We visited Buono Bistro for the first time recently and found it to be a cozy little spot for a quiet dinner. We ordered Chicken Saltimbocca and Chicken Picatta. Both meals were absolutely delicious! Mouth watering. Huge portions. Not very impressed with the staff. Our server was coughing all over everything while making our drinks and seemed to be skimping out on our Martinis by pouring out the remaining drink in the shake cup instead of pouring in a glass with the rocks. My spouse ordered a dirty martini and she didn't know how to make it. Whatever she did, it tasted horrible and made my spouse sick. When the night bartender arrived she appeared to be very unhappy. Didn't smile once and barely greeted us. Kind of a shame because the place seemed to be a cool local spot for people to gather. We will be back, hopefully the staff will have their smiles on! read more

Had an interesting experience at Buono Bistro in North Andover and want to see if others have experienced something similar. Have never been there before. Got a Groupon that made the risk of a first time experience very appealing. Went during a weekday - we thought the food was good. We had calamari as an appetizer. I then had the Bueno Land sea chicken (very good) and my wife had chicken broccoli penne (it was ok). Service was very very slow and the waitress was nonexistent when we needed her. She also never checked in on us after we got our food that someone else dropped off. But here was where it got odd. After waiting about a half an hour for the bill we told the waitress we had a Groupon. It had a have a cash value of $40. When she brought over our bill, it was not itemized as all. It had the total supposedly after removing the $40. it also had a spot for the tip and it had the standard recommended tip percentages pre-calculated below. After looking at it for a bit things seemed the total amount was too high . We asked for the itemized bill and after about 20 minutes, we received it only to find out that she had added a tip already to the total amount. there's no way we would've known that to me this smells like a scam. She purposely did this to try to get a double tip. I find it odd that it would be the policy of a restaurant to add a tip for just two people And not let them know about it by not giving them an itemized list of what was ordered. Below is the only thing that came to the table when we asked for the bill. The Groupon of $40 had been removed but she hid a tip in it. read more

I will start by saying the food and the pricing were pretty good overall. However the restaurant is run terribly. Our reservation was for 7, we didn't get sat until close to 7:30. The first app didn't touch the table until 8:15 and then entrees didn't get to us until 9:00. Multiple empty tables and still had people waiting in the front. Seems like they prioritize door-dash over the in-house guests. Get the bruschetta, its super good. Also i ordered linguine and got angel hair. read more

From Buono Bistro to Vivacino, we had our first dinner under the new management. It was nice to see the place filling up when it was often very quiet. We met both of the new owners who were very friendly. Upon our arrival we asked Richard (the owner who is front of house) if they still had our favorite mushroom spinach flatbread. They did not, but we were surprised when Nimesh (the owner who is the chef) surprised us by bringing it to the table!! The experience of the new owners is evident in the improved service, warm atmosphere, seasonal menu, and tasty food. We look forward to finding new favorites when we visit again. We wish Richard and Nimesh much success as they bring good Italian food and friendly service to North Andover. read more

I recently dined at this restaurant. Following my visit, I sent the restaurant a letter describing my experience. I have yet to receive a response to my letter. Here is the text of my letter: To whom it may concern: I dined at your restaurant on Saturday, December 21. We were a party of 6 and had made reservations through google reservations. Our dining experience left something to be desired. Three of my friends experienced gastrointestinal issues later that night, while I experienced food poisoning symptoms. While uncertain of the specific cause of our gastrointestinal issues, the common denominator for those of us experiencing these issues includes Shrimp Margarita, Gorgonzola & Spinach Salad, and Pappardelle a la Verdicchio (one order with veal and one with chicken). Needless to say, my days frequenting Buono Bistro are over. We had a great experience here! Service was amazing. All the staff was incredible attentive. I love that they provide complimentary bread, it's such a great touch & it was fresh and warm. Our meals were incredible. We ordered one of the specials which was swordfish with spinach risotto and broccolini. OH MY, it was SO good!!! We also ordered the Frutti de Mare and it was incredible. We don't normally write reviews but my husband and I had such a great dinner tonight. The service was outstanding on a busy Friday night. Servers were prompt with water and the best warm Italian bread we've had in a long time! My sirloin was delicious and my husband's filet was cooked perfectly. Chianti was smooth . If you happen to go to this restaurant, I strongly suggest you do *not* have their house wine. My experience is that the vast majority of restaurants want to serve a decent wine at a reasonable price as their house wine. This restaurant does not. When I suggested that they have a different house wine, I was told it was my fault for choosing a cheap wine. I infer from this that they see their house wine as a cheap wine, and not a decent wine at a reasonable price. We also found the restaurant to be very dark, and my entrée was really heavy with cream. I would describe it as Italian comfort food. Needless to say, much of it stayed on the plate, uneaten. read more

Somewhere between a 3 and 4 star review. I will take into consideration it was Valentine's Day. The dining room was packed with tables for two. I felt like a sardine in a tin can. The service was as attentive as possible and the food was good, nothing outstanding and it's reasonably priced. The Sangria was not good, but that was likely a wrong drink choice. The menu has many popular Italian American dishes to chose from. There is not a shortage of Italian restaurants in the area, so I wouldn't rush back anytime soon. read more

