I have lived at Bunker Hill for a few years now and have loved what a great place it is. The apartments are so big and and well priced for the area. The location is really amazing and a lot of care goes into the complex. Pat and Karla work around the clock to keep the complex clean and safe. The landscaping is always so well kept with beautiful plants, flowers and trees. The maintenance staff & grounds keepers are also pretty amazing and they are really friendly and respectful. I had problems with some really nasty lying neighbors. They stayed up all night (2-3am) slamming every door and cabinet while running the water in the shower for hours at a time. They would have strange people over all the time and then lie about being sick and helpless (as I could see them running up and down the stairs and jogging in the neighborhood). Pat did so much to help and me with this situation. She did everything she could and went out of her way to fix this problem. The awful neighbor's lying daughter then has the nerve to write a bad review when she didn't even live here. It was her mother and brother who caused all the problems! Pat and Karla really did a great job handling such ugly people who were trying to ruin the very peaceful life here at Bunker Hill. I write this because I am leaving Bunker Hill soon as I got a new job in another state I am hoping I can find a new home that was a nice as this one was for me with the caring people and a peaceful and professional atmosphere that is Bunker Hill. I am sharing feedback based on my recent move-out experience at Bunker Hill Apartments. I am just a single teacher trying to buy and set up my first home. Overall, I appreciated my time living at the property and found earlier management to be responsive and professional. However, my experience during the move-out process with current management was less positive. Communication around key questions was limited. When I asked for guidance on locating my security deposit information in the resident app, I was told it was "on the app" without further direction. I also requested corporate contact information and was not provided it. I was charged for alleged hardwood floor damage, but the photos provided did not clearly show where in the unit the damage was located, which made it difficult to fully verify the claim. I was notified of the final balance on the same day payment was due. I was told I could do payments, but still had to make a payment that same day. While I ultimately paid the charge to close out my account, I would have benefited from more time and clearer documentation to review the charges. I hope future communication and move-out processes can include clearer instructions, more detailed documentation, and more timely notice of final balances. read more

I've lived here for six months now and absolutely love it. The apartments are huge. They always say that in the ads, but they are not kidding here. The 2 bed/2 bath is 1,100 square feet. The downstairs units are very comfortable with a large patio and tall ceilings. The upstairs units have vaulted ceilings, which make them seem palatial. There's lots of light and plenty of windows. The fixtures are a little dated, but it's not like they are from the '70s. There's plenty of cupboard space and counter space in the kitchen and the water pressure is very nice. They have 24-hour laundry on-site, but they use the card system (I'm not a fan of the cards as they are only rechargeable with a credit or debit card). Gas and cable are included with the rent and they often have great deals for signing a year lease. The complex is situated in a quiet neighborhood full of professors, young professionals, and students. There are a fair amount of little dogs and some kids, which makes it feel very homey too. The grounds are very well maintained and the pools are nice, though very busy during the summer months. The maintenance staff are helpful and downright sweet. Another perk is the Canyon Crest Towne Center just across the street, which is very convenient for groceries, coffee, or even happy hour. My sole complaint would be management. They are not bad by any stretch of the imagination (and I've had bad landlords!). However, one of the managers, Pat, can come off as either friendly or quiet terse, to the point of bordering on rude. If you stay on her good side or catch her on a good day, everything is great. Just try to take it with a grain of salt if you annoy her or catch her on a bad day, because living here it completely worth a little attitude. read more

I love these apartments! We have lived here since end of 2017. Perks: walk to Canyon Crest towncenter, month to month, own parking, responds quickly to emails, takes good care of property, kind employees, pool area, feels safe, warm neighbors. Cons: older 80s/90s style apts, outdated, separate laundry rooms, buy own fridge and microwave, no lighting in bedrooms and living room - must have lamps. I love it here overall! read more

