All my family and friends love it and when my family from out of town comes in that's the first place we go. They add a variety of fresh veggies, all crisp and clearly just washed. Pro tip: ask for boiled bean sprouts if you don't want your pho cooling down too fast. I was surprised it is LOCATED in the FoodMaxx plaza; therefore lots of parking in a free parking lot. ORDERED #1 pho (with everything) and broken rice plate #39. Seeing broken rice in a viet restaurant is sadly no longer the standard; thus, the excitement is real. Sides on the rice were your typical viet vibe; however, the pork chop had a bbq and a very artificial underlying fake smoke taste. As always, a bowl of "chicken" soup (I seriously appreciate how no matter which viet restaurant you go to... it's a spot on carbon copy lol) and fish sauce provided. The pho definitely had msg (I am so sensitive to msg in the sense I develop extreme thirst nearly immediately). The meats were the viet standard and very tough. The soup did not really have any sustenance. This is such a good spot their springs rolls are definitely top notch for me the green onion they add to it is chefs kiss** for extra flavor. Service here is always fast and friendly. I usually like to come here on a lunch break when I'm working in the area. Place is a little small but clean and cozy. I know there's a ton of options on the east side to choose and try from when it comes to pho places but this is definitely a top 5 for me and a must try if you're in SJ. Pho Huong is located in a corner of the shopping center that houses FoodMaxx, Jollibee, Petco and a few smaller shops. The overall parking lot is huge, and the parking areas right in front of Pho Huong is readily available. I've never had any problems finding a spot right near the restaurant, even when it was really busy inside. I've eaten inside here and had take-out many times. This particular time, I decided to grab some food to go after doing some grocery shopping. I called in my order ahead of time (banh xeo and an order of eggrolls). By the time I headed over, my order should have been ready. I had to wait another 15 minutes inside the restaurant, as they had a big order ahead of time. No biggie, but it would have been nice to be been informed of that when placing the order so I could have taken longer at the grocery store. Once my food was ready, I went home. Along the way, the smell of the banh xeo was very tempting and I couldn't wait to bite into the eggrolls. They were delicious! I was a little disappointed at the amount of lettuce/herbs I got though - since both the banh xeo and eggrolls came with lettuce/veggies, I was expecting a good amount. I only got 3 lettuce leaves, which was definitely not enough, not even for the eggrolls. I hope this was a one time occurance, as I love veggies when eating. read more

Pho Huong is a nice little restaurant tucked on the right corner of shopping mall with FoodMaxx, Jollibee, Party City, etc. The decor is simple and modern. The elderly uncle serving me was polite and courteous. #1 Pho Dac Biet (Combination): Beef Noodle Soup served with rare steak, well-done flank, fatty brisket, tendon, tripe (4/5). Clean & flavorful broth. It was piping hot and unfortunately cooked my rare steak in seconds. Thin noodles, not sure if they have the option for fresh noodles. Anyways, pretty delicious pho. If there's ever a place that makes the best bánh xèo commonly referred as Vietnamese sizzling pancake then Phở Hương is where its at located in a large shopping plaza right off Tully Road. Been coming here for the past three years so inviting with warm greetings by a middle aged couple very attentive and down to earth. I chose bánh xèo for its savory taste crispy with added pork belly, mung beans, shrimps and plate of garnish lettuce, mustard green, collards and served with a cup of dipping fish sauce comprise of lime juice, garlic and chili peppers goes very will with a cup of Vietnamese iced coffee with condense milk. I had more than my fill it was definitely appetizing and very authentic Vietnamese meal along with rice plates and phở. Mom & pop place. I only had the spring rolls, so that is the reason for 3 star review. The wrappers turned that chewy, rubbery texture by the time I got home. At least the filling was standard and I just ate that. The peanut sauce was a bit oily and they floated a chili sauce on top. I just like plain peanut sauce with nothing extra. This story happens a few months ago. I really liked their "Com bo luc luc - rice with shaking beef. Their fish sauce is sweet and perfect to mixed with rice. Everything was good until I found a small piece of scrubber in my family's dish. I brought that up with the owner and they apologized (that's all). Came @930a post hike-- Pho ga: delicious broth with a slight sweetness that was balanced with the citrus, sriracha, and hoisin sauce. Good toppings. Could have used a little more shredded chicken. Side of egg rolls: crispy, standard cooking, and nicely sized. Bun thit nhuong: generous size, tons of noodles and I loved the uniqueness of the shredded greens, had all the right toppings- which I feel most places skimp on. Every bite had all of the flavors. I've had the chance to go here twice. Both visits seem to yield different results. One thing that was consistent in both was that the broth was pretty flavorful and I do like the cilantro being added. Another plus is that the broth is piping hot all the way until you finish it which is great in my opinion. The inconsistencies are 1. The first time my noodles were not rinsed of the starch well so it got into my broth once I mixed it. Which kind of ruined the flavor. The second time the noodles were not starchy and the broth stayed consistent. 2. First time my tendons tasted fine. This recent visit the tendons tasted like they were not washed very well and there was a peculiar odorish and taste to it. I think if these inconsistencies can be fixed. We haven't been here for about 5-6 years since I had a bad experience with the service. Today, hubby and I decided we should eat here for lunch as I recalled they have a menu with a variety of food. It was super busy at 1ish-pm, but luckily, there was a table for 2. We were given the menu and a few minutes to look at it. I immediately knew what I wanted us. I was craving for it at another restaurant, but there was a long wait. We ordered the following: 1. Pho Dac Biet lon (Pho special, large): Hubby says the broth is good, and there's a good amount of meat. However, for a size large, the bowl is considered a small size at other Pho restaurants. 2. Pho Ap Chao (Pan fried Pho noodles): Although it doesn't specify what type of meat the plate is such as seafood or chicken/pork or combination but it turned out to be a combination Pho Ap Chao. It comes in a small plate with a large portion of ingredients of broccoli, napa cabbage, regular cabbage, pork, chicken, shrimp, and squid. There were about 5-6 pieces of the pan-fried Pho noodles, which I had to immediately pull out from under the ingredients so it wouldn't get soggy. Sadly, there were a few pieces I couldn't rescue. The noodles were fried in a thin layer and only one side. I think if it was fried both sides that it wouldn't get soggy quick.The flavoring is light but savory, and bit sweet. If it was more flavorful, it would be really delish! But nothing a little Sriracha and a little soy sauce can't do to bring up the flavor. Service was decent but not great as it took them a while to bring out our requests such as more lemon and water as water came out after our food. Had a banh xeo for breakfast there the other day and it was a pretty good one. The shrimp and pork are minced smaller which it think allows for a more even distribution. I don't think the overall amount of it was less. Otherwise it's a pretty large one and comes with a pretty wide herb selection. read more

