I love the outdoor area where I enjoyed a delicious meal of mushroom gnocchi, a satisfying seasonal cocktail (maple sour), and dessert (sticky toffee was soo good !). Enjoyed some fab cocktails expertly made at the bar. Recommend "Wink & A Nod" cocktail (vodka, prosecco, lillet, grapefruit and honey). One of the best cocktails I've imbibed in a long time. Mr B had an Old Fashioned which was properly made and beautiful. Thank you Wendy for cocktails done right! Started with the $1 happy hour oysters, which were fresh and tasty. The artichoke fritters were hot and delicious with a delectable dipping sauce. Mr B thought the calamari and octopus were grilled perfectly, but the Fresno Chili Romesco sauce overpowered their delicate flavor. The ambiance is always beautiful, especially at night. The bar area gets very busy, so get there before opening. Patrons were sitting outside to be first in line to get in the restaurant right at 5pm. Fortunately there is plenty of outside seating with fire pits to enjoy. We know we will be back to enjoy cocktails and appetizers at the bar soon! read more

My wife and I have been coming here for years, it is our go-to date night place. The ever changing menu and cocktail selection are incredible. My wife is a Marin native, her and her family have been going to B44's sister restaurant Buckeye Roadhouse for years, but since my discovery of Bungalow 44, we actually favor them over Buckeye. Service has always been excellent every time we have gone, and the food is nothing short of incredible. They are also very accommodating towards vegetarians and have several vegetarian menu items to reflect it. It is a little bit on the high end price wise, certainly a special occasions type of place, but if you are looking for an awesome dinner & drinks on date night, look no further. read more

Great food, great ambience and great service! What else can you ask for! This place was on my bookmarked list for the longest time and finally I got to try it with a bunch of friends. Reservation was easy through Resy. We reached there almost an hour and a half early and the hosts easily accommodated us as soon as we reached. They have a huge outdoor heated patio which is decorated with cute string lights. We went for an indoor table which was set in a cozy side room with a fireplace and beautifully decorated with indoor plants. Our server was amazing! She made some great suggestions from the menu and she was also able to accommodate all our special requests. Coming to the drinks: I got "grow a pear" which came in a tall glass and it was just delicious and pretty potent! My husband and our friends got their non alcoholic drinks which were equally good. We ordered a bunch of appetizers: my favorites were the french onion soup and the fresh hummus (very unique and tasty); the bruschetta and Brussels sprouts were kinda okay. Then came our entrees. My husband and I shared a flat bread and fettuccine. Flat bread could have been better but their fettuccine was amazing! Great pasta and even better bolognese sauce. After eating so much we were pretty much full but how could we leave out the desserts! So we went for their popular sticky toffee cake and vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and cream. Sticky toffee cake was simply heavenly! Just the perfect amount of sweet and sticky and moist. Absolutely loved it! Fantastic date spot if you're in the neighborhood. Friendly staff, the bar is beautiful, decorated with pineapples and a tropical forest/bungalow (hey...) theme. We were sat in the back room right next to the giant fireplace, very cozy though lively atmosphere. The food was delicious, the short ribs are outstanding, but would have loved to see more veggies on the plate (only got 2 pieces of bok choy). Parking can be tight. Back in ye olden days of before the pandemic, Bungalow 44 was an amazing place to go to during happy hour and order up a dozen oysters and a couple of cocktails. Their bartenders and waitstaff are on point and always have good recommendations, and the food and drinks, while a little on the pricier side, is absolutely delicious and is well worth your time and money. These days I usually do takeout, and oh man is their food as good as I remember it being. I wish I could tell you more about their menu but their fried chicken and burgers are incredibly tasty. The tent they set up out front also just looks incredible and I really hope that they're allowed to keep it I wish I could be more eloquent here but I'll just let their food speak for itself. You definitely won't regret your meal here! read more

The decor was lovely, side dishes yummy, but the salmon was raw. I asked for medium well (also who has to ask for how your salmon is cooked) and it was so raw. The flavor was good but the texture of the uncooked middle was not. I couldn't eat more than a few bites. Luckily we had sides to supplement, but overall left hungry. read more

Bungalow 44 has a couple of things going for it. It is a consistent, and casual. Also, it is easy to reconcile dining here because the food is mostly locally sourced and very fresh. They have a great variety from land and sea, much of which they boast as organic, or local, or sustainable. My favorite feature here is the daily $1 Oysters. We vary our choices of accompaniments; such as mineralic French White wines, local Viogners, and craft beers on tap. I never get tired of Oysters! In all, Bungalow 44 is a very high-tone diner. They have an open kitchen, TVs, kinda noisy, and family friendly. They have lots of diner food, too.... Burgers, Fries, Fried Chicken, Mac 'n Cheese, Root Beer Floats, and Shakes. High-tone... I went with the Short Rib; it was rich and delicious. The portion impressed me as small.... but low and behold it filled me up! Oh, and it was cooked to perfection, I must say. Tuna Carpaccio and Shrimp Tagliatelle rounded out our dining experience. It was all delicious. Bungalow 44 seems like the kind of place where, if you live in Mill Valley, you would see lots of neighborhood friends. Kind of like "Cheers" for foodies. One of the most quaint and beautiful, and very comfortable, restaurants in Mill Valley. I grew up nearby and Mill Valley always had a warm mysticism to it, and this restaurant exemplifies that vibe. Ordered the Spare Ribs for takeout. Although I picked it up before DoorDash even indicated it was ready the meal was cold 5 minutes later. For a dish over $32 it was far from enough to feed a little old lady. The meat was tender and tasty but by no means a generous portion. Haricot vert makes a few measly green beans sound grand, accompanied by two mushroom slivers and 1/2 pinky sized carrot but worse yet the shoestring potatoes - I counted 5 toothpick sized slivers!!! A tiny condiment container of carrot purée, one of horseradish cream, and one of an unremarkable sauce was placed in the same cardboard box - street food style! Altogether shameless to let this pass for an entree. Haute cuisine in Mill Valley??? Burger and fries from In and Out would have been more satisfying at ¼ the cost. read more

