Friday dinner at Bun Mee. 4 newbies hungry for Vietnamese chow. Seated right away despite what appeared to be limited staff and a decent crowd. Place offers more of a modern decor with very comfortable seating. Ordered shrimp spring rolls as our appetizer and brisket & meatball pho, seafood soft noodles, and 2 bun bowls (house special & grilled chicken). Special Bun bowls served with grilled pork, shrimp, and a egg roll with pickled veggies, lettuce, rice noodles and fish sauce. Very tasty. All food was fresh and portions were generous. Service was spotty as our food came and sat until we received utensils a few minutes later. More staff will definitely fix that issue. Bunk Mee is a popular spot and will continue to draw in customers. Next time I'm up for a Bahn Mi sandwich on house made Vietnamese baguettes. Looked delicious. read more

It was decent. Two of us stopped for dinner. This was our first time eating here. There was no one to greet us and no obvious hostess station so we headed to the counter and started looking at the digital menu. A woman greeted us there and took our order and gave us a buzzer, and we found ourselves a table. It was 10 or 15 minutes and we'd still not received our hot teas, so I walked back to the ordering counter and saw two to-go cups and asked if those were our teas and was told that it was. I picked them up and they didn't seem very full and not really very hot so I asked about that she took them back and they remade them. The remade teas were full not super hot. While the tea was tasty, for the amount we got, they were pretty expensive at about six dollars per tea. Quite some time passed again, and I went up to the counter and our meals were coming out at that time, and they brought them over to our table, but they were packaged to-go. We had not asked for them to go. It was our intention to eat in. They brought the packaged meals over to our table and we explained that it was our intention to eat-in, but we would just accept them as they were and just eat them there, but they insisted on taking them back to the kitchen and plating them. They did a really good job and the food came back out and it was hot and it was tasty. And there was a lot of food! While we enjoyed our meals, I have to highlight the Spring Rolls with Shrimp and Peanut Sauce. First, the rolls were very large. Second, the flavor of the rolls and the sauce were excellent. By myself, an order would be a meal! So while we had a bit of a misfire on the ordering, in the end, everything turned out well. read more

Went on the first day of their soft opening. Refreshing to have an establishment with Vietnamese food and boba tea in the deep southern suburbs. Supposedly an existing Ruby Tuesday before Bun Mee. While the aesthetic is very boho chic and modern at the same time, the price point is more than your usual neighborhood Vietnamese restaurant. Overall we paid $87 including tip. They have a self order kiosk and the crowd was eager to line up. We ordered the following: Pho with beef/meatballs - 4/5 broth was good but meatballs were typical Spicy wings - 3/5 very reminisce of Kimson Restaurant wings in Bloomington. Not very crispy and dry rub Grilled pork patty spring roll (nem nuong) - 2/5 the seasoning of the pork was not even close. Egg rolls - 3/5 just meh Drinks are very good would come back for that. The Munmalcha has the amazing ataulfo mangoes on the bottom. Watermelon Jasmine has super strong jasmine flavor. Bun Tea Matcha also good choice and not too sweet. Presentation of the food was colorful and full of texture. The beef in my special dry noodle dish was tough and lacking in flavor. Otherwise the dish was very good. A lot of baby bok choy which I think is in season. The pork bunny was delicious. The bun was crispy and light on the inside but not too crispy that it cut to your mouth. This is such a fun restaurant to have in the suburbs, let alone in Shakopee! The vibe inside is fun, fresh, and makes you feel like you're sitting outside on the patio with the furniture. There were 5 of us that arrived at 11:30am, 30 minutes after opening, on a Saturday without a reservation. We were seated right away and then left for a bit to browse the menus. They have a dedicated food menu and then another dedicated drink menu both including photos of everything, which was helpful. Not sure if it was just today, or if this is everyday, but they are short staffed which can lengthen the dining experience. What lack of service there was, was more than made up by the food. This was my first time having Pho, and it won't be my last! Their broth was rich and delicious all on its own. The cream cheese wontons were so stuffed with cream cheese - I really feel like I got my moneys worth. The eggrolls were piping hot and delicious as well without having a complex interior. The Egg Coffee was thick, sweet, and creamy. I am not sure I was prepared for how thick it was, but it was still drinkable! I would much prefer to get the iced white coffee next time (my friend got it and it was delicious!). My son wanted to try this place as it was close to his work. It was cute little tea house and restaurant. The service was above average. We were seated right away. My son has a nut allergy so we asked our server about the oil they fry in. He confirmed it was vegetable. We ordered the spring rolls with char siu, some pork and shrimp egg rolls to start. our server brought an extra fish sauce for the spring rolls since for my son because of his allergy. My son ordered the pho with shrimp and I had the rice noodle and egg roll salad. Both look good when that came and were more than generous on size. i was craving spring rolls bad so i was excited to go get some and try this place. i liked that there wasn't too many veggies inside the spring rolls i love just greens, noodles and protein so these HIT. i tried to get into peanut sauce but still am not have not been converted into a fan.. the banh mi was very light and fresh. and the pho broth was light and the meatballs actually smacked they had barely any cartilage. the food was great and the inside was SO cute like very modern tropical chic. so comfy and welcoming! can't wait to come try more and get more spring rolls! read more

