We used to go to this Portillos when we lived in Chgo because it also has a Barnelli's in it, they make pasta & salads made to order. I got the Italiano bowl which is Italian beef & a large meatball & garlic bread, anything at Portillos is delicious. read more

Came in for a late lunch and was surprised to see a couple at the table next to me with a dog. It might be news to me but are non service dogs now allowed inside is a restaurant?? I asked one of the employees if this was now allowed he said he would check with the manager. He came back and said the manager said it was ok I told him I didn't think the health department would agree. I have a dog and I'm a dog lover but I'd like to enjoy my lunch not with strange dogs. Portillo's is always on my list whenever I'm in the Chicagoland area. The locations I've visited in the past usually feel a bit like Disney World with lines running through the building and long wait times. This one is definitely the exception. This Portillo's is definitely hit or miss. I've received food that has been yummy and hot and received cold fries. Yesterday takes the cake though. The cheese was packed sideways and my food boxes were covered in cheese. I'm lucky it stayed into the package. Ordered family dinner Saturday night (10/26/24). My son and I both ordered a burger. I am posting a picture of my burger. The bun is no where near an acceptable size. Towards the end, my son and I were holding a piece of meat with no bun or condiments. What exactly is Portillo's doing?? Are they trying to go out of business? After an unfortunate experience at Dell Rhea's on Tuesday night we landed at the Portillo's on Route 83 in Willowbrook. The person that took our order was very friendly and attentive explaining what each type of cake was. While I almost always order Italian Beef when I go to Park Ridge, Rosemont or Summit, they had a "big burger bundle" special that was very good. The best part was the shift leader (didn't get her name) who worked the counter where we picked up our food. She very much treated us like longtime friends more than making up for our previous restaurant stop! The food was good and amazingly fast compared to other Portillo's we regularly visit. I ordered my beloved Cheddar beef croissant which I only allow myself to order about once a year. The croissant was so mushy you wouldn't recognize it as a bun. After I peeled it off there was no evidence of cheese being on the sandwich, which was why it was so easy to peel the croissant off. $.99 for peppers on an $8.99 sandwich. I guess I am believing what I read in the business section of the paper. The new investors no longer care about quality and just want the profit margins to grow. this used to be one great place for beef & such. since going under corporate ownership, the bean counters have taken over. first it was the incredible shrinking beef sandwich that used to burst with beef and peppers, now it's just ok. so their newest ruined item is the italian sausage sandwich. I got it yesterday and was stunned by the decline in quality. to begin the sausage was lost in the italian bread roll. the sausage was the size of a hot dog and it was 2 " short of the bun. the ends were pucker closed sewed shut like a hot dog and narrow sized. it was cooked so dry with no juice and filled with fennel seed for fake flavor. I tell you, little by little this company is destroying their once delicious eats. so sad! read more