Last night, a friend and I dined at Bungalow 44. What a fabulous, -wow-, dining experience! Even in the rain and cold, we remained cozy while dining in the wonderful ambiance under the outdoor big top tent. I ordered pea bruschetta off the new spring menu and the gnocchi. Both tasted delicious with an amazing difference from what I've tried in the past at other restaurants . (How can gnocchi be different? Not sure, but it was...) My light Pinot Noir tasted delicious too, fitting both the weather and the meal. My friend dined on seared ahi followed by the risotto with scallops. She loved her meal, and honestly, she's difficult to please, expecting much more from dining than I have ever even considered. Shhh, she even tasted the non-fish meat in the risotto, and she's supposed to be a pescatarian. My friend kept asking me why a similar restaurant can't be built in Oakland. Hmmm, I don't know, says me, the non-restauranteur. The waiter patiently answered many questions remaining cooperative and considerate, especially to my friend who asked many questions about the wine and cocktail menu. We wondered if our waiter was the manager considering her casual, yet official demeanor. While leisurely enjoying our meal, we suddenly realized that we needed to leave immediately because we were almost late for a play at the Marin Theater Company. Yikes! Again, the waiter was so accommodating. She immediately brought our check and cashed us out. We left so abruptly, it was almost embarrassing after such a fabulous meal. A fantastic restaurant! In addition to the creative cocktails, Bungalow 44 knows what it's doing in the kitchen. Everything we ordered had great flavor combinations. My favorites from the autumn 2019 menu were the fresh garbanzo hummus appetizer and the wood-grilled duck breast main entree. The hummus was unlike any other I had tried before, and now other hummus is probably ruined for me. The salmon dish with farro and avocado mousse was good as well, but the duck entree was phenomenal in comparison. You're in for a real treat - make sure to get a reservation! read more

The service and food are not great. Service is slow, wait staff doesn't come around to check if guests want more to drink (this happened twice now during my most recent visits in July 2021). No one clears the tables of used dishes and lets them pile up on the table. All of this is annoying, on top of the fact the food just isn't that good. The one exception: the truffle fries. Pesto Gnocchi - swimming in a pile of oil with barely any pesto. Mac and cheese - more like mac and cream (the most un-cheesy mac and cheese our table of 4 had ever had). Salads - completely over-dressed, literally piles of dressing left on the plate for both our little gem salads. Biscuits with fried chicken were bland and not served with at least butter. Management: time for an entire wait staff re-training, though the host staff has always been pleasant. It doesn't help when you're sitting outside eating and distracting your wait staff when they should be checking on their tables. Chef/cook staff needs to step it up. Yes, your outdoor tented patio is great, but that's not enough to make up for poor food and poor service. read more

This place drew me in with its varied and original al menu, truly something for everyone. It did not disappoint. Lovely outdoor ambiance with plenty of heaters. Service was excellent, detail-oriented, just the right amount of attention and privacy. The hamachi was a star, the gazpacho had serious kick. The steak frites were perfect. Nice selection of wine and cocktails and the bartender was quick, which we appreciate ;) But the desserts -- over the top. The butterscotch pudding, the strawberry rhubarb compote - insanely good -- WAY TOO BIG -- we rolled out of there full and happy. Would definitely come back next time we are in town! read more

The popularity of this place baffles me. It's like the emperors new clothes. I need to shout out that the food is mediocre at best and drowning in grease, every time New menu is awful. I used to order the salmon over polenta, that was the best thing they had. New salmon dish sounds gross. Blackened salmon? What is this, 1987? I ordered the sole which had no flavor, I literally had to salt it. the side veggies were drowning in oil, and a side of roasted cauliflower was once again, drowning in oil, and I was burping cauliflower until 1 AM. And I paid $60 for this?!? Never afain. My companion is a bar regular, she usually doesn't order pasta, it came so undercooked she sent it back and did not re-order. She asked for two pieces of fried chicken, it looked very dry. read more

Been here a few times but most recently in November after their remodel. Love the change, more open and lighter. We always make a reservation and get here early cause we are older and we appreciate it when it's not so loud. Service has also always been wonderful too. Grilled Octopus, Kale Caesar, Spiced Salmon, Steak Frites and the BEST FRIED CHICKEN!!! Last time we came here, our entire party of 6 ordered it and it was perfect as usual. But my favorite course, Dessert is really good here. Butterscotch Pudding and the Bungalow Beignets are the really delicious. Parking lot isn't the largest but if it's a beautiful day in Mill Valley, we always like to park near the square and walk on over. read more

Clean, Tasty, rich, fun, lively, VERY LOUD, busy - Bungalow 44 has great food and a friendly lively atmosphere but it is so LOUD - it is very difficult to hear the person right next to you when the restaurant is in full swing. The bar area is always a fun watch - there are always things going on over there. The food is delicious and full of flavor - a little on the pricey side. The happy hour oysters are definitely only worth the dollar - the are very small/thin. Since the renovation the sound has become more of a problem and the seating it not as cozy as it once was - the portions seem small and the price seems higher. Hopefully they can go back to the way things were and serve just a little more and maybe they can add some sound baffle to lower the raucous sound that overwhelms everything. read more
