I'm a bit conflicted about this place. The restaurant is small and not very fancy, but the food is affordable, the portions are generous, and the taste is good. It's not outstanding, but it's definitely enjoyable. Unfortunately, the service ruined the experience. As soon as I sat down, I hadn't even had a chance to look through the whole menu before the server kept touching my shoulder and repeatedly pressured me to order. I found it very rude and uncomfortable because I really don't like strangers touching me. The older lady did it to everyone in our table, and she didn't seem to realize she was making our entire group uncomfortable, and it affected our whole dining experience. So, would I come back? Absolutely not. One visit was more than enough. I'm not willing to deal with that kind of pushy service again. read more

The food, however, wasn't the reason for my rating. The restaurant's cleanliness left me concerned. I noticed cobwebs that appeared to have been hanging in place for a long time, along with dirt and grime collecting in corners throughout the dining room. Even the menus felt sticky, with a visible film of grease and small food particles still clinging to them. The faded print and worn condition made them look as though they hadn't been replaced in years. Those details created an impression of neglect that made it difficult to relax and enjoy the meal. With a thorough deep cleaning and some updated menus, this restaurant could create a much more welcoming dining experience. this place is such comforting food for me. my parents have been taking me since i was young, and this is our go-to for this particular viet dish called bún măng vịt, which is vermicelli noodles, duck meat, and bamboo shoots! bún măng vịt - i loooove the sauce they have here. you put a bit in the soup but careful to not too much since it could get salty, and i love dipping my chicken/duck into the sauce!! the sauce really does complete this dish. i really appreciate that you can ask for more sauce for free any time. inside is colorful and is what you can expect from a little asian restaurant. we came at 1pm on a sunday and it was pretty busy, so the staff took a bit of time to take our orders and provide water. parking can be tough since the lot for this particular area is small, so i just park in the plaza next to it. read more

Came by for lunch the other day and it was a decent experience. Parking was available in the private strip mall lot or on the surface lot next door. The interior of the restaurant is showing it's age. The condition of the dining room is sloppily painted and panels are falling off... The walls are also dirty from most likely soup stains... Opted for the bun bo hue and it was tasty. The broth was fragrant and full flavored. The noodles were perfectly al dente and the bowl came with a couple pieces of crab balls. There were also a couple pieces of beef shank as well as a pork trotter. This was topped off with some raw onions. Dining is available both indoors or outdoors. The rice cake was perfectly soft, and the fish sauce was sweet, light, and not overpowering. For my main dish, I had bún măng vịt (vermicelli noodle soup with giblets, duck meat, and bamboo shoots), and it was easily in my top two best bún măng vịt I have ever had. The broth was rich and flavorful, the duck meat was juicy and tender, and the ginger fish sauce for dipping added a fresh, fragrant kick that paired perfectly with the meat. Others in our group ordered dishes like mì vịt tiềm (egg noodle soup with duck and Chinese herbs). This dish has Chinese origins but became popular in Vietnam. It's sooooo good. Huge portions and the duck is so tender, you'll wonder how they did it! Price is just right and if you eat in the afternoon, the door faces away from the sun so it's nice and cool inside without having to run AC. Take a moment to decide if you want more duck or veggies. The prices are about the same, but personally, I like more veggies. They're so fresh! You get a dipping fish sauce as well as a salad dressing one. I got curious about this place when hunting for a spot to try because I'd never seen a Vietnamese restaurant serve duck like this before. Chicken rice places are fairly common so I was intrigued, and the fact that many reviewers mentioned their delicious banh beo sealed the deal. The restaurant is located in one of the random corners near the giant plaza filled with Vietnamese restaurants and shops, so it was nice to stuff my face then go walk around to stave off food coma. The interior is pretty basic, and apart from the table seating, don't expect much else. The menu looks enormous but there are many combinations of similar things all listed so going through it is a little trying. When ordering, I started with banh beo, then as I was struggling through ordering the duck, the auntie running the restaurant just told me exactly what she was going to put in for me and that it would be good for two people. Why argue with an expert? English isn't their strong suit but pointing at the menu and gesturing works well. Most of the other customers seemed to be Vietnamese so they definitely have a steady clientele. Food: Banh beo: I love these little cups of rice cake! They were topped with the usual dried shrimp and some pork lard and were delicious with the fish sauce. Duck salad: what I came here for! This arrived looking like a mountain of food, there's an enormous pile of cabbage and herbs under the duck, and you pour this sauce over everything. I didn't bother tossing it, so we just attacked the salad which was very refreshing, loved the herbs and sauce, and the duck wasn't very gamey. It looked enormous but because there's a good amount of vegetables, it's not that hard to finish. Noodle soups: we got one with rice noodles and one with vermicelli. I believe they used the soup that they cooked the duck in for this so the soup itself was a little gamey, along with some of the giblets and other things they added to the soup. So many duck dishes! That's what we came here for on a Sunday evening. Half duck with rice on the side, and duck salad which came with soup. They serve some good vietnamese hainan style duck here, lots of meat, lots of flavor... and also lots of leftovers. Though we ordered for takeout, there was plenty of indoor seating in a clean and inviting space, and all of the employees were friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped inside the restaurant. 