Have been going to Buona occasionally for lunch when I am in town. Yesterday I went there for dinner. The restaurant is clean with ample seating. Service is friendly and prompt. I only visit this area once in a while and was pleasantly surprised by an expanded menu. I had the Spinach, Strawberry and Avocado salad with a generous dollop of their tuna salad on top. It was delicious. Many other items on the menu are also good: meatball sandwich, egg and pepper sandwich, pizzas, and of course the beef. I will come here more often. read more

Very disappointed! I worked late today so I had to stop at a drive thru for my starving family. First I had to tell the drive thru voice that the lights were not on and I couldn't see the board .....harmless yes but from there it went down hill even worse. Ordered and I proceeded to the window where the lady told me to go park and they would bring the food out to me. 15 minutes later she runs out with my food. Get home to find we are missing an entire sandwich meal and the rest of the food was cold. Not a fan of this place any more. Really disappointed read more

2 great salads. Cobb and Chopped. They have a decent amount for the price. Beats out Portillo's. Great reward club. Makes it a better deal. In past, love the pizza and beef. Never had anything bad. read more

Their chopped salad has always been good. I'm vegetarian and have limited options. I have been coming to this location for years and in this past year they changed the salad by adding bacon to it and the portions of vegetables have become smaller. The price is still 7$ The price isn't worth it, especially since I have to order it without bacon. It would be great if they had more Vegan/Vegetarian items. read more

Sine my last review (2/9/2016) of the Buona Restaurant & Catering at the Darien location, the service an quality of food has declined. This may be due in part by the noticeable turn-over of the hired help and Management Team. A recent trip through drive-thru (1/13/17 - 11:20 AM) was a disaster, took almost 30 minutes (from order placed) until received. I ordered a 7" beef, classic cob salad, and Pepsi. The drive thru team seemed confused with the orders they were handling. When I got home the beef had hot peppers on it, which I did not order. The salad didn't taste right. Not sure if it was the lettuce or the packaged salad dressing. Buona Management must be aware of some issue, because they have signage in the restaurant, something to the effect "if it's not right, we'll fix it". I'm surprised I don't see more disappointing reviews posted. Another recent change is there menu choices, now they appear to be adding tacos and Mexican food items. How stupid, they're s a Taco Bell right next door! I think it's time my family finds another restaurant to give our business to. read more

A really terrific restaurant! !! Their food is ALWAYS GREAT!!! The Darien, IL restaurant has a SUPER staff of courteous, knowledgeable employees. Actually pretty good....have been going there for years. Only thing I don't like about it is customers saying I'm an Argonne employee. So they get a discount because they can't make it on 75 - 120 k a year. read more

If your 80 years old and have no teeth this is the place for beef. It's a shame, the beef tastes good but I hate when a restaurant chops the beef to stretch the amount that is added to a sandwich. The largest piece of beef was a half inch long. Great for gumming a sandwich. It's getting harder and harder to find a good beef sandwich. The last time I went to Portillo's they were using pressed beef. So far only Maxwell's in Downers Grove passed the test for a good beef sandwich. read more

Best beef sandwich around chicago by far! Well best tasting anyway. Have had a bigger more packed beef sandwiches eslewhere. But the taste is second 2 none! I always eat there when I have a taste for an italian beef. One day my sister-in-law was going to stop by and pick up beef sandwiches. She was near Portillos. I havent had Portillos in years. Now I know why! Buonas beef sandwich has far more flavor! And Buona gives you more. Their beef gravy is second to none! And no I do not work for Buona. Tender juicy beef sandwich. The meatball sandich was pwrfect balance of sweet and spicy. Paired with parmesan chips was perfect. Delicious.

Only go here if you like waiting forever for a simple beef and fries. And the beef is not as good as Portillos.

