A few years ago I went to That Burger Joint in Skokie and the service was a mess. As much as the burgers and shakes were good, bad service can drag an outstanding product down. I stayed away from That Burger Joint. Until I tried the one in Westmont. Same good food but no high school worker angst or detachment. A totally different experience. I forgot to order my burger well done but it was still good to the last bite. The fries were crispy the way I like them. I ordered a large chocolate shake that came in a huge mug. Talk about a true happy meal. Next time I am in the area, I will stop in for a burger and fries. Good food and good service are how you get a repeat customer. read more

I visited this location on 11/5/23 because my boyfriend had been saying how good it is. I ordered a 6 piece chicken tender and asked for 3 regular tenders and 3 barbecue tenders and my boyfriend got a patty melt, we also got cheese fries, drinks and condiments. The 3 staff members working were so friendly and nice! The tenders were amazing... probably the best chicken tenders I've ever had, and the ranch was so good that I wish I had taken some home. My boyfriend liked his patty melt as well. The cheese fries were pretty good and came with plenty of cheese sauce. I definitely will be coming here again for the chicken tenders and ranch! 10/10! read more

Well this location never had I had a problem with my order compared to other locations around the suburbs. Ordered my usual burger but instead of Pretzel bun I tried their Ciabatta bun with everything on it except relish or pickles but really wanted jalepenos peppers for a spicy kick for lunch and waiting on my seasonal apple crisp Sunday which is always good in the beginning of Autumn. Attached to I oberweis, this burger place is just that. They have burgers, hot dogs, and chicken sandwiches/tenders. We were in goodwill and hungry, so we decided to try this. Dude had a cheeseburger and asked for specific toppings including cheddar and jack. For some reason his burger came with mayo which he didn't order and it grossed him out. Brought it back to the counter and they're remaking it for him. He loves the Oberweis chocolate milk and the fact that they have Dr. Pepper as a drink choice. I got a pub burger with Swiss and mushrooms with some onions and pickles. Mine was cooked well with juice running enough for me to use several napkins. It was tasty with ketchup and some black pepper on it. The fries were okay but a bit salty. Good thing we had leftover ketchup to dunk in. The tea is sweetened and there's lemonade as a choice for a beverage. They do have a loyalty program but my phone won't let me text to random numbers so I passed. Will we be back? Maybe if we're in the neighborhood. But it's not something that I'd go out of my way to eat there. The staff is pleasant, but the burgers are only okay. read more

Can tell the patties are fresh- but as noted in my pic post- chipotle jack burger lacked chipotle sauce (1/10 of a tsp), cheese wasn't melted, bun wasn't toasted. Mate had the "that burger" on pretzel. It was reported as "one of the most average burgers ever". Nothing special. If you're gonna charge $8-10 for a burger plus $2-3 extra for fries- at a WALK UP service counter, it better be decent. Bonus- dipping sauces for fries. But large fry is not large. Served in a narrow cup which sparsely holds very many fries. Too many other good "burger joints"... this sadly isn't one of them. read more

$5 for 7 onion rings, paid $28, left hungry - won't be back. I used to love this place, but it's super crappy now. My partner and I each ordered double burgers, an order of onion rings, and no drinks that totaled $28. The 4 patties were ultra thin and small, maybe 0.5cm thick and 3 inches (at best) in diameter. The $5 order of onion rings only had 7 rings. I asked the employee if this was a full order and he said yes, blinked a few times with a blank look, and walked away. They forgot the side sauce we ordered and didn't give us napkins. We both left hungry. Despite paying $28, we had to go have a real meal afterwards. I'm 5"4 and 125lbs, I used to only be able to eat 1/2 of a double burger here, but not anymore. I ate the double burger and the onion rings and was still very hungry. For less than $28, we can go to a burger restaurant (or throw our own on the grill) and get thick juicy burgers and be full. We definitely won't be back here. Also, while we were eating another customer came in. She walked around trying to get someone's attention and waited for about 5 mins. No came up front to take her order. She had to go to the Oberwise side and waive down an employee who had to come over to the TBJ side, go in back to get the employees attention (which they were all sitting down behind the closed door with their heads looking down at their phones), to let them know a customer was there. read more

