I am sorry to update my review on Eddie's carryout to such a low, 1 star review. But, even sorrier, was the chicken fried rice I just ate. Tasteless, watery chicken, surprising lack of veggies other than a few slices of green onions. There was very little flavor - just a whole lot of grease. I feel like I wasted my money and my lunch. This place used to be my "go to" for good Chinese food. Maybe there are new owners, maybe they are using a new - and horrendously bad - recipe, who really knows. I just know that I cannot go back to Eddie's Carryout in Montgomery Village. I do NOT recommend this place at all to anyone. read more

Wednesday 12/18/2024 I first came across this spot in 2018 but never tried it until now. I made a call in order for takeout which was quick and picking it up and was nice and easy. For my order I spent $56.76 and got general tsos chicken with white rice (lunch special) $8.75, orange chicken with fried rice (lunch special) $8.75, chicken lo mein with white rice (lunch special) $8.75, bbq spare ribs (8 ct) $15.25, and the 5 ct mumbo chicken wings with fries $12. Pros- - The QUANTITY of the food is on point - The bbq spare ribs were alright (fav item I had) Cons- - The quality of the food is not good (Ranges from bad - alright) - The food left me with an upset stomach after eating it which isn't a good look - The fried rice is bad - The chicken lo mein is bad Overall, i can see it being a reliable spot for some people but for me I wouldn't come back. read more

YUM! Line was almost out the door at this small takeout spot. Ordered over the phone so was able to get a quick pickup, but they have a couple small benches that function as a waiting area. The food was delicious. The pork fried rice was deliciously smoky, and the lo main tasted wonderful. The general tso's chicken could have been a tad crispier, but overall, this was a solid meal and I will definitely be back. read more

I've been going here for several years now and I really love the food. I will say though, as a vegetarian, you might accidentally get a chunk of chicken like I did one time :'). The flavor is amazing though! I got crispy tofu and mixed vegetables are my favorite takeout dish ever. That said, I do hope this review is seen and that bit more care will be taken so that the vegetarian options don't mix with the meat. I care because their veggie dishes are so good and I haven't been able to find equally tasty vegetarian Chinese takeout options elsewhere. I'm sure they exist but Eddies is my favorite. Eddie's has always been my go to place to grab a quick meal to go. I generally order Chinese combo platters and they're always hot and done. I have also ordered items from the lunch menu, steak and cheese, chicken and cheese subs and wings. All good. If you're looking for something to pick up on the way home, this is a good place to order from. read more

When it comes to Chineses food, this is the only place I will order from, very clean and nice and they give you so much food for your money, anytime you call ahead they are very very nice over the phone, never rushing you to finish your order etc. I've had everything from shrimp fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and egg foo young, all dishes are pretty good, not complaints on my part. Eddies has been our go to Chinese take out lately and we haven't had a bad meal yet. The foods always ready quick. Our go to is the Kung Pao Chicken and General Tso chicken. Also some of the best lo mein I've had. It's not super heavy and they give a lot of chicken compared to a lot places that just give a little chicken mixed in with lots of veggies and peanuts. Hot and sour soup and the fried wontons are really good too. Recently tried their tofu dishes and was happy. The only thing I don't like is the spring rolls. read more

So far I have been throughly impressed with Eddie's Carryout. Here are some dishes I have tried so far. Cashew Chicken - Well flavored without being too salty. Fresh ingredients with veggies cooked to perfection (not over/undercooked) Best cashew chicken I had in a long time. It's garlicky but for me that's a giant plus. Triple delight - very tender beef, shrimps are large and fresh. A good variety of veggies in a brown sauce that has great flavors without again, being too salty. Beef with broccoli - like the triple delight, very tender beef. Broccoli compliments it well with its texture. A classic dish done right. The only thing I was not fond of is the hot and sour soup. Unfortunately it's sour but not hot (spicy) enough. In my opinion a combination of white and black pepper will improve this soup greatly. Service was fast and friendly. The place looks clean. And above all else, their price is very good. We will put them into our regular rotation. Highly recommend it. read more

