The owner was lovely too, nice energy and enthusiasm for her story. They were pouring 3 wines, all were very good, balanced and at an excellent price point. The Pinot was our favorite. We have been here 3-4 times now. Made an appointment to come in today, not realizing they are closed on Monday's, but we called to make an appointment. They gladly scheduled the appointment and made no mention that they were not open Mondays. We came in and realized they came in for us. I mean come on, talk about guest experience. This place is a gem. The owner, who was pouring our wine, is awesome. The wines are really great. They own 2 acres in Sonoma and have a few wines made with these grapes, and some others with sourced grapes. They are organically grown and are fantastic. We are pretty seasoned wine enthusiasts and love when we get to talk about how each winemaker makes their wine stand out. We spent 4 days in Sonoma and this was one of my favorite tastings. We were they only ones in the place and felt like it was a private tasting. Geordie owns the place with his wife and it's honestly one of the relaxing and welcoming cellars in Sonoma. They have local artists featured every month and I'm surprised not more wine cellars don't do this. Art and wine just seem to blend perfectly together. When my boyfriend and I visited Bump, we just happened to stumble upon it based on where we parked. Geordie was the only person in there and gave us nothing less than a 5-star attentiveness, he explained his lifestory and was just a real and humble guy. A family man who works hard to provide for his family with his passion. Their selection is limited but they are a pretty new company so they're still expanding and experimenting on their wines. Their wines are decent, but have the potential and attitude to be great over time. Definitely coming back when I'm in the area to see what art and wine they have featured next. read more

Bump is a cute, well decorated and artistic wine tasting lounge in downtown Sonoma. Geordie, the gentleman who poured our tasting was unfailingly gracious and generously shared his passion for local wine and local art. His wine pours were generous as well, which he "warned" us about up front. Despite its subject matter (wine and art), Bump and Geordie are unpretentious and very welcoming. For example, Georgie offered us a (gratis) plate of bread and cheese from an art party they had hosted the evening before, to go along with our tasting. From the deep, cushy couches to the ambient electronica music playing in the background, Bump is a perfect place to relax with friends and drink some wonderful wine. Geordie explained where the grapes for each of the wines were grown (all local Sonoma farmers), as well as how and why the winemaker selected the particular grapes that went into each wine. Each of the wines we tasted was very well crafted, and we enjoyed everything we tasted. We ended up with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, which has a refreshing, bright character and crisp green apple and honey notes. From the excellent service, to the delightful wine and relaxing atmosphere, we highly recommend visiting Bump if you're in downtown Sonoma; you will not be disappointed! read more

I loved the openness of the building and the different textures of the wall; it really helped to celebrate the artwork being depicted! It's a building that feels both lived in and fresh simultaneously. Everything from the long, split-wood dining table framed by 2 different sets of chairs to the lighting above feels warm and inviting. My boyfriend & I stopped at Bump for our first stop on a romantic wine weekend-- and we were blown away. First of all, the proprietor was so welcoming & knowledgable. He clearly understands how to run a business. His wine was wonderful-- probably the best we had that weekend. Stopped by here two months ago simply because the name was catchy and I wanted to see what it was all about. We walked in to find a nice living room type set up with great artwork for sale if wanted and a variety of good wines with generous pours. The owner was there and very friendly as well as a gentleman who had just started and sat and talked with us. I would definitely recommend coming here. read more

For starters -- I don't drink. I came across this winery shortly after their opening, drawn in by the art show. Since then I've seen every art show (it changes monthly), I've bought a couple of pieces, and I've gotten to know Geordie and Mieko. They are such fine, friendly, warm people. I buy Bump wines for friends who do drink. They say the wines are very good indeed. In particular, the cab/zin blend is a hit. The tasting room is cozy with couches, chairs, and coffee tables. Good wine, good atmosphere, good art, great people. What more could you ask? read more

After a vino-filled couple of days in Napa, we took the long way back to the airport, stopping in Sonoma and Santa Rosa before heading back to SJC. I was hesitant to take time away from our next stop (the Russian River Brewery--finally some beer on the trip!) but my mother-in-law wanted one last tasting, this time in Sonoma. And you do what your mother-in-law says. So we pulled into downtown Sonoma, and I was frantically looking for a tasting room, stat. I didn't even have time to check Yelp (because I was driving -- don't Yelp and drive!) but we parked and, by chance, walked into the Bump tasting room. What luck! Mieko, the owner, met us and described their wines and process--she and her husband buy grapes from friends and other producers and rent space in a warehouse to complete their small-batch runs. The tastings were amazing (and she could pour glasses). The Chardonnay was not overly buttery or oaked (they age in neutral barrels) and had a delightful rich yet refreshing characteristic. The zin was delicious, as well. Well balanced and not over the top. They have a small distribution, which includes my home state of Utah, so we'll be buying locally! An extra special plus is how affordable the wines are. 4+year aged reds still under $30 a bottle! Mieko was also willing to talk about her beautifully designed tasting room. From the exposed lathe on the wall to the recycled wood bar to the giant paper lantern to the couch with a fabric that anything could be wiped off of, she answered all my mother-in-law's questions. (Are you sensing a theme here?) It's a gorgeous place run by excellent people. So take a "Bump" off the beaten track, and stop by their tasting room! read more

This past weekend, my boyfriend and I decided we were going to check out all that Sonoma had to offer. It was his birthday weekend so we were on the hunt for good food and good wine. We tried a few different tasting rooms and found ourselves at Bump. It was near closing time but Mieko graciously invited us in. She was very accomodating and kind. What an experience! I took a friend from out of town, and they treated us like GOLD. They sat us on the couch, gave us generous pours and chatted with us. We stayed at a b & b just outside of the square and visited 4 tasting rooms around the square and 2 vineyards while in Sonoma. We followed Yelpers advice concerning which places to go (apart from a vineyard some locals told us about). Bump was our favorite from around the square with wine at about 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of the vineyard we enjoyed. The Bump owners are incredibly sweet and fun to chat with during the tasting as well. We left with several bottles that have been praised by all who tried it. If you only have time for 1 or 2 spots around the square, this place should be top of the list. read more