The food here is the standout - everything here is so good. A classic Chicago staple. I love the Chicago style hot dogs and the Italian beef dipped with hot peppers and grilled onions. I have never gotten anything bad here. The service is also very friendly. The only thing that I will say is that it can take quite a long time to get your food even if you order online just because they are always busy. So keep that in mind. This was an absolutely horrible experience at the Willowbrook Illinois location. I have messaged guest services 5 days ago and recieved a case number with no further response. I arrived at exactly 5:00pm and walked up to the pickup counter inside. I noticed that all the employees were either working or engaged in conversation, so I patiently waited for a staff member to come over and help me. After approximately 3 or 4 minutes a young woman who I later found out was a (shift manager named Emily) who (started off very pleasant) came up and asked if I had a pickup order. I gave her my name and she began to search for my order. Within a split second another female employee (I was not given her name, she worked the pickup counter supposedly, was in her early 20's, had long black hair, and was very thin) who had been talking by the french fry counter with her back turned to the pickup counter, then turned around and glared at me. She proceeded to walk over to another employee within feet of me, on the left hand side of the counter and start making derogatory remarks about "what type of person am I to not ask for help" and degrading my personality without ever speaking to me. I spoke up and told her, "it is extremely unprofessional to walk up to a coworker and begin talking about me or any other customer, all because I didn't want to interrupt her, when I had no idea that her job was pickups when she wasn't around. " She got hostile walked towards me in an aggressive manor and proceed to say, "what did you say to me? I'll talk about you and say anything I want to you." I told her, "you should respect the customers, you're acting very ignorant, you should take your job more seriously." At that point i began to ignore her because she was continuing to rant about she will say anything she wants. I told the other girl (Emily) that it was unacceptable and she needed to handle the situation if she is in charge. Emily looked at me and said, "i got it" (while smirking). I was beginning to walk away and turned back around to notice what appeared to be them smiling or laughing. I immediately walked back up asking for the name of the girl whom this whole situation started because of, so that I could contact corporate or the branch manager. Emily told me that she will not give me her name and that she didn't have to. At this point I became aware that neither of them had any respect for the customers they were serving. Finally Emily gave me her name when I asked and said she was a shift manager, not sure if that is true. I have never been this disrespected at a business that I am giving my hard earned money, all because I choose to wait patiently for service. My family and coworkers of a local business frequent this location but since this interaction we have all including the business decided to no long patronize this establishment. Other customers in the store looked disgusted by how the staff was behaving and for the staff to call someone's character into question in front of other employees and customers because they were not doing their job and embarrassed themselves is unacceptable. This young woman needs to be reprimanded as well as her shift manager Emily who allowed her employee to speak that way to a customer. I truly hope their establishments cameras caught this interaction, and management can take appropriate action. read more

Having never been there before it is confusing and they do not tell you that not all of your order is coming out at the same place. If you order pasta and hot dogs the pasta is picked up at a different window... it's also not a good experience to get a refill, you have to butt in front of others waiting for their food to ask for a refill. The workers were nice, except for the cashier. She wasn't very helpful and was just trying to get you through the line...(even though there was no one behind us). The inside was pretty cool though because it has old antique car parts and other antique stuff in the middle section. All in all it was a pretty good place. The kids loved it! read more

I ordered a chicken pecan salad. But they forgot to put the chicken in the salad. Called them the first time so they can resolve the problem. They put me on hold for 30 minutes so I decided to hang up. Called them again the second time and they said they were going to put me on hold again. They hanged up on me again. Called the 3rd time and I asked them if I can speak to the manger, she said just call back tomorrow morning because the manager is not available. From the old Pizza Hut location on Lake St. Arizona and Cali can have one but, this is ours. Previously; meticulous, precise, and efficient. Now, mistakes are made; broilers break down. This Portillos location in Willowbrook, on Rt. 83 is not well managed. I have picked up orders through the drive through and have had terrible results. 1. Cold french fries 2. Salad missing the dressing ir missing the cheese sauce. 3. Arrived home and discovered I did not receive the entire order. This has happened almost every other time and sad when my entire family is expecting to eat!!! I have tried to call and complain but no results. My advice: Order from Buona Beef which is a better Italian Beef, anyway! At Portillos, ALWAYS stay in line, and check your bags! I ordered from Uber Eats and was missing a meatball sandwich. I took this up with Uber Eats and they are giving me the credit for the missing sandwich. But why? This has happened so many times that the manager of Willowbrook should be held accountable. We put in an online order and showed up an hour later to pick it up. We were kept waiting over 1.5 hours. A total of over 2.5 hours. And part of the order was wrong. I like that they have the kiosk now .. do the survey on the receipt, they email you the code for the free large fries, save it in your notes in your phone for next time even if it expired you can still use it.. it's worth it! The chocolate cake is not what it used to be. Not sure what changed, but they started to leave the slices out when it used to have to be in the fridge anyway it's not as good as it used to be so something they changed with it so I wouldn't unfortunately get the chocolate cake. read more

I would give this location a zero rating if I could. I am so upset with my two drive thru experiences. This location has messed up my order twice. Yesterday, I did not receive what I ordered. 2 hotdogs with everything dogs with on it. I got 2 completely naked hot dogs for $3,99 each. Another time, my entire family received what the ordered except me. my order was completely missing. I live 20 minutes from this location, it's not likely I was going back.