Eddie's Carryout is one of my favorite hole in the wall carryout restaurants when I'm craving greasy fried food. I grew up traveling to Langley Park anytime I wanted wings with mambo sauce so of course when a carry out place closer to home opened and actually serves wings and mambo I had to try and see if it was worth it....and it was WORTH IT. Not all mambo sauce are created equal and Eddie's Carryout definitely makes some good mambo. Of course my go to dish is always the fried wings with mambo sauce and fried rice. You get so much food for your money. The only "Chinese" dish I've ordered from them is the General Tsos Chicken. It has good flavor but I've had better from actual dine-in Chinese restaurants. If you're looking for a quick meal and craving fried wings, I highly recommend Eddie's! read more

The fried rice is terrible. They are lazy and they use Yellow rice the worst ever. I wasted my money, I thought I was getting fried rice until I got home. I was mad and hungry. Portion: good for price which is ~$8 for lunch special and ~$10 otherwise as of December 2021. Meat/protein: yummy tender beef, crispy chicken, shimp okay. Overall recognizable meats (hey, it is not always a given in Chinese take out. We all had the experience of having brown sauce chicken which we weren't sure where on the chick it came from) Veggies: fresh and crispy, good quantity compared to protein. They actually include fresh baby portobello in their general vegetables. Sauces: flavorful without being super oily. I mean, it IS oily, but no you won't have to fish your food out of a bowl of oil. Speed: lighting. Even during busy lunch hours. Store: minimal and basic, but overall bright and clean. Service: receptionists speak sufficient English for orders, and they take credit card. there might be a minimum like $5 or something like that. Mumbo Sauce - no taste. I mean Ive been eating mumbo sauce ALL MY LIFE, and its always had flavor. This is the FIRST time I've ever had mumbo that was just red. HAHAHA Chicken - not crispy. Called in my order late one night and they said it would be ready in under 15 minutes. True to their word, the food was ready when I arrived. There is a $6.50 credit card minimum if you don't have cash. The food here would be more Americanized Chinese takeout but is nonetheless delicious. The portions are generous: while my husband and I ordered 6 wings and two of Eddie's Specialties for dinner, we got two meals out of it. Whole chicken wing with mumbo sauce: yum, yum, yum. The wings were crispy and not too greasy. I've never had mumbo sauce but to me it was a nice sweet and sour dipping sauce. You can order the wings with French fries or fried rice for a bit more. Pineapple chicken $10.50: there surprisingly wasn't too much breading around the large chunks of white meat. The sauce is sour due to the pineapples and there are occasional chunks of green pepper and onions. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't bad. Dragon & Phoenix $10.50 (General Tso's chicken & shrimp): at first glance it's hard to differentiate between the prices of fried chicken and shrimp because the breading is the same on both, but upon cutting into the morsels, there once again was mostly chicken/shrimp on the inside. They had asked us how spicy and we went with not too spicy. This was definitely the favorite of the two entrees ordered. Sunday evening, craving Polynesian food, ordered take away from Eddie's. Stopped in there briefly a few months ago just to get some french fries. They were probably some of the best crinkle cut french fries I've ever had, crispy on the outside soft and fluffy on the inside. On this trip we ordered the Poopoo platter and sweet-and-sour chicken. The quart size of chicken was overflowing with tasty pieces of chicken, the sauce lacked the pineapple and cherry pieces that I remember as a kid but the flavor was delicious. The Pu-Pu platter had crab Rangoon , fried chicken wings, teriyaki steak, pork ribs, and egg rolls. This was a hearty Pu-Pu platter, the steak teriyaki was tender, the ribs were meaty and the fried chicken wings, amazing!!! I have been going here for years. I think me and my family were one of the first customers when it opened about 7 years ago if I can recall correctly. If you don't want to think too hard about dinner and are craving Chinese food, I highly recommend this place. My favorites are the Shrimp basket (21 pieces of shrimp and fries OR rice for $9) which is an insane deal, the lo mein and the General Tso's. The Philly cheesesteak here is also surprisingly good as well, it is very lengthy too, it is cut into about 4 pieces. I would also get the iced tea also. In this area we don't have any good Chinese food, Eddies is the only one! It's a shame when it's only one but I'm grateful for Eddies. The tea is great, I order the same thing everytime.
