Bustling restaurant with quick service in a modern environment. Got here for lunch on a Sunday, and there were 5 parties ahead of us on the list inside; we walked around the plaza for a few minutes and by the time we came back, our name had been crossed off. We signed back up and got our table within 2 minutes. While not familiar with hue food, we really enjoyed the variety of appetizers and hue specialities listed on the menu. We got the banh bot loc, sugarcane shrimp, and bun ho hue. Banh bot loc was really chewy and savory, but wish the shrimp was fully de-shelled. Sugarcane shrimp was very juicy and plump. Bun Bo hue (combination and rare beef) were both nicely spiced and had that fresh lemongrass flavor. You may need to flag servers down once in a while for water, if they forget something, or even put down other tables' food since they're so busy, but they're quick once they know what you need.

They have a special promotion for certain items like soups and select appetizers. This is a small percentage off if you order to go instead of dine in. We didn't know this until we asked about it since a friend had told us by word of mouth (I didn't really see any advertisements anywhere). I will say it is hard to enjoy the freshness on the spot of the food, but for some items it's worth it especially if there's a line or wait. They are pretty quick about pumping people through here and the quality is all pretty good. Portions are decent so if you're looking for some good Vietnamese food, I'd check it out. It's in the center with a bunch of other Vietnamese options but you'll always see it's crowded here. Inside it's actually quiete large and plenty of workers to keep the flow. We got the : Bánh Bột Lọc Bánh RamÍt Banh xeo Bún Bò Huế Bún thịt nướng

Great authentic place to experience Vietnamese cuisine! They are really crowded on the weekends, so be prepared to wait. Pretty much everyone orders the banh beo. I walked through the restaurant and basically saw it on every table. It was one of the few gluten free appetizers that I could eat, and it was definitely tasty! Overall, a good selection of rice and vermicelli dishes, and the portions are a generous size. The atmosphere is a bit loud, but that's to be expected with the environment. Try the lemonade on a hot day, definitely worth it!

Met up with some friends for lunch and they suggested to meet here. Parking at this complex is busy as a heads up. I ended up circling around for a bit till I got a spot. Walking over to the restaurant, this lady outside was hunched over a garbage can vomitting and I was worried!!! Walked inside our friends already got us a table so we sat down right away. We ordered our food however I don't think the waitress knew much English so luckily our friend spoke Vietnamese and we got our orders in. The place was busy and had a lot of folks stopping by for lunch. I didn't get their special but opted for a noodle/beef dish and it was soooo good. I killed the entire bowl. My friend also ordered some appetizers and they were also really good. I would come back and eat here to try the various plates that they had.

Popped in before the Sharks game to get our noodle fix! We ordered all the banhs! Banh bot loc, banh beo, and banh ram it. They were all so good! I just love the chewiness of each one. They do not skimp on the shrimp powder on the banh beo either. They gave us two types of sweet fish sauce, one with peppers and one without. TBH I didn't notice any spiciness in the sauce, but I also didn't eat any of the peppers. The banh bot loc and banh ram it came out super hot so do be careful biting into those as the steam does get trapped inside. The banh ram it was my fav. I love the contrast in textures from crunchy to glutinous and chewy. So fun to eat! Between 5 of us, we ordered two of each appetizer to share. 5 people in our group went with the OG bun bo hue, except me, cause I like to order something difff from my BF so that I can taste more things lol The BBH had a good flavor, but you have to ask for more sa te sauce on the side. These are pre portioned too. They also do not give you any condiments on the table, so that was kind of a bummer because we love to dress our noodles. The broth was not as spicy or hot as we would have liked. I went with the bun cha hanoi. The portion was huge, but I also ate a lot of the apps, so I was pretty full from those already. This dish comes with a whole platter of veggies, herbs and noodles with a small bowl of meat soaking in the fish sauce. The nem nuong and sliced pork were okay.. Kinda dry tbh. I would skip this dish here. The food here is fairly cheap and I believe their take out options are even cheaper. Located in a plaza with lots of yummy eats so you can eat and then shop for Asian goods, and also dessert. Parking is plentiful as there is a shared lot and service was very fast. They take AP too, so that's always a plus!

I came here one evening for dinner and ordered a variety of items to try. This place has been on my list to try for a while per recommendations. Here I tried the: Banh Beo, Banh Bot Loc, Banh Ram It, Chao Tom, Bun Bo Hue, Bun Cha Ha Noi, and Co'm Suon Trung Op La Overall, everything was fine. I really enjoyed their banh ram it which is a fried and steamed dumpling, lots of textural contrast. The chao tom which is sugarcane shrimp was not my favorite, as the shrimp did not taste fresh. Many people around me had ordered the bun bo hue so I tried that, it was okay. It has a strong lemongrass flavor, hard to taste the fermented shrimp, and the pork blood was not fresh. For the Co'm Suon Trung Op La which is a rice plate, it came with a pork chop which was very dry, the egg was a bit overcooked, but overall it was fine. Lots of folks seem to really enjoy this place, it is very busy - but maybe I ordered the wrong things but I think this spot is fine. Everything is relatively affordable and they give big portions.

Solid Vietnamese spot with a bright, casual ambiance, and fast service. We were seated quickly and it didn't take long for our food to come out! The Bánh Bèo was light and delicious, the small steamed rice cakes with shrimp were easy to keep going back for! We also ordered the Bún Bò Huế, which had a rich, aromatic broth that was packed with flavor, and the Hến Xúc Bánh Tráng was fun and tasty with its crunchy rice crackers. Can't go wrong with any of these orders. Overall the food quality was amazing and the comforting dishes were really well executed. Excited to come back soon!

