Lots of potential. Great location off the boardwalk close to Tropicana. Right on the beach. Friendly staff. Drinks were fine but only have bottled water.

Went for a morning run and decided to stop in for their breakfast special. $10 for breakfast potatoes, 2 eggs and some toast. Great deal considering you get to sit beachside at a cafe that gives off Miami vibes. Cutest place I saw while walking the boardwalk. Didn't catch my server's name but she was on point. Attentive without being intrusive, patient and handled her full patio like a pro. Stopped by Friday morning around 10am. Will make a point of dropping by next time I'm in town.

My husband and I had gone to the beach without any towels so I was just using the ocean as my chair. As I'm rolling in the water, I see my husband head to what he called his oasis, Bungalow, because he was just standing under the hot sun holding my things while waiting for me. So we headed to this bar in the middle of the beach and they had a set-up of beach chairs that you could use as long as you were ordering drinks or food. Did I mention they are shaded chairs? So we sat down and a super-friendly waitress came by and took our orders. I saw they had Blueberry Margaritas and ordered immediately since I've never had heard of this beautiful phenomenon before. I love blueberries and this drink was perfect because it was made with real, fresh ones and it tasted so good. I ordered another one while my husband sipped on his beer and fell asleep. I then went to another chair that had no shade and got my tan on while listening to some Carribean music. It is a really great spot in Atlantic City to visit if you want some refreshing drinks and a place to hang out. The music isn't too loud so you can have a normal conversation and they have a pool for a small fee on weekdays, which we are definitely going to try out the next time we are in Atlantic City.

I ventured down to AC to take a stroll on the boardwalk and do some people watching. While I was there I decided to grab a quick bite. I took a look at some of the newer restaurants on the boardwalk before deciding to grab a solo table at Bungalow. I was greeted quickly and sat at a table outside on the patio. I must say, I liked the outdoor setup bc there were plenty of umbrellas to provide shade from the hot sun. I quickly looked at the menu and selected a drunken banana as my drink of choice, saganaki (fried cheese with honey) and the mixed meat plate. I killed the time waiting for my food by watching the many characters that walked by. My drink arrived first. It was a sweet, banana flavored drink. It had hints of chocolate, but little to almost no alcohol. My side salad arrived next. It was a basic salad, lettuce, tomatoes and onions. Nothing noteworthy. Eventually my saganaki arrived with my mixed meat plate. I guess the waitress didn't remember that I asked for the saganaki as an appetizer. Nevertheless, I dove into the saganaki. The cheese balls had a light honey drizzle that was absolutely delicious. As someone who has visited Greece, I will say the saganaki af Bungalow was decent. Now, on to my mixed plate. The ground beef and lamb mixed meat was good. I liked the flavor and it paired well with the side of rice that I ordered. There was a sausage that I tried next, but it was just okay. The sausage didn't stand out in any way. It was simply a grilled sausage. After eating the saganaki, side salad, and a portion of my mixer plate I was full. So, I will end the food portion of my review here. Lastly, the check arrived and I was totally surprised at the extra $13.50 service charge. I figured the charge was for gratuity. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time as the charge was 20%. I am a great tipper, but found it a little strange that a restaurant just automatically decided to charge patrons 20% gratuity on all parties. I mean the food was just okay. Definitely not close to the $87 I paid as a solo diner. I can say I have no reason to revisit Bungalow in the future as there are much better options nearby that don't have secret gratuity charges built into their business practices.

    Very confusing bill

BEWARE!! BEFORE YOU GO!!! Food was good, we had breakfast. I had a breakfast sandwich, husband had the special. Service was fast and efficient. Dining right on the boardwalk during a gorgeous morning what could go wrong?? The bill!!! What is the $4.20 service fee is it a tax? Is it the tip? I don't know and my husband and I were very confused. Waitress could not answer us as to what it was for?? We left an $8.00 tip cash. Was still shaking my head as I left as I was looking at the bill.... Never do I take pictures of the bills this one I had too.... So food was ok, Service ok, location ok, bill- epic FAIL!!

Went for breakfast. The food was good. The menu was not a big menu. Service was great.

I spent a few days in Atlantic City for work (for a conference) and it was so nasty there, I didn't want to really go outside... From the homeless and drug users roaming the streets begging, to the horribly crumbling buildings and smell of urine and weed - It's simply not an appealing place. Then I visited this place and was immediately impressed! Bungalow has two places in the same location, one if beach front on the boardwalk and the other is actually right on the beach, in the sand. It's got beautiful views and is set up quite nicely. Not only that, but all the people I saw there the day I went looked nothing like the people I saw most everywhere else in this city... I actually felt like I was in Southeast Florida, especially with the palm trees offering shade to this spot!! Service was excellent! Nadine did an excellent job taking care of our small group. The food offerings are pretty decent and they have a large cocktail and bottle list. Plenty of "cabana" style seating, except larger for each and it's first come, first served there. Overall, this was a great visit... Highly recommend stopping in!

They're not fully open yet, but they are open and I post the sign of what they have. Enjoy.

Has a lot of private places where you go have your smoke hookah and they have some food available also but they're not fully open yet but they're getting ready to come in. Enjoy.

    Menu with misspelling

Food was ok, girlfriend got Godiva pancakes and I got the breakfast tacos which was actually more a burrito than a taco but whatever. Anyway my main issue was the cleanliness of the silverware, plates and glasses were clean but we had to get 4 pairs of silverware for just 1 clean set. They had actual food on the knives in each set which was stuck on the napkin and it was absolutely disgusting. Also 20% gratuity being added on plus the price per plate that should have never happened along with our waitress not knowing what ingredients they had in house even though it was listed on menu with multiple spelling errors and taking over 15 minutes after us finishing eating to bring over the check. Definitely just need to step up the overall cleanliness and service for this to be worth the price for a breakfast place.