Okay, not the Ritz Hotel but for what you're paying you're getting a bigger benefit over other locations. They now offer 100/10 internet. Not bad for free. They also offer fairly high tiered cable tv, if you're in to that, for free. Not HBO or anything but just a tier or so below the highest. Can't complain there. Property is clean and people are quite nice. If I moved out or moved around and returned to this area I would definitely apply to get back in to Bunker Hill Apartments. I have looked around and there are some places that cost more but for the price range this is definitely a great place to live! read more

I love living here! I lived here 10 years ago in my early 20's and after my husband and I got married, we chose Bunker Hill to start our life together. I have lived at Bunker Hill for going on a year now, in one of the 3 bedrooms. I think management is great! I love Pat (the primary manager), and while she takes running this place with a no-nonsense attitude, she is sweet as can be. As far as the apartment complex itself is concerned, these apartments are HUGE! Even the one bedrooms have a tremendous amount of space. I would recommend an upstairs apartment if you can deal with stairs. All the upstairs apartments have vaulted ceilings and therefore seem even more spacious. For the space and the price, you're not going to find anything better in Riverside--believe me, I've looked. The location is prime. We are directly across the street from the Canyon Crest Towne Center. Rite Aid and Ralph's are right there. So many times I've run across the street just to grab something. It's also really nice to take a walk with my husband across the street to have an impromptu date at one of the many restaurants, or even just to take our dog for a quick little walk. Yes, that's right, they do allow pets here for an additional deposit and an extra monthly fee. Our dog community around here is also really friendly. Half of us know each other just based on our dog's names and not each others. :) The property is also well maintained. Every morning they have gardeners here working on the landscaping and cleaning the sidewalks. There are dumpsters for trash in several different places for convenience and, of course, those are cleared out every week. When that is happening the dumpsters disappear for a little bit, but if you just leave your trash in the bin area, the garbage men throw it in when they return the dumpsters. There are also two pool areas on the property along with hot tubs at each location. Those are also maintained weekly and are very inviting. There are three laundry rooms around the property and are open 24 hours. The machines are brand new (they just brought in new ones a week or so ago) and are reasonably priced to use. The only downside, I would say, is that the apartment fixtures are a bit dated and that shows in the cabinetry and counter tops. They look like 70's/80's but, honestly, it's not that serious. It's a rental, ya know? And, rent is so fair it's not even funny so I'll make that sacrifice, I've still been able to make my apartment totally cute. But wait, there's more! Another plus is that the apartments are spotless when you move in. Maintenance is prompt and usually to your place the same day as your call, or the next day at the latest. Additionally, the place offers free cable. It's also just down the street from UCR and the UCR Trolley stops at the Towne Center if you need a ride there. And it's also really close to downtown and the Metrolink station. It really doesn't get much better than this as far as I'm concerned, at least not for what you're paying. read more

I just got an apartment here and I CAN'T WAIT to move in! Pat is such a nice lady! She has been sweet and informative, but very firm. When I first came in, she threw out a bunch of questions just to get the deal-breakers out of the way. I'm sure she deals with a lot of inquiries all the time and she knows what she's doing. I would not recommend anyone move into the Bunkerhill Apartments. There are very few amenities at this location. The facility is pretty old and not everything works properly. I lived there from 2012 to present and 2 of the 3 laundry rooms never had hot water when hot was selected for the washing machines. Rent has also increased every year for 6 consecutive years, and would have been 7 consecutive if I had stayed until 2021, and they show no benefit for tenant loyalty. They do make improvements to the facility but these only benefit the owners, for example more drought resistant plants and ground cover. They also have security but they are very rarely ever around and has not deterred criminals from breaking into cars in the parking lots. There were at least 5 or 6 occurrences in the 8 years I lived there. There are also constant repairs going on with very little regard for the tenants when it comes to water being shut off or facilities being unavailable. It has also been my experience that guest are treated rudely by management. I had a daughter and a girlfriend both treated rudely when coming over to see me. read more