Love this place. Great service and delicious food. My favorite tip is to get petal sauce or ranch to dip my fries in. I'd recommend either That Burger or a patty melt. Junior burger is good for kids but not big enough for an adult in my opinion. I got a yummy Oberweis shake after which was great. He was wearing an Oberweis apron that was filthy. It looked like he hadn't taken it off for weeks. But that was only part of it. His hands were all cut up and bleeding. You're in a field that's ultra-competitive, your competitors are highly savvy in the "fast casual" burger business, and you're not standing out from the crow in any shape or form. I thought the food was really good. The food was almost a throw back to diner days. My junior burger was, in my opinion, a good size and very tasty. Definately fresh, quality ingredients. I love that you can order Oberweis shakes - Oberweis staff will deliver it to your table. However, I thought it was a little odd that they didn't have runners bringing the actual food out to your table. Especially considering there's not much room to stand and wait for your order and the price of the food. The staff was so rude. So rude in fact, I have no desire to return to this location. When I was placing my order, a man was right behind the register repeatedly throwing those stainless steel table inserts on the floor - I have no idea why he would do that. It echoed so loudly. The woman taking my order kept cutting me off, yelling at the cook while I was trying to talk to her (I had questions about the menu). She was full of attitude when I was talking with her. She seemed so angry the way she stabbed her POS screen with her stylus. When I was waiting for my food, I saw the woman bring out a huge brick of cheese and slam it on the metal table. When I went up to retrieve my food, there were 2 or 3 staff members standing at the counter but no one choose to make eye contact with me or make sure everything was okay. There was a nice young man who came by while we were eating and asked us how our food was - I believe this is something the company requires. This burger joint won't be my burger joint. I'm starting my review by saying that I really miss the Fuddrucker's that was on Finley Rd in DG. To me, the best burgers! Tried TBJ, for first time on 11/21. Myself, wife and two teenage boys really liked the flavor of the burgers. I did read all of the Yelp reviews about this place. Kinda mixed, nothing that surprised me. I do though have to agree with a few of the past reviewers on the price paid. Four burgers, small fry w/cheese sauce and small milk shake. Paid $53 for all of the aforementioned. I don't think that is crazy expensive. However if the portions were slightly bigger. I would have given another star. Def won't be rushing back nor do I think I will be asked to carry out for either of my boys. Form you own opinion. read more

On a whim, I decided to try this place out. I was thoroughly disappointed. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with pepper jack cheese, onions, and bacon with a side of fries. How could this not be tasty?!? Sadly, it was not. In a word, SALTY. And not just a little salty, either. This was one of the saltiest meals I've ever attempted to ingest. And I add salt to my food routinely. Lots of salt. But this was just outrageous. It was gross. I couldn't even finish. This includes the fries by the way. Is everything there this salty? WTH?! That's the overriding theme of my experience but not the only negative. The chicken patty itself seems cheap. It was kind of rubbery and tasted funny. The bun was ok I guess. Plain and boring. I think the fries would have been decent if they didn't feel the need to pour a bucket of salt on them. Took to long to make food!! Then on top of that, they made our hot dog wrong. I asked for it plain,it was clearly on the receipt (#4215)!!! Then they rushed to redo the hot dog, but it ended up being under cooked. I didn't even bother to go tell them anymore, it would of probably taken them forever again to figure it out. For regular type burgers this is as good as it gets. The meat is not fast food at all, it has the texture and flavor of really good beef. The fries are delicious not so processed as a fast food place. The price is pricey no doubt, but I believe this is a case of you get what you pay for. The truth is that we are not typically burger people, and we prefer pizza and Chinese food to the average burger joint. However, we found ourselves so exhausted after perusing Micro Center that we couldn't make it further down the street to get to the Panda Express and wandered deliriously into That Burger Joint. These were not your average burgers, fries, or milkshakes! The food we had was fresh and absolutely delicious, and we were served by friendly staff. Also worth noting, these burgers were most likely laced with illegal substances to make it so addictive. We must admit, we have not tried illegal substances, but we have watched plenty of prime time crime dramas to know the effects they have on people. Sadly, we think we must be experiencing these same side effects because we are considering moving several hours to Chicago just to be closer to That Burger Joint. So if you are ready to find yourself on the streets with a used fries cup from That Burger Joint asking for spare change so you may buy more food from That Burger Joint, we recommend you try out the best burger joint on Ogden! read more

This could be a five star rating, but I don't want to overstate the case here. 4.5 sounds right to me. This place has a very, very good burger. Is it great? Maybe. I think it depends on you. For example, when's last time you had a burger? Are you just now coming off a diet? Did you have a fantastic burger two days ago? Were you starving when you got there? Is this your first burger since you've overcome your veganism? I've been to this location four times now. Each time, the word "Yum," or some variation of that word, comes out while I'm eating here. Some tips: if you want pickle on your burger, make sure you ask for for it... and it's worth the ask. If you like your fries crispy, ask for them to cook them a bit longer. Ultimately, I'm happy after each visit. I think you will be too. read more