Come here for the "old Atlantic City" vibe and the views. And definitely order up a mimosa or two. I would recommend breakfast over any other meal or time of the day, because breakfast even in its most inadequate form can still be edible . If one goes early enough, the boardwalk is less crowded and the ocean view is peaceful while Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong and the like play on big speakers. As I mentioned, food is ok. I ordered the sausage egg and cheese sandwich. Came on a brioche bun that tasted like it could have been purchased at the Acme. The sausage was pork that were links cut in 1/2. American cheese was slightly melted over an egg. I dumped copious amounts of hot sauce on it and wasn't mad at all because it was exactly how I suspected it would arrive. If you go to shore towns or any beach towns long enough you know to expect mediocre food at over priced sit-down-locations on the boardwalk. I've just accepted that. What I look for are beautiful views, hopefully no club music bouncing through speakers on an early morning and hopefully an adequate pour of champagne in a mimosa. That's all here. Go for the views and accept the food. (And service was good! Forewarned: gratuity is included in all checks, which will be called a service fee, however it's not 20 percent so tipped additionally to get our server there)

We decided to stop at Bungalow while out for a walk on the board walk. My first impression was how friendly and energetic the staff was. Everyone was very informative and professional. The inside was clean and beautiful as well. From our table you could see the ocean, or look out onto the lively patio. As for food I wasn't particularly impressed. I started with the calamari, it was really lacking in both taste and textures. The breading seemed a like it might have been fried I old oil, that gave it a heavy taste. As my main I ordered the apple Brie grilled cheese. I was really disappointed. Not only was there absolutely no melted cheese (the fillings slid out of the sandwich) but the Brie and apple were cold and dry. With that being said my friends ordered one of the pastas, they really enjoyed theirs. The cocktails were a little disappointing too. I had a margarita and it was far from what I typically like to see in a margarita. There was also no listed price attached for the cocktails anywhere, it made me a little uncomfortable blindly ordering a drink without knowing it's price. Overall I really enjoyed the atmosphere and warm welcoming energy here. I loved how clean and well organised everything looked. It was just the food that I couldn't look past, not my favourite. All in all stop here for a great atmosphere and fantastic service, maybe not the menu.

We stopped in Atlantic City for a day trip and walked the boardwalk that following morning. Stopping at this restaurant for breakfast, was just what we needed! We love the whole boardwalk beach feel ambiance! The service was inviting, which drew us in. It was such an amazing beachfront experience and the service was very attentive. The food was good. They served perfect beachside breakfast that you would expect and everything was just....peaceful. The food was ok..nothing spectacular and the drinks were to be expected, I ordered a pina colada. Overall, the experience was worth while.

Ask the Community - Bungalow Restaurant and Beach

Hello is there any age limitations for entering, I would be the only one drinking not my guest who is 19?

How busy does this place get? Would you suggest reserving a cabana/table for 8 girls on a Saturday afternoon?

Ordinarily, you don't need a reservation but for a party of 8 you definitely need a reservation. Food is good but not gourmet. I go there to smoke cigars at the beach bar. However, the ambiance of the outside dining area is terrific, and you will…

Is there a cost with reserving a hammock or beach bed?

Hello! Hammocks are first come first serve basis and beach beds do you have a cost yes. If he would like to reserve one please contact Stephanie at +1 (917) 992-4067 :)

Dinner and a show, I'm down! The show was good, but the food was just fine. Everything leaned too sweet for my liking. Our group of 4 got the $30 each 7 course family style meal. From the outside, it doesn't look like much; in fact, it looks like a bit of a dive from outside. But when you walk in, you are transported. The design of the restaurant is so special - community tables, pillows, tapestries, waterfall features, tiles, and belly dancing. The food was a little inconsistent. We shared many dishes: Bastilla (baked layers of filo dough, eggs, chicken, almonds, sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar); hummus (chickpeas, tahini, crushed garlic, lemon juice, sprinkled with paprika and olive oil, served with pita bread); Spanakopita; salad trio (eggplant salad, cucumber and tomato salad, and carrot salad); lamb tagine (stew of lamb, onions, and roasted peppers topped with honey and served with rice); Moroccan chicken with harissa cumin sauce; mujaddara (cracked bulgur wheat cooked with lentils and caramelized onions); and mint tea. I wish they didn't serve bottled waters, and the food was mostly good but not the most consistent. Our mujaddara wasn't served with the yogurt sauce listed on the menu, and the lamb with the tagine was incredibly fatty, making some of it inedible. The mint tea was really really really sweet - like syrup! I also wish the bastilla had a little less powdered sugar (I like on the dish, but it was A LOT of powdered sugar), and it was quite dry. But the eggplant salad, carrot salad, hummus, and mujaddara (even without the yogurt sauce) were great. I would happily have eaten just those dishes. They were busy - it's a popular place - but service was also a challenge. It took us almost a half hour to get the check and pay. I had to ask for the bill twice and then it still took a while to get it, for it to get picked up, and for it to come back to us. It's pretty bad if I'm considering walking up to the bar to get the check and pay. I loved the ambiance and the character. I loved that you can't tell how amazing it's going to be inside when you see the outside of the building - it's a surprise for sure. Our experience was that the food was a bit inconsistent, but it certainly was a fun meal.