Pat is so, so rude. I just went in asking for a little more information than the website offers, and the attitude I received was beyond me. How does she still have a job?! When I asked if there was a unit I could walk through, she very rudely denied me, and when I asked for a floor plan, she literally THREW the pamphlet in my face. She then asked, "Who else is going to be living there?" I excitedly responded, "My boyfriend and I are moving in together" (its a big deal, cmon). She scoffed at me and roller her eyes before telling us that we wouldn't be able to apply unless we made 3x the rent (normal). "Do you allow guarantors?" "ABSOLUTELY NOT" (geez okay calm down). I then asked if I could add my father to the lease (the apartment we had signed up for before this one allowed it). She berated me for even asking, saying "You cannot and will not be allowed to add someone to the lease" which MAKES NO SENSE. Ugh this lady. I have read some of the other reviews that accuse Pat of being prejudiced and all together terrible. Judging by my brief encounter with her, it makes TOTAL sense. MUST READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU SERIOUSLY ARE CONSIDERING LIVING HERE! Take note that there are several reviews that mention Pat's attitude! I feel like if you really are a professional you shouldn't have more than one review about your bad attitude but as of right now she has 5! We have talked to some of other neighbors and some of them have even accused her of bring two faced because she picks and chooses when and who to be cordial to. If you were really a good, warm hearted person that shouldn't be the case, don't you agree? Even if someone were to be super mean to you, it's okay to be firm and stand up for yourself, but you shouldn't be down right rude! At the very least, in her case, she should at least remain professional! You are in customer service. This is your job! You should never be displaying attitude even close to the sort of attitude I have seen her display! And like I have mentioned in my previous review these apartments are very poorly insulated. I have consistently heard people in their homes going about their day to day routine, have heard music late at night and heard barking from the neighbor below, but for the price we're paying I can't really expect exceptional soundproofing right? I'm realistic. So that being said, PLEASE DONT LIVE HERE UNLESS YOU ARE HARDLY EVER HOME & DON'T HAVE MANY FRIENDS & FAMILY MEMBERS YOU WANT TO INVITE OVER. MANAGEMENT IS THE WORST MANAGEMENT I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! I have always lived in apartments and I have never experienced someone so rude and unprofessional. Pat acts nice when she wants to be, especially after she displays extreme amounts of cold heartedness, whether it be because of guilt or finally coming to her senses that just isn't how you treat people or that she is supposed to be a PROFESSIONAL, I am not sure, but she makes this place NOT WORTH IT! To be fair it isn't just her, it's another tenant that has been allowed to live here too. I'm sure you have all experienced that unrealistically inconsiderate person who basically acts as if the world revolves around JUST them and makes high demands that are just ridiculous. Like that person in a store/restaurant that declares it's way too hot in the room & demands you turn on the AC even if everyone else is comfortable with the temperature and yet they STILL want you to turn on on just for them? Yeah, we had to deal with that sort of person and apparently more of them live here as we have learned from chatting with other neighbors. I don't want anyone to experience what my family and I have been through. It has already happened to another family before us. They were kind to us but because of the awful person below them making ridiculous complaints as well, they too were evicted. In our case, when my mom agreed that It was best we leave after the horrible living conditions, she asked for more time and an explanation because, like she already told Pat beforehand, she is due for a heart related surgery in a few weeks. Pat coldly replied by law 30 days is enough time and then proceeded to cut my mom off and tell her, that she had to go now because she had to take care of other people. How unbelievably mean is that? She told us to leave and as my mom was still speaking, she took a call and curtly left. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL AND SOULESS! THE CONVERSATION WASN'T EVEN POLITELY ENDED! Trust me, I am all about kindness and giving people second chances. And maybe to help convince you in the accuracy and honesty of my review, let me tell you a little about myself. I have been a responsible, big sister & straight A student all my life. I have never caused trouble in school & I was known as the school good girl! Some kid in highschool even called Mother Theresa at some point! lol I have regularly devoted my time to volunteering and have always believed that it is so very important to be kind. I have worked and still work retail as a part time job to help support myself through college and I have had my fair share of rude people, but I always believe in meeting that person with kindness. However, Pat and that one tenant are at the top of the list of people who, from their actions and words, I just can't help but label as mean. AND I WORK RETAIL IN A WEALTHY AREA!! I once had a customer angrily refused to respect me and treat me decently because my store was selling soap that would raise money for Syrian refugees. Pat and that tenant have beat HER out for top spot of rudest people I have met. I think that says a lot. Disclaimer: I have not moved in yet. My move in date is 08/13/2016. My review is based on the experience in finding the location and the process of getting approved. I have been looking to make the move from Victorville to Riverside for the last year. I have lived in my home town going on 30 years now. So this change, is huge for my children and I. The Canyon Crest area was always one that I loved. So much to do right there, especially for my boys. I was referred by a friend who didn't move in but she was impressed with the space and size. I went there about 2 weeks ago to tour, and met with Carla. Super friendly and so helpful. She showed us a model, and I was sold. I filled out the application and they told me I would be receiving a call within the week for the determination of the application. Within a day, Pat called me to tell me I was approved. When I went in there to fill out paperwork she was so helpful and explained it all to me. As I said, this is a huge change for my boys and I. But they are making it so easy and we are so excited for our new adventure. We are counting the days till we move in =] Thank you again Pat and Carla!! read more

