    Boosted Bumper Fries

Saw the cool Star Trek font lettering and had to stop in. I was greeted when I walked in. They have an ordering kiosk but the guy behind the counter said he would take my order. I told him, I'm cool with ordering from the kiosk. I ordered a Bumper dog, Bumper burger and the Boosted Bumper Fries that has their fresh cut fries, Bumper sauce, cheese sauce, caramelized onion and diced jalapeño. I received my food and everything came in their branded boxes. They have the most comfy chairs. I started with the Bumper Burger which is a thin smash patty that came with Bumper Sauce (it reminds me of Big Mac sauce), lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. It was the on a soft bun. All the flavors were okay, kind of on the small side. The Bumper Dog was a Chicago style hot dog. All the toppings were on the bottom with a split grilled dog. I ended up flipping the pickle on dog to eat it. To me the split dog was kind of lost. The Boosted Bumper Fries were a big hit. They made sure that you got all off the topping until you got to the bottom of the box. I found myself shoveling them in my mouth. It's messy and definitely a 20 napkin meal. Also they have the coolest bathroom.

A new place we want to try. The place is nice and clean. The person who took our order is pleasant. We were not that hungry so we ordered the $5 burger and fries. The burger taste really good and what makes it good too is the bread. So soft. I can say that it's a very good quality burger. The fries are well seasoned. We would go back for more soon.

Just expect good food, fast. Their menu is simple: burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, fries, pop, and milkshakes. The burgers come in either a single, double, or triple stack, with cheese. I got the cheeseburger and hubby got the two on two (double stack) and we were satisfied with the burgers. It was simple, juicy, grilled and good. The whole family loved the fries. Service was pretty fast, we got ours in less than 10 minutes. Dining tables are available inside to eat, and also a few tables outside in the parking lot if you prefer the outdoors. If you are familiar with the movie The Sandlot, they have their pictures all over the walls. Not sure if they are directly affiliated with the movie, but it definitely brings back that nostalgia. Overall, great burger joint and I would come back again!

I was not in the mood for a veggie burger so I got a cheese bun, which is essentially a cheese sandwich but I added all the veggies and condiments that come with the burger. Threw in a side order of fries as well. After placing the order, we waited for the buzzer to go off. The cheese bun was big Ava surprisingly filling. It tasted a little like a burger that has meat in it. It was satisfying along depth my golden fries. As we dined, we noticed the roof was open and found out it is retractable which is so nice. We never noticed in the past as we come here in the winter or they didn't open it. It gave some natural lighting. I enjoyed that. Small Cheval is great, fries are the best. The workers are nice and it's a nice place to take visitors of dropping off or picking up from the airport. We will be back for sure.

For those who don't know, Small Cheval is the fast casual version of Au Cheval which I've had the opportunity to try in NYC. There's plenty of locations throughout Chicago so definitely make it a stop when you're in town. Now is it as good as Au Cheval? Definitely not but at one-third of the price point, it's hard to complain. The beef patties are well-seasoned with crispy edges and just the right amount of fattiness. My main complaint is that there wasn't nearly enough dijonnaise sauce or pickles, making this pretty dry. The bun was nicely buttered and toasted but almost took away from the contents inside the burger. The Famous Fried Chicken Tenders were also a good try. I could tell the chicken was clean & high quality but there was some flavor I couldn't quite place which made it a bit off-putting; thankfully it wasn't super noticeable especially with the sauces. The Golden Fries were delicious and paired well with the burger & tenders! Even the Cookies & Cream Milkshake was solid! Classic milkshake with a good balance of creaminess, sweetness, and texture from the cookie bits. The interior was also bright, spacious, and comfortable! All in all, really solid try!

In the meantime, I ordered a Hot Chick (medium heat), with a side of fries, some extra pickles, and the garlic sauce to make my Slavic heart happy. The food came out fresh from the bubbling oil, it could be handled without burns, but clearly spent no time under a lamp. Both the chicken and the fries were fried to a delectable crunch. No twice-fried-as-an-excuse here, genuinely well done. My only note is that it feels as though the fries and chicken *may* have spent an extra 15 seconds in the fryer. While the innards were tender, it felt as though a tinge of moisture was sacrificed without need. The fries were seasoned perfectly, and other than the usual delight of dipping them into everything on the plate, they were perfect as they were. Fantastic amount too, not the starch overload of Five Guys, but not a skimpy serving either. The chicken sandwich was the real star. The medium contained some proper spice without having smoke come out the ears. It was well sauced, and had a great hit of acid from the pickles. Out of left field came the slaw: I was not expecting to like this to the point of almost leaving it out. However, it was fresh, felt homemade, and wasn't a mayonnaise bomb. Would order the again without complaints or reservations. I also had a chance to try their house-made lemonade. I appreciate that they use zero-calorie sweetener to cut down on sugars. However, it came out too sweet for my liking. It would be helpful to have options of level and type of sweet. Final notes: The server behind the counter was very welcoming and friendly, and the food came out in a reasonable time frame considering how fresh everything was. Final verdict: A case where I say it's a good thing Nash Bros is a little bit of a hike, otherwise I might visit too much for my health. Barring some minor notes, everything was scrumptious, and I'd happily order it all again (and likely will!)

Only downside was the service. The clerk told us to use the kiosk right away with no greeting, which felt a little cold. We made a reservation because I'd heard this place can get pretty busy. Although it didn't seem too crowded when we first arrived on a Saturday, it filled up quickly throughout our meal. I definitely recommend making a reservation, especially if you're planning to come for dinner. As soon as we walked in, I was struck by how beautiful the restaurant is. Since the building was once a church, they preserved the stained-glass windows and cathedral ceilings, which give the space so much character. We ended up sitting on the patio because it was a gorgeous day, but I definitely want to come back and dine inside so I can fully appreciate the interior. The patio was modern, spacious, and completely shaded, making it very comfortable. Since it's located right next to the little lake, we also enjoyed a nice breeze throughout our meal. Our waitress was friendly and attentive overall, but there was one moment that stood out. My friend's baby accidentally knocked over a full glass of iced coffee, spilling it all over my friend's lap and onto the floor. The waitress watched as my friend cleaned up the mess herself but didn't offer to help or replace the spilled drink. Aside from that, the service was good. My friends and I all ordered something different, and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the salmon poke bowl ($19), which was fresh, flavorful, and incredibly refreshing. The ingredients tasted high quality, and all the flavors worked really well together. It was more filling than I was expecting! Price-wise, I expected the menu to be more expensive than it actually was. I'm sure dinner prices are higher, especially for steak and seafood, but the brunch menu was quite reasonable. Most breakfast and brunch dishes range from $12-$20, making it a great value for both the quality of the food and the beautiful atmosphere. Overall, we all enjoyed our experience and I'll for sure be back! I'd love to try other menu items and come for dinner, too!

It's not intrusive, but we were sat outside. I can imagine it might have been hard to carry conversation in the very full and busy dining room. We both started with a mocktail, the fly boy, which was very fresh and delicious. My husband had the 20 oz rib eye which was slightly over done, but still seasoned well. I had the bone-in pork chop with fingerling potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts which was delightful. Dessert consisted of the banana sticky toffee pudding and the strawberry chocolate cake and a decaf cappuccino. All were awesome.