I like Portillo's slightly more (4.25 vs. 4 stars.) That said, I do like the beef sandwiches at Buona's. This is the Buona store that I go to most of the time. I am prompted to write this review at this time partly because of the way the restaurant deals with complaints/issues. Several weeks ago, I received an incorrect order from the drive-up and didn't realize until I got home. I complained online and within a very short time received a response and an e-mail saying " come on in and here's $10 towards your next meal." We did come in and had a very good meal. I do like that the restaurant brings the food to the table. read more

I just ordered a grilled chicken sandwich that was so disappointing that I actually considered taking the sandwich back to the restaurant. Just for clarification, that is not something I ever do. I'm relatively easy to please. But this sandwich was made up of a chicken patty that was about half the size of the bun and had the consistency and flavor of a pre-cooked chicken breast that you might find in the freezer section of your local supermarket. It tasted fake and overly chewy, as if it had been processed in too many chemicals. It even had those fake grill marks on it. I honestly expected a grilled chicken breast and that is not what I got. You can get real chicken that has a better flavor at other restaurants in the area. I'm also disappointed because I feel as though I paid way too much for such a disappointing product and I will be going other places to get better grilled chicken for a better price. read more

Love this buona beef location. The food is always cooked well and the restaurant is large and clean. I use the drive through at least once a week-so much healthier than fast food and way easier than trying to go into a restaurant with hungry little kids. Everyone is happy and helpful whenever I order. Love the loyalty card too-I get a free sandwich this week because it's my birthday! read more

For an excellent Chicago beef sandwich I pick Buona Beef. That with a side order of the homemade chips to me is a great lunch.

The Darien Buona has the best staff. Always friendly. The food is delicious and hot. Easy dinner if you love pasta... order a pound of delicious sausage or meatballs... go home cook up some pasta and sauce then add the cooked sausage or meatballs. Dinner is on the table as soon as the pasta is cooked. Delicious! Also their personal pizzas are fresh, multi dimensional in flavor and made as you order. The BBQ chicken pizza is amazing! read more

We called in a catering order for my daughter's birthday party. Food was supposed to be ready at 11:30 am. We got there a little late, and it was not ready. The cashier was cheerfully unconcerned. A few minutes later, the order was put together, and that's when they realized that the mostaccioli was supposed to be hot. The manager offered to drive it over, but I was skeptical that they would be able to find my house or be motivated to get there ASAP, so I opted to wait. It took a bit longer than they said to heat it up, and in the meantime they couldn't seem to figure out that I had literally just paid for it and came over to ask me about that. I got an apology, a "thanks for being cool about this", and no offer for compensation. So the food was ready 40 minutes after it was supposed to be, and while it tasted Ok, this one-star review reflects my view of their general competency and lack of customer communication skills. read more

Really good salads and pizza. The BBQ Chicken and Beef Giardiniera pizzas are my favorite. Service is always very good at this location.

I wouldn't recommend getting their signature beef sandwich through a drive through unless you plan to eat it at that exact moment. If you wait more than a few minutes, it becomes a grease-laden mush-encased cylinder of beef, which, despite the beef being decent, is pretty gross. And considering that they're charging extra for the peppers, you would think they could be more generous than to only put peppers on half the sandwich. :/ read more

I usually favor you guys but last night I was a little disappointed with my order. I ordered two 7 inch beefs and they were really lacking on the beef. More bread then anything. If I'm going to pay 22.00 for my order I expect to get some food with that... don't know if u guys will be my favorite anymore... srry guys... read more

If I could give this particular Buona zero stars I would. DO NOT ORDER FOR DELIVERY. We waited almost 2 hours for a flatbread and sandwich. Called the store multiple times to check on when it would be delivered. They said it was not their problem, and that we needed to contact the delivery service. Called the delivery service and of course they did not answer. Finally when the food came the delivery man said the reason he was so late was because he had to go to a different location to pick up the flatbread. The manager at Buona said that was a lie. So when the food finally got there 2 hours later, it was soggy, cold, and inedible. I felt like Buona should do something to compensate me, however NOTHING was done. They said the delivery service would contact me to reimburse me, however no one contacted me and when I called the number, they did not answer. So I wasted $35 and literally threw the food away because it was so cold and soggy. I've never written a Yelp review before, but felt that this service was SO incredibly horrible I needed to advise anyone NOT to order takeout from there. I will no longer be eating at Buona. read more
