Surprised how much we loved the burgers, the sweet potato fries, all the sauces 100% will be back

Customer service here is always bad. Not poor, just plain bad all around. I walked into the store and there was no one inside the dining room. No workers to be anywhere seen. I put my order in at the Kiosk and then had to find someone to get my cup for my $20.00 lunch combo! This is definitely my last visit. This used to be a cool, fun, friendly, efficient spot. Now this is worst than the fast food joints around. Extremely disappointed. Should have crossed the street and went to Harriet's Burgers instead. read more

This is a quick stop burger shop located in a shopping area. They have many burger choices and vegetarian options. This burger had great topping choices with onion straws and a special sauce. The tater tots for two were a perfect addition to the burger. Good burger and side choices for a grab n go meal. read more

I ordered a burger called "gluten free 101" off the gluten free section of the menu a day before my birthday. I have celiacs disease and had not eaten a burger in years but decided to trust this restaurant. I specifically chose a grilled patty and had it in my notes that I have celiacs disease on DoorDash. The patty ended up being crumbed and I called the restaurant to check with them and they confirmed that the grilled patty is actually never grilled and they assumed I had a preference for gluten free buns. They also said the bun was supposed to come in a separate plastic package and didn't, and the bun didn't taste GF. You could audibly hear me crying but they just said they were sorry and ended the call. I have now had to lose a week of work and been very sick in bed for a week and lost all my pay due to this negligence. I left a safety complaint and got no response. It feels incredibly violating and completely ruined my birthday. They also forgot my 2 gluten free brookies I paid for completely off my receipt and it wasn't in the bag. They didn't address that either, I had to make another order for just the brookies on DoorDash. My boyfriend's normal fries and my GF fries weren't properly marked either so I didn't know which one was which. They actually told me on the phone how they have protocols for gluten free burgers and that's why the buns normally come separately and it's made at a different area but they didn't for me because they assumed I just have a preference. read more

Disgusting experience. We found a long black hair cooked into my daughter's chicken tender, clearly embedded during preparation; it couldn't be removed without breaking and had cooked breading hanging from it. I should have taken a photo! Worse though - I brought it to a staff member's attention; he asked where it was, I showed him, and he simply said "oh," LAUGHED, and then added, "I'll tell them." There was no apology and no offer to replace the food or issue a refund. There was nothing funny about it or his response. We had planned to order additional food to go for my husband, but after that interaction, we left. Unfortunately, we had already eaten part of the meal before noticing the hair. The food itself was mediocre at best- no better than fast food, yet cost $45 for a burger, fries, and two kids' meals with shakes. To make matters worse, we ordered onion strings with one of the kids' meals but received fries instead, and the onion strings never arrived, even after waiting about 10 minutes between reporting the mistake and the hair incident. In hindsight, the warning signs were everywhere: a dirty drink station, an unkempt counter, a visibly dirty shake machine, and unclean floors, tables, and bathrooms--all in an otherwise empty restaurant with multiple employees going in and out of the kitchen. I can only imagine the condition behind the kitchen doors. The 4-star reviews are misleading, and I feel obligated to share this experience to provide a more accurate picture. I was visiting Charlotte to take care of some business, saw this place, and decided to get lunch. I walked into the restaurant and noticed there weren't many customers. There wasn't anyone at the register to take my order. I was okay with that because it afforded me the opportunity to look over the menu, and if I had questions, I could ask them once someone came out. A few minutes later, a very nice lady came out, greeted me, and took my order. I ordered the Shroom burger, which consisted of an Angus beef patty, mushrooms, caramelized onion, roasted garlic aïoli, Swiss, lettuce, Roma tomato, and a toasted brioche bun. I also got fries and a fountain drink with it. I must say, the burger was great, and I didn't have to add any salt. You do seat yourself, and they bring the food to you. I noticed on my way to the table that the restaurant was spotless and had a typical burger joint vibe. It was open and airy. It's a spot I would definitely come back to next time I'm in town. I love the atmosphere of this little Ballantyne gem. It just makes me happy with all of their fun pictures on the wall. This is the counter service establishment and the employee who took our order was awesome as was the food runner. I ordered the Shroom burger with fries and a side of their cheese sauce. The cheese sauce is definitely queso BTW. My friend also had Shroom burger with sweet potato fries, and a toasted marshmallow sauce (she did not care for the sauce). My burger was cooked, medium (partially), but the burger wasn't the same temperature from side to side; nevertheless, it was delicious and I would definitely come back and have another one. read more