Huế Vietnamese Food in South San Jose is always packed, which set my expectations high. It's good, but I'm not at all convinced it deserves the constant line-out-the-door hype. That said, they're famous for Bánh Bèo and I get why. The rice cakes with ground shrimp are tasty, especially with the dried shrimp on top. Definitely the highlight and worth ordering. The Bún Bò Huế with oxtail looked amazing but was just okay. A bit oily and not as flavorful as it looked. The real miss was the Bún Thịt Nướng. Sliced grilled pork served over vermicelli & vegetables. The pork was dry. Try it but manage expectations. Popular doesn't always mean flawless.

Came back to try a second time with my mom this time. The Bun Bo Hue was only ok, definitely not their specialty. The place is still very busy and would say it's the appetizers that drive it. There is high turnover and many people cycling in and out of the place very quickly. But not sure why. Service is quick and on point, but I wouldn't say it is best Viet food in town.

Came around lunchtime during the week, it was busy but not impossible to find parking in the plaza. The restaurant was packed but turnaround was pretty fast, it seems like most people didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes. We weren't too hungry, so the two of us shared an order of banh beo and a bun bo hue. The banh beo were delicious, with varying textures and the tangy sauce. The bun bo hue was also super flavorful, the spice hits you at first but it's not overwhelmingly spicy. The portion sizes are big and prices are reasonable. Would definitely come back again, but would probably avoid the weekend seeing how busy they were already on a weekday!

My uncle wanted to take us to his favorite banh beo restaurant in San Jose and I completely forgot that this was also on my must try list. We got there around 10:30am and it was already packed. Mind you that the restaurant opens at 10am. We got seated immediately but shortly after, a waitlist started forming. We got: #4 Banh Nam: It tasted very similar to Banh Beo but in a banana leaf wrap. It was yummy! #1 Banh Beo: My faveeee! It doesn't come with the yellow mung bean but it was still delicious. Uncle said the traditional way is just dried fish lol it also comes with different kinds of fish sauce (regular and spicy) #38 Bun Tom Thit Nuong: Hubby liked it! It was a huge bowl of food - could have shared between 2 people. #47 Bo Luc Lac: My aunt and I got the same dish! Massive plate, just wish they had more beef and it was a little bit softer. Service was alright, a little slow and the servers didn't know the menu well lol if we were to come back, I'd definitely get the appetizers! Banh Beo and Banh Nam 1000% It looks small from the outside but it's a bit spacious inside, just packed! There's a shared parking lot with other restaurants so it gets full quick. We were able to get a spot easily but after eating, tons of cars waiting for spots.

This spot came highly recommended by a local, and seeing a long line out the door during the holidays only confirmed the hype. I'm no expert in Vietnamese cuisine, but I had the chance to try two appetizers that I'd never had before and was pleasantly surprised. The Bánh Bèo stood out for its fun texture and satisfying crunch. The two main dishes were generously portioned. We definitely couldn't finish them, especially after ordering two appetizers as well. I'd definitely be interested in returning to explore more of the menu on a future visit to this casual Vietnamese restaurant.

Hue is a no frills Vietnamese restaurant known for their bun bo hue. If you don't know what that is, it's a beef noodle soup with a rich broth that's flavored with pork blood (although you can't taste the blood). It's located in a plaza with parking and we were seated immediately. I got the #18 bun bo hue with oxtail ($16.50) which had a good amount of spice. I was told the spice can be inconsistent but it was good when I went. I liked the chewiness of the noodles which paired well with the soup. There was only one piece of oxtail which was small, not tender, and didn't have much meat at all. We also ordered the #1 banh beo ($5.95) and the #11 nem nuong cuon cha ram / grilled pork spring rolls ($6.95). I liked drenching the sauce on top of the banh beo and I liked the added crunch of the fried pork skin. The spring rolls were only with only a thin piece of meat which was not too flavorful. The service was good and our food came out fast, typical of these simple Vietnamese restaurants. Once you're finished you pay at the counter.

When does promo end and is it available for dine in?

The promo is for takeout orders only.

    Are there any vegan options?

Yes, some vegan drink options and most (if not all) of the vegetarian dishes are vegan too.

    Are there any halal options?

Vietnam has very tiny Muslim population. So, maybe except these, the concept of halal almost doesn't exist. I didn't check out the whole menu, but I didn't see the word halal anywhere. So it's safe to say NO

Is it currently both inside and outside seating? Do they serve alcoholic beverages?

Yes both inside and outside. Make sure to ask for your preference otherwise the waitlist is for whatever opens up next.

    Gluten free options?

    Yes, most are glutenfree.

    Are they doing outside seating?

    Yes

Do they still use fish in their vegetarian options?

It also came with pickled veggies and fish sauce. I also ordered 4 of their nem nuong as not every Vietnamese spot offers this type of spring roll. These have grilled pork in them rather than pork and shrimp. It comes with its own sauce which I'm not sure what its made of. The nem nuong were delicious with the grilled pork and there is a crispy component inside, too. They taste fresh and the sauce is tangy. I like the addition of the small chili sauce they give you on the side. The real show stoppers have to be the eggrolls though. They are perfectly crispy and filled with delicious pork filling. The veggies they provide are really fresh and the pickled veggies helps to add more depth. The eggrolls themselves don't feel too heavy or oily either which I really appreciated. The gentleman behind the counter was friendly when I was picking up. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot and can imagine how their party trays must be a big hit!