WOW. So good. I'm thrilled to have another really solid restaurant in Shakopee (the other is Bravi's). I might even call it a "destination" restaurant. Yeah, I think it's THAT good. Really cute space with great food. Best bowl of pho I've ever had. The pork egg rolls, beef noodle bowl, cream cheese wontons, and mango "tornado" tea were amazing, too. However, the Com Tam never came out, and we had to ask about it twice. By 8:30, when everyone else had finished eating, we asked to cancel the Com Tam. They finally brought it out, claiming there was an issue with the oven. Would be nice if they told us earlier. We refused the food. We requested to have it removed from the bill and asked to settle up so we could leave. Despite this, they still charged us for the Com Tam. We didn't realize it was still on the bill because we justwant to leave until after we paid. I would not recommend this place. read more

Ambience is nice.. the cushions do have visible stains on the couches. My experience was like others. Service was so slow I became confused and questioned if I needed to go back up front to order. I was seated there (they had a sign to wait to be seated).. but it took so long after that to where it got weird. When I went to the counter I was told I could go back to my table. Alrighty. There were large gaps between speaking with them. I wasn't in a rush but if I were I'd be upset. They were very friendly and polite tho! The menu had lots of options. Ambiance is okay. Clean and presentable-ish. The mediocre ambiance was the only thing good about this place... My husband and I ordered the P1 Pho, and it was okay but overpriced for the portion size and overall quality. The service was surprisingly slow and somehow inaccurate despite the fact that the restaurant was virtually empty and our orders being very simple. My husband and I only ordered 3 items (2 P1's and 1 tricolor). It took like 25 minutes to receive our phos, and I had to ask our waiter multiple times to give us the tricolor we ordered (which is ALREADY premade, so all he had to do was walk to the fridge behind the counter and put it on our table). He didn't give it to us until the end of our meal (45 minutes total wait), even though I asked multiple times for the tricolor at the beginning of the meal. Like wtf. Frustrating experience. This was our first time trying Vietnamese food! The menu was awesome--so many delicious looking options. We got the Bún Bò Huế and the Vietnamese Broken Rice with pork. We were blown away by the unique flavors and how everything was so fresh. Let me first say this place is beautiful. The vibes are super aesthetic and tropical. I felt like a true blogger eating there lol. However, service was rocky. When my group of three were seated we were sat by a waiter or host at a large corner table (yay) but upon inspection the floor was littered with rice grains and other leftover food. The seats were also dirty. I refused to sit down and flagged another waiter to move us. We were then sat at another corner table that was clean thankfully. The guy who took our table ordered was nice enough. Food came out slow and was kind of mediocre. There was some off aftertaste that I couldn't place. It was in everything including my tea. I think that was the worst tea I've had ever. It had that kind of tropical musk which is a bit to be expected but there were also unexpected chunks. I purposely just got a tea because I wanted a smooth iced drink. I can't really say I recommend this place sadly, but if you're in the area check it out and see what you think. It was a bit of travel out here to try this place in Shakopee. But I'm always willing to support any new business and try the food. Ambience: Bun Mee has a very nice ambiance. The set up and building gave such a nice natural lighting that I enjoy as I was there in the early afternoon. Pleasant big windows all around. My biggest critique would be the furniture. Though it may look chic and nice - it was not practical. The outdoor style chairs and lounge chairs were not comfortable. They may look like your chilling and lounging but the material style cushions was very thin and made it to comfortably seat for a while to enjoy the food. In my opinion the decor and furniture looks chic and