I called another place with higher ratings and found the person hard to understand and rude, so ended up calling this place instead and I am glad I did. The person who took the order was super nice. They also have several veggie options which was nice. I got the veggie crepe, the tofu vermicelli and beef vermicelli and all of them were a solid 4/5. The restaurant itself was super busy which is always a good sign. It is basic and clean. Favorite Pho in San Jose. I'm from Orange County and grew up eating at the best pho places. I love a good broth and noodles. The service is great and food comes quickly. This is my to go to place when I'm craving a good pho. I think this place is better than pho Ha Noi, Pho Papa and Pho Pasteur. The broth is the perfect amount of salty and the broth color is perfect. I will choose fresh noodles over thin noodles any day but their thin noodles here is always chewy - which I love because I had when my noodles get soggy. The eggrolls and spring rolls were delicious! I would get those again. The only con was the sauce for the spring rolls. The consistency of the peanut sauce was very watered down or liquidity. You can tell by the picture. It is not five stars because of the sauce and the pho noodles. I am not sure how they packaged the pho noodles but they were hard and stuck together. Even with boiling hot soup, the noodles stuck together. The broth for the pho was really plain. It is not good compared to the other competitors. Had dinner here kind of on a whim and it turned out to be a nice little surprise. It's one of those places that doesn't try too hard to impress you, but just gets the basics right. We walked in and were greeted quickly, which is always a good sign. The team working there seemed to be in sync and genuinely nice. You could see they were making sure people had what they needed without being too formal. Our food came out in a decent amount of time and it looked well made. Taste wise, it was solid all around. Nothing overly complicated, just good balanced flavor and cooked the way it should be. Even the sides were seasoned well, which you don't always get. What stood out most to me though was how kind everyone was, from the person taking the order to the person bringing it out. That kind of treatment makes the food taste even better. Yeah this is the most average Pho spot I've ever been to. I came here at the recommendation of my main man Matt Stonie, who said that this was his favorite Pho in San Jose. I was pretty excited to try it, but would say it was slightly disappointing given the hype. The main reason I don't think Pho Huong is amazing is the broth. It was super watery and wasn't packing much flavor. The broth is one of the most important things in a Pho for me so this was unfortunate. Everything else was pretty good though: quality of meat, good portion, nice noodles, etc. It's just that the broth was too light. It almost reminded me of the trash Pho options in Berkeley, which is not a good thing, lol. So basically, the Pho is quite alright: not terrible, but definitely not the best in San Jose like I've heard from many other people. I personally prefer Pho Y #1 and Pho Papa more. From what I heard, their non-Pho items like rice plates, spring rolls, etc. are really good, so I might be back to try those. Also, the service here is actually pretty good; the owners are super nice and accommodating, which is very nice to see especially during Covid. read more

The whole composition on the bun noodles was perfectly balanced with all components fresh/done right. The chicken pho broth was one of the best I've tasted as my wife gets that everywhere we go. (I only rate on food but the service was some of the most welcoming and nicest we've been to since we've had kids. They were very thoughtful providing scissors to cut the food and putting on a cartoon for them since not many people were there yet.)
