The gyro sandwich is amazing. Not sure if it's homemade or just a really great brand. Traditional tomatoes and onions with sauce on the side makes my taste buds happy. Gyros factory does not value or respect their customers. We had a rude unpleasant experience by the owner. At first, My husband and I were excited to visit the new Gyros factory in Des Plaines, yesterday, for the 1st time since it's been under new management. How disappointed we were. We ordered food to go and while waiting, we noticed on the receipt the math calculation was off. It only said non-cash and Total to be paid, as we paid by debit card. (I thought they can only charge a surcharge for credit cards, not debit cards. It was only by about $1.30, no big deal, We had 20 minutes to wait for the food, so we were just conversing, again no big deal. (I have attached my receipt) The BIG DEAL was when the food was ready, I asked if credit card surcharges apply to debits cards, as well. We were expecting a normal professional response, but instead, he got upset and his RUDE response was, "It's 4% actually, and I don't have time for this, keep on stepping and rudely told us to get out". I am fine with leaving the restaurant, but I am really upset that he talked to us like we are shit, as I tried really hard to keep it professional and stayed mostly quiet. As far as I know they are not allowed by law to charge 4 percent surcharge for debit cards, they are rude, and we will not be going back! Have not tried the Gyros factory in many years, even though we live relatively close. I must say this is one of the best Gyros sandwiches I've had in a very long time! The pita was fresh and delicious, the Gyros meat was perfectly cooked and had a phenomenal flavor, but I must say the french fries stole the show. They were crispy, but your typical pre-frozen type, nothing special. Gyro was next and it had a nice portion, but I would not call it all that big, I would be curious to see what the "regular" size gyro looks like. The meat was pretty good, in terms of juiciness, I would say a bit too juicy to my liking, as it was dripping, I am not a fan of that, but to each its own! About average, C. This was my first time at this restaurant. It was clean and it was nicely decorated. I love Greek salads so I read the ingredients in their's before I ordered. Tomatoes, cucumbers, feta cheese, green peppers, red onions and Kalamata olives. What they neglected to list is what type of lettuce. They used A LITTLE romaine, maybe some iceberg but the rest was leafy greens. The feta cheese was 6 very small cubes, some tomatoes, some cucumber, some pepperoncini peppers, very little green peppers AND NO Kalamata olives. Zero. One of my favorite parts of the Greek salad I understand sometimes mistakes are made but what I was more upset about is the fact that I paid $9.99 for this salads and the amount of salad was NOT worth the $9.99. It honestly looked like the size of a side salad from Portillo's put into a big container. I also ordered a pizza puff, that was good. My husband ordered a gyro and he said the flavor was good as well. He also liked their fries. I'm giving it 3 stars because the food was good but the prices are too high for what you get especially for a fast food place. Well, B4 this new owner ALEX I used to order from here until the prices went up (which I didn't mind) but then the portions got smaller. So, I stopped coming here. Until I heard they were bought out and the new owner Alex rehab the entire place. Let me say, that was much needed for the prior owner was rude and the place was so dirty! Who would want to dine in? Anyway, I'm getting off track I wanted to see what has changed and let me tell you, not only is the food delicious and nice portions but the new decor is so shinny and new. I swung by and picked up a gyros dinner for $10.99. The quality was decent and the amount of gyros meat was quite plentiful. Then again, it was a gyros dinner order and not just a gyros sandwich, so in the end I think I got about the competitive amount of gyros meat per dollar as most other places. With that much gyros meat in this dinner, it might have been nice to have two instead of just one pita bread. Otherwise, the dinner was plenty fine and adequate for me. read more

We stopped in for a quick gyro after a hockey game. I agree with other reviewers...it could uae a little cleaning. I had a chicken gyro and a greek salad. My son had the gyros plate w fries. His gyros plate was enormous. If you want a lot of gyros...this is the ticket. The onions were a little chunkier than usual. My chicken gyro was doner style...carved off something similar to lamb gyros you typically get. I wasnt prepared for it but it was pretty good. They served it with honey mustard dressing instead of tzatziki...which was wierd- but again surprisingly good. The greek salads we were served were good representations- I like a classic greek salad a lot and mine was crisp and fresh and had good quality peppercinis and kalamata olives. I like the gyros plate that I had on this spot and that is the main reason why I decided to come back. The staff in here is very friendly and the place is super clean and it is cozy even the seats they have are very cozy. I enjoyed the experience when I went in here for the first time especially the gyro plate however, that is the exact order I had on my recent visit to this spot and to my surprise, the gyros plate they gave me is definitely not the same that I had when I went in here for the first time. I clearly remember that the meat from the last time I had was good and it is not the same to what I had recently. I was really disappointed because it is a bit expensive and I paid to eat something like what they gave me. Passed the place a handful of times when I work in this area, and told myself I'd stop in, and very glad I did. The owner Dino was an awesome guy and you can tell he's been in the restaurant industry for some time. We ordered a Italian beef and wife had a Philly cheesesteak, both were very good and made to order with fries and drink. Many cheesesteaks in our area aren't very good and rarely are served with cheese whiz sauce, that made a huge difference taste wise. So, you can pop in and grab a bite within your meal time and still have time for etc. The menu says, "carry out service ready in 10 minutes" Its accurate. Daily specials serving the normal fav's, burgers $1.99, It Beef $3.49, etc, the foods' good. People that eat in this area daily, would say Photo's is better. I think both are the same. Fountain pop has got free refills. Pizza puff is alright. Prices won't break your bank. For $2.50 extra they will combo anything. Free ice cream for kids.. Where have we seen this freebie already? Make a day out of it. Have your kids fill up free here and then take them to Photo's for some more free. read more

I ordered from this place since it's a 5 minute walk from my work. The first time I ordered a Greek salad with grilled chicken. It was huge! It was very basic and the chicken was just so so. It was a lot of lettuce with big pieces of green peppers. I ate it but it wasn't very good. On my way home I was looking at my bank account on my phone and I noticed that I had been charged twice for my meal. I immediately called and I spoke to Dino, who tells me that I can get a refund on my card or I can take a store credit. I took the store credit thinking I'd give them a chance again. A few days later I order a gyros plate, came with a side salad and baked potato. The best part of my meal was the baked potato, it was cooked perfectly.