So despite the varying reviews (which I had to sort through carefully to stay clear of the many fake ones) I decided to try this place as I didn't feel like driving far - and certainly not to the North End. I had a taste for linguine with clams which they had on their website menu. I went early - 6 pm. The parking was busy which was a hopeful sign. It the parking lot is small compared to the restaurant space so it ended up being deceiving. The restaurant was pretty empty when I arrived. I sat at the bar, as a single. By 6:30 the bar pretty much filled up. The menu is pretty large. But it had my clams. Note the website menu is out of date. The clams with linguine on the actual menu is served with clam sauce and not red sauce. Anyway that's what i wanted. I also wanted to try more than one thing so despite not being too hungry I ordered the meatball side as an app. Service - at the bar the service was really good. Friendly and attentive. However I had my orders completely served within 20 minutes. The meatballs came out in 2 minutes (obviously on a steam table) and the linguine shortly after. I have encountered this as a solo female diner in the past but really- I like to savor my meals!!! Pace was one star. Service in general was four. Food - ok. The meatballs were soft and tender and flavorful. But the texture was primarily due to the amount of bread in them. There were two large ones. I ate one. (The leftover is shown lol). The linguine came out looking awesome with several fresh clams and a sauce full of others. The linguine was appropriately cooked. However, the sauce just didn't have the seafood flavor it needed. Nice and garlicky. But that's it. I added plenty of Parmesan and salt. And pepper. But it couldn't make up for the lack of depth of the sauce. It was ok. I wouldn't order it again. The people next to me ordered chicken Parmesan. It was huge and slathered with red sauce and melted cheese. No idea if it was good but there was plenty of it. An aside - the house Chianti, as mentioned by another diner, is good. I might come again and try a red sauce dish. Not sure. read more

Let me start off by saying, the food is amazing! Sadly though the owner has sticky fingers. Our $145 bill including tip, was actually put through for $265. When we confronted the owner, instead of just apologizing for the error, he tried blaming everyone including the waitress for the error. Side note: the same thing happened to the couple we were dining with, so this was not an honest mistake. We have to wonder how many others have gotten screwed and never noticed? We came here to celebrate my daughter's 30th birthday. We had a 6:00pm reservation. They didn't even have us down for reservations. We waited 15 minutes to be seated. Then we sat at our table for 20 minutes when I finally tracked down a waitress and asked her if she could get someone to help us. She took our drink order. At 6:50 our waitress came over and acted like nothing was wrong and said a quick sorry and said can I take your order. There were 5 of us. The other waitress brought two drinks to our table at 6:55. Ten minutes later the rest of our party got their drinks. I will say our food came out quickly and it was good. The restaurant is very loud and they squeeze you in like sausages. A hidden gem. food is great and service is great as well. Only complaint is the the servers wear way to much perfume and it takes away the scent of the food and triggers allergies. Had to leave tonight as I got a really bad allergy attack. I do not think servers should overshadow the aroma of the food. I would give it a 10 or great if not for these issues. read more

An underrated gem ! Hidden in a strip mall - it's hard to know what to expect . A small group of us met there for dinner . The menu was extensive and there was a lot to choose from. We shared the Eggplant Rollatini as an appetizer and it was delicious. We all ordered different entrees , the Baked Stuffed Haddock was amazing and the Eggplant Parm just wonderful. I'm so upset. I love Buono Bistro but last night was a horror show. We came here for my 30th birthday last night. We made reservations a couple days in advance for 6 pm. We arrive at 5:55pm and the hostess had no idea what was going on. She wrote down our name, that we had a 6pm reservation, then told us it will be a couple minutes. Super odd, a lot of other people at reservations and none of them were written down or anything. After 10 minutes we got seated. Then we proceeded to wait for our waitress who never showed up. After 20 minutes of waiting we asked another waitress why we didn't have a waitress, and she felt horrible, took our drinks and then it took another 20 minutes for our actual waitress to show up. She laughed and said sorry, are you ready to order food. Like yeah now that it's almost 7pm I'd like to eat something. As always the drinks and food were great, just not a good experience. Went to Buono Bistro for the third or fourth time last night. It was excellent! There has only been one visit where we didn't LOVE our food, but we still liked it. Last night we started with the burrata appetizer as well as the Italian Margarita and Basil Martini - all were delicious! The only thing I can say is that the prosciutto was not good at all. It was thick cut and rolled into roll ups, and was definitely domestic and not the thin and salty deliciousness that we usually get anywhere else. I would not order that app again because of it. However the dish as a whole with the burrata and salad was good. Bread and oil was YUM! One got the carbonara entree and the other got the stuffed pork chop - which was the winner of the night. The pork was so tender and delicious, and served with the most gorgeous broccoli rabe you've ever had with a delectable fig wine reduction. We were too full for dessert, but everything on the menu looked delicious. Our server was wonderful, and I'm so sorry that I can't remember her name because she definitely told us. She had a large party - like 16 people ,and other tables besides us and she was friendly, attentive and had a great personality. WE are looking forward to going back soon! read more