pretty hip but what they forgot was the practically of being comfortable throughout the meal. Food: Bun Thit (rice noodle bowl) the N1 special- comes with pork eggrolls, shrimp and grilled pork. The noodles were over cooked and soft to soggy- so it overall it made a bad texture feel in the mouth since Bun Thit is typical rice noodle dish that is like a salad. The pork taste good- well seasoned but on the sweet side. The shrimp grill and tasty. The pork eggrolls was the same one as the appetizer- taste fine not the best or worst. The sauce or the nuoc mam- Vietnamese sauce or dressing for the dish had a good favor but on the sweet side. It seems Bun Mee theme is make everything sweet. It was okay to me. Not well balance of sweet spicy and savory as the Nuoc mam usually is. But it was bad just sweet. Overall the dish was decent if you like things on the sweet side- my only complaint would be the over cooked rice noodles that is the main starch of the dish. This is my favorite Vietnamese dish so the noodles was my biggest grift- sauce was fine- meat was good- but soggy noodles - not good. Pork egg rolls: Good but not great- flavor is mild and not as savory as most Vietnamese pork eggrolls - the sauce or Nuoc mam is the same sauce use in the rice noodle Fish. Vietnamese salad no meat : I thought it would be a Vietnamese salad but when it came out- but a typical spring mix from any grocery store- disappointed in terms of it not being an Vietnamese salad inspired but more of spring mix- cucumbers, tomatoes- in a nice savory sour sweet dressing- taste like a French dressing but on the sweet side. Wouldn't order it again for the price. Grilled pork Banh Mi sandwich: First of all I was excited that they made their own bread until I rate the sandwich and realize- it's not a French bread style bun like a at Lu's or most other Vietnamese banh mi places. Disappointed that it was more a brioche sandwich bun and not the famous Vietnamese French bread style bun that a banh mi usually is serve in. Second the grilled taste good but like their theme- too sweet and not enough savory flavor. Overall - would not order again, it since it's not your typical banh mi that most Vietnamese place would do- didn't have mayonnaise or best yet- for typical banh mi- there was NO PATE - they didn't put pate on their banh mi for a Vietnamese place. That usually is the hall mark of Mayo and pate that makes the banh mi tasty. And yet worst no pickle daikon or radish or sliced jalapeños- it's basically an Asian inspired sandwich but I would call it a banh mi. Drinks: Lychee green tea boba drink- Very decent not he beat or worst. Service: staff was very nice but for a new place it was unorganized- we got our food in time but many tables before us didn't. I could hear a server apologizing to couple tables next to me about their food not being done yet. My suggestion would be to hired a front manager- the servers while nice were lost and running around trying to figure out where to sit people or direct who needs to buss a table to be ready for next customer: Overall: for the prices they are charging and the flavor they have- if you love Vietnamese food and banh mi's- this place is not worth going out there for. It's another glitz and glamor Vietnamese place with out the traditional taste- it's not bad or it's not good. I would careless but the flavors were not very good for a Vietnamese place. Maybe is a reflection of the demographics in Shakopee to relate to the locals taste because the decor seems to be more spent on them the service or training of the staff and the food. read more

Spring rolls were delicious - great amount of veggies and the meat was perfect with the roll. The cold cut bahn mi was huge. It was good but I wish the bread was softer. I was scared to cut my mouth with the hard edges. As for the special pho, I was shocked at the price ($17.95) considering it wasn't ox tail or anything fancy of some sort other than your typical pho with all the meat fixings you would normally get at any other pho restaurant, the broth was on point! They did not disappoint with the amount of tendon, tripe and meat! The bowl was a good size. Enough for me to share. Although my boys finished their own bowls. Food is good just on a pricier side.