My husband and I have lived in Bunker Hill apartments for a year, and our experience has been wonderful. The management (especially Pat, the general manager) has been warm and helpful. When we needed to rent the apartment sight-unseen, because we were moving from the Midwest, Pat was patient with all of my questions (and I had many) and she found a unit that met all our needs (and she has remained warm and helpful since we moved in!). Any maintenance issues have been dealt with quickly (Corey, in particular, has been great). As others have already said, the grounds are well maintained, the pool is great, laundry close-by, and the apartments are spacious and laid out well. I highly recommend this facility! read more

You have to move in to appreciate its value! Although the look of the structure isn't majestic or stylist enough to be appealing, you can't but admire how it works for you once you move in. I started living here a month ago and feel absolutely fortunate that I have picked up this place. The apartment is indeed huge and reasonably priced, the facilities are well managed; besides, the complex is quiet considering how many units it has. It suits the needs of a diverse of groups - students, professionals, and even families. Manager Pat was incredibly capable, professional, well-organized, and caring. My boyfriend and I went to Bunker Hill Apartments on Friday the 17th of June to inquire about the apartments and their pricing. My boyfriend's father would also be living with us in these apartments and we expressly stated we needed a downstairs apartment because he cannot walk upstairs due to bad knees. Pat the manager suggested apt #99 one of the few downstairs units still available. We also expressly told her that my boyfriend only had rental history from a dorm in Chicago and she said that would be fine. We went home and talked over all the apartments we had seen and decided to go with Bunker Hill because of their rent specials. I returned on Monday the 20th to get the application and to inspect the unit. Karla the assistant manager showed me the #99 unit and told me that if I got the paperwork in they would hold it while the credit check was going through. I rushed to turn in the paper work and credit check fees the next day (Tuesday the 21st), Pat the Manager on duty that day said I was squared away all except for one paper which I got to her on (Thursday the 23rd). On Thursday she told me everyone's credit check and rental histories had gone through and they were just waiting on my boyfriends rental history (which was from a dorm in Chicago). It was her job to complete the rental history (as she had made very clear when I got my rental history myself) however for my boyfriend's history she suggested calling them to facilitate the process. We did and we finally got the information after several days of poking and prodding the staff at his old university. My boyfriend called Pat (on Wednesday the 30th) to ask a number that his old college could use to fax over the information. She told us she had already leased the unit, because "she didn't know we were coming back" even though we had turned in all our paper work and had passed every credit check and it had been less than a week. I tried talking and reasoning with her and so did my boyfriend but all she did was yell at us, tell us that it was our faults because we "didn't turn our paperwork in", and hung up on me after yelling at me. On all the apartment websites people complain about her being discriminatory and I cant help but to think that she didn't want to rent to us because we are an interracial couple.