3/1/2026 we bought half a duck with salad to go. The next morning, the food is rotten. The duck look reddish and very oily. We called to just explained to her so it won't happen to others. She was extremely rude and ghetto towards us. She does not have the right to talked down to customers. We are very disappointed. Terrible and poor service. Ladies were rude and unwelcoming. Instead of a warm greeting, we were barked at with strict instructions on where to sit -- no flexibility at all, even though there were plenty of empty tables. When we politely asked to sit somewhere else, we were met with a cold attitude and a flat-out "No," without any explanation. Ladies acted like they were doing us a favor by letting us dine there, which is not how customers should be treated. Throughout the visit, service was slow and inattentive. No one smiled, no one checked in on us. Things only got worse when we needed something during the meal. Asking for basic things like an extra set of cutlery, a drink refill, or adding one more dish to our order felt like a huge inconvenience to them.It felt like we were bothering them just by being there. Overall, the unfriendly atmosphere, inflexible seating rules, and unprofessional behavior of the ladies made the entire experience uncomfortable. All the duck dishes you can think of are found here! They give you generous portions of duck. They cook the duck to the perfect texture- soft but chewy. The chicken is super good too! They call it the "walking chicken" or "ga di bo" because it has chewy meat, a favorite in Vietnam. It seems like a family run business because we saw the staff having lunch when we came in. Very friendly staff. The only thing is the restaurant is not very well lit and not that clean. We asked for extra bowls to share our food and we could see that there was still stuff on the "clean bowls". The service was polite and relatively prompt, though our server seemed a bit rushed. We ordered the classic Chao Vit (duck congee) and a Vietnamese Duck Salad. The chao, the cornerstone of any good congee, was unfortunately bland. It lacked the rich, savory depth I've come to expect. The rice was cooked well enough, and the duck was tender, but the overall flavor profile was just...missing. I had to add a generous amount of fish sauce and chili sauce to even get a hint of the characteristic chao taste. The accompanying toppings (if any were offered) were fresh, which was a plus. It's worth noting that this seems to be one of the few places in the area offering duck chao, which makes the lackluster flavor even more disappointing. The Vietnamese Duck Salad was equally underwhelming. While the duck was cooked and not dry, it wasn't particularly flavorful. The salad itself consisted mostly of lettuce, and the promised herbs and other flavorful components were sparse. The dressing was bland and didn't provide the refreshing, tangy counterpoint I expect from a Vietnamese salad. I've had far superior Vietnamese meals for significantly less. It felt like we were paying more for... well, I'm not sure what, since it certainly wasn't the ambiance or the food. Overall, Vit Dong Que is a disappointment. While the availability of duck chao might be a draw for some, if you're looking for a truly delicious and authentic Vietnamese meal, especially if you're craving good duck chao or a flavorful duck salad, there are far better options in the area (even if they don't have duck chao). Unless they drastically improve the food quality and adjust their pricing, I can't recommend this restaurant. This is hands down one of my go to places. I love going here to get the mieng vit. We went here in a Saturday at 12 for a party of 2 and we were quickly seated. After we were seated, there was a huge rush and the parties after us had to wait. This store is a little small so it doesn't occupy too much people and there's a table to accommodate for large parties. Mieng Vit (5/5): It's so good and and tasty. The only downside is that I wish they have more bamboo. When it comes out, they usually give you the mieng (noodles) with broth first. A second plate with the vit and veggies will come after. It was good but probably not necessary and will skip the addition next time. The Large Duck Salad was my favorite dish. The duck was so tender and moist. (He had mentioned he hadn't had that in years and it's not something you see on menus at the Vietnamese restaurants we frequent.) The Husband enjoyed this, of course, since we came specifically for it. We realized, after the fact, that it's one of their most popular dishes as almost every table ordered it as well. Add the sauce! * Banh Nam ($7.75 for 5 cakes) "Shrimp/pork rice cake wrapped in banana leaves" - This was our first time having this and it was quite good. The Little Gal ordered this and she loved the scent of the banana leaves. The accompanying sauce is necessary as it gives it the extra punch. * Mi Vit ($15.50) "Egg noodle soup with bamboo shoot, giblets, and duck meat" - The Little Guy ordered this and went to town on the noodles and soup. He just loves a good egg noodle and accompanying broth. I ate up the duck meat which was so tender and tasty. You definitely need to enjoy this with the fish sauce too. * Mi Ga Roti ($15.50) "Dry egg noodle with Rotisserie chicken and soup" - The Husband ordered this dish and it was just okay. The dry noodles had a sweet sauce that I wasn't quite expecting and the chicken was alright. It was a bit dry. Obviously their specialty is duck, so he probably should have focused on their duck dishes. The side of broth was added to the Mi Vit since my son drank all the soup up from his dish. I did not want the typical pho and bun/rice choices since SJ has a lot more Viet dishes to offer than on the peninsula. Did a Yelp search and found this unique place that is known for their duck dishes and we love duck! Sure glad I found this place because it was very very good! First off, I love how they put new full paper sheets on the tables from a sanitary perspective. Service was very friendly and prompt. We were seated quickly, staff was ready to take our orders right away and the food came out in short time! The lady helping us was very mindful and nice to give my toddler son a plastic bowl, fork and scissors without us asking. LOVE! We ordered the following based on fellow Yelpers recommendations and were not disappointed! I was looking for a place for lunch in the area and this spot came up in my Yelp search. I tried the duck salad, banh beo, and banh bot loc. I would definitely recommend coming here if you like duck salad. Their salad is pretty big and the pieces of duck are huge and meaty compared to a few other places I've tried. I would definitely come back to try some other items if I'm in the area.