I was staying across the street at the AC and needed a quick bite before heading to bed. I walked in about 30 minutes to closing (and felt bad about it), but the staff was super friendly and inviting and didn't make me feel bad about it. I got a bacon burger with sweet potato fries. It was a solid burger and the fries were perfectly crisp and spices and thin like I like - arguable the best sweet potato fries I've had. The burger was juicy and had a great bite to it. I'm don't know if this is a CLT chain (I was visiting) but even if it was, I thought it was a solid restaurant quality burger and would have it again! read more

We've been coming here almost 11 years since living here. I would say a year ago they changed their burger patties and it's NEVER been the same. Used to be one of my favorite burger places. Went yesterday at 11:35am for lunch (they open at 11:00). The front door was locked. Someone came and unlocked it and ran off to the back saying they would be right with me. Waited 5 minutes but no one returned. Completely empty and did not look clean. This place has a very friendly staff. The manager is involved in day to day activities as well. It's never busy and there is never a wait, even at lunchtime. The food is decent, not the best I ever had, but still fine. I would go and try it again sometime! Ordered a cheeseburger and French fries online and was charged $15 through the app. When I go in to pick up the food I see they have a special on Wednesdays for $8.99 for what I ordered. I ask how come this price isn't offered online and was told let me check with the manager. She came back and said the manager said it's for call in orders or in store orders only. This review is solely on their catering and wow did they leave a great impression! Our office ordered catering for lunch recently - we got a variety of burger trays (plenty of options for everyone from Buffalo chicken to traditional cheeseburgers to veggie burgers etc), we also ordered salads and chips as well. The order was delivered promptly on time as we had requested and the lady who delivered the order spent the time to set everything up for us! She was amazing and really made the set up look and feel awesome! The placecards put out in front of each dish was so useful. We've been used to putting everything out ourselves when catering gets dropped off so this service was unexpected and definitely deserved a 5-star! The food at Burger 21 is delicious! I love a good burger and Charlotte has soo many places to choose from. I wanted a good burger and saw it was pretty close to where I was. I placed an order on the app and headed out to pick it up. As soon as I checked in my food came out. I love when a restaurant gives you a time to pick up your food and actually honor that time. I ordered a basic burger. For lunch, decided to grab a burger meal to go... Right off the bat, the place is cute, chic and clean...a 99-grade sanitation rating! So I was immediately happy with the place. I'd love to come back to actually dine in when this Coronavirus pandemic is over. I decided to try their "Black and Bleu" Burger with Fries...and well, here's my take. More than anything, I loved how they let you pick the cooking level of the beef patty. I'm not a fan of bloody rare, which was the norm at B. Good next door...so I was beyond glad that they gave me the option to choose. The buns were very soft..just the way I like it. And the burger itself was very hearty, with a super-thick patty. Sadly, I'm not a fan of super-thick patties...but I'd say the burger was definitely first-rate. So juicy and flavorful. I also loved their Fries...not too greasy. Overall, I was very impressed with this place. Although Bang Bang Burgers are still my favorite, I thought I liked this place better than the popular Shake Shack...maybe even more than B. Good. But my Turkey cobb burger had little of everything, it had a smattering of lettuce, microscopic bacon bits, no blue cheese crumbles and a dab of avocado ranch dressing and a tablespoonful of diced tomato. Wished it would have more of all those toppings. My dining mates beef burger seemed to have more of his toppings. I liked the sauce bar. So I've been to Burger 21 a few times and always enjoyed it. This last time I was slightly disappointed in the chicken sandwich I got, the menu does say that it is a minced chicken patty but I think that this sandwich would be so much better if it was an actual chicken breast. The only chicken options they have are minced chicken, looks like they used to have a chicken tender sandwich but they discontinued it. Beyond my chicken rant... I have enjoyed many burgers here! They cook to temperature which is a must. Also the service is always great, they come around and offer refills and do a great job cleaning. Unfortunately COVID did force them to shut down the condiment bar which breaks my heart a little but the employees are great about you ordering a bunch of sauces. I always pass by this place but never actually went in. I had a friend that was craving burgers and wanted to try this place. I was surprised that they weren't that busy for dinner time. Ordering was a breeze. We got our number at sat at a booth. We got the fries to share. The fries are skinny and they were hot at crispy. The only thing I didn't like was that it had way too much salt for my liking so next time I might ask to not add so much salt. My friend got the black bean burger and she really liked it. I got the monterey chicken. The flavor was good and the chicken wasn't dry. The avocado and pico added a nice touch to it. The only thing I noticed was that everything was warm except for the bread.
